Unpair remote from ipod universal dock?

I just got the Universal Dock, and now it's interfering with my ability to use my apple remote with my laptop (the laptop playlist and ipod playlist in the dock starts up when I use the remote). I know how to unpair from the laptop, but how do I unpair from the dock?

This didn't answer my question.
So the instruction on how to unpair it from the dock and the link for the same which I posted above is not what you are looking for?
I don't want the remote to control the dock anymore.
As I wrote above, the only way you can have your remote NOT control the dock is if you pair the dock with a different remote. Or cover up the sensor.
Unpairing it will not prevent it from controlling it. Unpairing it means that all remotes (even the one you now have) will control the dock.
I know you can unpair it with the computer, so I was hoping you could do the same with the dock.
You can. Follow the instructions I posted above.
However, doing that will not prevent the remote from controlling the dock.
When you pair a remote with a dock or a computer, it simply means that the remote it is paired with is the only remote that will control it. It does NOT prevent the remote from controlling anything else.

  • Ipod Nano Compatibility with Ipod Universal Dock and Remote

I have an 8GB Black 2nd Gen iPod Nano. I want to connect it to my stereo. I was told that the Apple Ipod Universal Dock would be a good solution.
    http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore.woa/wa/RSLID?mco=6C0 4E07A&nplm=MA045G/C
The website says that it is compatible with my nano, so no big deal right? I just wanted to make sure it would work fine with my iPod nano before I went and bought one. Does it come with the AV cable to connect the dock to my stereo / tv? DOes the dock have a graphical menu interface like some of the third party docks/remotes have?
Also, will the Apple Ipod Remote work with the universal dock?

The apple store website says that everything will be compatible, but I wanted confirmation from someone who has actually owned this or knows about this.
Can you offer any better docks/remotes ideas?

I was looking at the review CNET had for that Kensington dock.
    http://reviews.cnet.com/mp3-player-accessories/kensington-entertainment-dock-500 /4505-6519_7-31631868.html?tag=uolst
I had a question about part of the review though, I am not sure I am understanding it correctly.
"We were impressed by the remote's ability to take control of our iPod; most of the third-party iPod-dock remotes we've seen only pause the music or video, skip tracks, and adjust the volume, not browse the menus. That said, the Entertainment Dock still isn't perfect. When you navigate the menus, your TV screen will be blank, so you must rely on the iPod's screen for your visual cues. Our other gripe is that the remote seems cheaply designed: The buttons on our review model looked misaligned (if usable), while the battery cover was annoyingly difficult to pry open. We got about 30 feet of range from the remote, which is more than adequate for most living rooms."
So this means that even though the remote can navigate the menus on the iPod, you wont be able to see what you are doing unless you go to the screen of your iPod?

  • Apple iPod Universal Dock And Remote

So If I have the Apple iPod Universal Dock and the Apple Remote And a iPod nano do I have front row?

So in case anyone at Apple is paying attention:
    1) Offer a package of the Apple Remote, a USB receiver for it, and Front Row together as a bundle for existing Mac users. It is a perfect fit for the Mac mini sitting in my stereo cabinet connected to my TV.
    2) Assuming that Photobooth only works with an iSight camera, then why not offer it as a free download for all customers who already have iSights? Presumably it wouldn't do anyone without an iSight any good - right? It should then be packaged with all iSights as a standard part of the package.
If you can't do (1), then at least issue an update to Tiger (10.4.3 for example) that includes Front Row built in with the ability to drive it from a Bluetooth keyboard or mouse? Then offer the Apple Remote with a USB receiver later...
It's so obvious I can't believe it wasn't done today...

  • Does the ipod universal dock need power?

I have an ipod universal dock which I'm trying to connect to a video projector using s-video. Do I need to supply power to the universal dock in order to view videos from my 30GB ipod? onto my projection screen.

    Hi,
I do not have the universal dock, so I am not 100% sure, if from what I read from the following link
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=300251#tv
It seems that you do not need the power supply to the universal dock, however, if you want to use the remote control of the dock, then you need to connect it either via a computer or iPod ac charger

  • Should i buy he ipod universal dock

should i buy he ipod universal dock, can anyone help me to decide. thanks

Sorry Liam - yes, universal dock is fine, as you get the converter insert with the ipod.
Interestingly, the guy in the shop I went to first (and various people at the mac expo I just went to) said that the 5g dock wasn't available yet. This, naturally, is rubbish - the universal dock fits it just fine.
Sorry - was on my soapbox about the rubbish remote again...

  • S-Video + iPod Universal Dock supposed to work, doesn't

According to this Knowledgebase article, I'm supposed to be able to get video out of my iPod Classic using an iPod Universal Dock and an S-Video cable. (Scroll to the end of the article.) Doesn't work. When I try to play video, the iPod just puts up the "connect a video accessory" nag screen.
The KB article is quite specific about this configuration. Is the article incorrect, or is there some way to make this work that I'm missing?

    I'm having the same problem.

  • IPhone + Apple iPod Universal Dock?

Does anyone know if the iPod Universal Dock is really
compatible with the iPhone? When I plug my iPhone into
the UD it says "This accessory was not made to work with
iPhone" and then proceeds to ask if I want to go into
Airplane mode to reduce audio interference. The actually
"sync" functionality works perfect. Must have something
to do with audio/video output ports on the UD?? Anyone???

I do not have the UD adapter for the iPhone, I just plug
that puppy right in and hope that i don't hit it as it is
only being held up by the connector at the bottom. I've
never had a issue with this and my nano either. I'm too lazy
to use the adapters! But apple does have an adapter for the
    UD right here :

  • IPhone 3G & iPod Universal Dock (Model AA1153)

    Hello all,
I am unable to find any information that states whether or not the iPhone 3G is compatible with iPod Universal Dock (Model # AA1153). I know they have a new(er) version out that has a different Infrared lens on the front, but mine is about a year old and has a round lens.
I'm hesitant to plug it in since it is unknown whether or not the dock is compatible or not. Any assistance is greatly appreciated
PS: Also, can you charge the iPhone 3G w/ firewire? I have a few spare iPod firewire power bricks and dock cables..

    Thanks!
This is the dock adapter I was going to buy...

Here's why I ask... When I popped my iPhone on the dock, it said that was not compatible with this accessory..

  • Does the iPod Universal Dock work with the Apple Component AV Cable?

I have the iPod Universal Dock (MA045G/A) and the Apple Component AV Cable (MB128LL/B)...the ones in the original black packaging.
I had wanted to connect either my Nano 3G or my iTouch 1G to my TV, but neither would work through the docking station with the AV cable. Both did work when I tried not using the dock and connected both the Nano and the iTouch directly into the AV Cable.
My dock works great on my Computer, and I tried a second dock (same model) that I had into the TV with the AV cable and it still did not see the connection.
Is my particular iPod Universal Dock NOT COMPATIBLE with this Apple Component AV Cable (or for that matter, the Composite AV Cable-MB129LL/B)?
It's not a big deal since both do work with the AV cable by itself...it's just annoying I can't use the dock...

Are you sure it is genuine Apple cable? If you bought it on eBay or non-authorized Apple dealer it probably isn't. If it is a genuine cable, it is defective, and should be returned.
When a working genuine Apple A/V cable is plugged into iPhone, a popup appears asking if you want to enable the TV output. Since you are not getting this popup, your cable is bad.

  • Ipod universal dock and remote doesnt work!!!!!

I'm fairly new to the whole apple and ipod thing, i bought an ipod nano last week and bought a universal dock with remote today (proper apple one), but the menu button on the remote doesnt work(it does on the ipod itself but thats not the point) so i cant go 'back' from an album i'm playing to find another one i want to play. the volume works fine as does the track back and forth and play pause. But my menu button on the remote doesnt work, this is incredibly frustrating!!!!!
    Can anyone help?
one more thing it's not a fault with the remote as my brother has a mac mini with a remote which works fine with his, but the menu button again isnt recognised on my dock!

If you read the manual, you'll see that the menu button is for other devices, but not our Nano's. Apple doesn't make this clear on it's website, IMO. Had I known this, I would not have bought a u-dock. Plus, when my Nano is docked, I can't use the lower 1/3 of the wheel, as the Nano sits too low for my fingers to reach. It's going back to the store next week.

  • Menu Button issue with the iPod Universal Dock with Remote

What is the status of a firmware release to address the inability of the Apple Remote to mimic the menu button on the iPod?
Is it even possible to update the firmware to provide this functionality? What is the hold up? I am boycotting further hardware purchases until this is taken care of or Apple accept s a return of my Universal Dock, Remote, Second power brick, Firewire cable, and AV cable.
It is shameful for Apple to have sold these items and not made it clear that the menu button may as well be a sticker.

  • Cabling from Apple Universal Dock to TV (with iPhone)

    Folks,
I am well able to get video signal from my iPhone sitting in my Apple Universal Dock to TV sets (and yes I am using Apple's Composite cable) but audio signal just doesn't come through using this cabling system. When I plug in an additional cable from the roung separatel "LINE OUT" port in the Apple Universal Dock and plug other end of that Y-cable into the audio in ports on the TV, I get the audio.
I thought the whole idea of using the "component" cable (yellow going into the yellow video port on the TV, red and white going into their respective audio ports on the TV) that the entire video and audio signals were sent out the long'ish horizontal connector from behind the dock and funneled into the red, white, and yellow connectors on the component cable's other end thus making it unnecessary to use both the "line out" port on the dock in addition to the long white horizontal plug.
What is up here and is there such a thing as one cable that has on one end the long white horizontal type plug as well as a line out plug and on the other end the red, yellow, and white plugs that go into the TV? There is none on the Apple site - just the COMPOSITE cable which is for TVs (the newest types) that offer essentially 5 ports - 3 for just video and 2 for audio.
What IS the correct way the user is supposed to be doing this????

I saw the Chart, I got the same problem as last year when I had my iPhone 3G 16GB. Apple NEVER SOLVE the issue and simply put the iPhone 3G being supported in the chart. It's not hard for them to add the 3GS for the next printed update.
Very dissappointed with Apple on the universal dock and AV component cable combo. They are not cheap either!
Anyone knows how can I connect the iPhone 3GS to computer monitor or projector just like what they did in WDC?

  • What is included in the "iPod Universal Dock Adapter 3-Pack for iPod touch (4th generation)"?

What's in the box? Is it a small dock you can rest and charge your iPod on, or is it simply an adapter for the £50 Apple Universal Dock?
    Please reply I'm really confused!

It's only a few adapaters so your iPod can sit and rest properly on Apple's Universal dock.
