Unplanned Assets depreciation not fully depreciated

Dear all
I tried to manually fully depreciate 3 assets on the 02.03.2011
215513, 224082, 217200  (SAP: Europe R/3 production)
Some amounts remained in the schedule
Regards,
Narasimha Rao

Hello,
Unplanned depreciation will get posted at the month end; when you will post the depreciation through AFAB.
1. ABAA - Unplanned depreciation: Post on asset for the current period
2.AFAB - Run depreciation: Month end activity
After you run the t-code AFAB then the unplanned depreciation will be posted to the asset.
Thanks

  • AW01N - Asset Not Fully Depreciated, Only till 2014

    Dear Gurus,
There was an asset created in 2010 with the useful life of 10 years. I.e the asset should fully depreciated in 2020. When I look at AW01N, Comparison tab, it shows the planned depreciatation of 4 years only. the asset only depreciates upto 2014 (it does not fully depreciate).
I looked into the FYV which is as well defined beyond 2014. Please let me know if there is any configuration missing.
    Thanks

    Hi Priya
It makes my belief stronger that the World is going to end soon.. SAP has also realized it... :).
Jokes apart, does your Multi Level Method (AFAMA / AFAMS)has "rem life" indicator ticked.... If yes, then the present behaviour is not justified unless and until
    a. you have posted any Unplanned dep and hence, the total dep till 2014 equals the APC Value of the asset, or
    b. you have specified any change over method in your Dep Key or
    c. you have specified any Cut off value Key in your dep key / Scrap Value in the Asset Master
Does, any of these reasons hold good?

  • Assets Not Fully Depreciating

    Hi -
Does anyone know of a report that will identify assets that will not fully depreciate based on their current keys and expired useful lives?
    Thanks,
    Lynne

    Hi Lynne,
you mean, a report that will identify assets that will not depfeciate to zero because of
    - depr. key in combination witrh useful liefe
    - Memo value
    etc.?
No, there is no report for this purpose.
    Perhaps RASIMU* could help you.

  • How do you list fully Depreciated Assets in SAP?

    Hi experts:
My client has some assets that are fully depreciated in reality. The client has created a fully depreciated asset in newly configured SAP system. She wants the asset to be listed in SAP as fully depreciated and depreciation should not be recalculated again. How do I configure to achieve this?
Thanks so much for your help!
    QuinB.

Check the base method you have used in the Depr keys. Follow the below path:
IMG-> Asset Acctng ->Depreciation-> Valuation Methods-> Depreciation Key-> Calculation Methods-> Define Base Methods.
Ensure that the field "Dep.below NBValue zero" is marked No. This will restrict your system to post the Depr till it is equal to APC and not beyond that.
Please check your fully depreciated asset under AW01N, see whether the planned values is zero or not. If it is zero, then your configuration settings is correct. But still check it out and confirm yourself.

  • Fully depreciated asset list

    Hello,
How can i get a list of the assets that are fully depreciated?
    Thanks!

    Hi Lidya,
I did not completely understand the problem and the objective for which you'd need such a report.
However, S_ALR_87012936 (Depreciation Simulation) is one report that we generally use for determing the depreciation amount expected to be posted.
If this is not useful for your purpose, wud request to slightly elaborate on your requirements.
    Thanks n Regards,

  • How to extend the life of a fully depreciated asset?

    Dear all,
Can anyone help? Is it possible to extend the life of an asset that was fully depreciated in Dec 2010? If no, is there any workaround you can recommend?
    Thank you.

You can change it manually in the asset master. This will update the Depreciation calculation for the next Posting Run according to the Depreciation Key defined in the Asset master
    Hope this helps

  • Updating fully depreciated assets during creation of subsequent depreciation area

I am subsequently adding multiple depreciation areas in SAP. The system has been live for many years with a legacy system handling the depreciation for the tax books via dual maintenance.  I have been able to bring in the new areas via AFBN without issue except for one thing.  Many of these assets are fully depreciated in Book01 in SAP but they have remaining tax life. The problem is when the asset is fully depreciated and I assign it cost or try to make a change in the depreciation area tab it automatically fully depreciates those values.
Has anyone ran into this before? What options are there to provide a solution?
To recap; Want to add tax book values to assets already live in SAP. Issue is assets already fully depreciated. Any adjustment to keys and UL on them results in a calculation but regardless it fully depreciates whatever that amount will be.
    Many thanks,
    Jack

    Hi Jack,
I suppose, there are some settings somewhere, which do not allow the asset to have values.
    Presumption:
    1) AFAMA - Base method -Treatment of end of life: In the depreciation key: there is not "dep. after pland. life end"  allowed
    2) In OADB there are wrong settings (perhaps no positive acquisition values allowed)
    3) Perhaps this is constitutional area and in OADB there is rule for the derived area which is broken.
    Best regards Bernhard

  • How to handle a fully depreciated asset that has been brought back to life?

I have an old fully depreciated asset(from the 1990s) that has been brought back to life and has new cost to add to it.
The fixed asset master data looks like this:
    Capitalization date: 01.01.1998
    Historic APC: 0
    Acquisition value: X
    NBV: 0
    Ordinary depreciation: X
Depreciation tab - no planned depreciation(for current fiscal year).
Now I want to add the new cost Y to it. I add a subsequent acquisition but the planned depreciation (on the Depreciation tab) is not what I expect. I can't figure out how it is getting that amount. Calculation should be Y / Useful life starting 1st day of current period.
The depreciation type setup is NBV / Rem life, straight line depr, prorata temporis.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

Okay, I have just realized how the system is calculating depreciation.
    useful life = 36.
There are 3 months left in the current fiscal year. Depreciation is calculated as Y / (36 -9) = one month's depreciation.
Why? Is this correct from accounting point of view? My client expects the calculation to be Y / 36 even though we are in period 10 of the current year.

  • Not posted depreciation for an fixed asset

    Dear SAP Guru's,
I have the following situation at my company:
I have an asset where the first APC value was posted in year 2000. The useful life for this asset was 3 years.
That means in 2003, the asset was fully depreciated.
The problem is that in 2004 it was made again an APC posting on this asset, but nobody has seen that the useful life still ended. Therefore this amount was never planned for depreciation and as consequence it was never depreciated.
Now the problem is that the financial department wanted to retire this asset but they received the error message that they can not retire the asset because there is still value on the asset.
Which options do I have in this case to be able to plan and post the whole remaining depreciation in this month (31.11.2010) in order to do after wards the retirement?
    Thanks,
    Best regards,
    Melitta

    Hi Melitta
    1. Do an un-planned dep posting or
    2. Better and simpler option would be do ABSO using Transaction type 101... You can enter a P&L account of your choice (Which will be Debited) and asset will be receiving the off set posting

  • Additions to existing fully depreciated assets

We have scenario wherein Assets useful life is over but still asset is in use.
Asset is fully depreciated however Gross APC/*** Deprn is shown in books.
Now we would like to make additions to this asset & would like to post Deprn in a normal way as if new asset is created.
Kindly advice as to what will be best practice/steps to be followed in SAP to meet such requirement
    Thanks

    Hi All
want to receive a listing of assets that fully depreciated during 2009.  Do we have any SAP standard report to get this detail.
Is there a transaction available to run this listing?
Your immediate attention would be much appreciated as the auditors want this info immidiately.
    thanks in adv

    Hi,
You can take this one S_ALR_87011963 - ... by Asset Number  and filter all the assets with open zero amount and combine it with this one S_ALR_87012026 - Depreciation Current Year.

  • Depreciation not hitting in Asset

    Hi,
My Plant contact sent me few asset numbers which shows NBV in SAP. But depreciatioin are not getting posted to these assets. While researching I found out that for few assets, scrap value (in Book 01) is more than the current NBV which is a valid reason. For few assets, there is no scrap value mentioned which I don't know, why depreciation is not getting posted in SAP (for few years, depreciation is not posted to these assets). Can someone help me in identifying the issue behind this?
    Thanks,
    Saheer.

    HI ,
    Go to T.code AFAMA Path:Financial Accounting (New)>Asset Accounting>Depreciation>Valuation Methods>Depreciation Key-->Maintain Depreciation Key
    check Depreciation Key
    Thanks,

  • AFAB-Depreciation not posted completely - URGENT

    Hi All,
I tried to execute AFAB and i got an error for 69 assets saying that "depreciation not posted completely". So i tried to repeat run the depreciation and only out of 69 only one asset is only coming into the screen while doing test run. Can any one tell me how to overcome this issue.
I am getting an error  - the message is 'Last posting run terminated (Restart in period 2008 012)'
    Thanks in advance
    Sri

    Hii
U getting this message means when u run depreciation run due to some reason it was terminated and the run was not carried out completely... so due to this basic reason it showing this ,,,,,
for this u need not to do repeat run instead u need to do restart. the option below the repeat run..
Repeat run is used when some additions or adjusments are there after the depreciation run is completed sucessfully...
but in your case i think it was terminated before it was completed sucess fully
so go to AFABN and run restart
i think this will solve ur problem
    thanks
    sejal
