Unplanned automatic failover using Hyper-v Replica , why don't the VMs start up automatically on the replica server?

Hi,
We have cluster with two hosts (Host01 , host02) replicated to another server (Replica01)
in order to test automatic failover to the replica server (Replica01) We unplugged the power cables from Host01 and Host 02
now the VMs on the replica server is still off , why don't the VMs start up automatically on the replica server?

overall there is no automatic failover in Hyper-V
Of course there is. It's enabled by Failover Clustering. This is a totally separate technology from Hyper-V Replica.
There is no automatic start up in Hyper-V Replica because it is not designed to detect a split-brain condition where the same virtual machine is running in multiple locations simultaneously. The replica site has no way to know why it can't reach the primary
system anymore. It might just be because someone unplugged a network cable. If the primary's virtual machines are still running and the replica decides to spin up its copies, you will have many troubles.

Hyper-V Survey: Why do you turn VMs off?

First, why is the survey closed befor it was opened. Or has MS invented a time machine. :-)
Secondly, the survey does not really ask why we shut down VMs. Lots of there great questions, just not that one. :-)

Because something is wrong.
You will need to troubleshoot to find out what needs to be fixed.
One of these suggestions may resolve your trouble.
FaceTime (and other video) quality problems can be caused by problems at either end of the connection. Unless your video callers' FaceTime connections work properly with everyone else but you, both parities to the video call should consider these possibilities.
(1) Restart your iPad and test again. Sometimes a simple restart fixes things.
(2) Use a fast broadband internet connection for best possible FaceTime video.
Broadband speed matters at BOTH ends, so you use something like http://speedtest.net/ to test both ends of your video connections.
Speeds less than 300 Kbps (up and down) at both ends are unlikely to give best results.
(3) Try from a different wi-fi connection.
If the problem is ONLY at your current location, restarting your internet connection may help. Shut down your iPad or turn Airplane Mode "on". Then check your cable connections, restart your modem and wireless access point, reconnect iPad to the wi-fi, and test again.
If the problem remains but ONLY at your current location, there may be a problem with your internet service. Contact your ISP for help.
(4) Always use as much light as possible for best images (including video) from your iPad.

Using the Open button in ACR to get to PS doesn’t create a PSD or a TIF, it just transfers the image in memory.
As has been asked, already, what are the precise steps of your workflow starting with your painting the adjustment brush strokes in ACR and seeing the image in PS without the strokes, and what exact versions of PS and ACR are you using?

There are two ways that should work. When you are in the trash folder, you can swipe on the email in the list - left to right - and a red Delete button should pop up. Or you can select - Edit - at the top of the list of messages and then select the message and tap delete.
Not sure exactly how this works - but if you have restrictions enabled - especially since you let your grandchild use the device - that may be restricting what you can do in the mail app. Go to Settings>General>Restrictions. If you have it set to on - turn it off or see if you have mail restricted.

We are moving our virtualization platform from Citrix's XenServer to Hyper-V on Windows Server 2008 R2. As part of this project I need to migrate, in one form or another, some Debian Linux servers over to Hyper-V. I have successfully built a Debian-based
server on our new Hyper-V platform and I'm beginning to test it.
Debian 6 (Squeeze) uses the 2.6.32 kernel which includes the Hyper-V synthetic drivers, but it is not considered a supported operating guest operating system by Microsoft. I'm a little hesitant in trying to use them unless there's a compelling reason to,
as other folks have had trouble
What advantages do the Hyper-V synthetic drivers offer over the emulated drivers?
For those of you who have experience with the Xen hypervisor, is using the synthetic drivers analgous to para-virtualizing a guest operating system?
Are then any noteworthy dangers or drawbacks of NOT using the synthetic drivers?
Why should I bother to either a) deal with the reported instability of the Hyper-V drivers currently in the kernel, b) try to build a newer kernel, or c) try to make the Virtual Machine Additions work with a distribution
they weren't designed for when everything seems to "just work"?

The synthetic drivers 'talk' more directly to the actual hardware, bypassing most of the hypervisor (for common data operations). This dramatically cuts down on the hypervisor overhead related to most network activity.
If your server doesn't communicate much on the network, or if your hardware is well undercommitted, you should be fine with the emulated drivers. There's definitely a performance penalty for doing this however.

Why don't VIs created from VITs automatically class members if the VIT is a member?

I have an .lvclass that contains a VIT that I use to create methods. The VIT is a member of the class so that it can access the data members. However, the new VIs that I create from the template are not automatically members of the class, so I have to save them and add them to the class when they are complete.
Is there anything I can do to save the extra steps?

Why don't we design radical new controls with the 3D toolkit?

The first time that a saw the open GL toolkit for LabVIEw I thought thats a great new drug. I played around with it but my computer crashed here and than. I could not find the reason why and so I decided to spend more time with it. Some weeks late I found that my graphic card had a problem and that caused the crashes.
My last experiment with the toolkit was a 3D gauge.
While its still not ready it gives a impression what might be possible using this toolkit.
You will find it as a LV 7.1.1 Version in the attachment.
If there are more ppl intersted to develop and design completely new controls than fell free to do so and make the rest of the world envious about the things that are possible using LV. Lets give a chance to everyone using LV to use this new controls.
The first projects could be:
- a better or more complete 3D gauge ;-)
- a cool 3 or more position switch.
- a real advanced thermometer.
- a multi color LED bar.
- a pipe with floating water.
- a cool valve to stop the waterflow.
- a launch button like in a aircraft.
- a animated throttle for ships.
- a gyroscope.
- a artificial horizon.
- or a brand new other thing.
Lets go and give it a chance.

I was looking at your code and thinking about the 512 X 512 limit on the image rendered.
The attached Vi show how a larger image can be rendered by using more than one "Draw Scene".

Why don't providers know if they will have the Pre3

I don’t understand why at this stage in the game the providers don’t know if they will be carrying the Pre3. After calling sprint today I was told only Palm will know who they will offer it to. I have had a Pre since June 09 and have been a supporter of both Palm and Sprint and I would just like a straight answer to my question. Will Sprint have the Pre3?
I don’t understand why loyal paying customers are kept in the dark, everyone now knows the phone will be out this summer. All I want is to start decided if I will stay a customer of Sprint and Palm.

Well, the folks at the carrier responsible for deciding whether or not to take the hardware know, months in advance.
The problem is, the customer support folks, which is who you get when you email/call/chat/etc have no clue.
Best thing to do if you want to see hardware on a carrier is threaten to leave (and mean it, most that do so don't and the carriers know that and quite honestly/frankly the threats to leave mean nothing to them.) if they don't pick up a certain piece of hardware.
For example, personally I've looked into my options and wrote an email to sprint TODAY that if I see the Veer and/or Pre 3 launched on Verizon or AT&T and there's no word on it coming to Sprint at that time I am going to move my FOUR lines and 17yr Sprint account to ATT/VZ. And after seeing the options I'm going to do it. If enough folks did this and mean it... /shrugs I want to think it would make a difference.

Why don't links to LinkedIn send me to the LinkedIn App?

I have the LinkedIn app installed on my iPhone 4, but whenever I click on links in emails from LinkedIn, it sends me to the browser, which then tells me I should install the LinkedIn App.
Does anyone else have this problem? Is there a solution?

Since you say you are new to Apple products, my recommendation is that in the future, you make sure you keep your software updated regularly. If you are now using Mavericks, you can automate that process in System Preferences > App Store by checking all the boxes there. Then you won't even have to think about updates in the future.

Why does my 11x17 spread start printing 6" into the page? HELP!

I am trying to print a book dummy using InDesign. I have set my paper to 11x17. The printer seems like it's about to print and then pulls the page in 6 inches and begins printing 6 inches into the image. I've tried printing something on 11x17 paper in Photoshop and it doesn't do this. In print settings I have paper size Defined by Driver. Can anyone PLEAE help me?

I always play with any equipment I have to work with so if these things come up I can fix them or prevent them come a deadline.I always look online at fourms like this for things I need to figure out to keep up-to-date on what to expect and were to go if I need any help for things I can't figure out.
If the boss or client wonders why I'm not working on his/her project I show them the kind of output/screen representation/error message I get when I try to do something with their setups. All you need in order to get a solid understanding of such is go to a conference or convention and have to help someone give a demo and you are the one setting up the slide show or demo. If you are not totally prepared the worst will happen, inevitably.
In your case you are correct in trying other avenues but you now have a deadline and your only solution is to use the notebook or take the file to a service bureau for output.
