Unplug , then plug in all the time

why do I have to do that everyday to get PC to work? THANKS

I assume that the physical connections you have there is fine, meaning cables are plugged in where they should be.
I suggest you upgrade the firmware of your linksys router. Go to www.linksys.com/kb search for upgrade firmware answer ID.

  • Is it ok to have the iPhone plug in all the time?

Hi all, I remember reading somewhere that it's not healthy for the battery if you keep it plugged in all the time after it's fully charged. What I am worried about is if my phone is low on battery at night and I plug it in, it will be fully charged in about 2-3 hours, but I sleep for an average of 7 hours, is it ok for the battery?
    Thanks,

I have owned the original iPhone, the iPhone 3G and now the iPhone 4 and have always plugged in them in when I have gone to sleep and left them plugged in until I wake up on avg 6-8 hours later. Never, not one time, have I ever had any trouble with the battery on any of the phones. Not sure what Apple says about the subject but this is my experience.

  • Shall I keep power plug on all the time?

Shall I keep power cord plugged on all the time for my MacBook Pro 2011?

You can keep the MBP plugged in whenever possible.
But once or twice a month  you should run it on battery
until battery runs down to about 40%.
    Best.

  • Plugged in all the time?

Just received my new MBP today - upgrade from my mini. It will be sitting on my desk most the time. Is it recommended to leave it plugged in all the time or not?

For the best battery performance it's best you use that and drain it now and again, say once a month. Every 2-3 months you should re-calibrate the Battery.

  • Macbook battery life,  is there a problem If I keep it plugged almost all the time?

    Hello.
New Mac user here, so I was wondering if there's a problem if I keep my MBP plugged all the time.
Most of the time I'm on my room using my MBP fully charged and I don't disconnect it.
Is there a problem with my batter life if I do that?
Or it's recommended to unplug and use it till the battery run off and then charge it again?
Because I work a lot on my MBP and that way in a simple day I could charge it and run uff the energy of the battery 2 to 3 times at day.
What's better for the life of my battery?
And if you could give me some advices to maintenance my battery and Macbook pro (also programs) I would appreciate it.
    I own a Macbook Pro 13-inch, Mid 2012
    2.9 GHz Intel Core i7
    8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Intel HD Graphics 4000 1024 MB
    With OS X 10.9
    Thanks

No. I do that most of the time.  Perhaps monthly I discharge it to the 40% level to keep the battery happy.  Do not discharge the battery completely.  If you are forced to use only battery power and you see the battery is low warning terminate your session or plug into AC if you can.

  • Can I leave my mac book air plugged in all the time at work, without damaging the battery?

I know people may have asked this questions many times, however I intend on using my mac book air at work and would like know I I can leave it on powered on in the office and the unplugged at night?. Would it damage my MacBook?

Yes. It will not damage the battery. You do not need to unplug it at night. If you use it from the AC charage all the time, then about once every two months you should use it on battery power until the battery drops below 20%. Then fully recharge the battery after which you should allow the battery to "rest" for about one hour. It is OK to use the computer during that time but do not yet connect the AC adaptor. Follow this practice and your battery should have a good life.

  • HT201250 When using time machine do I need to keep my drive plugged in all the time or can I back up when I wish?

Is it necessary to keep the external drive plugged in at all times?   Or can I unplug it and choose when I wish to back up my system.

No, I do not believe so. Time Machine would keep all those now-deleted files in previous backups, and as time goes by those backups might be deleted if you needed room, but it would still keep one backup from each day in last month, as well as one from each week forever, as long as you don't start running out of room, then just the oldest would be deleted to make room if needed.
I use a backup drive about double the size of my drive to be backed up, so I would guess it will never get to the point where deleted files being replaced by new ones being backed fill up that drive to the point where backups actually have to get deleted.

  • PowerPC apps start then immediately quit all the time...

9 times out of 10 a PowerPC app will start and then immediately quit. This happened with 1 GB RAM and it happens with 2 GB. It has happened since day one and I'm sick of it.
On a daily basis I use Word, Excel, Photoshop CS 2, Quicken 2005, Thoth, and a few other PowerPC apps. I cannot find, or do I want to find alternatives to these apps. I like them.
I've repaired permissions, run Disk Utility, reinstalled the 10.4.7 combo updater, et cetera. Nothing remedies this problem.
What could be causing PowerPC apps to almost never run on my brand new $3000 MBP?

Sorry to hear of problems although you may have to end up purchasing Office for Mac 2004 if you don’t have already, and perhaps newer versions of other software favorites. With newer technology, comes new features and updated software to leverage that new technology.

Now, if we can get Apple to make this forum web site more stable - that would be a true upgrade.

  • How can I configure my Macbook Air to always show the menu bar when in full-screen?  I hate, hate, hate it popping up and then going away all the time.

I cannot find a way to change this in System Preferences.  When I have applications open full screen, my menu bar disappears.  Then when I try to move between tabs, I find it is always popping up & then disappearing.  I really just want to set up my computer so that the menu bar always displays in the foreground. I find this popping up & disappearing intrusive and annoying.  How can I fix this?  I hate, hate, hate this about my MAC...
I have searched the full User Guide, Quick Start Guide, etc.  and cannot find a way to fix this.

Don't use the full screen arrow in the top right corner of the window.  Instead, use the green + in the top left corner.  That takes the window full screen just below the menu bar.

  • Firefox does't open. Task manager tells that F. opens 21676 kB, but then it stops all the times. What is wrong?

I just loaded a new Firefox. It doesn't open.

    Hi pirkkob,
You might want to take a look at the [[Firefox is already running but is not responding]] Knowledge Base article. Another one that might be helpful is the article on [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Firefox-not-start issues starting Firefox]. There is a lot of good information in there.
    Hopefully this helps!

  • Does leaving macbook air on all the time (while plugged in) to download torrents degrade battery life?

Does leaving macbook air on all the time (while plugged in) to download torrents degrade battery life?

You have a lot of things going on here...you are keeping the Air plugged in all the time, you should run on the battery periodically to give it some exercise, you are keeping it on all the time which may be keeping it under constant or near constant load, and you are doing all of that to download pirated content, for which you will get no help on here.

  • Battery plugged all the time ?

If I plugged it to the power and use it all the time ,the battery wont be harm? Or I should remove the battery when I want to plug it to the power and use it ? can you tell me some advice about the battery ? I only know that I should recharge it only if it be under 20%.

  • Can I leave Powerbook on all the time and music pauses when disc ejects.

I have had an imac at home for the last 4 years and always left it asleep when not using it so I could acces my itunes quickly. I have just upgraded to a Pbook G4 17" and am concerned now that I may not be able to leave it on. I read Apples guide to battery use and they say not to leave it plugged in all the time. I thought this was a machine that could be used all the time? Am i safe to leave it plugged in asleep through the day and night with say 3 to 4 hours use in the evening?
Also, when listening to itunes and i eject a disc the music pauses for a moment. I use a G5 at work and my old imac never did this. Someone I work with has the same Pbook but 15" and hers doesnt pause.
Can any one help with these 2 issues? Love my Pbook but these couple of things are taking the shine off it. Thanks for an informative forum.

It is OK to leave your PowerBook on (plugged in) but remember to use your battery once in a while. Lithium-based batteries have to be used. Fully discharging and recharging the battery every two weeks should be OK.
An alternative is removing your battery with a 50% charge. Apple suggests this if you don’t plan on using your battery for more than six months.

  • PSE is crashing - anytime, all the time

I am using PSE9 on Windows 7; have been using the product for about 6 months. Recently added around 100 photos and since then Photoshop crashes all the time and for just about any or no reason at all.  At times the thumbnails in the organizer appear as "disconnected" from their source.  Have had to do all my editing now in PSE7.  Can anyone help me?

  • When I disconnect my iphone 3gs(iOS) from computer, the device disappears from my itunes. This prevents me from doing a wireless sync. how do i fix it so that my device stays on itunes without having to plug it in all the time?

When I disconnect my iphone 3gs(iOS) from computer, the device disappears from my itunes. This prevents me from doing a wireless sync. how do i fix it so that my device stays on itunes without having to plug it in all the time?
it worked the first few times i did it but the next day after i closed out of itunes once, the device only appears when i plug in my phone.

Whenever a menu choice is grayed out, that is because you have Restrictions turned on in Settings.  Be sure to turn it off.
You are confusing an itunes store account with an icloud account.  You two can continue using the same ID for itunes (thus sharing purchased music, apps, etc.), but you really should have separate accounts (different IDs) for icloud, since an account is intended for one user to keep his/her devices in sync.
To create a new icloud account, go to
    http://www.apple.com/icloud/setup/
Then go to Settings>icloud and scroll to the bottom of the screen and tap Delete Account.  (have restrictions turned off)  That will disconnect the device from the account but will not delete data in icloud or other devices.  Then sign in using the new ID.
