Unplugged my iPhone in the middle of a software update-HELP!
I unplugged my iPhone while I was updating the latest software available for the phone on iTunes. Now my phone will not come on, all I see is a graphic with the iTunes symbol and the USB cord (to plug in my phone to iTunes). I do not have iTunes on my work computer. Are my settings lost now? Will I be able to restore my settings when I plug it back up to the computer at home? Please help, I will be devastated if I cannot use my phone...
Well it should NEVER be unplugged when doing something.
It actually had not installed the software at that stage, it had been copied over to the iPhone, it was being checked and then it would be installed.
You need to connect your iPhone to the computer at home and hope that you can install the software again and then restore your backup.
If you install iTunes at work you may be able to Restore the software but you will most likely lose the content on your iPhone as you do not have a backup to restore on that computer, or all your media / apps.

My iMac will not boot up after a software update. the screen is all whute will show a grey apple in the middle and will look like it is working but nothing happens; this can go on forever.
Does anyone have any suggestions?Do you have a backup in the form of a bootable clone or Time Machine? Restore that and then try the update again.

Another option might be to download the standalone from Apple Downloads on another Mac and try installing it in Firewire Target Disk Mode to the Mac that was interrupted during the update.

You should be able to reinstall OS X using OS X Recovery or in the case of an older MacBook Air running Snow Leopard, by using your original System Install DVD and Remote Install OS X from another Mac.
Reinstalling OS X does not erase your user accounts or data.

Follow the instructions in the article. When you connect your phone again, you may have to press both the home and sleep/wake buttons until the Apple logo reappears, then continue pressing the home button until iTunes detects the phone in recovery mode. -

Try plugging it up to your computer and launching iTunes and either resetting it to factory settings or resetting to last sync. Hopefully it just noticing it's plugged up to iTunes will fix it. This happened to my friend once and all she had to do was plug it into her computer and that fixed it.

I bought new i phone 5 3 days back, after that asked for new update which is 6.1.4, after updating my iphone i am not able to use cellular data services. I called up data provider, they says its the problem with new software update. There is no option add APN. Now when i switch to safari its showing you are not subscribed for cellular data. But I am able to use data on other phone.
Will you please help me in this regard?

In the middle of downloading an update for garage band and lost the connection, now the app won't open or finish the download. Can I reinstall the app without losing my music?
The obvious way to resolve this on a computer would be to uninstall the app, then reinstall it, however on an iOS device that would cause all the data assoicated with the app to be thrown away.
Make sure your iTunes library has the latest updates for all your apps, then backup and restore the device. This should pull back a fresh copy of the app from your iTunes library and then give it the data from your device backup.

There was a new piece of iOS malware discovered recently, but it, like all other known iOS malware, requires that the device be jailbroken. If your iOS device isn't jailbroken, there's no known malware capable of infecting it. -

Dear Terence, Thank you for responding to my problem. In no way did I mean to discredit the dedication and work of the volunteers assisting Apple customers and if I did, I apologize. I am just so tired of having to purchase a new computer every other year as so it seems. I know they are not perfected, but it is very frustrating when they just go kaput. I am always the first person to appreciate a kind deed and do appreciate your support and help regarding this unfortunate issue. The option to update without the computer (Over the air) was made available with iOS 5. If your iDevice is using a version of iOS lower than 5, you will need to use iTunes on your syncing computer to perform the upgrade. Use the Apple link below as a guide for the upgrade.
