i am new to having an ipod and clueless and trying to learn.
i had two tv shows on my ipod that i bought from itunes and my ipod was unplugged without disconnecting first. the video and tv shows option does not show on my menus anymore. one of the shows shows in a playlist but only plays audio. my playlists are all messed up.
i am currently visiting family and don't have my itunes to set up everything again. do i need to reset the ipod? i am worried i messed up the video player since it doesn't even show it as an option anymore.
any advice would be greatly appreciated.

easiest way to fix this is to restore the ipod with the ipod updater. it will erase everything on the ipod, and once itunes recognizes it, it will copy all your music and videos back on.

You can't force Firefox to use a different video player. You can long press on the video to either play it full screen or save it.

How disable the full screen option in the standard or wireframe video player ?

I was wondering if (and how) it's possible to just disable the full screen option in the controls that appear below the video player (standard or wireframe).

I don't think so from within Flash Catalyst. That is all part of the component. I took a quick look at the docs, and did not see that element at as a parameter. There are only two options I can think of: either build a custom controller in Flash Catalyst (which may not have all the same functionality as the stock controller) or take your project into Flash Builder and modify the controller skin there.

Latest update removed tv shows options from video player

Hi just did the update last night, went into video player to download some tv shows but now the option is gone. Only have store, film, rentals, and music video.
Any ideas on where it has gone?
Last update deleted my music, now this? Thinking our next purchase may no be apple if this continues! And we have been all apple for the last 10 years!

Also discovered that the films that are still there won't play too. Did a reset of settings still no good.

Want to select which video player to use. FF22 mobile has no "options" in the tools

only get default video. Neither settings nor tools in ff has an option to change this. app manager says ff is using the default. I have Dice video player, MX video player, and android stock video player but I'm constrained to using ff's default.
I'm using a Samsung galaxy note 10.1 with 4.1.2 jelly bean and ff 22.
i don't care for flash but just FYI the site you provide for Adobe to download an older version of flash does not work for this mobile device.

You can download and save the video by long tapping on the playing video to open it in a 3rd party player.
We are not going to embed 3rd party video players inside Firefox. That would be plugin behavior (like Flash) the web is moving away from that sort of behavior.

I have a Dynadock connected to a other notebook with Vista Business 32bit, and quite often I get the following error witout touching cables/connectors or anything that should cause this:

It's no way of getting the the dynadock up again without restarting the PC, which is really timeconsuming. I've reinstalled the drivers several times. TOSUSBSvr.exe and TOSUSBSvrCtrl.exe seems to be ver 2.0.0.0.
Any suggestions? As it is now, it's less work plugging/unplugging 7 different cables to the laptop than using the dynadock.

Thanks for replying. Yes, I've tried several USB-ports, and no, I've not jiggled the cables/coonectors. Using all equipment connected directly til the PC (forgot to mention, it's a Dell Vostro 1700, about 1.5 years old), everything works nicely.
The reason for buying the Dynadock was to eliminate connecting 4 different + extra monitor to the laptop everytime I use the laptop at my office.
I've already spent more than 4 hours downloading new drivers, uninstalling old, installing new, and seeking for errors.
The conclusion sad to say, is that the Toshiba Dynadock is not working stable on my laptop.

Video player - bug(?)

I'm almost finishing a project (on CS5.5) and I started inserting some videos wich have the default properties (I only changed the wireframe to standard, the letterbox to none and I set the videos to auto play).
I had done this before and everything was perfect, untill now.
When I run the project and go to the video's state, shows up in the middle of the screen a shape with the video comands (play, pause, etc...) without anything else, before I actually start seeing the video. When the video starts it disappears, but it shouldn't be there anyway.
I've already checked the layers and there's nothing wrong with them. I don't know if it helps to know, but the videos are inserted in sub-states...
What is the best solution to this problem?

Because I am in the US where v21 firmware hasn't been released yet, I cannot upgrade. However after posting that message, two updates to FlashLite have been downloaded to my phone and that may have improved playback for me. I can now put the video on the link above in full screen mode. The usability of the controls in the player is terrible because the buttons are so small and even with the stylus trying to control the volume is next to impossible.
Anyway for now it seems my problem has been resolved even without a firmware upgrade, but possibly due to the FlashLite upgrade. Thanks for your message.

Vlc video player and wifi switcher on my n900. Gre...

I have just installed Vlc video player on my n900 that seems to play most things that I throw at it but it has the added advantage of expanding the video to fullscreen. This cuts off a little of the outside edge but well worth it for fullscreen viewing. Good to have as another media player on the phone.
Other great download is "wifi switcher" app that turns wifi on and off (not otherwise possible on n900) saves a lot of battery drainage, really noticeable.
Someone else might find these downloads useful.

As far as the VLC app . I downloaded the app from a link on the gerrymoth site and he gives instructions how to do this.
He also gives instructions how to create the" traffic cone" icon for VLC so that it can be accessed through the nokia apps screen. Otherwise it only seems possible to be able to start it it via the n900 root command. You need to be careful to type the commands he gives exactly in the root with all relevant gaps etc. He has three lines of commands and you have to press enter after each line , when done icon appears after phone is rebooted. Beforehand I downloaded xtreme app that takes you to the root of the n900.
When VLC is opened access options at top (blue triangle) ,open film from whereever it is stored and choose video preferences . Mine seems, by default to be on "autoscale video" that I uncheck and choose 2:1 double option with nothing else checked. When the film is playing all controls and options can be accessed by double tapping screen and to make them disappear double tap again.
I have kmplayer but unless I am missing something it does not seem to have a zoom function, if so can you tell me where.

thanks for your tip. I didn't get around to trying it, as I have just solved the problem:
Unless I misunderstand how things are supposed to work, I think I also might have found a bug (or at a minimum an usability issue):
When I talked about having relaxed all the local storage settings in my original post, I meant that in the System Preferences / Flash Player / Storage pane I had set "Allow sites to save information on this computer". I also had done some experimention around the "Ask me" and "Settings by Site" options - all without success. I had navigated to that pane by right-clicking on "Global Settings" from the non-working video players.
However, just now I discovered the following: When I navigate to http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager03.htm l (the embedded Global Storage Settings Panel) I found that in fact "Allow third-party Flash content to store date on your computer" was disabled all along!
So effectively, the System Preferences Pane and the Global Settings Manager were not in sync / had conflicting settings and it looks like the Global Settings Manager took precedence. When I enabled local storage in the Global settings manager, things started working immediately.
This is extremely easily reproducable by the way: Just change some settings in the Global Settings Manager and then right click "Global Settings" within it and the Preference Pane coming up will be in conflict with the settings manager.
(Even if this is somehow by design, its quite confusing)
Hope this helps future readers with the same issue. Also, this is an issue in 11.3 Beta 2, so maybe your teams can still fix this for 11.3

Error message: "Attempt to capture video without a video device selected."

When trying to log and capture, I'm receiving the following error message: "Attempt to capture video without a video device selected. Please select a video device in your capture presents and try again."
In Capture Presents under DV NTSC 48 kHz it says "WARNING: Video Device DV Video is missing."
An attempt to edit the Capture Preset gives me QuickTime Video Setting Digitzer options of only "[missing] DV Video."
This happened only after I upgraded to Tiger. I know Log and Capture is recognizing the camera because it's showing the timecodes, but not the image. Any help would be most appreciated.

This reminds me of a problem with the QuickTime install. Try this - remove all the QuickTime associated .pkg files from /Library/Receipts, then go to http://www.quicktime.com and download the full installer and do a complete install.

How can i make RealPlayer the default video player?

I use safari 3.0.4
When it accesses sites containing video, it plays it in Flash (eg YouTube)
How do I get safari to use realplayer instead? (Even my Firefox 2.0 uses flash) (I have RP 10)
I am teaching a course in media literacy and show some of the uploaded old tv commercials to my students. i want to show next year's class some of the same commercials, so i want to save the ones I find this year while they're available.
At school, I work on a pc, and it plays video back in RealPlayer which gives me a 'download' option, so i can save these commercials.
But when i find good clips at home, on my mac, all I can do is note the urls, then do it all again at school to get to them to download. it would be much easier if i could download them as I find them, then take them to school on my portable drive.
any solution?

RealPlayer v. 11.0.0 (may still be in beta) now includes that Downloader - a very useful item!
It is a free download but they will ask for money in July. Must be why they call it RealPlayer Plus!

I have had it for a couple of weeks and have had no problems.
As for making RealPlayer the default video player, IMO that is not a good idea. There is a lot of stuff out there that RealPlayer would not be able to handle.
These are the downloads and the settings you need in order to view/hear pretty much everything that the net can throw at you: The setup described below has proved repeatedly successful on both PPC and Intel macs, but nothing in life carries a guarantee!
It is known to work in the great majority of cases with Safari 3.0.4, QT 7.3 or 7.4 and OS 10.4.11. (If you are running Leopard, ensure that all plug-ins have been updated for OS 10.5.2, but please see my footnote).
Assuming you already run Tiger versions OS 10.4.9 or above (this has not yet been verified with Leopard) and have Quicktime 7.2 or above, and are using Safari 2 or 3, download and install (or re-install even if you already had them) the latest versions, suitable for your flavor of Mac, of:

Adobe FlashPlayer should first be uninstalled using the appropriate uninstaller available here: http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=tn_14157&sliceId=2 and then the latest version obtained from here: http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1ProdVersion=ShockwaveFlash and installed.
(You can check here: http://www.adobe.com/products/flash/about/ to see which version you should install for your Mac and OS, but please see my footnote if you are running Leopard.)
In earlier versions than QT 7.1.3 in Quicktime Preferences, under advanced, UNcheck Enable Flash, and under Mime settings/Miscellananeous only check Quicktime HTML (QHTM).
You should also ensure, if you are running Tiger 10.4.11 or Leopard, that you have downloaded and installed the correct version for your Mac of Security Update 2007-009.1.1, which also deals with the Quicktime/Flash issues you may have experienced, such as the '?'. What happened was that both Quicktime as well as Adobe FlashPlayer tried to play the Flash video at the same time. This no longer happens. (N.B. Security Update 2007-009 1.1 requires both a restart and a permission repair.)
If you get problems with viewing video on a website try moving this file to your Desktop:
Hard drive/Library/Internet Plug-Ins/QuickTime Plugin.webplugin
and then restarting Safari. If all now works, you can trash that file.
In Macintosh HD/Library/Quicktime/ delete any files relating to DivX (Perian already has them). However it should be noted that Perian is not an internet plugin and will not play DivX files imbedded on a website. For that you will need the DivX Player browser plugin available from http://www.divx.com/divx/mac/
Now go to Safari Preferences/Security, and tick the boxes under Web Content (all 4 of them) to enable Java.
Lastly open Audio Midi Setup (which you will find in the Utilities Folder of your Applications Folder) and click on Audio Devices. Make sure that both Audio Input and Audio Output, under Format, are set to 44100 Hz, and that you have selected 'Built in Audio'.
Important: Now repair permissions and restart.
You should also consider having the free VLC Player from http://www.videolan.org/ in your armory, as this plays almost anything that DVD Player might not.

If you are running Leopard:
Some users have mentioned that the latest Flash Player (v.9.0.115.0) conflicts with Leopard, and that they have needed to revert to v. 9.0.47. This can be downloaded from here:

How can I remove a video player?

Hi, awhile back I installed a video player, that I can't even remember the name of now, and it plays all my video's being watched over the web with this player now, it does give me the option to use original player, but you have to be lightning quick to click it and even then sometimes it won't. Its driving me nuts! I hate it! Can anyone tell me please how to maybe find this program and delete it. And what is the default video player on the Mac supposed to be?
