Unplugging Battery Before Its Fully Charged

I was just wondering is it ok to unplug the touch before the battery is fully charged? Reason I'm asking is because my touch was plugged in and my computer shut down on me and it stopped charging.
And also I've read some stuff on the internet that said you can't replace the battery. I understand the owner can't replace it but can you send it in to apple to have it replaced? And if so about how much do you think this would cost?
Thanks guys.

it's completly safe to do it.
as far as I know there are battery-replacements made by apple. but considering that your battery might be screwed in 2 years from now and that a battery replacement costs something around $120 (I heard) I don't know if it's really worth it. but that's just stuff I heard, I don't know if this is true.

does my mac use the AC adapter as the power source when its plugged in and the battery is full? is it smart to enough to split?

The charging circuit charges until the battery reaches 100%, then shuts down the charging and goes to powering mode.  When the battery charge trickles down to 93-95% the charging circuit starts again and tops up the battery.  Will continue to operate like that if you leave it plugged in.  Keeping it plugged in does not harm the battery or risk overcharging.

  • My macbook pro shuts down when I turn it on, its fully charged but shuts down automatically when I turn it on, how do I solve this?

I have the older 2008 version of the Macbook Pro and since Friday when I closed it and opend it again the screen wouldn't come back on and I'd have to press down the power button and restart the machine again completely. Then when I turned it on it would sound like its powering up but after three seconds it would make the bleeping sound and shut down again, its fully charged and I have taken the battery out and put it back in but nothing is changing, is there a way to solve this problem?

If it sounds like a RAM issue it could be one of the RAM chips has failed. You could try removing the RAM one at a time and see if it starts with one still installed.

  • My phone turned its self off for about 10 minutes, when it came back on it went from 84% to 18%. When I put in on the charger it shows the plug symbol as if its fully charged but the phone stays at 18%, and now it won't turn on.

My phone turned its self off for about 10 minutes, when it came back on it went from 84% to 18%. When I put in on the charger it shows the plug symbol as if its fully charged but the phone stays at 18%. Over time the battery dropped, but it went from 18, to 9, 3, then 1, and every time I put it on the charger it doesn't actually charge. Now my phone is off and it will not turn on.

I'd suggest taking it to apple. Warranty or no warranty.

    Try:

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • MacBook Pro battery. 98% fully charged

    Hello everybody!
I have a little "problem". I have my MacBook pro connected to the ac almost all the time... I use to charge the battery every 2 days to maintain the battery life excellent. The problem is that every time I turn off the Mac the battery indicates 99% fully charged, 98% fully charged (I didn't experienced less than 98% fully charged).
    What is going on? :-D
    Thanks!
    Andrea

But.... what the heck is this problem?
There may not be a problem. For example, you can't "top off" a lithium-ion battery. They need to be charged in a very specific way, and a side effect of that is as it gets closer to 100% a charger starts to back off, and when it's close to 100% it may wait until it's down further before finishing it off. See:
    http://batteryuniversity.com/partone-12.htm
To avoid seeing 99% I changed my battery display from Percent to Time Remaining.
And for what it's worth, I've seen this on Windows laptops too. Makes sense...they use the same type of battery.

  • ITouch says its fully charged when its empty

Ok so I plug in my ipod because its in the red. It makes the bloop charging noise, but the battery has the fully charged 100% plug icon! and it doesnt seem to charge just drains and dies. Sometimes it charges and sometimes it doesnt, but today it did not at all and even though it was plugged in, it ran out of battery and is now dead. Wont even turn on Help? Or is it gone for good

Hi. A reset may help. Push and hold the Sleep/On/Off button and the Home button for approximately 10-15 seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Release buttons.

  • Is it OK to keep your power plugged in when its fully charged (green light)

SO i was wonder if its ok if i keep my macbook white plugged in to power when its fully charged (light on your charger goes green) or should i recharge it again when battery level goes to 10-20% again?
I am worried because for some reason its making me think that if i keep it plugged in it can damage to battery?

SO i was wonder if its ok if i keep my macbook white plugged in to power when its fully charge
Perfectly safe, nothing bad will happen to your mac if you run it off the plug after the batter reaches 100%

  • How many hours does a brand new battery last after fully charged. I have a late 2008 Macbook Pro.

How many hours does a brand new battery last after fully charged. I have a late 2008 Macbook Pro.

clintonfrombirmingham is right, there is no way to exactly tell. But from personal experience, a new battery on a 2008 will last for about 2 1/2 hours with a higher screen brightness and doing something taxing to the battery (like gaming or running lots of 3D programs). But if you're just listening to music with the brightness all the way down, and no programs running, you could get up to 12 hours. So for average use, it should last you a whole business day (assuming you don't use it more than 30% 0f the time). Hope this kind of gives you more of an idea of what to expect:)
