Unplumb net0 in public network, the HA NFS service didn't failover

I have two node consisting the cluster 4.1. I set up the NFS service on the cluster, as below.

The NFS service is on sgh28h13 originally. sgh28h13 has one interface net0 in public network for this service. So I use "ifconfig unplumb net0" to shutdown net0 so the NFS service could failover to the other node. But the service is still online on sgh28h13 after I shutdown the net0 and sc_ipmp0. I don't know why the NFS service didn't failover. Could somebody help?

Hi.
IPMP not triggered on change or misconfigured configuration. You change configuration, so change configuration of IPMP to.
So cluster not trigered on this event.
In case you test failover for lost netowrk connections - initiate link down from switch side or just disconnect cable.

  • I'm trying to log into a public network and while the fan blade shows I have a connection I can not get the user agreement to load in Safari. This was working until yesterday, what changed?

I've reset my network settings. I've cleared cache and cookies in the browser. Before yesterday the login screen would appear anytime I attempted to use an app or program that required internet access. Pretty much every program. Now I have a brick tablet at work. I've reset everything I can find. I'm at a dead end.
I've seen other ipads that had the auto login togle and auto join togle under network selection, my ipad does not have those options. Logging in at home is working fine on my private network. This public network is not being reset or forgotten when I choose "forget network" or Safari is blocking the login page and I don't know how to un block it.

Well, when I join a public wifi, a log in page displays a few seconds later, displaying the user agreement. But, earlier today, I was trying to connect my friend's 3GS to a public wifi, and it did not show up. So. I don't really know what happen. I think you should toggle the auto Join to on.

  • Firefox does not automatically load nor find the login page for a public network (i.e. username and password)

To log in on a public network without a password-key (not secured), a user login is required.
After connecting to the network, the browser, upon opening it, normally automatically loads the login page, in order to enter a username and password and connect to the internet.
Firefox doesn't find the login page automatically, so I need to switch to google Chrome just to log in to the network.
Does this have anything to do with user settings in the options of firefox?
    Any ideas?
    thx!

    Hi,
You can try setting the login page as the [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/How%20to%20set%20the%20home%20page Home page] and choose to '''Show my home page''' beside '''When Firefox starts:'''.
Alternatively, and/or to preserve your current settings you could also pin it as an always present one-click away [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/what-are-app-tabs App tab].

  • Accessing the Internet when there is no public network available

I currently have access to a public AirPort network but will be moving to an area where there is no public network. Do I need more software to create my own network ID? I read in the documentation with the AirPort Extreme disk that I may be able to use the AirPort with some ISP's. Is there a comprehensive list of ISP's who support AirPort? Thanks.

What I'm looking for is more specifc information: do I need more software (base station?
Your Mac is already set as far as software to support wireless Internet access. As a minimum, you will need either an wireless Internet gateway or an Internet modem & wireless router. Most Internet Service Providers (ISPs) offer these with their service.
and how do I determine if an ISP will accommodate my wireless needs (i.e. what question do I ask them before signing up)
Depending on where you live, ISPs can offer a number of Internet access services: ADSL/DSL, Cable, Satellite, or Wide-Area Wireless (usually found in rural areas). Performance, and cost, will vary and is usually quite competitive, especially in high traffic areas in major cities.
The first thing is to establish your requirements:
    - What will you be using the Internet for? Basic needs like web surfing and/or email, or more advanced needs like running a business commerce site (like Amazon for example)? This will define your data rate requirements.
    - Cost: How much are you willing to spend monthly for Internet access? This will set a boundary on what services will be available (cost-wise) to you.
    - Local Area Network (LAN) requirements: Will you only be connecting a single computer to the Internet (or one computer at) or will you need to have multiple computers connected at the same time? Do you want both wired and wireless access? Do you plan on using the Internet for "Massive Online Gaming?" If you will have a multiple computer access need, does the ISP provide (or support) a NAT/DHCP-enabled router (which allows you to "share" the single IP address, provided by the ISP, amongst those computers) or will they require you to pay extra for multiple computer access?
The second thing is to determine the available ISPs for your area. The following website could go a long way in helping you answer that question.

  • RAC - pulling the public network connector

    Hallo,
would be really good to get an answer for this case:
What is the expected behaviour of the instance if i pull out the network connector of the public network.
In our case the instance of that node is reacting with an automatic shutdown abort.
Is that ok ? We want to have a running AS on top of the RAC so if there are network problems the whole AS would crash if the instance disappears in the back.
    Thx for clarification
    Jochen

The Oracle Clusterware requires that each node be connected to a private network by way of a private interconnect.
The private interconnect that Oracle Clusterware requires is a separate network that you configure between the cluster nodes. This interconnect, which is required by RAC, can be the same network that the clusterware uses, but the interconnect should not be accessible by nodes that are not part of the cluster.
So unless you do not use your public network as part of the private network (which is a contradiction) and both networks use the same protocols you will not have Oracle Clusterware use the "public/private" network link. It was just not registered with Oracle Clusterware during installation.
Correct me if I am wrong ...

  • Client for NFS fails to restart - Event ID: 16387 - Windows(R) failed a request to initialize the Network File System (NFS) redirector

I have seen this issue out there in a few threads but a definitive solution has not been posted by Microsoft that I can find. So here is the simple answer. The long answer why this doesn't work on a default install of MSNFS is going to have to come from
Microsoft and should be in the form of a hotfix.
    Problem Description
On boot, Client for NFS starts and remains running. If an attempt is made to restart the service from the MMC or nfsadmin, an error occurs and nfsclnt fails to start.

Windows may be low on system resources.  Try increasing available system resources by closing programs, then start Client for NFS manually.

PROBLEM CAUSED BY: When shutting down Client for NFS using the Services GUI, Client for NFS Redirector is not shut down
SOLUTION: Stop NFS Redirector - 'sc stop NfsRdr' - Then start NFS client service - 'nfsadmin start client'
Use 'nfsadmin client stop' to correctly shut down both the Client for NFS service and the Client for NFS Redirector.
'Network File System (NFS) redirector' is actually "Client for NFS Redirector" and not listed as a service even though "Client for NFS" requires it.
Using 'sc', details on the hidden NfsRdr system component can be queried and then used to stop the redirector so that nfsclnt.exe can reload it on start up using the Services GUI.

  • VPN Connection Seen As Public Network In Windows 8.1 & No Way To Change It?

    Hello,
I have a perfectly working VPN setup in Windows 7 however since I have got a Windows 8 computer and subsequently upgraded it to 8.1 when I connect to the VPN it assigns the connection as Public and I cannot view any of the network shares.
As I understand it, in Windows 8 you could go into the network section of Change PC Settings, right click over the VPN and enable sharing which would convert the public network type to private however there is no longer this option to enable sharing in 8.1
So I'm left with having to disable the public firewall and then connect to the VPN where it works perfectly but is a bit of a pain.
I'm hoping someone can help me to change the network type of the VPN connection from Public to Private, unfortunately the laptop runs Windows 8.1 Home Premium so I do not have access to gpedit.msc
    Hope someone can help.
    Regards,
    Mike

    Hi Mike,
Based on my knowledge, we can use the following method to change the network type of connection from Public to Private.
Set Network to be Private in Windows 8 and 8.1 in Registry
1.Press Win + R keys to open the Run dialog, type regedit, and press Enter.
2.In Registry Editor, navigate to the location below:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\NetworkList\Profiles
3.Expand Profiles, click on each long GUID number subkey, and look at its PofileName string value in the right pane to see if it has the current network name (ex: Network) until found.
4.When you find the correct PofileName for your network name, double click/tap on the Category DWORD value in the same right pane to modify it.
5.Type in a new Data value number for the network location you want, and click/tap on OK.
    Network location      Data value
    Public                                0
    Private                             1
    Domain                            2
6.When finished, please reboot your computer.
    Hope this helps.

  • Satellite L650-11R - not able to connect to public networks

    Hello there.
Although I am very pleased with my laptop, I have one problem. I am not able to connect to public networks using ethernet cable at some location (not everywhere) Users with different laptops have no problem connecting to the same networks that I cannot, so I'm guessing the problem is my laptop.
I always get "unidentified network" error. I tried replacing the cable but the problem still remains.
    Any suggestions?

Hi everybody, I have the same problem which happened with united & for the same product Satellite L650-1HR & also using default Toshiba OS, Windows 7 home premium.
from my home I can't connect to internet & always get "unidentified network" error also I tried replacing the cable but the problem still remains. only at my home & the same cable working properly with any other Laptop without any problem, outside home internet working properly without any problem.
I tried all ways, turned off firewall & the DHCP is already enabled, but I'm getting message telling that " the local aria connection does not have a veiled IP configuration"
    So what do you think?

  • IP Address conflict on public networks

On several public networks I use regularly on travel, my new MBP with SL 10.6.1 connects fine but cannot access the Internet. Error messages are:
    1. another computer using the same IP address (most often)
    2. connection timeout
    3. MBP has the self-assigned IP address and cannot connect (second most often)
I renew DHCP often, turn Airport on and off, reboot, and have tried moving the System Configuration folder to the desktop and rebooting. No dice unless I manage to beat some other computer to the IP address, then it works for a brief moment before losing it and giving me one of the above errors.
I can't mess with router settings. These are all public or business networks that allow freelancers to connect with or without a password (though I can't get that far). I travel for work, and all of these networks work fine with my 12" PB running Tiger.
At one network, the staff I know tried rebooting their router multiple times for me and other Mac users. It didn't work. The last time I was there, seven people on Macs were getting the same errors. Three PCs were working fine. I know one of the 7 Macs was also using SL, but I don't know about the others.
    Any ideas?

You can't install Tiger on new machines.
In fact, you cannot install an operating system version older than that your Mac originally shipped with as it will lack the proper drivers for the new Mac's hardware:

    Are connections frozen, actives?
Can the users continue to use theses existing connections using the another node of RAC?
I know that the listener goes down and any other connections is allowed.

You should spend some time in a test lab where you can test this stuff for yourself. Read the documentation and there are tons of sites out there that purport to have all of your RAC/TAF/FAN/FAF questions. - I would read and trust the documentation first.

To date, the iPad/iPad mini/iPhone/iPod Touch produces have remained secure.
In a public place, you do not control the network, so be careful of what activities you perform, such as accessing your bank, or other sensitive places.

We just found out that somehow the communication between the database and central instance has been changed to talk over the public network instead of the private network.
