Unprotect a .dir file

i work for a media company and i am trying to open a .dir
file with director mx. but it keeps telling me that the file is
protected. how can i open the file and retreave the data??

If it says it is protected, then you can probably not get
into it. dir
files are not protected. What probably happened is that
someone
protected the file (made it dxr or dcr) and then renamed it
back to
.dir. If you do not have access to the actual unprotected
sourc file,
then you will most likely not be able to get into it. You can
try to
get some of the assets out of it by opening it as a MIAW, but
you will
most likely not be able to get any scripts.

  • How to make DIR # = File # in SAP PLM ?

    Hi Friends,
Here is one scenario. I have a ProE file say ABC.prt. When I try to Check in through CAD VIEW, It wil generate DIR number as per the Doc Type. Is it possible to generate the DIR# equal to PROE File name, I mean DIR# ABC ?
I tried entering parameter DOCUMENTNUMBER and some name say ABC123 in the parameter of Proe file, modified the below in CDESK Configurations  in Document Data ( for attribute data, Determination type and Determination paramaters) for particular CAD System but still am not able to acheive the same.
         DESCRIPTION----
         File name with Extn.
         DOCUMENTNUMBER----
         File name without Extn
         WSAPPLICATION--       Constant--
    DES
Is this require a Zprogram to be developed or it can be possible in CDESK Settings only ?
I appriciate if someone can make me understand how actually I can achive DIR# = File #.

    Hi,
I am able to solve the above problem with the settingsmentioned in previous thread. Earlier, It was internal number range for that document type hence was generating internal numbers. Once I have selected external number range and given range as AAA-ZZZ , it fetched up the file name ABC from part to assign it to DIR.

  • Projector and dir file size grow 7X unexpectedly - dcr remains the same.

I’m updating a Shockwave project that is also available
for download (so size matters and I’ve got a dcr and exe of
the same project). Last year the file sizes were as follows: dir =
    933kb, dcr = 203kb, exe = 4,857kb … all reasonable. I started
with last year’s file, eliminated numerous redundant scripts
and cast members (including an unused font), combined the
functionality of scripts that were similar, streamlined the
operation of other scripts, updated some internal data, replaced
the one and only bmp with a new one for this year (same size),
saved and compacted … and for all my effort to clean up this
    year’s version I get the following: dir = 33.9Mb, dcr =
224kb, exe = 37.5Mb The xtras are an obvious suspect but I went
down the list and they’re the same as last year, the only
outside xtra being POM (which hasn’t changed since 2006) I
recompiled last year’s project and the sizes were still
reasonable, so Director isn’t broke. Anyone know what's up?
PS: I made a dummy copy of this year's movie, elminated
everything (all sprites, all cast members, all xtras), save and
compact, and the dir file is still 33Mb?!?!?
PPS: Well, I copied everything into a fresh document, spent
about an hour making sure scripts not attached to sprites didn't
get left behind, re-attached the required xtras, and now I'm back
down to a 4.4Mb projector but I'm not sure why.

Thanks Mike. The odd thing is the results above were after a
“save and compact” (as a matter of habit I always
compact). Even with everything stripped out of the file I
couldn’t get Director to jettison whatever garbage had gotten
lodged in. On the plus side, moving the cast and score to a fresh
document not only cured the problem but also allowed me to
eliminate some legacy xtras that were no longer being used (this
project has been updated yearly since 2002).
PS: Flash's memory and file size audit report is really nice
for trouble shooting this kind of problem, it would be nice if
    Director gets the same feature.

  • How do I unprotect my audio files so I can upload them to garage band on my iphone4?

How do I unprotect my audio files so I can upload them to garage band on my iPhone and use them

    Hi Chris,
Format the flash drive in FAT32, save the file as you would normally and transfer it to the flash drive, then the PC. It should work fine unless one of the Word apps is older.

  • When opening DIR files I get a long delay while Director "Builds True Type Fonts"

    Running 11.5 on a Mac OSX 10.6.8
When opening DIR files I get a long delay while Director "Builds True Type Fonts"
Anyone know how to work around this?
I've got all the fonts in my library and embedded in Director.  (Do I need to dump them from my DIR? Dump and reinstall?)

    Two bits of advice:
    1) Pare down your code to no more than 30-50 lines. Enough to compile and show the problem, but not so much as to make our eyes bleed, and for no one to want to read your post or help you.
    2) You would be wise not to state that your problem is "urgent". Even if it is urgent to you, realize that it is not urgent to us. Many here take offense to this as it implies to them that a) the poster thinks that his post is more important than everyone else's, and b) that the poster wants to put pressure on the volunteers who come here to help on their own free time. Just a friendly word of advice.
I'll be happy to help when you've posted a reasonable amount of code. Good luck!

  • Deleted .DIR file

I have misplaced or deleted the original .dir file of a
movie. I do have the proteced copy of a .drx file. Is there a
program or way to convert it back to the .dir file or convert it to
another file type that Director will import and use?

There's a program you can download from
    http://j-roen.blogspot.com/2005/11/diropener.html
that will open your movie. It follows the same process as
    what Sean
outlined. The latest version is for D8.5 though. May still be
    helpful.

  • DIR File Size

I have a DIR file coming in at a massive 280MB!
    yes you heard right, 280MB!
it has approx 150 - 1024x768 images (maybe a little less) all
    alpha fading.
Now I have done the "save as" and the "save and compact"
methods, even gone trough every image and used fireworks to
compress each image down futher, but this only seems to take 1MB
    off the 280MB???
I am just wondering is there anyway I can get the file size
    down?
could I try linking the images and not importing them into
    the DIR file?
any help would be great as im all out of ideas after spending
an hour or two compressing each image!

    1) I suggest putting (a large number of) the images in
    external casts.
    2) When you import an image with compression (like a jpeg
    file) into
Director, it also keeps the uncompressed version (perhaps
    because when D
first came out it was expensive in time for computers to
    uncompress images).
When you create a projector or shockwave movie or protect a
    cast, it
    discards the uncompressed data.
    3) With a file that size, it is definitely a good idea to
    make backups. Do
    one now.

  • How to create DIR/File on a raw device in RAC environment.

    Hi all,
I use a shell script to create DIR and File on a raw device also it creates schema and tablespaces.
I am facing problem in creating DIR and Files on raw device.
One more thing, can multiple tablespaces be created on a raw device.
    Thanks & regards,
    Sanjeev

Thanks for the response. Please help me further.
About the Script - It asks for the path for creating DIR and uses shell command to create DIR. Later same path and DIR name is used to create Oracle DIR. Now in place of absolute path raw device name is passed. The same script is also used for creating tablespaces and schema.
There is second script that is .sql script that creates external table in the newly created schema. All this has been working fine on single instance Oracle server. we have tested many times but fails in RAC environment when we use raw device.
Question is - If I use filesystem will the external table's flat files and Directories be accessible to all the instances.
I have one application written in java that would be clustered and running on these oracle servers. This application would be accessing those external tables and their flat files. Will there be a problem accessing these flat files accross the instances.
    Regards,
    Sanjeev.

  • Unprotect the PDF file Created by Designer 7

Can anyone help me to unprotect the file created by designer 7. I didn't trigger the security features of this program. What happen is that, I already finished the design and already save the file but when I try to use Professional 7 to merge it with my other PDF, the error message appear "The file .....PDF is protected." I'm a first time user of this program.
    Thanks

I have the same problem. I created a form from a pdf file and then wnated to add a page, from another form, as you can do with acrobat and the "insert pages" is grayed out. I tried to create a pdf file by "create pdf...from multiple files" and I get the "this file is protected message. I already tried to unprotect, it was not protected in the first place, and it will not let me do it.
Also if you use the page tab on the left it will not let you delete a page.
    Can anyone help?

  • Show hidden dirs/files on Finder

Sometimes it would be a great help when working via ARD on a server to have access to directories like /etc or /var directly on the Finder.
In order to do so, I currently need to go into the menu line, "Go to"/"Go to folder" and then type in the path.
While this works well, I asked me if there is a more convenient way to show these folders, like when clicking on the harddisk icon.
Is there a way to manage this ?

There is, but it won't do you much good anyway since these directories are
not writable by normal users, so you can't make any changes anyway.
As admin user I have write access to /var/named, for example. This would be helpful for me when managing zone files.
Yes, it asks for my admin password each time when modifying files and at some dirs I have no access overall.
Okay, having other users at the server would be one point, at they have only limited ftp access to certain branches of the directory tree, so they not play a role. Anyway, thanks for noting me about (I not thought about this).
defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles -bool TRUE
Simply being typed in at terminal's command prompt ?

  • How can i grep "wrong" dirs/files [SOLVED]

im tryin to write a little bash line or script.
it should manage to list all contents recursively of a directory and grep and print all files that have diffrent permissions as specified, same to dirs.
so i started off, no idea how
    first thing is
ls -laR      ....... ive absolutley no idea how i can start off with scripts like that. dunno where to search or find a good/easy solution to things like that.
plz help me out with my bad scripting knowledge

    hey thx!
yay, this is goin right direction.
    although a
    ls -laR | grep -v -rw-r--r--
    doesn't work :?:
and would be cool, if i can define: "leave dirctories out" or "leave files out"
    s.th. like
    ls -laR | grep -v --without-dirs -rw-r--r--
edit: ok, leaving out directories woulb be with grep-option "-d skip" right?
edit2: want to archive s.th. like this
    ls -laR /mnt/media/Musik/ | grep -d skip -v "-rw-r--r--"
but grep then doesnt work bcoz first thing is a "-" . How to go round this :S

  • Showing dir/file name in FINDER

    Hi,
I'm somewhat of a control freak and have this insane desire to know exactly where things are in my system(s). If I look at a file in the Finder, I usually have no idea what directory I'm in. Is there a way to display the complete path for each file I look at?? I can do it from a terminal session by setting PS1 to echo a pwd, and I'd like the same capability in the aqua interface.
I had something in Panther that did what I needed, but lost the MacAddict article tht told how it was done..
Any suggestions to keep my blood pressure down and less use of my mouse-click hand - I'm getting carpel tunnel.... <G>
    Walt

In Finder, with any window frontmost, choose "Customize Toolbar..." from the View menu. Drag the "Path" tool to the toolbar. This tool produces a popup (pop down, actually) hierarchic list of the window's path all the way back to the Computer. It is primarily for navigation back up the path hierarchy, but also works well as a visual reference.
BTW, with a bit more stress on your carpal tunnels, you can do the same without the tool: Command-click on any Finder's title & a similar pop down list representing its path appears.
You could also go the zero-stress route of using column view, as long as your screen is large enough for the complete path o appear without horizontal scrolling.

  • Toshiba fingerprint utility cannot unprotect file

Im haveing toshiba qosmio x500 win 7 64-bit. my toshiba fingerprint utility was running fine and i had some files protected by fingerprint password. i have the old settings backup file and (.tofp file) and the fingerprint key file (key file)
I recently uninstalled the utility and re-installed it, as it use to sometimes act strange. But after this, even if i import settings from the old backup file, i cannot unprotect the files that were previously protected.
i get the message "You haven't backed up your key yet" (click here to see error http://www.mediafire.com/?qc4t28jv9bjmtm5 )
I have tried exporting the settings again to a new file, but i dont know how to unprotect the old files.
    Please help.

i really do not think you need any other fingerprint files to decrypt your files.  If you used your fingerprint (*by swiping*), you most likely will not need anything else except the software itself that was used to encrypt in the first place.  If you used a file (that is, instead of typing in a password or swiping your fingerprint), you will need that exact version of the file again.  If you swiped your finger, the encryption data is embeded within the file.
Make sure you are swiping the correct finger
I hope the encryption software asked you to swipe a few times to ensure that future swipes can be reproduced by you
Try different angles, speed, starting and ending location of your finger when you swipe
If you are logged on as a different user, the OS (Windows) will do its own encryption on top of your own encryption.  That is unencrypted text file of another user will be encrypted by the OS and will not be accessible by another user.
I really do not think any software will be so dangerously ignorant enough to save the user's fingerprint data into another file then use that and only that to decrypt the files, defeating the purpose of having the correct user to swipe.
The software shoud/may have indications of the software company responsible for the program.  Perhaps one of the programmers may be able to divulge what is needed to decrypt a file
    Best of luck.

  • Dir 11 mis-matched to old dcr file

SOS. I created a web site for a client 2 years ago, with quizzes in Shockwave format. Used Dir MX. All worked. Now they want upgrades to quizzes, so I revised the Dir file with Dir 11, saved as dcr file, and now client gets the error message: "The page you are trying to open contains a movie that is referenced to an incorrect version of the Shockwave player." Dir 11 on Mac does not allow you to specific the Shockwave version. The HTML code is
    <div id="content_lcol">
            <script type="text/javascript">
    AC_SW_RunContent( 'codebase','http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/director/sw.cab#version=3,5,0,0','width' ,'600','height','400','src','animations/quizStaff','pluginspage','http://www.macromedia.co m/shockwave/download/' ); //end AC code

            </object></noscript>
    </div>
I assume its the cab#version line at fault. How do I fix it to say "Shockwave version 11.5"? I tried "version=11,5,0,0", but that didn't work. I'm authoring on Mac, playing back on Windows.
    Any help sincerely appreciated.
    regards, David

    Try:
    classid="clsid:233C1507-6A77-46A4-9443-F871F945D258"
    codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/director/sw.cab#version=11,0,0,0"
I think you'll also need to specify the PlayerVersion (a new tag added to distinguish D11+ content from D10 and earlier - so that the backward compatibility player can load if required or able)
    <param name=PlayerVersion value=11>
    PlayerVersion=11
