Unread e-mail

In the process of purging some e-mail and I want to review all of the unread e-mail in my inbox and folders, too. I could have sworn you used to be able to sort and/or search for unread e-mail. Please help. Thanks.

Home screen notification shows extra unread e-mail...

For the second time, found that the homescreen is displaying 1 unread e-mail even though all the e-mail in my mailboxes are marked as read. This problems seems to occur when I navigate through the application fast, it just can't keep up (not surprising since the application is rather slow in the first place).
The only way I've been able to get rid of this problem is to reinstall the messaging application. Very irritating. Guess it's time go to back to System Seven and hope that Nokia can get its act together. Luckily I anticipated this and didn't uninstall System Seven when I tried messaging again today.

Q: Just as a clarification:
Have you checked if the unread message you refer to is located in another mailbox than the inbox?
It is quite often I have unread messages in my outbox (for a few seconds) or in my sent box (more permanently). For some reason I have to go in and "read" the messages in the sent box to get rid of this marker you are talking about.
I have yet to figure out if there is any structure to why this is happening.

IPhone 4S' Mail's unread e-mail attachments, but where?

Hi!
I am helping a client with his old iPhone 4S' Mail that shows three/3 unread e-mail attachments. So far, he was unable to find them and even tried to delete some unwanted e-mails and read all his e-mail attachments, but Mail still showed 3/three. We tried upgrading iOS v7.1.2 to v8.1.2, but that didn't fix it. We also tried marking all (about ten/10) e-mails with attachments as unread (were already read) and then read, but that did not help.
What could be the problem? From a quick Google search, it seems like it could be a server problem? My client uses both POP3 and IMAP with two different e-mail addresses and providers (USC's Office 365 [IMAP] and EarthLink's e-mail service [POP3 and SMTP].

No Unread mailbox - How to retrieve all unread e-mails like VIP/ Flagged

There is no mailbox named "UNREAD" or other similar name so that on can retrieve all unread email at one palce like VIP/ Flagged folder.
Can you please suggest, how can I retrieve all the unread e-mail on iPhone? ndows Phone provides such option.

Sounds like the email account is a POP account and if so, you have 28K emails that remain at the incoming mail server for the account. If all received email has been downloaded with the email client on your computer used for accessing the account, delete all email that remains at the incoming mail server. You can do this via webmail access for the account using a browser on your computer.
Folllow this by deleting and recreating the account on the iPhone.

Syncing read/unread e-mail for a non-mobileme account

While mobileme accounts sync fine. My work account doesn't. So if I use Mail on my iPhone, I have to go through my e-mail twice. Every e-mail on the server is marked as unread so I have hundreds of e-mail waiting to be downloaded to my iPhone.
Is there a way to sync read/unread e-mail for a non-mobileme account?

The reason this is available with your MobileMe account is because your MM account is an IMAP account. An IMAP account is designed for this very thing - accessing an email account with more than one email client on different computers and/or devices keeping all server stored mailboxes for the account synchronized with the server automatically with each email client used to access the account.
The same is available with any IMAP account, and this is supported with an Exchange account accessed via ActiveSync with the iPhone's mail client.
Your work account must be a POP account, which isn't supported with a POP account. Although it is possible to access a POP account with more than one email client, a POP
account is designed to be accessed with a single email client only.

Unread Sent Mail?

My sent mail is now being marked as unread. Um, I sent it so of course I didn't read it. Mail just started doing this. Any ideas?

I am using a rule to deal with this problem (first select all sent messages and mark as read, the rule will then work on new messages):
If all the following conditions are met:
Date Sent Is Less Than 1 days old
From Contains youremailaddresss
Message Type is Mail
Perform the following actions:
Move Message to mailbox Sent
Mark as Read

How to keep emails unread on Mail even if I read them on iPhone

I use Mail on my MacBook Air and on my iPhone.
Sometimes at night, during the weekend or holidays, I read my emails on iPhone, which marks them as read. The next time I get to work, they are also marked as read on my MacBook Air. I get the interest of such feature, nonetheless; for my use (and my bad memory) it is actually a handicap: I need my emails to not be marked on Mail on my MacBook even though I read them on iPhone already. Just so I can go back to them and answer them properly. (For example, if I read them on holidays, weekends, at night etc... and they are not urgent I don't answer right away but wait to be back at the office: and it then becomes impossible to remember everything if they are marked as read).

Fonts Become Unreadable in Mail after 10.4.11 Update - How can I fix this?

Just ran the 10.4.11 update and now my fonts are messed up in Apple Mail. 2nd machine to get this problem. The message was fine this morning before the update, and now the characters are the same, but in a different encoding or something. The message is unreadable.
I have no clue how this happened or how to fix it. Any suggestions appreciated (short of a system reinstall - I really hate that a lot!).

I originally upgrade to leopard, from a faultless system.. then a complete format/reinstall to 10.4.11 and now this.

i just solve this problem with this method：
1）go in the mailbox that show many unread mail
2）press edit
3）press remark all at the left bottom and choose mark as unread
4）press edit again
4）press again remark all at left bottom and choose Mark As Read
5) Go out to Mailbox
now all the notifications gone.^^
sometime if ur mailbox mail too many，u need to repeat the step 2-3times，but sure can solve this

Messages automatically marked as read in yahoo and unread in Mail

I typically use yahoo.com to view/read my yahoo mail, but I would like the option of viewing in Mail as well. However, when I launch my Mail account, all messages remain "unread" (whether I've read them or not in yahoo.com). And when I go to my yahoo.com account after opening Mail, all messages (whether I've read them or not in Mail) are automatically marked as "read". This is extremely frustrating as I would like both Mail and yahoo.com to reflect read and unread emails appropriately.
I do not have this problem when I use the Mail app on my iPhone.

UPDATE: In addition to all mail being marked as "unread" in yahoo.com, most messages older than a few days old are also deleted. They still appear in Mail, but I need to read them in yahoo.com as well. In addition, Mail does not contain the folders from yahoo.com, so all messages appear in Mail as one big "unread" mess in my inbox. Again, these issues are not a problem with the iPhone app. Thank you!

IMAP read gmail on iphone showing up as unread in Mail

I have gmail set up as IMAP on both my phone and my laptop. Anything I read on the phone is showing up as unread on the laptop. Most folks suggest switching to IMAP but they are both that from the start. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Perhaps double check that it's actually set up as an IMAP account on Apple Mail? I know that sounds redundant, but if you select "Automatically set up account" in Apple Mail, Gmail is set up as a POP account.
I had the same problem, and discovered that Apple Mail had my Gmail as POP.

Read email on iPhone but unread on mail on iMac

Generally I check my email on the go on my iphone. When I go on my iMac and open up mail all the emails I have read pop up as unread and this is very annoying especially when I have lots of emails. This is through an email account which is @live.co.uk

If that's the case, sounds like you have POP accounts set up (or 1 device may be set up as POP). Is that correct? If so, see if they have any preference setting you can make to mark message as read when downloaded to any device, but not remove from the server per your timeframe settings. You would need to set that on both devices if possible. I don't have any POP account set up, so I cant verify the setting.
