Unread mail badge not updating

Hi,
today I started using iCloud email.
I configured my new account on my iPhone 4 (iOS 5), on my iPad 2 (iOS 5) and on my Mac (10.7.2).
If I receive an email it is correctly pushed to all my devices and unread badge updates accordingly.
But if I read this email from my Mac badge continues to show I have an unread email.

I hope it is not true because it would be very annoying.

Just solved this problem with Apple. On all your iOS devices >preferences>icloud>storage & backup>
Turn on iCloud backup - this forces the sync
I had turned this off because I didn't want to use up storage but if I continue to backup to my computer it won't use up valuable space on icloud for this and my devices email now stay in sync.
Not a very clear way to solve this issue but it works.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of this exercise is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login. Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Be sure your Mac is shut down.
Press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key. The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple icon and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on some Macs.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem(s)?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode.)

You have to open Mail. The reason is unknown now, but Apple can add it in an update soon

Mail icon not updating to reflect number of unread email in sub-folders

Hi all,
I have a problem with the default mail program on the iPhone, OS3.0.
If you have sub-folders on an exchange server and set for them to be pushed under the "Mail folders to push" setting, email appears on the phone and it even give you your chosen email alert sound. However the number of unread emails is not reflected on the icon of the mail program.
Is there a fix for this?

As neuroanatonist wrote, I think this is linked to Apple Mail (whether iPhone or desktop) focusing only on the inbox(es) for tallying up the number of unread mail, and notifying the user accordingly.

Unread Mail Badge showing as a "Letter"

For some odd reason, Mail on my home Mac (Dual 867 G4 - MDD) has started displaying my unread mail indicator with a single letter, like the letter "D" for 1 unread or the letter "F" for 4 unread. This is occuring in both my Dock mail icon "badge" and in my mailbox sidebar.
Very odd. I am running Font Agent Pro 3.0.1 but I am not managing System Fonts with it.
Anyone heard of this before?

Unread Mail Badge Count Incorrect

Since I installed IOS 8.2 my email icon is showing I have 40,202 unread emails when there is none. It also keeps kicking me out of the app at times. I have deleted the mail account, shut off ipad and re added the mail account and the unread number of 40,202 comes back.
I have also turned the account off, shut the ipad down, turned the account back on and the 40,202 is back !!!

What is probably happening is that the iPad gets the Notification with the right number of unread messages and will sit there. It will not update that number until it is either given updated information, or you open the Mail app in which case it checks.
Meanwhile, back at the ranch, someone opens mail on the Mac and reads the emails. The status of the number of unread items changes but the iPad does not get an update as you possibly don't have Push and Notifications set correctly.

Exchange mail does not update

I've update my mac to 10.8.3, but the exchange 2007 mail does not correctly update. I have to close mail and restart it, then the emails wil update.
Does anyone have this problem as well?

Same continuing problem.
The simplest solution is to delete the mailbox and reinstall.
Not ideal.
It will be correct in knowing which emails are read or not, but it just doesn't remove emails on the N8 that have been deleted on the web page on the laptop.

Mail logs not updating

I have updated amavisd-new, ClamAV, and SpamAssassin as per OSX.TopicDesk's instructions but my logs in Server Admin and Console do not appear to be updating although mail is still working.

You mentioned something about amavisd.conf is this why they logs are not updating and if so how do amavisd to log in the right place?

I just updated my Hotmail account to the new Microsoft outlook but now looks like my Mac's application on my Mac will not update, and then it keeps asking me for my password than I type it in correctly and it says it's incorrect please try again when I go on the Internet it lets me in me and wants happening

are the ports and encryption type set acording to the mail provider?
if no test if it works with wifi because if it does then your carrier are blocking the ports required for receiving imap mail from the mail provider in question

if not update in your version create OSS message against SAP.

HRALXSYNC must synchronise your data check box as user flag = user name who wants to update the email data.

Mail box not updating inbox

I have gmail set as my mail preference in mail and it's not updating the inbox. I'm wondering if and how I can reset the gmail account. Can someone also tell me if what's the purpose of recovery folder. It is full of the same message over and over.

If you mean you want to rebuild your mailbox, that's at the bottom of the Mailbox menu. If you mean you want to delete and reconfigure your Gmail account, that's in Mail>Preferences>Accounts. As for your Recovery folder, I've never seen that on my Mail, but it sounds like your Mail tried to salvage a corrupted message.

SMS badge not updating

Since I upgraded to 2.0 and lost iSMS, my SMS badge won't update any more.

I have the same problem with iPhone 5 (with iOS 6 and now with iOS 7). I used to have an iPhone 4G and relied heavily on the reminders app..now I'm afraid to. They used to work great on my iPhone 4G. A reminder would come due and whether I opened the reminder app to view it or not..there was ALWAYS a badge on my reminders app to remind me that a task was past due (until I completed or deleted it). That was perfect as I sometimes could perform the task at that specific time..but other times had to perform it later. Either way..there was a badge there to remind me that I missed a reminder.
I've only seen a badge or two appear since getting an iPhone 5..I continually missed my reminders. The notification appears on the screen as it should. But typically I dismiss it, tell myself I'll get to it in a bit, and unlock the phone later for some other reason. Then I forget to perform the task as there is no reminder badge on the app.
When I contacted Apple and placed a trouble ticket, the Tech advised me I should restore the phone to factory settings..removing all 3rd party apps. Then she said I should install the 3rd party apps one at a time until I found the one that was causing the badges not to appear on the reminders app. She then told me if that didn't solve the problem to call her back and she would refer it to another department.
Knowing this wouldn't work, but willing to try anything to get the badges to again appear on my reminders app..I did as the Tech requested. After wasting a couple of hours of my life and restoring the phone to factory settings, I tried the reminders app to see if badges would in fact appear after a task was past due. I did this before installing ANY 3rd party apps. Guess what..no badges.
So I called the Tech back, referenced my ticket #, and left a voicemail message. That was well over a year ago. I never heard back..nor have I ever seen an update to correct the bug. I just quit relying on the reminders..what a shame.

Apple Mail is not updating mail automatically on my Imac.

Before I updated to Maverick, Mail would update every time I woke it up by touching the mouse or any key. Now since updating, I must click on the envelope button to get my new mail. Why?
Also just recently my Magic Mouse won't scroll on the Mail page. I have to use Arrow Keys to go from one email to the next week. It works properly on all other areas.

yes it is. I just rebooted and that fixed the mouse issue. I will see what happens with mail. It updates as long as I am on the computer it is just when it comes out of sleep mode.
