Unread message flashing indicator timeout?

Hi,
I was looking for an answer to this question through  various searches on the internet, and was hoping that maybe someone here could help.  When I receive a new message, I my phone (on the normal setting) displays a flashing red led to let me know that I have a new, unread message.  However, after about 5 minutes or so, the led stops blinking.  Is this normal?  Is there some way to set the led to keep blinking until the message has been read?
I'm also having another issue where certain messages (such as password reminders from this site) are being received but seem to be automatically set to 'read' and shown as open as soon as I receive them.  Therefore, I don't get a new message indicator or a red blinking led.  That might be the topic of another post...
Thank you!

The LED fuction is normal. I notice that mine stops blinking anywhere from 5-15 mins. You can try using a program called BBAlerts

Not sure about the second problem. Are the messages coming from the same accoun/email address?

  • How do i clear unread messages indicated as 10 unread.  all messages have been read.

I have no blue dots next to any messages in all my mailboxes.  I have read all messages and i see All Inboxes (10)  as though there are 10 unread messages.  how can i clear the 10?

Well, you can try restoring your iPad then.  Note this process will remove all messages from all your email accounts on the iPad, but if you're OK with that:
Plug your iPad into your computer and sync with iTunes.  Then, while you have your iPad's row selected on the left, click the "Restore" button on the right.

  • No unread message indicator.

Hi,I have some suggestions for Unread Messages / Links, sometimes piling up. At bottom of each Text Message a yellow or green colored button of "Read" may be given. Now, it is duty of user to click this button after reading Message. After clicking, this button will convert into any other color.   After clicking a Link by user, its Blue color may get any other color. These are suggestions only and, in light of above, I am sure Skype will adopt its own best. M. Well, I have no idea how I didn't find this before. It is, for once, not actually Microsoft's fault! \o/

  • Message waiting indicator isn't going away

    Hello everyone,
I am having a problem.  My email indicator light won't go off.  I have deleted all email messages from both folders and in fact deleted all messages from all folders and yet I still apparently have an email message that is unread.
I have gone so far as to delete the email accounts and reset them and still the indicator is there.  Thankfully there is no flashing light, but it is still annoying to see the email indicator.
I am now utterly confused as to what to do now.  Can someone help me?
    Thanks so much!!

    Some thoughts.
    Have you hidden a message?
Rather than use the BB, have you gone to your email itself - eg Gmail - and had a look for any unread messages.
Have you set "on Conflicts" to "Mailbox Wins"
    Hope thats a start.

  • E71: Unread messages counter does not go beyond 99

The count of unread messages on the main screen of my E71 has remained at 99 despite the countless messages i've been receiving and not reading..I was puzzled by this and got down to counting my unread messages.. the number was 115..and i'm getting more messages by the minute..but the main screen cheerfully flashes the number "99"!

I'd just like to add that this continnues to happen even after installing Spotify on a newly formatted machine. The Messages indicator inside the app also still says "1", not just the desktop icon. Something tells me that this is a problem on Spotify's end. Like there's a message that they have flagged in the database as unread, but it isn't being sent to me.

  • How do I make a notification go away after I have read all the messages and it still says that I have an unread message?

My messages app says I have an unread message from someone, but I have no unread messages. How do I make the notification go away?

    Hi,
I have had chats/conversations that have shown the blue "unread" indicator which goes if you reselect the chat but appears again when you select another Chat.
I have also had the red Unread number indicator showing on the Dock icon badge as a separate issue.
This second I have resolved in Force Quitting the DOCK in Activity Monitor ( I will use Terminal but prefer an User Interface option).
The first I tend to solve by dismissing that particular Chat/Conversation.
As you have tried the DOCK reset method by both the recommended methods of doing so I would try a PRAM/NVRAM reset.
Restart the Mac holding down the CMD+ALT+P+R keys all at the same time until you have heard three Start up Bongs.
You can then let the Start up Continue.

  • E71 Reminders on missed calls, unread messages

Hi all I wonder if you know how to do this. I had a motorola v3 before I bought the E71. This old motorola used to beep every so often whenever there was a missed call or an unread message. This was very useful since if you happen to be away from your phone and then return you would know that you received something.
Does anyone know whether the same can be done on the e71, and if yes how?

    this application is available
http://www.softwaremarket.nokia.com/?action=productDetails&pID=5502&uaid=309&lang=en there is a breathing light on the phone that gives an extra flash for missed calls or unread textthe option to turn the breathing light on and off can be found in the profile settings
go to menu > tools > profiles > select a profile > options > personalise > breathing light
If  i have helped at all a click on the white star below would be nice thanks.

  • Mail: wrong unread messages count – fix instead of workaround?

hello. Although I welcome the idea to set up an unread mails smart folder in addressing this issue (http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=5857003&#5857003, http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=5657501&#5657501 etc.), I'd consider this a workaround rather than a fix. The real problem seems to be that mail no longer displays the unread messages in the inbox, account box, mailbox … as it should. Is there an actual fix to that? Like setting back some cache file or something (hope apple will have that solved in the next update)?
    best
    n.

Wow. That was swift. Hello Pascal.
and you have indeed chosen the "inbox" option for dock unread count in mail>preferences>general?
yes. Then it disappears, and reappears as I set it back to all mailboxes—but this should work with all mailboxes, shouldnt't it?
and you have created a smart mailbox to hunt down unread emails and mark them as read?
yes, of course. That's a good workaround. But it's a workaround, not a fix. There were unread mails in one of the mailboxes, and they should have been indicated as such, as they indeed usually are. But sometimes aren't.
if you have done both of these i would suggest a couple of things:
    1) quit mail, reboot, launch mail again, see if that solves the issue, if not then,
    done that
    2) get rid of the current icon on the dock, go to the applications folder, select mail.app and drag a fresh icon to the dock, see if that solves the issue, if not then
It doesn't. It's not just the dock, it's also the application switcher (the one you get holding cmd-tab)
    3) make sure you have back ups of your mailboxes in you have pop accounts especially, then quit mail and trash the com.apple.mail.plist file in homefolder/library/preferences - do note that once you do that you will have to create your email accounts in mail - then launch mail again and recreate your email account(s)
I may do that if it reoccurs too often.
    thanks

  • Count of unread messages in mail?

Mail shows that I have 38 unread messages. I really only have 14. I believe what it is doing is counting the entire string of that e-mail. I'm a freelance designer and use those unread messages as a to-do-list. It's difficult to gauge how much work I've got in front of me if that unread message number is so skewed. How can I get it to read just 1 message as 1 message? I'm in Lion.

Thank you Ernie. I am embarassed a little. When I followed your directions I discovered that there was another mbox in my confirmations mail box. The unread messages were accumulating in IT. I had somehow inadvertently moved it there in my attempts to get a more rational ordering of the mailboxes than the one Mail uses by default. I have finally resorted to putting a letter in front of the mail box name to enforce the ordering I want in spite of whether it makes any sense. If I had paid more attention I would have noticed that the folder was sprouting the symbol indicating that subfolders were present.
My problems is solved. Not a bug --just a stupid user.

  • Wrong number of unread messages N9

One of POP3 accounts is misinformation about the number of unread messages. Where this information is stored and if we can change it.
I have 0 messages in this box, but in accounts screen in Fenix i have 1 unread. Some days ago i try to delete one unread message, but meanwhile my PC e-mail client just downloaded and deleted the message from server.
So i need to know where in OS is stored this information and, if possible, to change it.

Thanks for those thoughts BDAqua. I forgot to mention that I had done the usual disk repairs and permission repairs, and also trashed the Mail cache folder and EnvelopIndex file. I've even re-installed Mac OSX.4.11 Combo updater to no avail.
Here's another weird clue, as I realise it's occuring on all mailboxes:
I should preface this by saying that incoming mail gets routed via Mail rules to various mailboxes.
If I finish reading all the new mail in (say) my "Business" mailbox, its new mail indicator count disappears, as it should.
If I then click on my "Family" mailbox which might indicate 5 unread messages, the "Business" mailbox will then indicate 5 - it indicates whatever the unread number is in the mailbox I've just clicked on!
If I click back to "Business", Mail realises there are actually no unread messages and the count disappears again, but if I click back to "Family" it goes back up to 5 (or however many are unread in "Family" - or whichever mailbox I click on next.)
    Very odd.

  • My messages say there is 68 unread messages when in reality there are none?!

Messages say there is unread messages but there are none!/.\

I typed unread in the searchbox and none came up. The icon displays a red 2 indicating I have 2 unread messages.

  • Mail says I have 5 unread messages, and yet I do not.

Just updated my iPhone 5 to iOS 7, and the software seems to think that I have 5 unread messages. I tried running through all the mail, restarted it, and then hard reset it. Still shows 5 unread. Any suggestions?

I had the same issue.  Turns out I had my mac open and the mail was being pulled there but not on my phone.  I deleted the messages on my mac and the indicator went away.  It could be a bug, I would submit feedback if that is the case http://www.apple.com/feedback/.  That is probably what I will do.

  • Unread message essage badge error

My stock message app and notification centre are both indicating that I have 1 unread text message. A little yellow number '1' badge is showing on my message app icon on my home screen, and also my notification centre says 'New Message' ..... but I have read AND deleted ALL my messages! Is this a software fault? I have tried deleting message data, cache and removing the app icon from my home screen but this error will not go away... Please help.

In case you have this issue first try the following:
    1. Switch to Hangouts for SMS (Hangouts -> Settings -> SMS -> SMS disabled.
    2. Check so that you don't have any unread messages in Hangouts.
    3. Go to Settings -> Apps -> All -> Messaging -> Clear data -> OK (this will not delete your messages).
    4. Now open Messaging and confirm that you want to use it as your messaging app.
In case this doesn't help, make a backup of your messages using PC Companion or a backup application from Google Play. Then download this app and delete all SMS/MMS using it, restart your phone and then restore your backup.
