Unread messages issue (drafts, sent, and rules)

Out of nowhere (but after apple updated MobileMe mail) I've been getting messages that were successfully sent added to my drafts folder and marked unread. This is also happening with sent messages. Why would sent messages ever be unread?
Also, I've got a rule transfers a number of messages to a specific mailbox and marks them as read. Its working fine up to the "mark as read" instruction. I've deleted and re-added that instruction to no avail.
This is all with a MobileMe address. No other addresses are having this problem.
Anyone else have this happening?

I have same problem - keeps showing sent items as unread on both .me & other IMAP account - Mobileme sync or Mail issue??

This can be resolved by selecting the affected messages, then marking them all as read at once.

Roadrunner is POP email, and the feature you are looking for
is a function of IMAP email. Roadrunner has not announced
any plans to make IMAP available. If this is important to you,
get a gmail account (which can be setup as IMAP) and configure
your Roadrunner account to automatically forward emails to the
gmail account.

Try ejecting your iphone from iTunes and then close iTunes. Now retry. Hope this helps.

This is with iMessages only.
Go to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive and below the Start New Conversations From, select your cell phone number instead of your Apple ID email address.

TS4002 When sending messages from iCloud on PC keeps telling me "message not sent" when message has been sent and keeps message as draft. Help please.

Everytime I send a message from iCloud on my desktop PC it states that message cannot be send at this time. However when I look at sent folder, message has been sent. Also message appears also under draft folder. This only happens on dektop. No issues on any of the iOS devices. Please help. Thanks

If you still have a backup from that point in time as part ofr your computer backup history, you could restore the backup folder, restore the phone from that backup and have the messages on the phone.

Two issues: photo sig and rules box

Hi,
Just purchased a MacBook, set up my e-mail accounts, started sending some messages and realized, to my horror, that the photo taken of me during setup is showing up in the header of all my outgoing e-mails. How do I get rid of this function?
I'm guessing by going to Preferences and changing some setting in Signatures. But when I go to Preferences, all I get is the Rules dialogue box. Tried several times, even quit the program and restarted, but still get the Rules box only when I click on Preferences.
Any thoughts?

When you go into Mail's preferences, you should have several icons along the top of that window: General, Accounts, Junk Mail, Fonts & Colors, Viewing, Composing, Signatures, and Rules. If you have installed any third-party Mail plug-in bundles, like GPG-Mail, you may have additional icons visible there as well. Click on one of those icons, and a different configuration panel appears in the preferences window. Are you saying all you have is a "Rules" icon being displayed along the top of Mail's preferences' window? Or no icon displayed at all? Coz' if that's the case, something ain't right.

I deleted an unread message from one of my mailboxes on Mail, but even though it deleted the message and I have emptied the trash, it is still telling me I have an unread message. Does anyone know how to get rid of this? I have deleted the account and recreated it. Marked all messages as unread and then read, but still no luck. Can anyone help me?

Messages Issue Across Phone and Macs

iPhone 5 running 8.1.1
iMessage is set to be sent to iPad, 2 iMacs and 1 Macbook air and able to send as SMS
All computers up and running the latest update of Yosemite at 10.10.1
iMac - mid 2007, everything works fine between phone and computer
Macbook - Air - same, everything works fine
iMac - late 2009 - All system preferences are set exactly like the other to Macs, but:
SMS messages won't function properly. All non-message contacts appear with a red background, while on the other two systems, they appear with a green background...
When I text from the phone (which is sitting right next to the computer), the text appears on the Mac, but the contact is still in red (not green) and will say can't send to this contact because it's not iMessage, when I try to reply to it on the Mac.
I hope I was clear and would appreciate any help, thanks.

How can I print out instant messages I've sent and received on my iPhone?

I know I can press the Start and Home button and that will take a snapshot of the message....but that just saves the portion of the message that is currently visible in the screen. If I have a long conversation and want to save and/or print the entire conversation - it there another way to do that? Thanks in advance! P.S. Does the same procedure work on iPad? thanks.

This can happen when multple phones are using the same Apple ID for iMessage. To fix this you have two choices:
On one of the phones go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive, tap the ID, sign out, then sign back in with a different ID (note: you can still share the same ID for purchasing in Settings>iTunes & App Stores); or
On both phones go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive and uncheck the email address(es) shown under "You can be reached by iMessage at".

Droid Maxx- Outgoing email messages stuck in outbox. When you click on them, it says- message is being sent and cannot be opened- how can I clear them out?

This is my work email. I still receive emails. I just can't send any outgoing. They are stuck in the outbox. When I check my email on my computer at work, nothing in the outbox, and they don't show as being sent. Log jam. How can I remove them? Already did a restart, etc.

Unread messages issues

This was happening on my old PB and I've finally upgraded to a MBP w/ Leopard. I love every aspect of it except...
I have multiple emails, all are IMAP (1 .mac, 1 gmail, 2 gmail apps) so there are 4 boxes under Mailboxes. Then there are the expanded folders for each mailbox below. When I read the messages under "Mailboxes" it doesn't mark as read in the expanded boxes. Why does it do that, or rather, it doesn't do that.
Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

It appears to be working as intended. If you don't want people to know that you've read your messages, you can turn that feature off in Settings>Messages.

Yes they'll receive it(unless they have blocked you). Blocking occurs on your end, you won't get calls/SMS's/iMessages from them.

Moving mail users to IMAP from POP. Issues with sent messages disappearing

Our mail server has been working well for several years, running currently on Mac OX 10.4.10 (Xserve G5). All user accounts have always been setup for pop and imap in WGM but we have just recently started to move client settings to IMAP. No changes to the mail settings in server admin except opening the firewall to include port 993 for imap ssl.
The issue is that all users appear to loose the sent mail records when using the apple mail apps. After a message has been sent, the message record stays in the Apple generated sent box for that account and then disappears (presumably after syncing with the server).
The mail app "account" settings shows that sent messages are to be stored on the server and never to be deleted (in mailbox behavior).
If you do a "get info" on the mailbox,sent messages don't show on the server either under "Sent". I also created an additional mailbox "Sent Messages" to be used as sent mailbox location. mailbox shows up on the server, but no mail is added when sent from the apple mail app.
Now, I would have assumed this to be an issue of the client app, but the behavior is consistent across several machines and also on new mail app configurations.
When using Entourage with the same account however, the server works as anticipated and all sent messages are stored on the server (in the "Sent Messages" box). Any Entourage sent messages also show up in the "Sent Messages"mail box of the apple mail apps.
When using iphones, the behavior is somewhat unclear. The iphone mail settings (under advanced) show the "server" selected ("Sent Messages") for sent mail, yet the actual iphone mail app lists that folder as just "Sent". When sending messages, that mailbox shows the Entourage sent messages and iphone sent messages, but the iphone messages never appear on the server.
This only happens on sent messages; inbox, drafts, deleted and junk mail boxes work perfect. This also happen on any imap client account I setup, not just a specific one.
Any suggestions? Any setting I am overlooking? Using Entourage for all users is not an option...

When I had that issue, I tried using Apple Mail app and noticed that Sent Mails are getting lost. Try sending an email using WebMail. You might see similar "Permission Denied" error. Try restarting the server and see if the issue still exists.
