Unread RSS feeds incorrect in Bookmarks bar
Since moving to 10.5 the RSS feed counts in the bookmarks bar is often incorrect. I can read each feed in the pulldown menu and all the numbers for unread feeds are gone in the pulldown, yet, in the bookmarks bar it will say 1, 2, or 3 still to be read.
To clear that number, I select View All RSS Articles, and the number sets to blank. Also, clicking on a feed that I have read and cleared will often clear the unread number to show nothing.
This does not happen every time, but usually at least once a day.
Update to the unread RSS count:
I have discovered that different RSS feeds sometimes do not show that that there are unread feeds. When I go to reading all RSS feed options, I have looked and find what are the unreads. It is always a feed that had not shown it had unread entries when I opened Safari. It seems to usually occur in the first 4 of the 19 feeds in the menu bar. I can go several days with no problems, then other days it happens almost every time I look.

I went from Version 3 to version 4 and when the new app was sarted there was a different toolbar , no bookmarks, no RSS items.
At no time was there an alert or question about dumping the bookmarks , etc. In the past when upgrading to a new version the bookmarks and other settings and profile info was brought forward.
I tried to go back to the older version but could not.Check that you still have the "Bookmarks Toolbar items" placed on the Bookmarks Toolbar
* Make sure that you have the "Bookmarks Toolbar" visible: "View > Toolbars"
* Check in "View > Toolbars > Customize" that the "Bookmarks Toolbar items" is on the Bookmarks Toolbar
* If the "Bookmarks Toolbar items" is not on the Bookmarks Toolbar then drag it back from the Customize window onto the Bookmarks Toolbar
* If you do not see the "Bookmarks Toolbar items" then click the "Restore Default Set" button
Press F10 or press and hold the Alt key down to bring up the "Menu Bar" temporarily.
You can find the RSS feed (Subscribe) button in the toolbar palette in the "View > Toolbars > Customize" window and drag the button on a toolbar. -
EVERY SINGLE RSS FEED displays "Live Bookmark Feed Failed to Load" and then THEY LOAD...
Every single time I add an RSS feed as a live bookmark and view it, the top of the feed list displays a "Live Bookmark Feed Failed to Load" error... Followed by all of the NEWEST entries in that RSS feed.
So why the hell is it saying they failed to load every single time I open a live bookmark when they are actually loading?
I have deleted my live bookmarks and re-added them only to get the same error.
It makes me sad that my favorite web browser is going down the toilet. Won't be more than a month or two before you get taken down by Chrome according to general web trends... Give it a year and if you don't fix all the broken crap in FireFox it will end up as the "NEW IE6" in a year or two...

Unable to delete old rss feeds from live bookmarks
When I subscribe to a news rss feed I find all the news feeds listed under live bookmarks. I'm OK with that, but the problem is after reading them you can't delete the feeds unless you delete the bookmark. So each time I need rss feeds I have to go to the original source which is a waste of time.
I have reverted to Opera browser for news feeds as there is the capability of deleting individual feeds after reading them.
Suggestions please.

GarrySolved: When composing an email and beginning to type an email address, you are prompted with autofillins. There is a small x to the right of the name. If you wish to delete the autofillin, then click on the x and Yahoo will remove it from the options in the future.

RSS Still shows 1 unread article in Bookmarks bar
I have a list of RSS feeds in my Bookmarks bar and for some reason, one particular RSS feed ALWAYS says there is still 1 unread article no matter how many times I load the feed.
The feed is: feed://www.theappleblog.com/feed/atom/Not sure, but I think when that happens it is an article that was not viewed from the previous period, depending on your "Remove articles" settings in Safari Preferences -> RSS.

RSS Feeds wont open in one window anymore
Hi everybody. Got a weird one for you.
I used to be able to "middle click" (clicking my scroll wheel on my logitech mouse) on the "RSS Feeds" in my bookmark bar to view ALL new RSS feeds. That is, when I middle clicked on the "RSS Feeds", the RSS screen would open with ALL new articles on the one page, no matter how many RSS sites I had bookmarked.
For some reason just recently when I middle click the "RSS Feeds", Safari still opens the RSS screen as usual but with none of the NEW RSS feeds. "RSS Feeds" in the bookmarks bar still shows I have unread articles.
I have to open each feed individually. It's a bit of a pain.
I can't seem to find ant articles on this problem. As far as I know I didn't install any new software that would have conflicts with this.

Thanks for that. I probably didn't explain myself very well.
I am happy with the exe files opening in different windows it is
the html files that is the problem. The three menu files are all
html files and it is when moving between these that the multiple
window problem arose. I say 'arose' because following my message I
went back to try yet again and found that if I put all the files on
the CD without any being in a folder AND in the Advanced dialogue
box of the Text Properties - where the Link is defined - clicking
on the 'Apply to All links' button, then the menus actually open
using the same window; or at least, the sub menus do, the Main menu
window remains open with the Main menu in it. I have spent so long
messing around with this that I am going to have to settle for that
outcome I think.

Safari 4 slower loading with RSS feeds
Don't know what happened in Safari 4 (4.0.2), but now it is much slower loading initially because of the way RSS feeds in the bookmarks bar are now being handled. I can not use the browser until all the RSS feeds have been checked. Even when clicking on an RSS item within a particular page such as CNN, the time to open that feed is significantly slower.
There has always been occasional problems with the bookmark bar for RSS feeds showing there are unread feeds, yet nothing shows unread beside the individual feeds. The problem now happens almost every day. The only solution is to choose the view all RSS feeds and find the unread items.
I am also noticing that web page loading is also much slower than it was in 3.x. Get tired of that spinning loading at the right of the address entry bar. The beach ball is more interesting because it is in color.
I have 18 Mbps broadband, so that isn't the problem, as all the slowdowns happened as soon as I started using Safari 4.
So much for snappier loadingI don't understand why you're using Safari for your RSS feeds; it's not an ideal solution compared to a dedicated RSS reader like Vienna, NetNewsWire, or Newsfire; I'd use one of those and turn off RSS feeds in Safari's preferences pane.
But Safari 4 is faster than Safari 3; it isn't for you because of a variety of factors, so let's change them and see if we can't speed things up. Here's what you can do:
Try changing your Network settings to use OpenDNS
Go to ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari and delete the contents of that folder, then use the Get Info panel to Lock the folder.
Go to ~/Library/Caches/Metadata/Safari and delete the contents of that folder, then use the Get Info panel to Lock the folder.
Go to ~/Library/Safari and delete these files:
Downloads.plist
History.plist
LastSession.plist
TopSites.plist (if you don't want to use Top Sites, Lock that file right after you restart.)
WebpageIcons.db
Restart Safari and see if your problem is solved. -
RSS-Feeds and Mac OS 10.4.6 Update
It seems, that the issue with updating the RSS-Feeds in the bookmark bar automatically is not solved by the new Mac OS X update. For testing I changed syncing from hourly to automatically and now the RSS-Feeds are not anymore updated.
I think the issue with syncing the status of the RSS-Feeds is also not solved! Have anyone tested it?I don't use the synch. option. However, my RSS feeds are updating without problem after the update. If I remember correctly, the RSS feed update was affected by synching through .Mac? Is that true?
What method did you use to update your system. As a rule, I use the combo update. If you used the incremental method, I suggest using the combo update. Remember to repair permissions via Disk Utility after the update. -
Bookmarks Bar Can't Do RSS Feed Maths!

In my Bookmarks Bar I have a folder called RSS Feeds. Within that I have 6 sub-folders. Each folder contains bookmarks to RSS feeds. The problem I'm having is that Safari isn't particuarly accurate at adding up my unread RSS feed items count. For example, right now it says (2) on the Bookmarks Bar, and it says (2) next to one of the sub-folders, which is good. But then, inside that sub-folder, there is no (2) or (1)s next to any of the feeds I've subscribed to.
Has anyone else had this problem? Is it just a fact that you shouldn't use nested folders for RSS feeds?A good solution to this problem is actually to use NetNewsWire instead of Safari's RSS reader.
NetNewsWire is an excellent free Mac OS X RSS reader. I'm really satisfied with it. Now I get an accurate unread count in the Dock (I know Mail can do that). But the best part is that it auto syncs my RSS feeds with NewsGator online, meaning that if I read RSS feeds on my iPod Touch, my iMac knows about, and vice-versa. -
No syncing of RSS feed bookmarks (Live bookmarks)
Hi,
I'm using Firefox Desktop 37 on windows, and Firefox 37 on an Android phone.
Using Firefox sync to sync only bookmarks, every "classic" bookmark and folder are perfectly synced between the two platforms.
However, all the RSS feeds (or Live bookmarks) are not synced. They simply do not appear (no empty folder or anything else).
Is this a "normal" behavior or is there a fix for this?
Thanks in advance.I believe that this is expected behavior. Firefox for Android does not have support for RSS bookmarks.

RSS Feeds open in a series of tabs
I set up a folder with all my feeds in the Bookmarks Bar on my Windows computer here at work, selected the "Auto-Click" option, but when I click the folder it opens new tabs for each individual feed, instead of in a single unified page. While I can still right-click on the folder and select "View All RSS Feeds" to get all the feeds in a single page, I was wondering if this was a bug (that I should report), or if I am missing a setting someplace
1.5 Ghz PBG4 Mac OS X (10.4.3) 1 Gig RAM, 128 MB ATI 9700, 30g Video iPod, iSightMaybe by default - but right now on my Mac, when i click the link it opens in a single unifed page not in a bunch of tabs. I don't reacal changing any settings to make it work this way, but it's posible I did so long ago I simply forgot.

I never use RSS feeds, and doubt I ever will. Being that I am very OCD about the visual components of my programs, I am very annoyed by the RSS Feed in the side bar under my mailboxes. I have it set to never update to alleviate the more annoying issue of having a bunch of unread feeds show up as a number next to it, but was unable to find an option that would allow me to fully remove it. Is there a way this can be done, so I both no longer subscribe to any RSS feeds as well as having the drop down not appear under my mailboxes?
My bad, I found the answer I was looking for. For those who come looking for answers to the question I asked:
Click on an RSS feed (I only had one, the Apple one) and go up to the mailbox option on the menu bar. From there you can scroll down to near the bottom of the drop down menu after clicking, and click an option that says "Delete Feed". It will ask if you are sure, which I assume you will be if you're reading this, so click yes. That one feed is now gone, however, if you delete all of your feeds the RSS drop down no longer appears below your mailboxes. It was surprisingly simple, I was a bit embarassed it took me this long to figure out

Safari has been crashing on RSS feeds for a month now...
I've done a reinstall of the combo update, repaired permissions, deleted my RSS plist file, updated 1Password, Reset Safari and updated to Safari 5. I will get random crashes, usually when I check an unread RSS feed. Oddly enough, this usually isn't my first unread RSS feed of the morning but after I have been running Safari for an hour and check a new unread. I've posted the crash log. Thanks for any help.

RSS Table View with Tab Bar Code Error
I created an iphone app with a navigation controller that has a table view which displays an rss feed. My client wants it able to display multiple rss feeds through a tab bar. I have attempted several times and have messed up. If anyone could help me with this it would be greatly appreciated.

I would recommend starting as follows:
1) Start a new project with the Tab Bar Application template;
2) Open MainWindow.xib and select Window->Document from the IB menu to make sure the xib window (the icon winow) is visible;
3) Locate the "View Mode" switch in the upper-left corner of the xib window and make sure it's in the Center position to display a 2-column table showing the view hierarchy as a tree of small icons to the left;
4) Expand the Tab Bar Controller branch, then delete (select and Edit->Delete) each of the two view controllers under the Tab Bar Controller. The only child of that controller should now be the Tab Bar;
5) Open the Library window (Tools->Library), drag a Navigation Controller into the xib window and drop it when it's on top of the Tab Bar Controller icon;
6) Repeat step 5 until you have as many nav controllers (one for each RSS feed) as you want (for this example, assume 4 RSS feeds);
7) The Tab Bar Controller should now have 5 children: the Tab Bar plus the 4 nav controllers; if not, drag the nav controllers until each of their icons is shown indented under the Tab Bar Controller just as the Tab Bar is;
8) Expand the first Navigation Controller branch, and expand it's Root View Controller; you should now see that root controller's Navigation Item;
9) Select the nav item, open the Attributes Inspector (Cmd-1), and change the Title to "RSS 1 Root";
10) Repeat 8-9 for the remaining 3 nav controller branches, so the root views will be labeled "RSS 2 Root", ... "RSS 4 Root" respectively;
11) Save the xib, return to Xcode, and click "Build and Go". The project should build and run without any warnings or errors. If not, return to step 1 and try to see where things went wrong.
Let us know if you need more help after you get the above skeleton app working. The next step will be to change the class of the "RSS 1 Root" controller to the class of the first table controller in your original project, and to add that controller's xib (you can delete FirstViewController.h/.m and SecondView.xib by selecting each in the Groups & Files tree of the Xcode project window and selecting Edit->Delete).
Please avoid the temptation to merge the above steps into your original project. In my experience, moving each of your files into the new skeleton, and testing at each buildable stage will reduce the chances for error while making it easier to spot any incompatibilities in your old code. The process shouldn't involve touching any of your XML parse or table display code, but you may need to override some additional table view controller methods such as viewWillAppear:
Btw, in case this hasn't been discussed yet, be aware you'll face a major decision soon: When tabbing to feed no. 2, what happens on the return to feed no. 1? If the user will return to the same detail view that was last displayed, you might need lots more memory and there will be lots more to go wrong. If the user will return to the home menu, the whole project will be much simpler. Estimate your effort accordingly.
Also be prepared for your client to say something like this during beta: "Oh... one or two of the links in feed no. 3 might be a mp3 or mp4 next month. That won't be a problem, will it?".

Hi,
I have 2 macs in my home with the same problem.
All the rss feed i have bookmarked don't update automatically.
When i delete the pref file "com.apple.Syndication.plist", Safari update the rss feeds one times but not all 30 min like i have defined in pref.
If someone have some experience about this problem.

Try deleting Safari's preferences file which is named "com.apple.Safari.plist". Quit Safari first. The easiest way of getting to the file is to put the filename (without quotes) in Spotlight. You will get one entry. Click on "Show All" and you can then drag the plist to the trash. Restart Safari and reenter your preferences. Let us know what happens.
