Unreadable gift card: Still Waiting for Response

Anyone have an idea of how long they take to respond when you have an unreadable gift card? It's past the stated 48 hours. Do you have to resubmit the whole request again?
thanks

Steve, I'm assuming they requested that you send scans, etc. after you initially contacted them using the "form" email.
I just filled out the "form" email on the Apple site which has a category for problems with gift cards; I didn't see any other way to contact them. That is what they eventually (4 days) replied to. I was getting ready to send the request again (on the 'form' email) when I received their reply.
Hope they have contacted you by now.

  • FF28.0 (de): Though menu option "Offline" is checked, Firefox still waits for responses from online sites

I have own webpages and modify them locally on my notebook.
After having made changes, *before* uploading them to my webhost company, I use to have a look on them "locally".
To manage this, I check menu option : Datei -> Offline arbeiten (German version, in "en" probably File-> Offline)
This worked pretty fine for years, up to and including FF 27.0.1.
Now with FF28.0, though "Offline" is checked/activated, FireFox still waits for online answers and does NOT display my changed sites (residing on the hard disk).
What happened? Must I now use IE to test my website changes locally?

Using Work Offline would only work for web pages that you have visited and that are in the disk cache.<br />
You can't use this to display web pages that are modified locally for testing.<br />
To do that properly you would have to access them via a local server that is running on your computer.

  • Still waiting for a response from Adobe regarding the post "Printing a pdf from a marked-up pdf".

Still waiting for a response from Adobe regarding the post "Printing a pdf from a marked-up pdf" dated 15 Dec 2012 9:20 AM.

Look everyone that comes here with a support problems has gone through all the normal channels, around and  round in circles with no one seeming to be interested. They've called every phone number, every email address they can find. They have been put on hold and bounced fifty times to another operator only to be hung up on. If Adobe would bring back support to main land and have people that know what's going on instead of having people that people can barely understand read from scripts. Scripted information only applies about 10 % of the time. I'm just giving people an alternative. after they have torn their hair out going the normal route.  If they had been able to get a solution they wouldn't be coming here for help.
There should be a forum set up just for people to air these issues and Adobe employees forced to man it. Then we wouldn't have to have such a Bad attitude. Right now Adobe's Support reputation is worse than Intuit's which did have the absolutely worse on the Planet. Now they are number 2.
You know it yourself that Adobe's support is absolutely worse than terible. However to prevent me from being banned from the forums I will simply will provide the adobecare email address from now on
So let's sweep it under the rug.

how do a get a refund on a ridiculously slow downloading rented movie for my apple tv dispite a >5mb/sec down load speed? my first experience with appletv movie rental. no good. rented at 4:30pm. still waiting for standard def movie to finish at 8:10pm. Not good enough.

Thanks for the pointers folks. Yeah, 1.5GB is pretty poor isn't it? There are other suppliers, but you have to get a their phone line installed to access the internet so it's an £85 setup fee plus a day off work for a guy to come round and drill a hole in your wall before you even get to the monthly costs.
Don't get me wrong though - I'm certainly not an Apple basher, but am equally frustrated with both them and the ISP.
Virgin Media spend all kinds of money advertising their broadband as the fastest in the UK, but don't tell you (up front anyway) that you'll be cut off if you actually try and use it.
Apple on the other hand carry on with their 'it just works' mantra, but with Apple TV this only applies if you meet certain criteria (again, not mentioned up front).
I guess it aint a biggie, as i was gifted my Apple TV, and love all the other stuff it does, but from the number of posts on this forum can see that there's a lot of angry customers out there who want explanations as to why they're having similar problems to me.
Will be very interesting to see if Apple release any kind of software update that turns the flash drive from a buffer to permanent storage, to at least ease some of the pain...

  • SAPgui: Waiting for response

    Hi all,
after the failed attempt to make a client copy I have some problems:
Stopping the system with stopsap or stopping the database (MaxDB) not possible, because "there are still active users on database system"
--> so I must stop the database with dbmcli
--> after each new sapstart I have the same problem
    Also login is not possible:
While trying to connect to the system SAPgui gives
"Waiting for Response" but nothing works.
    Problem with the database?
--> entry in dev-disp:  swap space to small, tmpfs at /dev/shm  to small
    Connection problem?
    --> entry in dev_ms:
"MsSCheckConnections: no response from Client C0 (<hostname>_<sid>00)"
    --> entry in CPITRCxxxxx:
         "GwIConnect to <hostname> / 3300 failed..."
         "CPIC (TCP/IP) on local host
           Partner 192.168.0.200 not reached
    What can I do?
    Thank you in advance
    Wilhelm

    > see a smile in my face!
    >
    > "- take a full backup of the database
    > - take a backup of the log area ."
    >
    > -> for the first time: how do I do that?
The easiest way is to install DBMGUI or Database Studio (see here: https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/maxdb-downloads) - you can choose
    Check the guide
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/maxdb
    --> Backup and Restore
    and
    http://maxdb.sap.com/doc/7_6/f8/5a27401544ed01e10000000a155106/frameset.htm
    Basically you will need to
    - connect DBMGUI or Database Studio to your database (using the dbm/control user)
    - create a medium where to backup (disk, tape)
    - run the database backup
    - create a second medium for the logfiles
    - backup the log
Get back if you have a problem

  • Forbidden Screen - Error: "Still waiting for root device"

Greetings to all! I come to you with my boot troubles as a supplicant, in the hope that someone can help.
I have a PowerBook G4 15-inch, pre-Intel from late 2005. Until today it always worked and rarely hanged. All I've ever needed to do when in trouble was reboot. I've updated the Apple OSX software regularly and have never touched the hardware, except once 18 months ago to add memory. All I do with this machine is use it. It's been weeks since I installed any new software.
There were no warning signs before the problem started today.
FIRST SIGN OF TROUBLE: The machine was unusually slow, showing beach balls on every minor move. I powered down conventionally and later turned it on again. After a minute I got the "Forbidden Sign" grey screen, which I had never seen before. So I rebooted, and got that again.
+I turned to the only other available machine (very old PC, unfortunately) to browse for solutions, and have so far tried the following:+
    1) BOOT FROM INSTALLATION DISK: Forbidden Screen. After a couple of attempts I removed the disk (by clicking trackpad on power up). At some point, in desperation, I even tried Disc 2.
    2) RESET PRAM (Command-Option-P-R on power up) : I got three chimes, then the grey screen. It stayed on the apple and gear for many minutes. At least it never went to the Forbidden Screen.
    3) FILE SYSTEM CHECK (Option-S on power up) : After a few steps it shows error messages (see below) and starts repeating, "Still waiting for root device," over and over.
    4) RESET NVRAM (Command-Option-O-F on power up) : I got a blue screen with text and was able to input "reset-nvram" (response: OK) and then "boot." Result: Forbidden Screen.
    5) SAFE START (Option on power up) : Forget it. Forbidden Screen. Same when I try it with "C" as some sites recommend. Same with or without the Install Disk in the DVD driver.
    6) POWER MANAGEMENT UNIT RESET (Shift-Control-Option-Power): Subsequent boot still produces Forbidden Screen.
    *THE ERROR MESSAGES*
Here are some of the messages when I start up with Option-S:
CSRHIDTransitionDriver::probe booting in single user .. do not match
Extension "com.apple.driver.AppleUSBTCKeyboard" has no kernel dependency.
Extension "com.apple.driver.AppleUSBTCKeyEventDriver" has no kernel dependency.
Apple PMU::CLOCK RESET! PMU WAS PROBABLY RESET SOMEHOW!! +(Yes, I did that, but it wasn't showing this before I did, and it WAS showing all of the following.)+
    Security auditing service present
    BSM auditing present
    disabled
rooting via boot-uuid from /chosen: +(I think the long code that follows is the serial number?)+
    Waiting on <dict ID="o"><key>IOProviderClass</key><string ID="1">IOResources</string><key>IOResourceMatch</key><string ID="2">boot-uuid-media</string></dict>
PMUMS::start ERROR: failed to find IOATABlockStorageDriver
    Still waiting for root device
    Still waiting for root device
    Still waiting for root device
    +(etc. ad infinitum)+
*So now I'm begging anyone for answers to these questions:*
    Am I doomed?
Does anyone know what the problem is?
This seems to be happening prior to disk access, as it happens with or without the Install Disk. So do I still have the hard drive working? Is my data on it?!
Was resetting the Power Management Unit a bad idea?
    What can I do next?
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!
    Nicholas from NYC

    Thanks for your reply, Louie!
In the meantime I have succeeded in booting via the Install Disc using Option on power up. The Hardware test shows nada wrong. Disk Util repair goes up to "Rebuilding Category B-Tree" and then fails. Frustratingly, the HD is somehow visible, because the diagnostics correctly identify it and give correct values for empty space. Right now I'm running the Erase Free Space option and it's working - how is that possible? I've gotten into Single User mode and tried various FSCK commands. Sometimes it comes back with the superblock error and "Bad Magic Number" which I believe indicates a corrupted block within the boot sector. I can't figure out how to reassign without reformatting and losing the data. This will cost me a few weeks of data, but really not that much work - still set me back by days.
Next step will be to start taking it apart, as you suggest, starting with the easy matter of trying with just one DIMM or switching the DIMMs.
Thanks again, and if anyone knows how to help - how does one reassign a superblock from the Single User mode?

you can't add or mofidy partition numbers. especially not if and once you have windows installed.
boot from Windows 7 DVD afterwards
but first you have to tell us and Christopher what and how you partitioned your system.
Successful setup of OS X Lion + Data Partition + Bootcamp Win7 Ult

So after many, many hours I think I've finally figured out how to successfully setup Mac OS X Lion on one partition, a seperate data partition, and Windows 7 Ultimate on a Bootcamp partition . Here is a screenshot of my setup on my 13" MacBook Pro
Thread with suggestions on Windows backup methods:
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3798090
    Paragon CampTune
Paragon CampTune is a commercial product that is designed expressly for this task. http://www.paragon-software.com/home/camptune/ It consists of a downloadable ISO that needs to be burned to a disc and booted from in order to resize the partitions costs US$19.95.
    Securing Dual-System Configuration
Imaging is still the most affordable and robust way to secure computer data. Unfortunately Mac OS X backs up only HFS+ volumes, leaving Windows with dual-system configurations unsecured. You can permanently lose all of your data unless you have a Windows-compatible backup solution.
Paragon’s CampTune and Paragon’s Drive Copy for Mac can secure the entire dual-system configuration. CampTune creates traditional images of volumes or entire hard disks, Drive Copy can copy them to other disks. In case of an emergency, you can restore the previously created image or copy all your data back to its original state.
    GParted Live
GParted Live is similar to CampTune as it is also distributed as a bootable image that needs to be copied to a CD/DVD or USB flash drive. As free and open source software, distributed under the GPL, it will always be available free. Since it has more functions than CampTune, it may be harder for folks who are not as experienced with partitioning hard drives. http://gparted.sourceforge.net/
    iPartition
Coriolis Systems' iPartition is a £29.95 ($44.95 US) utility that runs in Mac OS X and allows resizing of all of the relevant partition formats, including HFS+, FAT32, and NTFS. It provides a Mac-oriented user interface that may be easier to manage than some of the free utilities. As it is not capable of resizing the boot disk, it requires a bootable external disk or a boot DVD. (A tool to create a boot DVD is included.)
    Paragon Partition Manager
From the makes of CampTune is a commercial tool that is similar in functionality to GParted Live, but has a more polished/friendly user interface than GParted Live. Previously only the US$79.95 Professional version supported all the features required for this, but as of version 11 the US$39.95 Personal version has also been reported to work. http://www.paragon-software.com/home/pm-personal/
    Winclone/Disk Utility
Winclone is a free tool for creating and restoring backup images of your Windows partition. One of its key features is that it can restore to a larger partition than the one the image was created from.
NOTE: Winclone has been discontinued, but for now remains available and capable of completing these tasks (including creating and restoring Windows 7 images).
Winclone updated to support Lion Winclone updates and download
Disk Utility can resize HFS+ (Mac OS) partitions, but is currently incapable of resizing NTFS partitions, so you could use it to reduce the size of the HFS+ partition and create a new larger placeholder MS-DOS (FAT) partition
    The full process would be:
    Backup Windows partition with Winclone.
(if the new Windows partition is smaller than the old one make sure you set the preferences in Winclone to save the image as an uncompressed dmg)
    Delete old Windows partition
    Resize current Mac Partition
Create new Windows partition as MS-DOS (FAT) in free space after Mac OS partition.
(If the new Windows partition is smaller than the old one an additional step is required: shrink the filesystem on the image by selecting Tools->Shrink Windows (NTFS) Filesystem)
Reboot your computer for the new Windows partition to mount properly (winclone may not restore if you don't reboot)
Restore Winclone partition over new Windows partition
An alternate Winclone based process is described in the External Guides section
    Native OS utilities
MR user Kazyua reports that you can use the disk management utilities provided with the current operating systems if you want to do it manually. Windows 7 and OS X both have partition resizing functions built in. In OS X, open Disk Utility and manually shrink the mac HFS+ partition by dragging the lower right corner. Then in windows go to the start menu and type "disk management" into the search box then hit enter. You should get an overview of the drives you have and the individual partitions. Right-clicking on the partition gives an "Extend Volume" option. The Windows NTFS volume should then be extended into the free space you created with Disk Utility. This method has not worked for other users, so try at your own risk.

If you are looking to allocate more space to Windows under VMWare please refer to the following thread http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=828182

  • Still waiting for root device

I had an XServ serve that we could not get Profile Manager running after the 2.2 update in Dec 2012. Re tried rolling back various folder  since we have time machine running and backing up to an external Apple RAID.  Eventually I gave up anddecided it was time to restore the whole server from Time Machine.  I booted the XServ up with a 10.8 DVD and Chose "Restore Server from Backup". I then chose one of the full backups it listed. It restored the Time Machine backup.  However, when it boots. I get the Apple logo and then a circle with a slash and a pinwheel. Booting in Single User mode I find it is constantly waiting at " Still waiting for root device" and goes no further.
The internal hard drives in the XServe are a RAID as well as having the external Apple rack mounted RAID connected via a card in the XServe.

See if you can start up in Safe Mode. This will take awhile longer than a normal startup because it does a file check and repair of the hard disk.
If this works you will see your normal desktop. Once completely started up in Safe Mode, try to restart normally, and go to Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility. Click on the top hard drive icon in the left sidebar and note the S.M.A.R.T. status at the bottom right of the pane. What does it say?
Select the named boot volume in the left sidebar, and repair permissions on it.
If you can't start up in Safe Mode, maybe something in this Apple Knowledge Base article will help:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106805
Or it may be time to invest in a disk utility such as DiskWarrior.

  • PANTHER on Wallstreet: "Still waiting for Root device"

I have problems installing panther on my wallstreet with Xpostfacto.
I could install CD1 but it didn't accept CD2 (installer was waiting for the CD2, inserted it, nothing happened)
Then I did a clean install (format disks in OS9, etc), only to find out that now it will not even load the first OSX install CD, "Still waiting for Root device" in verbose mode.
I try to load the CD again, it starts spinning for a second and then seems to stall.
Everything works fine however in OS9: the CD drive and the OSX install CD's
    This is my config:
    Wallstreet G3 233 mhz (M4753) 14,1 inch no USB
    Powerlogix G4/500 upgrade card
OS 9.1 (I can install 9.2.2 if necessary)
Xpostfacto (only option: "PatchedRagePro" to avoid purple video)
    Panther install CD's
If someone could help me out, I'd be very thankfull!!

    Walvis,
Not much to offer but a few suggestions.
With all peripherals removed including PC cards and mouse, I would shut down, then reset the PRAM and startup into 9.x and try XPostFacto again to boot the Panther CD.
If unsuccessful, you might try trashing XPostFacto and reinstalling it; be sure to trash the XPostFacto log in the Preferences folder.
How much installed RAM is present? If you have more than 256MB, consider removing one of the modules, then try your install. For whatever reason, the OSX installer can't deal with more than 256MB of RAM on some Wallstreets although I do believe the use of XPostFacto mitigates this.
The PowerLogix upgrade card may also play a role.
I would head over to the XPostFacto Forums and read about the install issues on the Wallstreet in the Powerbook Forums.

I am still waiting for an unlocking code from EE.I first contacted them on 29th May, then 31st May then 16th June, then 26th June, then 13th July, then 15th July. Each time I have spoken to customer services they have appologised profusely and assured me that the unlock code would be fast tracked. The last 2 calls promised me the money would be deducted from my credit on my orange PAYG account within 72 hours and the unlock code would be sent via email in 24 hours afterwards. My phone is xperia ST261.It is second hand, given to me by a friend who upgraded his phone with EE.I have an Orange PAYG simcard which I've had for over 15 years. I still wish to use this but also use a Lebara simcard, which is why I want the phone unlocked.I topped up with £10 so that there is sufficient money to pay the fee.I have filled in 2 or 3 requests online as I had 2texts from EE saying they couldn't continue with the request and that I needed to visit page...blah blah, fill in online unlock request form (again)I have spoken to 6 customer service reps who have also submitted the request....I should know my IMEI number by heart now!I took reference numbers of a couple of the reps but the last one insisted I just had his name and if I didn't get the code within 72 hours to call back and ask for him.......yeah right.call centre ''can I speak to ****'' that's going to happen!I'm really fed up now. I have a lovely phone that I cant use with my Lebara simcard.I am currently in Spain so going into an EE shop is not possible. My account is UK registered as is my simcardI top up by debit card (UK)So I've now been waiting 36 working days.I feel like I'm just being wound up by the call centre people with them keep fobbing me off.Mary

  • Still waiting for up to date to be shipped?

I was curious to whether or not any other people are still waiting for their Mac OS X Leopard "up to date" cd to be shipped. I ordered mine on the 23rd and it still hasn't even been prepared for shipment at this time. I have spoken to a customer service manager but the issue with my order escaped her. She was going to be contacting her supervisor to see if they could see what was going on. She said I should expect a call back tomorrow.
I am being patient about the wait as i figure supply is exceeding demand, but I know of two people who purchased the "up to date" upgrade in the days after mine, and their cd's have already shipped.
Has your "up to date" shipped or are you still waiting. When did you order the CD?

I have ordered mine on 16th Oct..on the website it says shipped on 25th but its not here yet..:(
I called Apple thrice. The tracking number they provided is no good as they have shipped it using regular mail. Once they said it is going to take 5 days to be here in canada. Then a crazy sales rep gave me few instructions how to install leopard instead of actually finding out what happened to my shipment. The third time they said there has been "some problems with some of the DVDs" so they cancelled the initial shipment and are waiting for the new disks to become available for shipment....whatever that means. He said he will get back to me via email in 1 hour....it has been 2 days already ! They have charged my credit card and the tracking site shows an invoice with all the number and stuff...Strange behavior from Apple...

  • Really poor customer service - still waiting for B...

Just a quick post to see if a moderator could help me…or as a last attempt for BT to at least acknowledge my recent complaint (or apologize).
I’d be interested to hear if other users have had similar problems (to any one of mine as it crosses different forum topics)…
I’d like to think I’m writing as an objective and reasonable customer and a loyal customer at that.  Suffice it to say, in this competitive marketplace, I’ve not been impressed with BT in the last 3 months.
My automated email complaints response is 110110-007990 (if that helps).
Given my numerous attempts to make contact with the BT customer services team; I am doubtful that I shall receive the courtesy of a reply.  I do not intend to repeat my complaint in detail here but in a nutshell, following the home move team promising various things such as:
    1) a waiver of the line installation charge if I continue a full service package (which I gather is £127.99 for flicking a switch at the exchange);
    2) a reduction in my billing generally (as I was “out of contract” for around 6 months so I was paying a DD around £65 p.m for line rental, basic phone, Broadband opt 2 and basic BT vision);
    3) an expedited home move switchover within days (not weeks).
However, none of this happened and like many recent posts my billing has gone crazy.  To cut a long story short BT have renegaded on all the promises made and the switchover service has been, at best, terrible.
    1) I was in fact billed for an install plus delivery charges (£8.98) for a superfluous BT home hub and BT vision box (which never turned up).
    2) My bills (and DD) have risen to a level which I simply cannot fathom as the BT invoicing system requires a degree in accounting to understand.
    3) And after ordering on the 3rd December, I’m still waiting for my broadband activation after the phone line was only activated late last week.  (To add insult I was told that an engineer would call (so took a day off to also receive the broadband kit) and allow access if required but it was cancelled and rescheduled twice).  Now hoping for the 18th Jan – 37 days after ordering – woohoo.
I’m now seriously thinking of leaving …. There’s no incentive for me to stay now I’ve been charged and that charges have increased beyond the VAT increase.  I suppose one customer like me will not make a difference to the BT annual report, but if my experience is typical of how customers are treated; if I were a BT shareholder I would be worried.
    Solved!

Cheers. for the first 6 months it was a locked ip profile, always reset after phoning bangalor and speaking to the "have you reset your router" robots. for a few hours or a day or more, I'd get 2-3mbps then crash, back down to 135kbps. The mods here (after first banning me for reposting what they had mailed me) were quite helpful, I think they were/are frustrated that there is little they can do for genuine line quality problems, the ones that will cost money/time/effort to sort. Actually time and effort didnt seem to be a problem, I had no end of openreach blokes come to the house, sometimes 2 came at once, all with the same stories of woe, trackers in their vans, being sent out on useless jobs they had already reported were down to line faults/quality but being sent out again and again. And not just to me, I had the same guy just a couple of times but all were routinely demoralised with some kind of deep routed hatred for their managers that due to the trackers were now able to see where they were at any time.
bonkers mate, like I care what they think of their manager. at first when i mentioned the problem with using the broadband and phone together, there seemed to be some interest but when the problem was confirmed, the umbrellas came up, broadband said it was the lline, the line people said it was the broadband. line people also said when they test, the bb will be unplugged and if there is no fault, i will have to pay 130-ish quid. thing is the phone works ok without the bb plugged in. i tried everything, new adsl socket, standing on one leg, the lot. then got a capped 500kbps rate for option2. at least then i didnt get back to 135kbps everyday.
i signed a new contract in november, god knows why, Im now buying myself out of it.
    there's one born everyday eh?
if bt were really interested in helping they would send out a smart person that would try and figure out why my neighbour gets 3mbps and i get 500kbps at a capped rate and 135kbps at the adaptive rate technology has done its business on my connection. I've had 3 routers sent to me, Ive bought a netgear all were no help. Its the line bt!!!! somewhere there is a fault. yes im far from the exchange, so is the guy next door!
