Unrecognized Device

Alright I'll give my system specs before I continue to make our lives a little bit easier...
Sony Vaio Desktop Computer Model: PCV-RS420
Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 2
Intel Pentium 4 Processor 2.8 Ghz
512MB RAM
USB 2.0 ports
I've already tried...
1.) reinstalling the two programs several times.
2.) Holding the center button with the menu button.
3.) tried to put it into disk mode (says "OK to disconnect"
4.) Deleteing all USB entries under the device manager.
Whenever I plug it in, the ipod would stay in the main menu screen with the option to choose music pcitures and whatnot. On my computer, it would say something like the hardware has malfuntioned and when i check under the device manager it would show up as "Unknown Device" I'm still having no luck. Can someone help me out please? Thanks
Windows XP

I also am experiencing problems with "USB device not recognozid" somtimes when i swap cables it works, other times it does not...apple support tells me to upgrade my usb to 2.0....anyone have success with this ??

Hello, i have some new iphones from family friends im trying to plug in. Itunes opens fine without any unrecognized devices plugged in, once an unrecognized iphone is plugged in it crashes upon trying to open iphone data. All the unrecognized iphones are restored and left at the begginning setup process. It will crash with an iphone 4, iphone 4s and iphone 5s.

  • Mobile Recovery App DROID X Unrecognized Device

    Here we go again.
Asurion released their Mobile Recovery app with Android 2.1. The software permitted users to find their phones from Asurion's web page or even file a claim against loss. However, when MotoRizon updated the DX to Froyo, the program failed to recognize the device. MotoRizon/Asurion left its mobile app users in the lurch for several weeks until Asurion finally made the Froyo DX "recognizable" to their software.
We have the same situation now. The company contracted under Verizon to insure your phone sends out the same "device unrecognized" message when you try to open the app under GB.
I haven't tried to call Verizon on this issue; I don't have 3 hours to waste on the phone. Last time I talked to them about my community forum account here, they couldn't figure out which department handles the web operations. I can only imagine the runaround buck pass I'll get about Asurion.
It would seem that Verizon bears some responsibility for this situation. Asurion insures Verizon's devices, and Verizon offers the software as a service. So wouldn't it make sence to communicate with Asurion ahead of the rollouts to make sure their devices will work under the new OS? And why does Asurion demand "recognition" from the device itself? Isn't the fact I have paid insurance on my phone enough? My device has to prove its provenance, too? **bleep**?
    Just a thought.
I decided to buy into SeekDroid to lock/wipe/locate/recover my phone. It cost a little more, but they cover any phone, not just recognized devices.
    Mike
    Once more into the breach

I understand why this issue would be frustrating, and want to provide you some information to assist you. I don't want you to feel like you are getting the runaround. Mobile Recovery is made by Asurion's engineering department. We try to partner with our vendors and providers to resolve issues that arise with updates. I will submit this to our product team to see what we can do to help resolve this issue. I would recommend also posting this to the Mobile Recovery support forum.

  • BB 8520 detected by windows as unrecognized device.

    Dear support,
I have BB 8520 which can't be detected corectly. I have install Desktop manager 5.0 B37
and BB USB & modem driver (DM5.0.1B73)
Do I need to install the device software too??
Thanks and to get a reply soon!

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
First -- this is not "support"...at least not formal support. This is a user-to-user support community of like-minded kind souls who try to help others out as best they can. This is not part of your formal support. Everyone here is a volunteer.
    Next...I suggest a clean start over...here's a procedure:
I suggest the following steps (insert plenty of reboots of your PC...not just restarts, but full power down reboots). Also, it is advised that you be logged into the PC on an account with full admin rights. Further, under Vista/Win7, use the "Run As Administrator" option for everything.
    1) Remove your device OS update package from your PC (add/remove programs)
    2) Cleanly uninstall the RIM DTM software:
KB02206 How to perform a clean uninstall of BlackBerry Desktop Software
Some have reported that there are more registry keys to remove than are discussed in that KB
Others have reported the use of a registry cleansing tool to also be helpful
    3) Get a fresh download of the RIM DTM software:
    https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads/entry.do?code=A8BAA56554F96369AB93E4F3BB068C22
Choose the version that is newest and (if applicable) compatible with your PIM (if you are synchronizing via USB):
KB12268 Applications supported by BlackBerry Desktop Manager for synchronization
    4) Download (to your PC) a fresh copy of your device OS package from your carrier:
    http://na.blackberry.com/eng/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp
    5) Install DTM to your PC
    6) Install (also to your PC), the device OS package
Hopefully that will get things going again. If not, please report back with details and specifics about exactly what does not go well. For instance, "can't be detected corectly" doesn't really tell us much...a detailed description about what you expect to see and what you actually see would help us to help you.
Good luck and let us know!

  • How I Solved The X-FI + Vista Driver Unrecognized Device Prob

Okay, the solution first, then comments. It's not bad hardware, like myself and so many others assumed. Those of us who are used to using Creative products are familiar with the drop down menus to get to your type of device, model, and OS. Here's the rub: Currently, if you quite naturally choose "X-FI" in the top of the box (especially makes sense since it's at the top of the list,) and then choose "Soundblaster," you will be taken to the download for the driver that?seems to primarily work as a driver for insanity in the user. If, instead, you choose "Soundblaster" in the FIRST box, and then "X-Fi" in the SECOND box, you will be taken to a completely different driver that recognizes the card, sets up the drivers, and everything goes hunky dory from there. (Don't let the "beta" fool you.) The downloaded file should start with "SBXF" instead of "XFXA." Of course, you're going to have to close a bunch of Vista windows trying to "help out" along the way, but choose wisely (you want to accept the ones that ask if you REALLY want to install the drivers you're installing, and cancel the rest) and you will be a happy camper. "X-Fi" instead of "unknown media device," and the pretty, pretty sound. Now my comments: I am a Creative fan, from the early days when they replaced the Ad Lib cards?for me, to my Prodikeys keyboard. They've always made great products with great support. I have never before been frustrated like this by them. And one of the things that made that support so great was the familiarity of the process for downloading drivers.
This is a MAJOR hiccup, and a LOT of people are posting all over the net about the percei'ved problem. Creative may have to talk a bit with whomever let that bit of confusion come about over something as simple as redundant menu choices on a website. Anyway, I am not going to copy this post all over the net, so if you try this solution and it works for you, please spread the word. It would have saved me three or four hours. Hope this helps even one person,--Tim Mitchell

What are you going on about? Using drugs? That sounded pretty logical to me? So why wouldnt people who have half a brain do that without youre "smart" solution?

  • HDX18t unrecognized devices after installing Win7

After a clean install of Windows 7 Ultimate, Device Manager reports three Base System Devices without drivers and two Unknown Devices (ACPI\ENE0100 *ENE0100) and (USB\VID_138A&PID_0001&REV_0372 USB\VID_138A&PID_0001).
As far as I can tell, all the USB ports work correctly, as does everything else I have tested (some ports I don't use).  I presume ACPI has something to do with power management, but I can't find any other indications of power problems -- although I had to replace the battery not long before installing Win7 because it wasn't charging.
What are these five devices, and how can I find drivers -- especially for the three that don't seem to identify themselves?
I tried to use the "automatically find your products and solutions" tool, but it won't load into the latest version of SeaMonkey, and with IE9 it appears to start but shows zero progress after more than an hour.
    Any suggestions?

  • I received an email stating that an app download was submitted by an unrecognized device.

when i clicked that i did not initiate this download, it asked me to sign in to apple, and give name, address, social security, mothers maiden name, credit card info including the security # on back, all of which looked suspicious.  how can i find out if this was a legit email sent by apple, or if this was a fraud scheme to get my info?

It's phishing. Forward the email to [email protected] and then delete it.

  • 6500 Slide unrecognized USB device

    Hi all,
I've been handed my sisters 6500 slide( 555552 RM-240 ) to fix because it wont transfer pics.
Essentially when it's plugged in it prompts for usb mode just fine but shows as an unrecognized device (on three different computers, two windows and linux vis lsusb showing unknown device)
I've tried restoring factory settings which has done absolutely nothing, warranty has expired so taking it to a NCP isn't really an option, does anybody have any ideas?
    Cheers

Cheers for the replies but I think my post may have been misunderstood.
I've tried both data storage/mass storage mode and PC suite mode connected to three different computers (two of which have PC Suite installed and recognize my N97 fine.
My problem is the phone is presenting itself as "unknown device" no matter which mode it's in or which computer it's connected to, so I know it's not a driver issue or an issue with the computers, I've also tried a different usb cable.
I'll post the output of lsusb later when I get the phone back to illustrate what I mean
    Ta.

  • USB Device Not Recognized for iPod on HP pavilion zd7310us w/ XP

Hi, I'm being told by Windows that the iPod needs drivers to be detected properly (which doesn't sound right to me...).
At first it wasn't even charging when plugged into a USB port. I've since reset it 3 times and solved that problem.
However, it still tells me that it's an unrecognized device. The laptop is about a year old, give or take 3 months, so I don't think the USB hardware version is a problem. The USB ports work, my optical mouse is currently plugged in and working fine.
The iPod also doesn't show up in either Windows Explorer or iTunes.
    Any suggestions??

Alright, nevermind. After reading about the cable problems I went out and got another. Seems to be working now.

  • Lumia 620 - Device not detected

    Hi,
I've been using my 620 for a month now with no problems.I use the phone for developing purposes (Visual Studio 2012 + Windows 8 Pro).
Around 8 days ago, I received a pack of updates of the Nokia bundled apps which I installed and after that, when I connect the phone via the USB cable, the Phone is not detected on Windows.
I read lots of other threads about this kind of problems, even went through reinstalling all the Windows Phone SDK, reinstalled drivers (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2749484), tried 4 different USB cables, on all the ports of my computer, tried 5 different computers too (two of which have Windows 7, three have Windows 8), removing the SD card, and the Phone still is not detected. The charging icon appears and the Phone charges OK though.
The Phone does not appear on Windows Device Manager under any kind of label (No Unrecognized Device either), Windows Explorer does not show any drive (MTP), its like the cable is not connected (although it charges without a problem).
I don't have the Amber update yet.
Is there any kind of setting (possibly hidden?) that controls the USB behavior of the phone? I read there are no Diagnostics tools for WP8, but, is there any way I can check if there is a hardware problem?
    Thanks in advance!

The vol down + power is only a reboot. Perhaps you might consider a reset from Settings>about>reset your phone.

  • WM6.1 device identifying as platform SQLite, not SQLite WCE, as it should

Using Mobile server 11g, my WM6.1 device suddenly started to identify itself as "SQLite" and not "SQLite WCE" as it should.
    I gave it another try:
I deleted my application on Mobile server, and created it again, for the SQLite PPC60 ARMV4I;US platform (with the package and deploy wizard: generated JAR and imported via Mobile server interface)
I created a user, linked it to my freshly made application. Then I registered the data subsetting. Everything OK so far.
I then hard reset my Win 6.1 device, downloaded the client (SQLite PPC60 ARMV4I) from the Mobile Server setup web page, installed it via USB/MS Mobile Device Center. Everything OK thus far.
I installed the client on the "Nand Flash" card on my device (HTC P6500) and started MSync. Typed in user, password, server and then I synced.
I get then got the same message as last time: ORA-20006: Unrecognized device type: <*SQLite*> ORA-06512: at "MOBILCONS_EXT", line 262
    ORA 06512 at line 1
I looked in the MOBILCONS_EXT package and found that it uses a lookup table C$ALL_DEVICE_PLATFORMS for platform types. I could not find the SQLite in there. I therefore changed the SQLite WCE to SQLite in the table and tried again (just to see if I could get a bit further, this is a dev environment).
The sync finnished with no errors, but my pubitems were not synced, only the system tables.
My question is: why does my device consistently identify itself as SQLite and not SQLite WCE?

  • PCI-MIO 16X board also auto-configures (MAX) as PXI device.

There is a SCXI 1000 chassis in my system but no PXI h/w. I can not delete the PXI from the configuration. This situation appears to conflict with serial ports (VISA correctly ID's 32 ports). After some running time the serial ports disapear from the VISA resources and appear as unrecognized devices (large yellow question mark next to them) in MAX. What is going on, and how can I fix it. Also, how do I remove the PXI device from the config? Thanks.

    Asousa:
The serial ports have a question mark if VISA is unable to open them. Since only 1 process can access a given serial port at a given time, the OS is returning an in-use error, which NI-VISA returns as VI_ERROR_RSRC_BUSY (0xBFFF0072). You can verify whether this is the specific error by using NI Spy. I do not know what is causing this error, but it is likely because another process (perhaps your LabVIEW application) opened the serial port but did not close it.

  • Satellite U200-124 - Unknown devices with Windows XP SP2

I downloaded Toshiba U200 drivers for Windows XP from this site, install Windows, install all drivers.
    Well.
But i have 2 unrecognized devices in device manager.
    1. NIC 1394. Device Code V1394\NIC1394\92423A3900
    2. PCI Device. Device Code PCI\VEN_104C&DEV_803C&SUSBSYS_00011179&REV_00\4&6B 16D5B&0&5BF0
Modem & FireWire are not working.
    What can I do?

As Ivan said the drivers are not installed correctly and therefore the unknown devices appear in the device manager.
The installation instruction shows the right installation order. This order is necessary and important to get all devices working!!!
Please visit the Toshiba European driver page, choose the right series and download and install the right and compatible drivers like mentioned in the txt. file

  • Download drivers for all the devices

I have installed Win 2008 R2 using Bootcamp, I found the windows device manager showing generic microsoft drivers been used for display and also there are unrecognized devices.
    I am using iMac 27".
Where can I download device drivers for all the devices? I assume Windows 7 64bit drivers must be compatible for Win 2008.
    Thanks.

I am not an expert on all devices but I can tell you that while you can use a single username/password to access all devices you can't have a "generic" set of rules. AAA services operate different based on the model/platform. For example, the ASAs, WLCs and Nexus devices are completely different when compared to the standard IOS routers and switches. For this this situation (read-only ASDM) you should check this useful post:

  • Connecting USB Hub doesn't connect some devices (randomly)

I have quite a few USB devices (normally 5: external Apple Modem, mouse, ext. Apple keyboard, 2 printers), which I plug into a USB 2 hub (externally powered D-Link DUB-H7). When I bring my MBP back to my desk, I plug the hub into one of the ports on my MBP.
In theory, this should connect all of my devices. In practice, it connects only some of them, and which ones it connects seems to be completely random. Sometimes just two, sometimes all of them. Sometimes the keyboard and not the mouse, sometimes vice-versa, and sometimes neither (both plug directly into the hub - I'm not using the keyboard hub).
If I unplug and re-plug the main cable - I get another set of devices. If I unplug the cable to an unrecognized device and re-plug, it is then recognized.
As you might imagine, this is a PITA.
    I have tried:
    - running USB Prober, including logging. This confirms that the non-working devices aren't recognized by the system at all, until I re-plug. The logging doesn't tell me anything that I can make use of.
    - installed the debugging USB kext (http://developer.apple.com/hardwaredrivers/download/usbdebug.html). This makes the USB Prober log give more information, but still doesn't tell me anything that helps. If this causes writing to some other log, I can't find it.
    - replaced the hub with an identical, brand new hub. No difference.
    - replaced the main USB cable with another USB 2 certified cable. No difference.
Looked at the console and system logs. There are some USB-related errors, but nothing unusual happens at the point of connecting the hub. There are msgs from USB Prober, but I get these even when (successfully) unplugging and re-plugging a single device. E.g.

So, any ideas on what this problem is, or how to track it down? The behavior is as if there are two many device-connection events happening in too short a time, and some of them are getting dropped. If so, could be an OS problem. But, that seems pretty basic.
I'd be glad to provide more detailed logs, if someone can specify what to log.

Hi all (esp. Carolyn). I bought a new hub (BelkinUSB 2.0 7-Port Economy Hub http://www.buy.com/prod/belkin-usb-2-0-7-port-economy-hub/q/loc/101/202378584.ht ml ), and my problems are gone.
I did more searching (I had done a lot already), and found a single comment on newegg by someone having similar and worse problems - same D-Link hub, and also on a Mac, though the 2 other Mac users had no complaints.

Some other users of this hub had problems also, on PC's as well, though most had none.
Unfortunately, now I'm stuck w/2 junk hubs (warranty has expired). At least my problems are gone!
