Unrendered frames in Livetype

I've made a bunch of very basic livetype files (.ipr) to place in an instructional video. When I bring the files into the Final Cut browser and place them in the timeline 1-5 frames won't render and flash an unrendered frame in the video.
I've tried recreating all the files and re-rendering but to no avail.
I've also tried to render the files to quicktime movies but that is my other unresolved post about an "out of memory" error when I try to do that.
I could use all the help I can get. This project is very late because of this. Thanks.

Without knowing what effects you are using, it's impossible to even start guessing; it's all up to you, pretty much. Start by turning off all effects and textures and see what happens. Then add them back one at a time.
Can't help you on the out of memory issue, far too many weird variables. Can only suggest you search the forums for the term and look for similarities to your setup.
Flash frames are very unusual in FCP renders. They usually point to bad video media, rarely is this an issue with LiveType.
While we hope you get this solved soon, your deadlines should be established to accommodate technical glitches like this without losing your client. So immediately start your backup plans: find someone else to render your effects on another machine and begin replacing all of your LT elements with 3D Text or Outline Text..

  • I want a static background, but when I import a frame from livetype all I..

Get is a black background. I am using the space travel background in livetype. I export the current frame, but when I try to use the frame, ie extending it to the length I want, it just shows up as a black background w/ out the stars.
Any way I can do this, or do you know of any good FCE tuts that can help?
    Thanks.

I see what you did. When you applied the texture it defaults to applying into the background. It's below the gray separator bar in the LT timeline. Then it's only background. It's not part of the composition. If you want to see it on export drag the texture onto the track above the background bar and hen export it.

  • Unrendered Frames

When attempting to export from FC Pro HD to anything other than a self-contained FC file, I get frames in my exported file that display the blue "Unrendered" graphic. This is after I've rendered my entire timeline. Strangely, I can even see the timeline turn red as soon as I select "Export to QuickTime." If I cancel the export, they go back to grey. This seems to occur especially during transitions between shots in my timeline. Any ideas why this might be?
    Thanks.

What happens if you render it as a Quicktime (NOT avi) file?

  • Exporting frame in Livetype

Hi everyone, I'm trying to export a frame but every I do it (doesn't matter which format) the image turnes out a bit altered in size. It looks squashed from top to bottom. I have also done a test with a movie export and it does the same thing. How can I fix this problem of squashed exporting?
    Thanks in advance

In Preview, go to the menu bar: Tools > Adjust Size. Turn off the "Scale proprtionally" checkbox.
If you have standard def 720x480 video change the value in the Width box to 853 and click OK.
This will give you a picture that represents how the image would be displayed Anamorphically.

  • Title Craw - use Boris or LiveType?

I'm working with the included Boris title crawl provided within FCE HD, but wondering if someone could tell me how to slow down the speed of the crawl.
I'm hoping at this point that I am not 'barking up the wrong tree' so to speak, in using the built-in Boris titling, or would I be better off in creating title crawls across the lower portion of my frames in LiveType.
I'm still an infant at this, any insight to working with title crawls would be appreciated.

It's been a while since I used Boris but can you select the clip and go 'modify' - 'speed' or command j or drag the clip to the length you require.
I prefer to use Livetype as it's more versatile, but it means switching between apps. If it's a simple and quick title you need, use boris or the title generator in FC, if it's more complex use LT although if you've not used it much there's a bit more of a learning curve involved - just open it up and experiment.
Scrolls and crawls are in the media browser under the effects tab. First select your font, type a few words, apply the crawl then in under the timing tab in the inspector, adjust the speed.

  • AVI file "unrendered"

Help... Client needs AVI, ASAP! I'm exporting a sequence to AVI files from FCP 5.1.4, and I'm getting the blue "unrendered" for one frame before every transition. (just 1 unrendered frame, and always the first frame of the transition). The sequence has been fully rendered. I never had this problem before, but this is the first AVI export since upgrading to FCP5.

Not sure exactly what your workflow is, but...
What are your sequence settings? If they're avi, that's probably the problem. Change it to something more quicktime friendly.
If your sequence is a fcp preset, export a selfcontained qt with sequence settings and use compressor to do your export (or bring in your selfcontained qt back into fcp and then do your export.)
    Good Luck.

  • Unrendered transitions in AVI

    Hi
The broadcast program at my school recently upgraded to Final Cut Pro 5. Unfortunatly an unexpected problem suddenly came up. Whenever we exported a piece onto AVI every transition's first frame would flick the blue unrendered screen up. This really reduces the quality of the news pieces that people spend a lot of time on. The unrendered frame would not occur using quicktime, however AVI is the only file we can use for broadcasting. This did not happen on the previous version of Final Cut Pro and we are quite at a loss an what the problem is .
I have noticed several people on the forums have the same problem but none have been answered. Can someone please help us out?
    Thanks

Before you export the sequence as an AVI. Export it as a self contained QT movie (File/Export/QuickTime Movie...). Check on the self contained option, leave it at "current settings", and turn off recompress all frames.
Then export that movie as an AVI... the transitions will then be just part of a single media file. It's a workaround, but I'll bet it works just fine.

  • Star Wars scrolling effect

Does anybody know how to create the Star Wars scrolling into the distance titling effect?
I assumed it was just a matter of manipulating the aspect ratio of the frame inside Livetype, but I couldn't find the controls to do this! How do I create this effect?

You can also get FXFactory, a free FXPlug handler from Noise Industries. It comes with a set of freebie filters and one of them is StarTitler. Very slick, very easy to use.
    http://www.noiseindustries.com/fxfactory/
Oh, sorry, just realized this is a Livetype question. The FXPlugs from Noise Industries will get installed so you can use them with FCP and Motion, not LT.

  • Properties of Saved Title File

After a few years layoff I have gone back to Live Type to make some titles for my HD videos (new to me). I like the results but I can't figure out why it won't save the results as AIC which is what I set the project properties too. When I save the title and put it into FCE 4.01 I have to render the sequence. Very frustrating. Or is this way it it supposed to work?

While you can set project properties to match pixel dimensions and frame rate, LiveType always produces a file that uses the Animation codec as it supports transparency. AIC doesn't have that possibility, so you have to render.
The upside is that you can immediately see that the composition works without further tweaking.

  • Help creating robust titles in FCP

    Greetings,
I am a recient FCP convert. For the first time I tried to create some titles, but had issue with the 'Title Generator' that is native. I am used to a screen style title generator, that lets you create multiple texts in one graphic, vary the font and font size within a graphic, and add shadows and strokes, etc.
Premiere's titler, and Avid's stock titler (or Marquis for that matter) are prime examples, very robust.
I was just wondering if I wanted to title like that in FCP what do I need? Am I missing something, because the 'Title Generator' doesn't seem like it would be enough for the kinds of people using FCP.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks so much!
    David

Thanks so much for the response!
Ok, here's my next question, when I build titles, I need to see the image behind the text so I know how to block my graphics, create a build, etc. Also I like to generate elements to go with my text, like boxes, bubbles, and lines, etc. Premeire, and Avid will both show the background frame, and allow me to generate all kinds of transparent non-text options right in the frame. Sure, I could use Photoshop or AE, but frankly that's not easy, conveninet, or allows me to easily block my text effectively.
Is there a way for me to pipe the current background frame into LiveType, or Motion, becuase then I could build my graphics without problem.
Thanks again! I really appreciate the help!

  • Livetype "Not enough memory to render a frame"

I'm doing some really easy (fade in, fade out) text for an instructional video in Livetype. My first problem was nesting the .ipr files in final cut and rendering. When I rendered and compressed to DVD one frame of each 7 second clip flashed
"unrendered" So naturally I tried to go back in Livetype and render each text sequence individually. Now it's giving me an error "Not enough memory to render a frame"? Now my machine has 8GBs of memory and I've got 80+GB of hard drive space to work with. Can anyone help me out here?

Sorry, guys, never seen this error in LT.
Mac error boxes are rarely accurate, they're just thrown up by some weird parsing routine, so, unless you can actually feel like the error is relevant, most of us don't bother trying to debug based on the box's description.
I hope you find a solution and please come back to close the thread if you do. It will be very helpful for future "out of memory" searches.

  • Unrendered Livetype titles in FCE

Everytime I try to put a Livetype titles into my FCE project, I try to play it and it says,"Unrendered". I heard that you have to have the sequence settings in FCE so they match the project properties in Livetype. What do I have to switch so that the livetype titles will not say Unrendered while I am playing them in FCE?
And another question- How can I make slow-mo in FCE?

A LiveType project will always need to be rendered unless you switch to Unlimited RT.
    Modify>Speed (Cmd-J).

  • LiveType clips do not fill frame fill FCE

    Hi
I have made some titles in Livetype and have set the frame size the same as my captured footage in FCE at 720x576. However, on playback the Livetype clip plays back at a much smaller size than my captured footage. Aspect ratio on the livetype clip is set to 1.78 and I've tried checking the anamorphic box. I'm shooting PAL in 16:9 and can't understand why the clips are different sizes. Do I need to make changes in Livetype or FCE and what am I doing wrong?
    Kind Regards

Please try to check if any spacing or padding is added for thumbnails , the student url does not work on my end.

  • Why don't livetype titles match FCE frame size?

    Hi
I've made some titles in livetype and imported into FCE but the frame size comes out smaller than the footage in FCE. Both are set to 720x576 anamormphic but the livetype clip doesn't fill the entire frame, just a smaller square in the middle. Is this an FCE setting or livetype setting that I have to change and if so where am I going wrong?
    Regards
    Adrian

I use the following settings in LiveType Canvas, for Widescreen PAL titles and whole-screen movies:
    W = 1024 pix
    12.8" at 80 dpi
    H = 576 pix
    8" at 72 dpi
    Frame 25 fps
    Pixel Aspect Ratio = 1
    Uncheck "square pixels".
Do this immediately on launching LiveType and before doing anything else with it. There is no need to set the anamorphic flag in FCE's Browser. It works for me - the resulting QT movie imports into FCE as Widescreen and fills FCE's canvas.
BTW, I assume that you have FCE's Canvas set to "fit to Window"!

  • FCP importing LiveType movie at incorrect frame rate

    Hi all...working at a client, using OS10.4.8, FCP 4.5, PowerPC dual 2.5...
My problem...I'm exporting a movie from LiveType...a simple moving background. I know nothing about LiveType, all I'm doing is selecting "Export Movie" and selecting a video only DV/DVCPRO NTSC 720x480 29.97 export, and exporting.
The movie appears to export fine. When I open it up in Quicktime player and check the properties, sure enough, it's a DV movie 720x480 running at 29.97.
When I import it into FCP, however, FCP insists that it is a DV NTSC movie - running at 25 fps.
Ya know, is there some sort of little chromium switch I forgot to throw before importing? Is this a toss prefs and re-import problem? Or should I just go into the hotel-motel mismanagement business?

No. Like I said, I'm a LiveType ignoramus.
I'll be back there next Wednesday, and I will attempt this.
