Unresolved dependencies udev =160 gnome issues

Hello everyone, I recently did a fresh installation of arch linux, and everything is setup accept the Desktop Enviroment. I decided to install gnome. Everything worked well, accept when I went to install (gdm login manager) it gave me this error.
resolving dependencies....
warning: cannot resolved "udev>=160", a dependency of "upower"
: : the following package(s) cannot be upgraded due to unresolved dependencies
gdm
I tried install udev>=160 and it asks me do I want to continue the installation and I hit Yes and it just goes back to the terminal screen, so im not sure if it even installed or just rather ignored itself. This is the first time ive ever received this error when installing gnome on Arch. Unless there has been some recent upgrades maybe?
Here are a copy of my log hopefully its helpful.
This is my pacman.log

Thank you for the help much appreciated. If there is anything else I should provide or is needed defianetily let me know.
Thank You

find an up to date mirror and do pacman -Syyu before installing gnome

    Umm, so how do I do to install lib32-libwbclient?
    https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/lib32-libwbclient/
    https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/AUR
    Maybe it wasn't clear from my original post, but I have yaourt installed and I tried to install lib32-libwbclient by running yaourt -S lib32-libwbclient, which resulted in the error message in my original post. I have used yaourt to successfully install packages in the past, such as ttf-ms-fonts and owncloud-client.

  • Unresolved dependencies found

    Hi there,
    I have created a Java-Classes-DC (JCDC) and a WebDynpro-DC (WDDC). Both DC's are local. I put JavaBean classes in the JCDC. I use this JavaBeans as model in my WDDC. The WDDC uses the public part of the JCDC for build time and deploy time. I can build both DC's with no error (i get a warning for JCDC). When i deploy the WDDC i get this error:
    Unresolved dependencies found for the following SDAs:
    1.: development component 'WDDC'/'vendor/'local'/'20060130144017'
    dependency:
           name:     'JCDC'
         vendor:     'vendor'
    Deployment will be aborted.
    Any advice will be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Matthias

    Hallo Matthias,
    Java DCs cannot be deployed. Consequently you have to add the sources of such a DC to a Public Part of purpose "<b>assembly</b>". The <i>Public Part Dependcy Type</i> of this DC in the embedding DC must be "Runtime". An additional Public Part for the purpose "compilation" must be added too, so that the contained jar-files are added to classpath entries of the embedder DC. See ... <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/e0/020340dcf41e07e10000000a1550b0/content.htm">SAP NetWeaver Online Help - Java DC</a>and <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/e6/504540d1b79523e10000000a1550b0/content.htm">Dependencies Between DC Types</a>
    <b>Other Solution:</b> - <u>Embedding Jar-Files within Web Dynpro DCs</u>
    Another approach for solving you problem and for simplifying life is to embed such model-jar files within a Web Dynpro DC, which is a deployable DC. In this case only one public part with purpose "compilation" must be declared.

    Hi RishiAbrol and Juan,
    Many thnx for you help, I am new developer and may miss some steps of deployment. I gonna tell you about my steps as followings;
    1.Create webdynpro project
    2.Create application webdynpro such as hello world!
    3.Build project by Deployment Component-->.ear
    4.Deploy .ear via SDM
    5.Error happens as above.
    Could you please tell me which step that I'm missing or make mistake?
    For RishiAbrol , I'd checked service as you comment at my server,they have no service--> tc/bi/jrfc/api running. How can I do next?
    Note: I use NWDS 7.1 and EP7.0

  • Shaman - cannot re-install, unresolvable dependencies after upgrade

    after the most recent pacman upgrade, i cannot re-install shaman. error message: unresolvable dependencies pacman <3.3.  does shaman need to be updated before it can be installed now? any workarounds? or recommendations for a pacman front-end? (i use pacman & yaourt from bash and shaman both, but having a gui to work from is sometimes more convienent for somethings). i have arch on two other machines that upgraded with the same result.
    thank you in advance for any help,
    rg
    Update: it's a problem on Chakra, too http://chakra-project.org/bbs/viewtopic.php?id=1187
    in the meantime i've been trying to compile shaman versions from aur, git etc., but getting a couple errors, debug, debug, debug...

    we had a little snafu when archlinux-extra released their split packages. suddenly all dependencies were broken because the split pkgs didn't "provide" the whole kde modules anymore but just it's part (which is of course fine and the way to go), which resulted in two of our devs emergency-rebuilding our whole repo yesterday ^^ I don't know whether i686 is done yet, but x86_64 is already done (but the packages are in kdemod-testing)
    just follow this link for x86_64 and this link for i686 to find out how you should configure your pacman for the moment.
    (oh and we can't build shaman either for the moment, pacman 3.3 seems to have broke something in shaman with the new libalpm. our dev should be working on it)
    cheers

    you answer is right there whatever your installing depends on compiz-git, which conflicts with compiz-quinn-cvs, Either agree to replace it or force it with f

  • Mounting drives on a udev+hal+gnome-volume-manager setup

    Hi,
    I set up Arch Linux on a friends computer. The setup seems to work, for example gnome-cd is started when one inserts an Audio CD. However, everything that involves mounting does not work. The error message given by gnome-volume-manager is
    mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/sda1,
    or too many mounted file systems
    * /bin/mount has sid set, 755, owner and file group are root
    * udev is set up correctly, so /dev/hdc for example does have write rights for the group disk, and the user is member of that group.
    What could be wrong?

    The problem was mainly about mounting, and not about /dev/sda or /dev/hdc. We found the solution:
    The "mount" binary in Arch's current is confused by the entry "managed" that hal puts in /etc/fstab. You can correct this by
    a) Adding a policy file in /usr/share/hal/fdi/95userpolicy named, for example, local.fdi that hinders hal from doing so:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1"?> <!-- -*- SGML -*- -->
    <deviceinfo version="0.2">
    <!-- Default policies merged onto computer root object -->
    <device>
    <match key="info.udi" string="/org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/computer">
    <merge key="storage.policy.default.managed_keyword.primary" type="string">user</merge>
    </match>
    </device>
    </deviceinfo>
    Then restart hal by typing
    /etc/rc.d/hal restart
    as root
    b) Patching "mount" as described in Arch Linux bug #1930.[/code]

  • [SOLVED] Removing all uneeded packages, GNOME Issues

    Just setup arch in VirtaulBox, and I got everything working! Hooray, only took 4 tries, but thats what I call the learning process and I love it!
    My issue was this:
    Gnome wouldn't save my theme settings! Each time I ran it with startx my theme settings were reset to default! I'd change the theme to DarkRoom and change my icon set to Tango, and then after logging out, and running startx again, poof, back to default. My background, however, DID save.
    So after that experiment, I've decided to use KDE, just cause I wanna do it, no real reason, besides learning as much as I can
    I've gone and removed gnome:
    pacman -Rc gnome
    Now I'm trying to clear out all the excess packages, so I ran:
    pacman -Qdt
    It shows a whole bunch of stuff, so what I'm asking is this: How can I clear out all unneeded packages, orphaned packages, etc
    Coming from the Debian based world, I know I could use apt-get autoremove to get rid of unneeded packages, and I would like to know if there is a way to do this using pacman
    If not, is it possible to run pacman -Qdt and export the output to a file, then run pacman -R  and have it access that file and remove all those packages?
    Thank you for the assistance!

    Pierre wrote:1) You should have use pacman -Rcsn gnome
    2) You can removed unneeded packages by pacman -Rcsn `pacman -Qqdt`
    Thank you for the fast reply, I will try to remember that!
    I've tried running what you suggested, but it doesn't seem to be working...
    pacman -Rcsn 'pacman -Qqdt"
    says its not found in the local db
    Mefju wrote:Just use pacman -Rs $(pacman -Qqdt) as root
    This will do it! I get it, make it use the string output of pacman -Qqdt as the input for pacman -Rcsn ?

  • 2007.08 Gnome issues

    I was running 2007.05 great for a while...prolly close to a month. I rebooted about 2 days ago and i got a kernel panic and i couldn't figure out why (i tried the fallback kernel and some other stuff to troubleshoot too), from that i decided to reinstall rather than fix the problem (since i didn't have any necessary stuff/data/whatever). I had the 2007.08 CD and in installed from that and the installation seemingly went fine as well as the installation of Gnome and X. I then set the inittab to Runlevel 5 and the login manager line from xdm to gdm and rebooted. From there is where the problems started. the error i continually get on boot (everything loads find until GDM) is that gdm can't start (i forget the exact error) and i get the error that something is throttled for respawning too fast. just to make sure i didn't do anything wrong, i logged in as my normal user again and tried to exit the .xinitrc ...When i opened nano, the file was empty so i added the line "exec gnome-session", saved it out and rebooted and same issue...I followed the steps on this guide: http://raiden.net/?cat=2&aid=276 pretty much to the letter and it worked on 2007.05 (sometime in early August, late July with everything up-to-date as of those dates), so i'm wondering what's going on.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated
    Thanks
    JD

    I'm not sure exactly what is breaking/going wrong with pacman and installing gnome but i've tried from a fresh install and upgrading also. This has happened to me. To fix this problem just chmod 4777 /tmp and you should be good to go again.
    It is complaining about ORBit and some other stuff etc?
    nope, not complaining about orbit from what i can see

  • Gnome issue

    Hi all, I am having an issue with Gnome - there is something wrong with the way windows and toolbars get rendered:
    As you can see, the three items in the top-right hand corner are squished together, it is impossible to log out/shut down using the menu, for example. You can also see the notifications bar at the bottom is not being rendered correctly.
    This doesn't happen every time I log in - sometimes everything is displayed correctly. I have tried reinstalling gnome (pacman -Runs gnome && pacman -S gnome), and this hasn't fixed it.
    Please help!
