Unresponsive imovie 10.01, what to do???

My iMovie 10.01 is unresponsive and it says my application memory ran out, can somebody help?
I don't know much about mac, and in a great hurry PLEASE HELP D:

Two thoughts:
1.  The current version of iMovie is 10.0.2.  You should update.  Open the App Store, click on the "Updates" tab, and do that.
2.  You are probably running some memory hogging application.  Investigate that by going to the Applications > Utilities folder and opening Activity Monitor.  Click on its "Memory" tab.  If you're running something using a lot of memory, like a non-Safari browser, a Mac Cleaner, anti-virus, etc., get rid of it.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

I fixed the problem.. but it was very, very strange. I had a very long section for credits and set the line spacing to 1.0.. for some reason this caused it. I removed it, and it worked fine. I put it back, and I couldn't preview or play the video.
I don't know why that could cause that big of a problem, but it did..

You need more free space on your hard drive.
Where do Your material come from
    Camera
    External hard disk
    USB-memory
And all are connected so that iMovie can find it ?

After phone support from apple I ended up creating a new project and adding all 117 clips back in individually till I found out what clips flagged and would not allow me to export. I had 3 I deleted and replaced and everything works now 1hr after tedious work....

Shorter clips than 1,5 sec might be one of the culptrits
    Bengt cont.
    Set-Up might differ
Mac OS - most probably X.7 or more
    iMovie version - more than iM'11 v. 9.0.4
    Action taken
Finalizing project - I never do as I never understood the gain to do so
Share as HD to iDVD - never give any gain but if it works the resulting DVD is less quality than if SD-quality was shared
    fps - set - I only use PAL (25fps)

  • Just updated iMovie today. What happened to the Ripple transition?

Just updated iMovie today. What happened to the Ripple transitions?

I had the same problem.  After about and hour with Apple care and several different people, I was told Apple eliminated the Ripple transition as part of the 9.0.6 update.  It's gone...no way to get it back in 9.0.6.  I was just finishing a project that used a bunch of this transition, so I found a work around.  I used Time Machine to revert back to the old version of iMovie (9.0.4).  When asked if I wanted to replace or keep both files, I elected to keep both files.  I now have a version of iMovie called iMovie (Original).  That still has the Ripple effect.  Seems to be working fine also.  I can't image why Apple did this.  I left feedback in the feedback forum.  Recommend we all do it so they will place the Ripple back.  This is the first time I've really used iMovie for a big project.  I've discovered I'm probably better off with something like Final Cut or Adobe Elements.  That's what I know.  Hope it helps.

  • "Old" source file in iMovie, compared to what's on MobileMe

I recently made my first iMovies. The first time I uploaded the file, what appeared on MobileMe was an older version of what I thought I'd completed. Possibly, I uploaded from that last saved version, and even though there's no "save" button in iMovie, it's possible that the changes I'd last made, and that I'd intended to be in the upload, weren't included though fault of my own.
But the second upload has the opposite problem! What I see on MobileMe is what I want. But in my iMovie project library, the file that says it is posted on MobileMe is different what is actually posted there, as though the file reverted to a previous version after uploading.
Has anyone encountered this, or can anyone conceive a fix for it. I want to make further changes, and I don't want to have to work from an older version than I last "completed."

  • IMovie to iPod - what is the highest resolution setting possible?

I'm creating an iMovie and i want to save it to my 30gb video ipod, and then play it back on a lcd projector to a 12 foot screen (for a presentation in a room full of people). If i use the standard 320x240 resolution, i'm pretty sure it will look very pixelated when shown on a 720p lcd projector on a 12 foot screen.
What is the highest resolution you can save your iMovie to an iPod, and then playback on a high resolution TV? I've tried several settings, but none are recognized by the ipod.
    Thanks!

Thanks for the info. I do not have a laptop (well, not a Mac laptop - bummer), and dragging my 20" imac will be a pain. I always bring backups, so i will also burn DVD and copy to video camera.
Just thought it would be cool to walk and plug in my ipod to the projector. Pretty sure no one in my group has seen that before.
Last question... can i export from imovie with the higher settings, or do i need to save to destop and then export with quicktime?
    Thanks!

  • New mt lion upgrade and no more iMovie...what can I do?

I recently upgraded my iMac to Mt Lion.
Now, I've lost all my iMovies.
    What can I do?

If your version of iMovie is too old to run under ML, buy the current version from the App Store.

  • Caught out by iMovie '08 downgrade  -- what can I do?

Hi, a short while ago I bought a 24" iMac, largely because of the iLife suite, and in particular because my teenaged son is getting more interested in media production. iMovie is what he is using at high school for his work. Well, it has come to project time, and I now find that iMovie '08 has been gutted, and that all of the features he is using on the school Macs have been removed. It doesn't even have a proper timeline. At first I thought he was exagerating, but when I did some investigation it turns out he was right. Also, all of the 'downgrade' options seem to have been yanked by Apple. Apparently '09 doesn't fix the problems.
So what can I do? I feel like I have been duped, and wasted two grand -- this was the primary reason I bought a Mac. He is now having to take his files into school and use their machines, which defeats the object of having a home machine. I can't afford Final Cut. Is there ANY way to get iMovie '06 on my machine?

Apple removed their free download site for purchasers of iLife 8. The only way to get iMovie 6 is to buy iLife 6 if you can find it. Try ebay.
If you ever had it on another computer, you can connect the computers and copy it to your new iMac.
iMovie 9 does have more features than iM8, so before getting exasperated over it, look at Apple's tutorial and check out other tutorial/info sites to see if you can be comfortable using it. You and your son may find that it is ideal for his purposes.

  • Trying to burn movie in iMovie...what do I do??

I have almost created a movie using iMovie, now what do I do to get onto my DVD??
And...can I insert a photo slideshow in the middle of my movie?  How?

There is no edequate substitute for iDVD, it's just that Apple have decided to withdraw it.
Apple insists that the entire world has access to fast broadband and wants to distribute home movies to friends and relatives via download (iCloud) rather than mailing them a DVD. The fact that in reality not all users do, has so far had no effect on this policy. If you scream and shout loudly enough down the phone Apple may send you a free copy of iDVD. That worked for some, but is now said to have been withdrawn by Apple. Also, you can complain bitterly here, perhaps suggesting that Apple could have provided a choice between using iCloud and burning DVDs:
    http://www.apple.com/feedback/
Whilst Macs with a Superdrive continue to be able to burn video DVDs, the software for so doing, iDVD, is no longer included in the iLife bundle that comes with OS 10.7 Lion (which also omitted iWeb) or will come with OS 10.8 Mountain Lion. And it is no longer included in the iLife 11 from the online Apple Store: http://www.apple.com/ilife/. Your only solution is to look on Amazon or eBay and try to get an older version that includes iDVD.
However, the vastly more expensive FCPX can burn a DVD without iDVD or DVD Studio Pro involvement, but lack the themes etc of iDVD. Also, of course, there is Roxio Toast.
And if you think Microsoft are any better, their new Windows 8 operating system will not play DVDs, or burn them, unless customers buy an extra upgrade, the company has announced.
In other words, computer manufacturers have declared optical media as dead, long before consumers are ready to stop using them, which is fine as long as they offered us a choice, but they won’t even do that.

  • IMovie '11 Project - What is happening to my photos added?

I've got a project 75% completed in iMovie.  All videos added, and photos were being added with no problem.  Now when I try to add a photo, as I highlight it and drag to the project, anywhere in the project, a photo I deleted comes up instead of the photo I'm trying to copy.  It shows up with a grey bar in front of it, in the middle of it, and at the end of it.  Always the same old deleted photo, never the one I'm trying to copy.  Tried insert a photo in different spots, different photos, and deleted the entire clip but it still keeps happening.  I'm sure I've done something, just don't know what it is to be able to undo it!  When I hit the space bar to preview in the viewer, the old deleted photo that is showing in the clip doesn't even show up in the viewer.  ***?

  • Imovie hd 6 - what is going on?

I teach basic video production in a high school setting and yesterday discovered that none of my students could download any footage into imovie hd from any of the cameras we have in class. We have 6 mini's and two imacs, we're using Canon GL2's and JVC widescreen miniDV cameras.
Overnight, nothing is now working? When we plug the camera's in, the software no longer recognizes the camera and we no longer get the blue screen ready to import. Software updates were run on all of the minis and imacs but to no avail...maybe this was the problem? I see that there is a reoccurring theme on these awesome boards! Any ideas? Even when I plug numerous camera's into my own MacBookPRO nothing now registers. And the same goes for my bosses MacBook.
This is very frustrating....and I have a class in two hours!

And the same goes for my bosses MacBook
THAT of course is the real clincher!
    Welcome to the forums benfancy!
Before we go any further, what version of OS X are you all running?
Have you previously been able to import into iMovie 6 from those cameras?

  • Is this effect possible in IMovie? (and what is it called?)

Hello, I have no knowledge, but I imagine it is some extreme filter or anamorphic lens.  I love it and want to be able to do it!
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZSkeQkb8NMo
From a "spaghetti western" i believe...
    Thank you

this is no filter, just distortion.
in FCPX, there's a Transformation tool allowing this.
For iMovie, we need the free tool MpegStreamclip.
    export your clip/project from iMovie
    open that file in MpegStreamclip
export, settings: 'wrong' aspect ratio, instead 16:9, I manually chose 4:3 (960x720)
re-import that back to iMovie, insert into 16:9 sequence - presto!
… from Porsche to Beatle! …-

  • IMovie...what's up with the destroyed pixels on some photos?

    Screenshot of problem: http://i.imgur.com/59KoCeD.png
Only some imported photos are doing this, not all, and I cannot figure out what on earth is going on. Any insight? Is it something really simple that I'm missing?
Using: MacBook Pro (2010) running OS X Yosemite 10.10.2

I've got no problems with an Apple Airport Extreme on 5GHz.
However, there are quite a few WiFi threads here. The rumor sites seem to indicate the 10.10.2 update has WiFi fixes:  http://9to5mac.com/2015/01/26/os-x-yosemite-10-10-2-to-add-icloud-drive-in-time- machine-wi-fi-security-voiceover-fixes/

  • HT4718 I have successfully upgraded to Mtn Lion on my Mac OS X10.8.3 Desk Top and am missing several Apps - such as IPhoto, IMovie, etc. What's up w/that?

I recently upgraded my Snow Leopard OS X to Mtn Lion, vers. 10.8.3 and all seems well, however, I seem to be missing several (many?) apps which I had before and which I believe came with my Mac OS X desktop when I purchased it in 2012. Most importantly, I'm missing IPhoto and IMovie. The "Apps" folder is certainly much smaller now than before and I don't seem to have provision to re-install my apps - several of which are absolutely essential.
I did go to the App Store, signed in and looked at my purchases. They did NOT include IMovie and IPhoto = which are absolutely essential to my use of this Mac - and the reason I purchased it in the first place.
If you have suggestions, please and give me some ideas. I am a 73 year old Disabled Veteran and def need help!
    Thanks to one and all.

Since your Mac came with Snow Leopard preinstalled you will need to use the disks that came with it to reinstall iPhoto and iMovie with a custom install of the Installed Bundled software.  You should have a disk similar to #3 in the screenshot (lower right hand corner).
Do a custom install of the iApps you need and apply the necessary updaters from the Apple Downloads web page.
