Unresponsive iPad touch screen

My iPad's touch screen randomly stopped responding to touch while I was using it.  I found this strange because I had not dropped it or anything like that, and it had been working just fine.  I first tried a reset and when that didn't work, I restored it.  It is still unresponsive, so I was wondering if anyone had some suggestion as to what I could do next as the nearest Apple Store is not very close to where I live.

Does the iPad turn On OK?
Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.) No data/files will be erased. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430

i have connected ipad to itunes and done it restore seetings then also my touch is not working but
when i connected ipad to i tunes inside functions are working properly but touch screen is not working what can i do

If you have a screen protector on the iPad's screen, try removing it. If you don't or that doesn't help, and restoring the iPad to factory settings has not corrected the problem, then the iPad probably has a hardware problem and will need to be taken or sent to Apple for replacement.
    Regards.

  • How to fix an iPad touch screen?

My iPad touch screen is writing alone and opening many task at the same time.

    Hi jcr1998,
    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like you've already done quite a bit of troubleshooting with the iPad. The article linked below will provide a few more suggestions and help you resolve the issue.

    Resolution
If your device is experiencing any of the symptoms listed above, try the following steps:
    Restart your device
Hold the On/Off button until "slide to power off" appears. Slide to power off your device. When it is off, press the On/Off button to turn it back on.
If you can't restart your device, reset it by pressing and holding the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for a least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
Clean the screen with a soft, slightly damp, lint-free cloth.
Avoid using the device while wearing gloves, with wet hands, or immediately after applying hand lotion.
If you have a protective case, or if you are using a plastic sheet or film on the display, try removing them and testing the device without it.
If the steps above don't resolve your issue, please schedule a service appointment with an Apple Retail Store for evaluation. If an Apple Retail store is not an option, contact Apple to find out your best service option or see theService FAQ for your product.

  • Any Ideas why my two day old ipad touch screen periodically doesn't respond to touch?

Any Ideas why my two day old ipad touch screen periodically doesn't respond to touch?

    See what you missed here:
    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • My apple iPad touch screen is not responding

My apple ipad touch screen is not responding it was working since few hours then that happened. There is no a single point on the responds to touch but everything is working on the welcome screen, detects  the Wi-Fi ... etc.
First thing I did was passing on my local agent store. They did a soft reset what caused lose all data and apps (not a problem) but they didn't fix and asked to visit the support branch .. now i can't use the "Siri trick" and I think it's not helpful after resetting my device.
I tried removing the screen protector but still no hope. Turned off it and cleaned the screen  but didn't help!!
Is There another way? Any expected scenarios/time when I visit the repair branch in Egypt?
I've upgraded to latest (7.12) 2 or 3 weeks ago

    Thanks ..
I've mentioned that I did that now I'm in another stage, The iPad at the main reseller support department and they told me now that they will give me another in return .... the strange thing I have heard was that I have to wait 4 weeks until they get me one from Apple .. I'm i Egypt

  • HT1766 iPad touch screen stopped working.  Can't scroll or select any apps. Can't reboot.  Connect to PC via iTunes doesn't recognize the iPad.

The iPad touch screen suddenly stopped working.  It's been fine, but stopped all of a sudden.  Couldn't reboot since pressing the hibernate button also asked for a "swipe" but couldn't swipe since the screen isn;t sensing any touching.  can't scroll main screen appas.  Can't connect to iTunes, says not connected.  Next stop Apple store unless someone has an idea.

Have you tried a soft-reset ? Press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider if it appears), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

  • My ipad touch screen not, also reseted it. It stops suddenly and goes out of control. Need answer very quickly

My ipad touch screen not, also reseted it. It stops suddenly and goes out of control. Need answer very quickly???????

Try doing a reboot by holding both the power and home buttons until the apple logo appears and it restarts, ignoring the red slider if that appears.
If that does not help, take the iPad to an Apple store genius bar and have the techs check out the screen to see if there is a hardware fault.

  • My IPad touch screen won't respond to my touch. Any ideas?

I used my IPad this morning to check my internet. When I came home this afternoon, there is a message that says IPad hasn't been backed up in 2 weeks. Backups happen when this IPad is plugged in, locked and connected to wifi. I have plugged it in and it is connected to wifi. I try to tap the ok button under the message, but it won't go away, and I can't swipe the screen to actually use my IPad. Ideas on how to get the screen to work?

    Hey gnuz,
There's a bunch of people having this problem since iOS 8 came out. It seems to be affecting iPhones, but perhaps the iPad is having the same issue.
    Check out this post:

Hopefully a fix can be released by Apple soon.

  • IPad touch screen does not respond even after full restore and update

    I have an iPad 2 64 GB
It has for a number of months intermittently stopped responding to any touch screen inputs. This issue began almost as soon as I opened the iPad for the first time. As it was happening very rarely and normally responded eventually, so I thought nothing of it.
This week the iPad will not respond to any touch input at all (Home, On/Off, Volume and Mute buttons still respond). I have tried the hard reset process a number of times and still nothing.
I backed up the device to my machine and applied the latest update 5.1.1 and still no response. I then did a factory reset and still nothing.
I have never dropped or damaged my iPad in any way.
Does anybody know of any ongoing issues with the touch screen or a solution to this problem?

    Thank you.
I've already booked myself in to the Genius Bar this week.
I suspect it is a hardware failure and more specifically a loose internal connection.

  • IPad touch screen not calibrated

My iPad's having problems with its touch screen because sometimes when I type with certain keys, it enters the key twice which is very annoying.
I'm actually typing on my iPad now and it's aautocorrect is the only thing that's fixing it right now. It seems like the lower right of my screen is very uncalibrated along with various spots. This also occurs in apps. For example, when I drag my finger across the screen to drag things it goes back to where it was at random intervals. Say I'm dragging an app to the first page, sometimes the app ggoes back to where it was when I'm a about to place it. I've tried resetting and restarting the iPad but it still has this problem. If aautocorrect wasn't on, this message would just aappear aass gibberish due to all of the double letters appearing even though I tap the key once.
This problem appears on every aapp and is on the iPad itself.

Try doing a reboot by holding both the power and home buttons until the apple logo appears and it restarts, ignoring the red slider if that appears.
If that does not help, take the iPad to an Apple store genius bar and have the techs check out the screen to see if there is a hardware fault.

  • HT1222 my Ipad touch screen is not responding so i can not use the ipad for anything.

i left my ipad in my car after ten minutes return to use ipad but could not log on because the touch screen is not responding. i try updating but to no avail
pls somebody should tell me what to do before i lose my mind because its really frustrating

    Did you try rebooting?
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

  • Ipad Touch Screen

I think i'm having a problem with the touch screen. I have to tap each icon like two or three times to make it work. I went into the mail app and i've got to hit the garbage button like 3 times to make my mail go to trash. The touch screen is a little off. Anyone having this problem?? Is this how the Ipad is?? Is anyone elses running extremely smooth. Is there a setting to calibrate the touch? please help me.

yes i'm using the tips of my fingers, not my nails. I've tried every finger too. I really think the calibration is off. Even when i try to scroll or flip pages it takes like two or three times before it reads my finger.

  • IPad touch-screen sensor the does not work on one part of displey

I have problem with a part of the screen on my iPad. It seems like the sensor on the screen does not work. When draging items or webpages through that section, the dragging stops. It looks like the screen is not detecting my fingers on that part. Part of the screen that is not working is about 1 cm wide. iPad is 1 month old.

Had the same issue with a 1cm strip from top to bottom (portrait) not responding.  I did a backup, a complete factory reset, and then a restore of the backup.  So far it seems to be working again!!

  • My ipad touch screen is not working

I've tried to hard restart but still not working, and I'm in a country which dont have apple store, I just bought it about a month and I never sync it before with itunes, the itunes that my Ipad ever sync before is at the store that I bought my Ipad and it's about 1000 Miles away from I am now, is there any suggestion what should I do??

TRY FORCE IPAD INTO RECOVERY MODE
    1. Turn off iPad
    2. Turn on computer and launch iTunes (make sure you have the latest version of iTune)
    3. Plug USB cable into computer's USB port
    4. Hold Home button down and plug the other end of cable into docking port.
DO NOT RELEASE BUTTON until you see picture of iTunes and plug
    5. Release Home button.
    ON COMPUTER
    6. iTunes has detected iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTunes.
    7. Select "Restore iPad"...
    Note:
    1. Data will be lost if you do not have backup
    2. You must follow step 1 to step 4 VERY CLOSELY.

  • Why has apple not made a 9 key function on existing iPhones and ipad touch screen keyboards?

Does anyone else think this is a good idea for business and education?

I can see its usefulness in certain conditions, please let apple know your opinion.
