Unresponsive Satellite L55t - charges but does not turn on

Hello, I turned on my laptop and the backlight lit up but there was no display. I could hear it turning on and the indicator light came on. When connected to an external monitor, the display was just fine. I did some research, opened it up and disconnected and reconnected a few things (which I do often) and closed it back up. When I tried to turn it on this morning it was unresponsive. When connected to the ac adapter the charging light will turn on but the power button does not turn the laptop on. I desperately need this laptop for school, it's beyond it's warranty and I don't have the money to get it serviced. If I can find the source of the problem I'm open to replacing said part as long as it's not more expensive than sending it out to Toshiba. I've since taken the entire thing apart. The only things connected are the motherboard and CPU, both of which I've taken out and cleaned (fan was gross but I digress). I'm handy enough to be able to put it back together correctly and I know the basic parts, but I was hoping that someone could walk me though some troubleshooting as I put it back together. Or if that's not how it's done, maybe someone can help me take it apart in the right order so I can isolate the problem part. I have high hopes that it can work again (as it was powering up just fine a couple days ago with the exception if the display problem) I'm just not sure how to go about getting it back to that point. Thanks in advance for the help!

It is experiencing the same problem in my l55t b5330. Please need a solution!Your support site is here.  We don't know what exact model number the OP had as he/she did not specify.   The OP was experiencing one problem, then took computer apart and put back together and then began experiencing a different (albeit similar) problem.  Why don't you start from scratch and describe exactly what is going on with your computer as I'm pretty sure the OP will not be back.

I've tried a hard reset by pressing and holding both the power button and the home button on numerous occasions for different durations, and nothing. I've tried to plug it back into an outlet, and nothing. I tried plugging into my Macbook and iTunes doesn't even read the phone, still nothing. My phone was fully charged when I took it off of the charger (around 1:50 a.m.) Sunday morning, November 7, 2010 (daylight savings) and I'm not sure if that could be the issue. Please help.

  • My iPod Classic 120GB is clicking and not turning on. It has been charged but does not hold charge. I am not able to restore factory settings. Error code and have tried troubleshooting options without success. Thoughts?

My iPod Classic 120GB makes a clicking noise when syncing with iTunes and will not sync. It will not turn on at this time and has been charged but does not hold the charge. After trying to sync, iTunes states that iPod must be restored. Have tried to do this but not successful, I receive an error code and have done the troubleshooting steps for the error and I am still not able to sync or use my iPod. HELP?

    Hi mafiose15,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
Restoring your iPod to factory settings is the best way to try and get it back to working order. You can use the instructions below to restore it:
    How to restore iPod
Verify that you have an active Internet connection, because you may need to download new versions of the iTunes and iPod Software.
Download and install the latest version of iTunes if necessary.
Open iTunes. Connect your iPod to your computer using the USB or FireWire cable that came with your iPod.
After a few moments, your iPod will appear in the Source panel in iTunes.
Select your iPod in the Source panel. You will see information about your iPod appear in the Summary tab of the main iTunes window.
    Click Restore.
If you are using a Mac, you will be asked to enter an administrator’s name and password.
A progress bar will appear on the computer screen, indicating that stage one of the restore process has begun. When this stage is done, iTunes will present one of two messages with instructions specific to the iPod model you are restoring.
Disconnect iPod and connect it to iPod Power Adapter (typically applies to older iPod models).
Leave iPod connected to computer to complete restore (typically applies newer iPod models).
During stage two of the restore process, the iPod displays an Apple logo as well as a progress bar at the bottom of the display. It is critical that the iPod remain connected to the computer or iPod power adapter during this stage.
Note: The progress bar may be difficult to see, because the backlight on the iPod display may be off.
After stage two of the restore process is complete, the iTunes Setup Assistant window will appear. It will ask you to name your iPod and choose your syncing preferences, as it did when you connected your iPod for the first time.
You can find the instructions in this article:

  • When i connect my ipod nano 2nd gen, it charges but does not appear in windows or itunes.  I tried the reset but it didn't work.  how can i fix this?

I bough a 4g Ipod nano 2nd gen for my cousins birthday.  When i plug it into my computer it charges but does not show up in windows or itunes.  I tried reseting it, reinstalling itunes, everything the site said but it didn't help. I am trying to sync songs to it for my cousin, but it won't work with it not connecting.  Could the wire have something to do with it or is there a bigger problem here?

I tried to use my ipod as a disk to transfer my itunes library from my desktop to my notebook (both Dell), now my ipod charges, but does not show up in itunes or on either of my computers. I have used the advice of going to control panel and unchecking the box under power management but that didn't work, CAN SOMEONE PLEASE PLLLEEEEAAAASSSSSSSEEEEEEE HELP ME?
I have windows xp on one and vista on the other, if that helps.

This worked for me, don't know if it will for you. Have ITunes open. While IPod is connected to computer press(at the same time) the menu and center buttons until your screen goes black and shows the apple icon then immediately press the forward button. Your IPod should show up. It won't hurt to try it, even if it doesn't work. Hope this is of some help to you.

My new iPhone 4 will not play on the iHome iP1 Speaker System. I have removed the case and seated it properly and it charges, but does not play music. How can I get it to work?

    Hi there Graham!
I have a couple of articles that can help you troubleshoot this issue. First, if you are downloading HD content, you will need to know the system requirements for HD playback, which can be found here:
iTunes: Purchasing and viewing HD videos
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3209
Next, you will want to check your video playback settings on your Windows machine. The steps for that can be found right here:
Troubleshooting iTunes for Windows Vista or Windows 7 video playback performance issues

Hope that helps. Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities!

Try a reboot by holding both the power and home buttons until the apple logo appears, ignore the red slider if that appears.  See if that clears the glitch.

my iphone 4g just shut down. i was just using it a moment ago then when i saw it's already off. i tried to turn it on but won't budge. i attached it to charger but still not turn on.

Charge it for 15 minutes with the wall charger. Then hold the HOME and SLEEP buttons at the same time until an Apple logo appears.

  • My iphone won't turn on at all and when i connect it to a charger the apple sign just flashes on and off but does not turn on?

I've tried charging it overnight and it still will not turn on, when connected to the charger the apple sign just goes on and off but does not do anything, i've tried resetting it and this also does not work, but then once taken off the charger it doesn't even say the sign for charging it just does nothing

Turn your phone off and connect your cable to the computer, but not the device just yet. Start up iTunes. Now, hold down the home button on your phone and plug it in to the cable - don't let go of the button until iTunes tells you it's detected a phone in recovery mode. Now you can restore to factory settings.

  • When I connect my iphone 5 to charge, repeated again and again the charge sound, but does not turn! HELP!!

help with iphone, you may not start and repeat the sound over and over again that the screen is broken?

    Hello obrunaga,
Thank you for providing the details of the issue you are experiencing with your iPhone.
I recommend following steps 2-6 below for an issue like the one you described:
If a single application is not responding or stops responding when it opens, you can force it to close.
If the device is unresponsive or if certain controls aren't working as expected, restart your device.
If the device remains unresponsive or does not turn on (or power on),reset your device.
If there is no video or if the screen remains black, verify that the device has enough charge to turn on:
If you are using an iPad, ensure that it's connected to the USB Power Adapter supplied with the device.
Let charge for at least twenty minutes, then see if it starts normally.
If there is no image on the screen, press the Sleep/Wake button to attempt to wake the device.
If the screen displays a red battery icon, continue charging the device until the battery is fully charged.
If the above steps do not resolve the issue, or the if the screen remains black or shows a persistent Apple logo, try restoring with iTunes:
Connect the device to your computer and open iTunes.
If the device appears in iTunes, select and click Restore on the Summary pane. Learn more about restoring iOS software.
If the device doesn't appear in iTunes, try to force the device into recovery mode, and then restore it.
If the above steps do not resolve the issue, contact Apple.
You can find the full article here:
iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3281
If you get to step 5, I recommend backing up your iPhone before performing the restore:

  • What can i do if my ipod 4g is charging but will not turn on?, what can i do if my ipod 4g is charging but will not turn on?

Hey guys!! Well i left my ipod outside for like 5 min. In the sun but then i went to get it and it said that the tempeture was too hot so i left it cool off for a minute. Then i turned it on and it was working fine but it ran out of battery and it turned off.  I went to put it to charge and it said it was charging so i waited for it to turn on by itself but it never did. It just kept saying low battery charging. I left it to charge ALL night and when i woke up it still said low battery charging!! What can i do to fix this someone please help!!!  Reseting it work, ? And how to reset?? THANKS!!!!!

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Ipod Touch Charges but does Not connect.

    Hello,
I do not know much about computers and even less on how to fix any issues but here is my problem
When I connect my Ipod Touch, it will charge but will not show up in my computer. I have a Dell Laptop Windows 7.
here is what I have tried
Uninstalled Itunes and then Reinstalled it. (I deleted Everything related to iTunes)
Rest iPod by holding the Power and Home button. I even Turned it off and then On.
I went into my Computer under Services and Stopped then started my Apple Mobile Device and made sure it was on Automatic Start Up Type.
Plugged it in my Sister's Laptop and it installed the linked to her iTunes no problem.
    ANy ideas?

    Did you do everything here:
