Unresponsive screen and red/blue lines.

Today I took my phone off the charger and as I was trying to access my phone the screen was unresponsive. Then I noticed thin red and blue lines that occasionally show up. I researched this problem, but no help. I restarted my phone, factory restarted my phone, took out and put in the micro sim, and took the screen protector off. Any suggestions before rushing to the Apple Store or phone repair shop? By the way this is an iPhone 5 thats almost 2 years old.

Do a reboot by holding both the power and home buttons until the apple logo appears, ignore the red slider if that appears.  If the problem is still there, visit the Apple store genius bar.

  • White screen and virtical blue lines

I was playing Skyrim in bootcamp when my computer stopped working, I saw a brief error message which I didn't get a chance to read then the computer turned its self off.  Every time I try to restart the computer I get a white screen with vertical blue lines, then after a minute it goes grey. I have followed advise given to others with similar problems. Diagnostics does nothing, I've only managed to successfully run in safe mode once, but it will not run again. the only thing I am able to do is select the start up drive at the beginning using the option key but that's as far as I can get.
running an imac 27" late 2009 upgraded to maverics. boot camp is windows 7.

  • My macbookpro 15" screen has vertical blue lines

    Hello,
    I have a Macbook Pro 15" (mid 2010) 2.53GHz Interl Core i5 running OSX Lion 10.7.4.
Generally the computer and screen are in good condition and have had no damage.
The screen has Vertical blue lines and there is a tint of blue generally. The startup apple grey screen however is perfect, it is only when it enters the login screen that the lines appear. All the colours are off. Other than these lines the computer works perfectly
The computer was used yesterday (09 June 2012) without a problem for approx 1hour. It was then left for the day indoors on a desk out of direct sunlight. The computer was switched on later that evening and the problem started to appear
I have already tried to reset the PRAM and SMC with no affect.
I also read that it may be a cable problem, however as the startup screen works perfectly i question this.
    Please can you help!
    Thanks in advance,
    Alex.

I suggest you take it to an Apple store genius bar or a repair facility for evaluation.  This is most likely a hardware problem.
    Ciao.

  • IMac 21.5" boots to white screen with vertical blue lines/bars then locks up

iMac 21.5" (mid 2010) Intel Core i3 4GB RAM with Radeon HD 4670 boots to white screen with vertical blue lines/bars:
Then it locks up after a few minutes, at which point the screen changes to white with these blue symbol things all over the screen:
If boot to Safe Mode, it still has the white screen with blue lines/bars, but eventually loads the login screen and I can successfully login and get to the desktop, but even that has the bars/lines.
Eventually, after enough restarts or hard shutdowns it will boot normally with no video/display issues. I've run disk checks, did the SMC and PRAM resets, checked logs (that I know of), and have even taken it completely apart, cleaned it out, reseated everything, put it all back together, but no change. I've read a few other posts about similar issues (but not quite the same video issue as this) where people had the logic boars replaced or reinstalled OSX, but that didn't always fix it. Any ideas? Has anyone seen this issue before? Thank you.

    Is this a dead disk?
    Very well could be.
If you can not startup from the Hardware Test, in Safe Mode or from > OS X Recovery  as discribed in the Support article's.
Dig out the original Install Disc set that came with the iMac and do one of the following.
    1. Attempt to Repair the Hard Drive.
Start from your Mac OS X Install disc: Insert the installation disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.
    Click the First Aid tab.
Click the disclosure triangle to the left of the hard drive icon to display the names of your hard disk volumes and partitions.
Select your Mac OS X volume.
Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk.
    2. Run the Hardware Test from the second Install Disc.
        1. Insert Disc 2 and Startup holding the D key.
        2. Select the Extended Hardware Test.
Then if you still can not get anything going, you need to contact your Local Apple Store or AASP and make a Service appointment.

  • I have a 17" Macbook pro with flickering red and cyan(blue) lines across the screen. The issue disappears temporarily when I tap on the computer, and the problem does not occur when I use external display or try to screen capture the problem.

I purchased my Macbook (17") through a certified apple tecnition in August 2012, it was refurbished and the motherboard was completely replaced. I do a lot of photo editing, but I have been unable to do so because of the red vibrating lines that interrupt my screen. The issue disappears temporarily when I tap on the computer, and the problem does not occur when I use external display or try to screen capture the problem. I brought the computer back to the technition I purchased it from and he said that it was a problem with my fan, so I have two new fans but the issue is still occuring. He says he doesnt know whats wrong. Does anyone have any information on this issue?
Here is an image of the issue
    http://www.flickr.com/photos/67839707@N08/8884847081/

I recommend having your Mac serviced by someone competent. A force sufficient to "blow apart" the fans was clearly excessive and may have damaged the display cable, as well as any number of other problems.
Dust is properly cleaned with a vacuum, preferably one designed for computer service, and they are not cheap.
Compressed air should never be used. It just blows dust everywhere, often into places where it can no longer be removed.

  • Ipod Nano 7th Generation with thin green, dark blue and light blue lines on the screen?

I have an Ipod Nano 7th Generation. It was brand new about a year ago, but roughly 5 months in the screen had a single dark blue line running down the screen, this has now developed into 4 light blue lines running horizontally and another green line running vertically.
I think it may be something to do with the pixels and the screen - something to do with the fact that they display red, green and blue colors?
I have restarted the ipod but to no avail. I have tried getting into the system settings as well but cannot seem to manage to access them.
    Any help?

Take it to the Apple Store to get it fixed.

  • My iPhone has red & blue lines.

Recently (today to be exact) I came back inside to realize my iPhone 5C had red and blue lines going up and down the screen. I thought it was no big deal till i realized that i also could not swipe my phone to unlock it nor turn it off. It takes numerous tries to actually unlock the phone, then after its hard to click anything. The red and blue lines just flicker. I tried resetting and actually got it to turn off. I'm not sure what got it to this but its preventing me from doing a lot of things.

  • What is the white horizontal line and red vertical line on my brand new ipad mini?

Bought a brand new ipad mini 2 for my sons Christmas, took it out the box and it was during the set up process, ie entering his iTunes and icloud account, a white horizontal line and a red vertical line appeared on the screen and is there all the time now.  Have tried switching off and on and resetting, but it is still there.  Any ideas??

    Hi Tolmivooz,
So the lines didn't appear until you were into the setup?
Does the orientation of the lines change when you rotate the screen?
Thanks for trying the restart and reset. Please see if a restore helps.

  • How do I connect to computers that are being used in the lab, but have no address listed on the "all computers" screen and say "off line" while they are being used?

Thanks for any help I can get.  I'm the new guy here at school, and did not set up the system, so I'm not familiar with any of the individual steps for correcting problems.  My question is listed in the window up top.
    Jim

Thanks for the response. I tried to find out what you asked.  For example:
    1. Computer #35 is listed on the "all computers" screen but says "access denied", "not authorized",  right click for " get info" has no administrators listed, and I don't know how to add my computer as one.
    2.  "Scanner" screen # 35 is not listed either in "Bonjour", or "Local Network" (ethernet interface)
    3.  "Scanner 2" screen - same.
    4.  "Scanner 3" screen - same.
    5.  "Computer Lab" screen #35 is listed, but says "off line", "access denied"
I hope this gives us somewhere to start and go from there.  Thanks.

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
Please try this sequence...note that, throughout the entire 4h15m process, your BB must remain connected to a known-good wall charger (not PC USB):
With the battery inside, connect your BB to the wall charger
Leave it alone for 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the display does
    Remove the battery
    Wait 15 minutes
    Insert the battery
Wait another 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the display does
This has been known to "kick start" some BBs.
It is also possible that your battery or BB has experienced a problem...to test, this sequence is needed:
Obtain a known good and already fully charged additional battery...use it in your BB and see what happens
Obtain access to a known good and identical BB...use your battery in it and see what happens
The results of this will indicate if it's your BB or your battery that has the problem.
Like insurance, backups are neither a reactive nor optional activity...if you cannot get your BB running again, you cannot take a backup from it now. Only by performing regular proactive backup processes can one be protected from this type of situation.

  • Is anyone else having problems with an unresponsive screen and apps crashing?... Is there an update to help?

Since I have updated to iOS 7.0.4 my screen keeps freezing and Safari and other apps keep crashing..is there anything I can do?

Have you tried restarting or resetting your iPad?
Restart: Press On/Off button until the Slide to Power Off slider appears, select Slide to Power Off and, after the iPad shuts down, then press the On/Off button until the Apple logo appears.
Reset: Press the Home and On/Off buttons at the same time and hold them until the Apple logo appears (about 10 seconds).
If all else fails restore you ipad as new.

  • My iPod 5th generation has an unresponsive screen, and it won't allow me to unlock it to retrieve photos and data. What do I do?

The touchscreen isn't responding to my touch, and there are photos and videos that are really important to me on it that I want to retrieve and put on my new iPod. Any suggestions on what I could do?

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.
Apple Retail Store - Genius Bar
It is very likely that the iPod will be erased
