Unsatisfied Adobe consumer

I am coming to realize I have been a naive consumer of Adobe products. Over a year ago I bit when they offered a $30.00 introductory price on Creative Cloud, even though my clients did not and still do not use CS6. When the price nearly doubled I complained because AICS6 contained bugs that made it unusable in my workflow. Adobe placated me by offing 3 free months. Now I realize I was committing to another annual contract. One of the bugs was fixed, not in CS6 but in CC. If I choose to use CC I will be committing to at least $49.99 a month for the rest of my career (probably much more). There is no advantage to buying CS6 perpetual license because the bugs will never be fixed in it.
I realize, in theory, CC gives me access to a myriad of Adobe programs, but in reality I use two, making CC hugely overpriced.
I can:
Cancel my annual subscription and pay 50% of the remaining months and be content with CS5.
Continue paying the monthly fee and realize Adobe is in the driver's seat and can increase the price again next year.
Cancel my annual subscription and pay the month-to-month fee of $75, if and when I need the new software.
Change platforms and learn a PC-based Illustrator competitor.
None of these make me happy and all of them make me angry with Adobe.
Think twice before you agree to rent software.

No Adobe doesn't have many friends right now. There seems to be a fundemental misunderstanding about how and why their applications are used. Lets see... I'm a pretty average long time user that does corporate 3D animation. So I have for many years used the Production Premium Suite and apart from a short spell when Adobe stopped the Mac version (Premiere 6.5+) have been very satisfied. During this short spell I did switch to FCP and Shake etc. See I choose the tools I use for the work I do, not as Adobe seems to believe choose my work to use their products. I do not need or want 14 or so Adobe products, when the work I do only requires 4. I certainly do not want to give up the value of a perpetual license nor in the longer term pay considerably more for the privilage. If this was an attractive deal Adobe would not have taken away the choice, but in doing exactly that Adobe have alienated a huge proportion of their customer base. Whether or not I continue to use Adobe products into the longer term really rests with my co workers and clients but already I have been asked numerous times whether I will accept Corel files and am currently budgeting for Nuke to replace After Effects. It is a terrible shame that such a great working partnership has after so many years come to this. Finally if anyone thinks it hostile here on Adobe's doorstep, just take a look on a few 3D & VFX forums.
Adobe killing off Creative Suite, everything is subscription based now. - nearly 59,000 views!
http://forums.luxology.com/topic.aspx?f=4&t=76886CNET: Adobe kills Creative Suite, goes subscription-only
I confess to trolling a little bit with this post *(I rarely do forums) but suffered a late sign off because of a stupid error 213.5 (licensing) after a CC update - fixed but this would never happen with a perpetual license. So yes the whole CC idea is not just a turd it is a liability too.

  • Why is the Adobe (1 year) annual subscription so deceptive?

    Afternoon all.
I started my Adobe Photoshop ($19.99 per month) and Adobe Dreamweaver ($19.99 per month) 1 year subscriptions August 2013. In theory, they would have stopped charging my card August 2014, but that was not
the case. Instead, Adobe decided to renew my 1 year subscription, making it a total 2 year obligation. I contacted customer support and he said I am paying 50% of the obligated amount for the 2nd year if I cancel. For a product I do not use anymore.
This is Bulls*&%! They forced me into this second year, I did not ask or request for renewal. I am currently on deployment right now, don't really have time for this crap. I want to talk to a representative ASAP.

Not sure how long an Adobe consumer you've been, but this is the face of the new Adobe. Completely disrespectful of its consumers on nearly every facet. At least you're someone who figured it out and piped up; imagine how many people out there are getting raked and don't realize it since it's Adobe's default behavior to just take your money each year.

  • Creative Cloud - Download error - stubborn error

This seems to be inconsistency quality assurance going on with Creative Cloud using Adobe Application Manager, I always get this stubborn - darn stubborn error message "Download error. Please contact customer support." In this case, I have no idea what the darn problem since it never gave me the reason as to what kind of error message that caused this stubborn download error.
I have no problem updating Creative Cloud apps on Mac Pro, but I am having this stubborn problem on my other computer - more specifically, MacBook Pro 17" unibody operating on Mac OS 10.8.2 (the latest version) Mountain Lion.
I have to say that I was very disappointed, because I had switched to Creative Cloud subscription from traditional Master Collection CS6.
This quality of service with Adobe Creative Cloud subscription proved worthless and unreliable and if this continue being this way, why should I continue to use Creative Cloud where it failed to download or not able to download at all? Why should I continue to pay subscription fees - even if I pay for annual contract.
I felt that I was ripped off by Adobe with faulty unreliable subscription service through Creative Cloud.
Please, please and please provide me a remedy solution. I have tons of project that I am working on.
    Deeply disappointed.
Long time Adobe consumer for years!!!
BEST of the BEST crap experience with Creative Cloud - that is based on my experience!

I have an iMac at home which is working fine with CC, but on my Macbook Pro 15 inch same error keeps on coming up. I can log into Adobe online, on the CC, but when checking whether I have the apps available online, I first have to log onto the Creative Cloud for teams section before it 'sees' me as a paying customer.
    Screen 1:
I then decide to open up the browser and go to Adobe.com and log into my account:
I have no products found and I have to click on the ad (which shouldn't show if I've already bought the software?)
And I get the options of downloading all the apps I need.
I have already downloaded the apps, but can't seem to log into the CC app in the toolbar at the top of my screen. I can log into Behance too, but it looks like I'm getting an old version of everything. The Typekit facility as well as the files section doesn't seem to work yet, even though it looks like everyone else is using it.
    Adobe, please sort this out!

  • PSE9/Win 7: Can I create an album of all jpg's with reduced size?

    PSE 9 on Win 7.
I want to take a bunch of my pictures to my iPad via iTunes.
iTunes will accept a PSE Album as a source. But not a Smart Album.
I also want to reduce the size of the jpg's in the album.
Sort of what I can do with Export.
Is there some way I can do this?
Ultimately I'd like to get all my new photos to flow through this downsizing, into the album and
    be delivered pretty automatically.
Thanks for any thoughts or ideas.

Perhaps the photos app is too basic. I can’t confirm as I have an Android tablet. If you buy a $5 app, iPhoto for iOS5 you also get lots off cool tools and can create journals which make instant web pages. You can share with friends and family simply by using the copy link button and mailing them the URL.
Adobe also has a great Photoshop Touch app which you can sync with tablets via the Adobe Creative Cloud. Unfortunately the new PSDX files with layers can only be worked on subsequently in CS5 and CS6 as there is presently no plug-in for Elements. But the tools make it a great stand alone app if you want to do editing on the iPad.
There’s also the Snapseed app from Nik Software and Adobes consumer app Photoshop Express - so it’s a fast changing environment (Apple will soon launch iOS6) with hardware limitations. Not to be rushed into.
There is a hack/workaround if you have the CCK. You can use a USB flash drive & the camera connection kit to get files directly on to your iPad if you want to avoid the hassle of using iTunes or the cloud.
You first plug the USB flash drive into your computer & create a new folder titled DCIM. Then put your video/photo files into the folder. The files must have a filename with exactly 8 characters long (no spaces) plus the file extension (i.e., IMG_1234.jpg; 12345678.jpg; MVI_1234.mov; my-movie.mov).
Now plug the flash drive into the iPad using the camera connection kit. Open the Photos app, the movie/photo files should appear & you can import.
You will probably see a message like unsupported USB device but you can ignore it and import your photos.
    Gotcha
The videos will show up in the photos section on the iPad but a great trick is to just play a movie from the connected flash drive rather than taking up space copying a large file to your iPad.

  • If Premiere Elements 8 does not properly exit or does not restart, try this

Pending a fix or advice from Adobe, I've written a tiny program to help with problems of Premiere Elements 8 not shutting down properly.
"PE8 Runner" is a small utility which...
    - Asks you whether you want to run Premiere Elements 8.0 with or without the welcome screen
    - Checks after you close the program whether it really has closed, or whether its process is still running
    - Asks you whether you want to terminate the unclosed process (so you don't have to use Windows Task Manager to do it).
    INSTALLATION
None.  You can run PE8 Runner.exe from anywhere on your PC.  But it assumes you have Premiere Elements installed
in the default location (C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Premiere Elements 8.0)
    USE
    Run PE8 Runner.
Answer yes or no to the question about using the welcome screen.
(If you choose not to use the welcome screen you will go straight to the program
and then you must open or create a project using the normal menu).
Use Premiere Elements 8 as normal.
After you close Premiere Elements 8, about 10 or 20 seconds afterwards
you may see a window pop up telling you that the Premiere Elements process
is still running (and using your PC's resources), and asking you if you want
    to terminate the process.
Unless you are in fact still using the program, answer "yes".
    LIABILITY
The author (me) has developed and tested the program on a virus-protected system
using Windows XP SP3.  Every precaution has been taken to ensure that
it is reliable, but it's up to you to choose whether to use it or not, and the author
accepts no responsibility for the outcome.
Please test it on an unimportant project before using it on something real.
I have not been able to test it on other versions of Windows and would be interested in any reports.
Download link http://www.fileden.com/files/2007/9/22/1451533/PE8%20Runner.zip - it's a small download.  Source code is included.

I really can not understand their logic.  It is showing in Task Manager because the process (Adobe's exe) is still running and using the CPU.  I know this because it causes a slowdown on my system as well.  They are either assuming that Task Manager is reporting a ghost so it is an OS system, or they are claiming that they are making a call to a Microsoft function in a redistributable .dll or a function in a compile time library written by Microsoft, and that function is not operating as specified by Microsoft.
I know that it isn't a ghost report; the process is running.  If it is a failure in a .dll or library, Adobe will still have to issue an update to us after reporting it to Microsoft and MS putting out a developer's update. We can not report it to Microsoft because we do not know what functions they are calling.
It really sounds like their application is not distributing the exit call to all of its processes.  Without a design map and the code, it is all conjecture and I really shouldn't be guessing at what I really don't know.
Based on how many folks all see this, I can't imagine how this slipped through testing.  Oh well, it did and most organizations have one slip through every now and then.  The real important thing is how Adobe responds to the discovery.  I personally would be happier with a "We have been notified of this issue and our developers are working to recreate it and then correct any problems we identify."  It sounds like tech support has been outsourced and is too far removed from the situation to really respond with anything more than deflection. I have run into this with Digital River and their overseas call center.  They could answer by the script, but they really could not get to the folks who could provide answers or solutions. This kind of support is what turned me away from a large scale installation of Adobe consumer applications.  I have found better stability and support with the professional line of products.
I am looking forward to fix for this and any other issues.  PE is fun to play with.

  • LR 1.1 with CS2?

In the readme file with LR 1.1 it says:
"Adobe applications must be updated with the Camera Raw 4.1 plug-in order to ensure compatibility with Lightroom 1.1 develop module settings. The following products will support the Camera Raw 4.1 plug-in: Photoshop S3, Photoshop Elements 4.01 for Mac, Photoshop Elements 5.0 and Premiere Elements 3.0 for Windows:
Do I unserstand correctly that LR1.1 will not work properly with CS2?
    Thanks.

I Agree. it is a strategic decision on the part of Adobe. They want
people to move on to CS3, and without the incentive of ACR 4.1, there
might be little reason to do so for many people.
Personally I consider CS3 a 'skip generation' of Photoshop... a worthy
upgrade if you are still on CS, but not if you are on CS2. But as a
photographer, CS3 adds very little in terms of functionality.
So yes, I think that requiring CS3 to use ACR 4.1 is strategic rather
    than technical.
"Feels slimy?" Not really. ACR 4.1 is an upgrade that by this time
should be revenue positive for Adobe.
    [email protected] wrote:
    > Edward, is it just my suspicious or is it that ACR 3.7 doesn't understand LR 1.1 adjustments instead. ACR is just a plug in that feeds bitmap data to CS2. So seems to me that the incompatibility is designed into ACR not CS2 and is therefore arbitrary rather than technical. Its a not so subtle push to encourage an upgrade to CS3.

  • Downloading PDF files in OS X Mavericks

After upgrading to OS X Mavericks, I find that Adobe cannot open downloaded PDF files.

Felicia clearly stated that she had no issue viewing PDF files from the Internet within Safari. Rather, Reader was newly borking on the files that were direct downloads into the filesystem, or came as email attachments. A very different issue from plug-ins.
Felicia, if you had opened an Internet PDF in a browser plug-in, you must use the save feature in the plug-in, not File > PDF Export, or File > Save As... These approaches will create a munged PDF that will cause Reader to pop that dialog you saw. You must use the Save feature provided by the browser plug-in. This is on a hover-bar that appears slightly above the bottom of your browser window with the PDF displayed.
This may also explain the corrupted PDF email attachments too.
Ok. So you have reinstalled Acrobat Reader per CF McBlob's pointer and everything is messed up.
Drag Acrobat Reader to the trash and empty the trash again. Sigh. Now get a fresh copy from the Adobe consumer site. Once you download it, exit Safari. Install Acrobat Reader. See if you can see Internet PDF again in Safari. Follow my advice above on how to correctly save viable PDF files. See if your issues are solved. And eject the Acrobat Reader installer from your Desktop.

  • PSE 11/Win 7: Can I create an image of the front of our house all in brick?

    PSE 11 on Win 7.
We have about two feet of brick at the bottom of our garage.
We are thinking of getting the whole front bricked with that same brick.
Is there a way I can create an image of our house showing that change?
I was looking at Fill Layer. There is some Pattern things available there.
But perhaps there is a better way to approach this.
    Thanks for any thoughts.

  • Consuming a Webservice & 'bapi_transaction_commit' in adobe form

    Hi All,
I am working on a scenario wherein i am consuming a webservice in an offline adobe form.
This webservice is a function module exposed as webservice.
Now if i attempt to use following statement in my Function Module:
    call function 'bapi_transaction_commit'.
This webservice stops returning me the response from Function Modules, Any clues on this front??
Any inputs would be of great help!!
    Thanks,
    Amita

    Hello Amita,
SAP recommends using BAPI_Transaction_Commit and not using Commit Work in the BAPI to  control transation in a "client" system.
but its up to you to decide how you want to do it.

    Hello,
First off, yes I know it isn't supported by Adobe (yet), however, I want to present to you my case for future users.
I have been investigating an issue I have ever since I got an Error 101 with Adobe Download Assistant where after extracting, I get an error from "Set-up.exe" that it failed to initalize. What is even more interesting is that CS5 trial can run smoothly.

Meanwhile, the log even said that "Reboot is pending", and I have rebooted several times and also tried to find the registry key "InProgress" myself. There was no sign of that key anywhere.
    Solutions I have tried:
    Rebooted
    Deleted Adobe OODE directory
    Used Adobe CS cleaner tool
Redownloaded trial from Assistant Manager and directly from trial2.adobe.com
Checked to see I had enough disk space. (My partition has 250 GB left).
I am an admin, and ran the program under administrator.

I haven't seen any success trying to run CS5 or CS6 under Windows 8 Consumer Preview yet.
For CS6, It turns out that the whole problem was a corrupted .7z file from Adobe Download Assistant. I even downloaded the CS6 Master Collection .7z and the Web .7z directly with Chrome & IE 10. I don't know how they became corrupted in the first place with these many options.I managed to get it working from downloading the extracted files from another source. After that, every program worked, including Dreamweaver with no compatibility mode.
For CS5, it is also the corruption of the .7z file. Again solved by getting a unextracted source to get it working on Windows 8 Consumer Preview. CS5 works perfectly on my system too.
try in compatibility mode... even dreamweaver never opened directly in my windows consumer preview machine. after running compatibilty assistant and saving compatibility for xp-sp3 it worked perfectly
    Simply, no.
Jeff, Adobe did well and I like the improvements the team made. I can tell you that the entire Adobe CS6 does work well with Windows 8 Consumer Preview (fully updated) smoothly.

  • Can Adobe Interactive PDF consume a service that returns JSON?

Can Adobe Interactive PDF consume a service that returns JSON? A few web sites seem to suggest it can:
    http://livedocs.adobe.com/coldfusion/8/htmldocs/help.html?content=functions_c-d_43.html
    http://blogs.adobe.com/acdc/2008/08/using_json_to_exchange_data_wi.html

Its probably better to post this in the Form or Designer forum as those ones deal more with the capabilities of XFA based PDFs.  The Generator forum deals with the server software that converts documents to PDF.
    Having said that.
You should be able to do it, but not directly. I don't believe that there is a way to map the JSON returned values to a field, as XFA pdf's generally support XML.  You may be able to put the returned JSON value into a single field and then write some code that would parse that value into the proper fields.

My Adobe Acrobat does not always print from Illustrator.  This is very time-consuming to have continuous problems that are obviously software based.  I have no issues with Illustrator, but we communicate on this campus via low res PDF files as proofs for approval.  Acrobat gives me no reasons why it does not want to print, it just says it can not print the file.  Fonts are NOT and issue here.  It will created a high res Illustrator PDF file but I can not print a low res PDF file.

This usually happens when you introduce a specific dependency like trying to resample certain placed image types and things like color profile conversions fail. Also stripping native AI data to reduce file size may cause this. Generally it is not recommended to print to PDF from apps that have native PDF saving functionality, anyway. You can just as well get the same result using AI's Save As feature.
