Unselected playlists showing up on my iPod

I have more music than I have space on my iPod, so I select certain playlists that I want to transfer. However, when I sync, playlists that I have not selected (checked) are showing up on my iPod, but they are empty. This is not affecting my space on the iPod, but it is a pain in the butt when I try to browse my playlists & half of them are ones I do not want & they are empty anyway.
How can I remedy this? I am running iTunes 7.7.0 on a Dell desktop with WinXP Pro & I have a 4th gen 60GB iPod.

The resolution I found out is that this is a known issue with iTunes where it will put empty playlists on your iPod for some reason.

Music Playlist shows video playlists - iPod BUG. IS IT JUST ME?

I have the 160GB ipod classic. I have several video playlists set up (to manage music videos, other movies, etc.). When I select "music" from the main menu, then select "playlists" to pull up my music playlists as set up on iTunes, I see all of my video playlists listed and they show "0 SONGS" under the playlist name, obviously because they are not supposed to have songs and only have videos. When I click on the video playlist from this menu, the ipod hangs on a white screen (forever!) until I press menu to return the music playlist menu... Is it just me or is this one of the many continued bugs that the iPod classic still has even after the 1.0.2 software update?

I did realize that I also have a "music videos" (smart) playlist that shows all music videos. Since these have songs in them, they are listed also...

This is the wrong forum to post on, this is a forum for folks that have Intel based iMacs. According to your profile it indicated you are using an iPod Nano and use Windows Vista. I'd recommend either reposting in the iPod or iTunes for MS Windows forums.

Why can't I get my playlists to show up on my IPOD? I have changed to Win 7

I can't seem to get my playlists to show up on my IPOD, only in ITUNES, why? I just changed computers to win 7.

You will have to export the movie out of iMovie via the File ➙ Share ➙ File menu option:
button at the bottom of the window and select 480p as the format. Launch iDVD, select a theme and drag the movie file into the menu window being careful to avoid any drop zones that may be present.
Follow this workflow to help assure the best qualty video DVD:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the File ➙ Save as Disk Image menu option. This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image, launch DVD Player and play it. If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding is good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality. Always use top quality media: Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.

I've downloaded a TV show for my ipod classic, it shows up on my PC ipod librargy but it does not show up on my Ipod play list

I've recently downloaded a 3 TV shows from the Itunes store onto my Ipod classic. It shows up on my PC Itunes playlist, andI can play it on my pc but will not show up on my Ipod play list. I've searched all of the directories and can't see it there.
I have plenty of space on the drive so that's not the issue.

I think the issue may be that these TV shows are in HD. Would that keep them from playing?
Yes. Sounds like you are trying to sync the HD version of the TV Episode. You should try to download the Standard Definition copy instead and sync that to your device as HD content is not compatible with the Nano. See here for more information:

To prevent HD versions from being downloaded in the future head to the iTunes Store, click the Purchased link, and then select TV Shows and remove the tick mark next to Download HD when available. You should be able to download the SD version now from under this same page.

Can i transfer songs from one playlist to another on my ipod on my iphone4?

I am wondering if I can transfer a song from one playlist to another on the ipod on my iphone4. If so how do i do it?

I have home sharing turned on but can't figure out how to save the songs to the new computer.
First, make sure you've got the home share set up on both computers, as per the following document. If material on the original PC was bought from the iTunes Store, I'd use the AppleID you used for the purchases to set up the Home Share on both PCs.

Have both computers running and have iTunes open on both computers.
Now, in the iTunes on the computer you want to transfer music to, select the library that you want to transfer music from, as per the following screenshot:
Once the other library loads, go down to the bottom of the screen and in "Show:" select "Items not in my library":
If you want to import all of the songs you can now see, head up to the iTunes menu bar and go "Edit > Select all". Then head down to the bottom of the screen again and click the "Import" button in the bottom-right-hand corner.
If there's a lot of stuff in your original PC's library, the transfer may take some time.

How can i add custom art to playlist cover on iPad/iPhone/iPod?

I make a lot of custom playlists, with songs from multiple albums and sometimes multiple artists in one playlist.
Most are created on my Macbook Pro OS 10.6.8 (iTunes 10.6.1) and manually copied over to the devices- i don't automatically synch because my music libary is too big and complex. IE, iTunes is set to Manually Manage Music for these devices.
On my i-devices (primarily iPad 2 and iPhone 4), the playlists show up without art work for the playlist, just a generic picture of a musical note, even tho on the source Macbook the songs have cover art. I find this actually dangerous for use in my car, because it forces me to read the playlist titles. Just glancing at pictures would be much safer, quicker, and easier. But i can't find a way to make all the playlists show cover art.
Playlists i create on the devices themselves DO show a tiled image of all the album covers for the art work.... which is fine. but i can't figure out a way to get playlists that are copied over from my Macbook to show art... and that's the main source of my playlists.
help?
i have too many devices -there's also an older iPod Touch i use in addition to the iPad and iPhone- and too many playlists to create each playlist on each device from scratch so that it shows artwork.
Anyone have suggestions?
(btw, if solution involves upgrading to Lion, i can't; i have software i have to use that doesn't work in Lion).

my music videos show up fine but all my video podcasts dont come up at all

Have you checked the video section on the iPod? Videos must be played from the video section otherwise all you get is sound.

HELP! Songs on iTunes dont show up on my iPod!

I have songs on my iTunes and on playlists that wont show up on my iPod. I am so confused because songs i get in a group, only 1 or 2 show up. Its quite confusing. Can any one help?

Im having a similar problem. I had had problems with my computer so i got a new one and downloaded the itunes store. But the thing is, even when i authorized the computer transferred my purchases and reset it by the menu and select keys, the new songs i downloaded to my ipod wont show up! I usually sync songs to my own Ipod....Ipod Nano. My husband gave me his Ipod Classic and I want to put some of my songs onto it. I plugged it into my computer and thought it would automatically sync. The message did show up on the Ipod....Do Not Disconnect....but there are no songs on the Ipod. If is the first time you are syncing your husband's iPod with your computer, it will remove his music currently on his iPod and replace it with the music you are trying to sync. If you don't want to remove the music currently on your husband's iPod, you can transfer your music to his iTunes library using Home Sharing. Expand the Home Sharing section in the following article for steps to setup Home Sharing and use it to transfer music:

How do i get my playlists to appear on my iPod? I've synched the iPod to the computer but I can't see anything for playlists.

I've created playlists with Genius and have saved them. I then synched my ipod touch but don't see anything on the ipos that shows playlists at all. What am I missing? Thanks all!

Some (not all) updates to playlist show up on mini

I created a new playlist and a new smart playlist in itunes, that doesn't show up on my ipod... I also deleted the on-the-go playlist, and that still shows up on the ipod, so theres obviously a problem w/ the updating. But I've also added new songs on an existing playlists, and they are showing up on the ipod, so not all updates are being affected. Any ideas? Should I reset?

Yeah, try to reset
Press and hold the MENU and CENTER buttons at the same time until you see the Apple logo on your screen, then release those buttons. Try to do this while your iPod is plugged into your computer. Do you have your iPod set to manually or automatically update itself? For example, mine updates automatically..as soon as I plug it in my iPod automatically updates all my new songs without me clicking on anything.

Why don't some podcasts show up on my ipod? They appear in my iTunes library.

I have a number of podcasts in my iTunes library, but only 2 of them actually show up on my iPod (one in the podcasts section, another in the music section). I've created a playlist of podcasts, but that doesn't show up on my iPod either.

Why aren't all selected music/playlists showing up on my iPhone 5S?

I just purchased my iPhone 5S (upgraded from the 4S) last night. Software has been updated to the newest iOS 7 version and latest version of iTunes. All of my music won't fit on my phone, so I only have certain playlists selected. The playlists show up, but some of the music isn't there...it is show in a lighter grey writing with a cloud next to it. I have tried rebooting my laptop, syncing again, etc. I am at a loss.
Any thoughts?

I understand that you are seeing a discrepancy between the number of songs iTunes shows are on your iPhone and the number of songs you actually see on your iPhone. In this situation, I would recommend using the attached article to make sure the music you want on your iPhone has been properly synced to your iPhone.

Video playlists show up in music playlists!

I originally had the problem where my music playlists were showing up in my video playlists section of the ipod along with my 2 video playlists (movies and tv shows). I have finally solved THAT issue by putting 'tv shows' or 'movies' in the comments section of all my videos, then went to my smart music playlists and put the following condition: "comment does not include 'tv shows' or 'movies'). Boom, this keeps my music playlists out of my video playlists and now my video playlists only have 'tv shows' and 'movies.'
HOWEVER, my 2 video playlists are showing up in my MUSIC playlists now, with nothing in the playlist, just the names of them (tv shows and movies). This is ANNOYING!
i have gone to itunes ipod preferences and excluded these 2 playlists from the music playlist sync, but there's STILL showing up on the ipod.
Can anyone help?
