Unspecified error 2001? HELP!

HELP!!!! has anyone encountered this little gem. While trying to restore to original settings after extracting software it says it cannot restore. Gives error message 2001! Tried reboot and always says that this Touch Ipod in recovery mode. But won't recover.

I had the same problem, but managed to get it to work after I restarted the Mac and also power-cycled the iPod a couple of times.

HELP!!!!!!! THIS IS DRIVING ME INSANE.
Okay, so recently I accidentally dropped my phone in the toilet (it was an accident, slipped out of my butt pocket as I was pulling my jeans down) and then did the rice trick and whatnot. After two days, I tried to turn it on again and it wouldn't work. Then, i plugged it into the recharger and MIRACLE OF MIRACLES the apple logo flashed! Then nothing more happened, it kept flashing on and off, and wouldn't respond to any buttons. So then I connected it to my macbook, and iTunes popped up saying that it'd detected an iPhone in recovery mode. however, to restore it I would have to download the newest iPhone software but I didn't have the ability to do that just yet so I unconnected it.
Now today i was finally able to download the software, but everytime I connected my iphone to mac itunes never picked it up. Eventually, following the advice of everyone on the internet, I 'put it into DFU mode' or something, (im not sure what I did, once I got a black screen that was still detected by itunes, and every other time i've got the itunes logo and a charger symbol).
Then i got really excited, followed all the onscreen prompts, until it finally said waiting for iPhone and then ERROR 2001 APPEARS! Further more, the iPhone isn't even called what I called it, but called iPhone, 'iPhone'. I've tried restarting everything, trying different ports, but nothings working, every time I just get to error 2001!
So i would really appreciate it if someone could help me! I don't care about losing files or anything, i just want it functional again.

Hi there, I had a very similar problem to yours. I ended up getting my iPhone 3GS quite wet. On top of that, some of my casing is broken (near the power button), so a lot of water got inside.
At first, there were a lot of changes to the screen, and eventually the phone simply died. It just wouldn't turn on. And then all of a sudden, the same day, it randomly switched on, and i could hear some 'sizzling' sound inside. Following this, it just kept rebooting.
At this point, I unscrewed the screws at the bottom and opened up the phone (but didn't disconnect anything). Instead of using the rice trick/silica gel etc, I just placed a fan facing pointing at the inside, and let it sizzle away, and hoped that the heat from the sizzling battery and the air from the fan would dry it soon.
It did dry - soon the sizzling stopped, and the phone just kept rebooting. The battery eventually died by the next day. So I put it on charge, and it eventually switched on, in recovery mode (USB picture and iTunes symbol).
The next thing I noticed was that the battery held almost no charge. As soon as I disconnected it, the phone would die, immediately. Same thing if you connect it to the computer. On top of that, my Mac did not recognise the iPhone at all.
Next, I cleaned out the dock with the sharp end of a safety pin and loads of fluff came out. And after re-connecting it a few times, iTunes recognised it. So I tried to restore it, but a few various errors came up, and eventually, error 2001 kept coming up. Which apparently means there is something wrong with the USB or dock. (My USB is fine, the phone dock is messed up).
So next I tried to force the phone out of recovery mode. Pressing the buttons does nothing. No program works, except RecBoot for Mac. But even on that, as soon as the phone restarted, it died immediately and went back to recovery mode.
So I took it off the computer and let the battery die again, and then charged for another 24 hours.
Now at this stage, the phone seems to hold a bit of charge for a while. And iTunes is randomly recognising the phone. And it lets me restore it. And it even lets me restore the iTunes backup!! But after it has everything restored, the phone reboots one more time and iTunes says not to disconnect it... And now it's back in recovery mode.
I'm going to keep on trying. I think it's partially down to luck and I would recommend you do the same. I'll post an update here if it works.

You will need to restore your device as New to remove a Restrictions passcode. Go through the normal process to restore your device, but when you see the options to restore as New or from a backup, be sure to choose New.
You can restore from a backup if you have one from BEFORE you set the restrictions passcode.

I have an article here that addresses this error code and can give you a few more troubleshooting suggestions for this issue:

Check USB connections
If there’s an issue with the USB port, cable, dock, or hub, or if the device becomes disconnected during restore, try troubleshooting the USB connection, then troubleshooting your security software.
Common errors: 13, 14, 1600-1629, 1643-1650, 2000-2009, 4000, 4005, 4013, 4014, 4016, “invalid response”, and being prompted to restore again after a restore completes.
To narrow down the issue, you can also change up your hardware:
Use another USB cable.
Plug your cable into a different USB port on your computer.
Try a different dock connector (or no dock).
Add (or remove) a USB hub between your device and computer.
Connect your computer directly to your Internet source, with no routers, hubs, or switches.
If you see your error after changing your USB connections, continue to the next section to troubleshoot your hardware.

Help! Error 2001 after trying to recover the iPhone

Hi everyone!
Please help me if you know the solution to the problem. I cannot turn on the iPhone at all until it is being plugged into my MacBook. Then, iTunes will enter into Recovery Mode but appears to have error 2001. Previously, there was error 1611 appearing as well, but that was only once and became error 2001.
My iTunes is the latest 10.1 (54). I appreciate any ideas!

Try that if that doesn't work, try DFU mode.

Hi, to get your iPhone 4 back to normal, here're two ways for you.
1. Use Dr.Fone for iOS. The free trial version can fix iPhone screen of death. The free trial version can do that, you don't have to pay.
Just download and install this software on your computer and connect your iPhone 4 to computer with a USB cable. When it detects your iPhone 4 is abnormal, click Restart the device to get your iPhone 4 to be normal.
2. Use iTunes to fix it.
Step 1. Make sure that the latest iTunes is installed on your computer.
Step 2. Plug into a USB cable to connect your iPhone4 to computer.
Step 3. Press and hold the Home button and the Sleep/Wake button at the same time for about 10s.
Step 4. 10 seconds later, release the sleep/wake button. But continue to hold the home button until a message comes out, saying "iTunes has discovered an iPhone 4 in recovery mode, you must restore this iPhone before it can be used with iTunes".
Step 5. Click your iPhone 4 in the left sidebar to show the device control panel on the right. Then, click Summary.
Step 6. Go to Backups section and click Restore Backup.... In the drop-down list, choose a backup file and restore to your iPhone 4

Unspecified Error while deleting a component

Hi
I have a component with a <form> tag; which refers to a servlet which is registered with a particular path.
When i try to delete the component I am getting "Unspecified Error" - error. Once i run the page am not able to select the component to delete also.
Any help will be appreciable

Hi Veena,
Look at your log file to get complete stack trace to find the cause.
As a workaround, In crxde go to the page under par identify your component. Then delete that node & save the changes. An example to delete productlist from geometrixx product page is [1].

Won't let me login, error message "unspecified error"

Every time I try to login with my sync account (that I'm already sure works because I've used it on multiple computers and Firefox profiles), then I get an error message that says "unspecified error." I know that all my information is correct, and I even tried to create another account on a different computer, which did the same thing. We (my wife and I) downloaded the new version of firefox, but found that it was being very jerky and slow and just didn't really like how it looked. My wife did a system restore on our computer to see if that helped, and since then firefox hasn't started at all - if we double click on the icon, it looks like it's doing something and then it just doesn't open. Whenever I try and download it again it comes up with 'unspecified error'. I've tried deleting all the firefox program files from my computer first, but there is one file in conponents that it won't let me because I need administrator permission. It doesn't seem to make any difference anyway.

Using "System Restore" can cause your Firefox installation to get corrupted because not all files are restored (only files in a white-list), so be cautious with using System Restore.<br />
You need to (re)install software that was affected.<br />
Remove the Firefox program folder (C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\) before reinstalling a freshly downloaded Firefox copy to do a clean install.

My office is saying its an unlicensed product and it prompts me to re install. It come up with Microsoft Activation Wizard then when I select to activate software via the internet an error comes up saying:

This error can indicate a permissions issue in the registry and/or other operating system issues.
Here is a
blog post which descripts some fixes to this specific error:
Check the Device Manager first to determine whether the issue was caused by an underlying operating system issue.
If it's not an issue with the operating system, try the rest steps descripted in the blog to troubleshoot the issue.

i left it over night hooked up to itunes but the **** thing wont stop blinking,
and very important to mentiom - i didnt jail brake it !!! and its like 4 months old

Yes. Plug it into your computer and restore it. Once it's in recovery mode, that's your only option.

I really need some help!
I am making a short video on premiere elements 10 and I seem to get this conforming error everytime I open the project and I cannot save it either!!
"Unspecified error occured while performing a conform action on the following file:
File0002.AVI 48000.CFA"
This happens everytime I open premiere elements 10 to lots (or all) of my video clips and I can't find any help in the adobe forums or anywhere else online!
Also, I want to save this video as an AVI file, but when I try to export it, it says it has finished quite quickly and has not even added anything to click on or when it does, it does not play. Sometimes it says it has finished then comes up with: "Error compiling movie. Unknown error". one of these happen everytime that I try to save it.
Lots (or all) of my avi files come up as this same conforming error when I load the project and I have no clue as to what to do!...
It also crashes nearly everytime after these compiling errors!
