::unspecified:: in DPS Analytics

Hi,
I always name the articles in my folios, but I still end up with ::unspecified:: in the DPS Analytics section. Not only that, but its usually the one that is most read too.
Any idea what can be the issue, and does anyone else have the same problem?
Thanks!
Eddie

Please go through this documentation which explains why though given an article name still report as --unspecified-- http://helpx.adobe.com/digital-publishing-suite/kb/article-names-appear-unspecified-analyt ics.html
Important note if applicable: "Data already submitted with no article title meta data continues to appear as ::unspecified:: ornone in the Analytics service"

  • What does ::unspecified:: mean in Analytics?

    Hi,
What does ::unspecified:: mean in Analytics in DPS? I checked the issue folio pages, and each page has a Title and Kicker associated in the metadata, but ::unspecified:: keeps showing up in the analytics reports.
    Thanks!
    ~ Karen

I am also running up against this in an Enterprise license.  Each article has a title and kicker. Here is a screenshot if that helps.
    Thanks,

  • DPS analytics - can you get separate view stats for online html views vs ipad views?

    Hi All,
New to DPS and reporting usage stats to a client and wanted to know if you can separate out views stats from readers who have viewed the publictaion on an iPad vs thos who have viewed it via HTML ( on a laptop/desptop etc).
    Thanks

No with the default baseline analytics, Yes if you have an Omniture Site Catalyst account which does the advanced reporting. More on Site Catalyst reporting http://download.macromedia.com/pub/developer/dps/analytics-report/dps-analytics-report-gui de.pdf

  • Using DPS analytics

Are visits/sessions from the Web Content Viewer recorded in the DPS analytics? If so is there a view that shows which visits are through the App vs. the Web Content Viewer?

Thanks for the response. Are the sessions/visits for the web still tracked? I was checking out the web version yesterday and the session did not show up in the session section under Folio on the analytics page.

  • DPS Analytics : Data to understand

    Hi,
What's the difference between "Visits" and "Content Views" in analyzing DPS dashboard. For the same page we have seen 1000 visits and 3000 content views. Please let us know. Thanks

    Hi Ediz,
We have a document describing all the data that's being measured by the viewers: http://download.macromedia.com/pub/developer/dps/analytics-report/dps-analytics-report-gui de.pdf
    From that doc:
Content Views: Counts the number of times that clients view each Ad and Article.
Visits: Displays the number of visits to the Digital Publishing application during the specified time period.
DPS uses the Adobe Analytics definition of a visit, best described here: http://helpx.adobe.com/analytics/kb/comparing-unique-visitors-to-visits.html
Visits: The number of sessions within a given time period. A visit is defined as a sequence of consecutive page views without a 30-minute break, or continuous activity for 12 hours. They most commonly consist of multiple image requests, however visitors that bounce can consist of a single page view.
    Hope this helps,
    Raul

  • DPS analytics access for client only

    Hello
My internal clients want to access the DPS analytics, but the thing is I am not confortable to give this password and access to several people and also, afraid some would access the Folio Producer and delete or unpublish/publish some content (change the name of my folio etc). Well you had understood me I don't want them to access to the Folio Producer
Is ther anyway to create an access to just the analytics or create a parallele account??

No. The account ID assigned an Application role can view Analytics and Folio Producer but not DPS App Builder.

  • DPS Analytics problems

I'm having troubles with my DPS analytics.
I have a digital magazine about games Invader Mag. It's made for iPhone and iPad
When I look into the anaytics there are more downloads completed than download started... This can't be right?
Can someone help me out with this?
    thx

You can see more completed downloads than started ones because of the analytics opt-in dialog. If the downloads started before the user opted-in, the start event will not be captured, but the completed event (if it happen after opt-in) will be.

  • Does DPS Analytics show the folio type?

With DPS Analytics is there anyway to tell which folio type has been downloaded, an iPhone or an iPad folio?
If not is there any other way to compare iPhone DPS usage versus iPAD DPS usage?

You can create Issue Name reports and find out how many Issues got downloaded on each device type (iPad 1, iPad 3, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5 etc.).

  • DPS Analytics, Download Started

Where is the difference between Download Started and Download Completed. Why is both shown in the Analytics-Tool?

  • DPS Analytics Query - Any Advice?

Can anyone offer insight into why the Folio download data within DPS Analytics differs so greatly to the App Download data within AppFigures? I understand the differences in data collection between the two and I get that the metrics are unlikely to ever match 100% but what I don't understand is why AppFigures tells me I have 1042 App downloads and DPS Analytics tells me I only have 347 folio downloads? Surely such a discrepancy has a valid explanation other than excluding download to desktop from iTunes and failure to successfully launch? Any advice or recommendation would be hugely appreciated.

I'm definitely not an expert in this area, but keep in mind:
    1) Users may start your app downloading then move on to other things and forget about it. I know I've done this with apps numerous times.
    2) They may see they have to download the free folio, start the download, navigate away from the app, and then forget about it. I believe this is what Johannes means when he says it's the "biggest problem" with multi-folio apps.
    3) We'll only report a folio download once the full folio has been downloaded. It's possible that your users are starting the folio download, viewing the folio as soon as enough has come down to open it (but not the full folio), then leaving the app. If they don't continue the download that partial download won't be reflected in your totals.

  • DPS Analytics for Mobile Browsers

    Hi guys,
It's very good that the new analytics is done in HTML5 and could be displayed on the tablet devices. The only problem here is that DPS Dashboard is still in flash. Could you please make the main Dashboard in HTML5, so we may use analytics on the mobile devices and the rest of the things in flash?
    Thanks,
    Gennady

    Hi Kobydo2,
I'm using GATracker and data is being reported, so I can confirm that it works. (Though I haven't tested to confirm that every trackEvent() gets through to GA, so I can't speak to its reliability.)
If I recall correctly, while trackEvent() works, trackPageView() didn't seem to do anything.
Perhaps if you tried commenting out the trackPageView() line the code would start working?
Other than that, your code seems correct.
I don't know if this makes any difference but I keep a single instance of GATracker in a property - i.e. only instantiate it once per session.
You can view my code here:

  • DPS Analytics Issue

The DPS system status for Analytics shows everything is running fine but when I log into my dashboard for my app I am seeing a bunch of folios that don't belong to me, what is going on?

    Hi Automator,
I just want to close the loop on this issue. After a discussion on a separate thread, the customer confirmed that the issue has gone away.
After the investigation, we found that the problem why you saw data that doesn't belong  to you yesterday, is that the segment was ignored by Site Catalyst for some reason. Now is back to normal.
Thank you again for helping us to investigate this problem,
    Ioan

  • This :Unspecified: thing in analytics is finally driving me crazy.

I'm not sure why its happening. I belive I filled everyhting out in folio producer. That needs to be filled out. Can there be any blank info zones at all? Some more important that others? That being said I feel I did it correct. Especially my most current issue.
I've been getting the :unspecified: in every issue I produced. So far I have been chalking it up to it being the front cover as that woud make the most sense (to me at least) to be what pulls in the most views in my numbers and everything is accounted for otherwise.
I've been letting it slide for a few issues now but I no longer want to do that.
Any advice? Things to look for? What's the deal? Why does it happen? How can I get rid of it?
    Thanks!
    Ron

    Hello,
Within Folio --> Total Time Spent / Unique Readers / Time Spent Per Reader / Avg Sessions Per Reader reports you will find "Unspecified" in the Folio name because it denotes Total Time Spent / Unique Readers / Time Spent Per Reader / Avg Sessions Per Reader outside of the folio (but in the publication app) and within the library or the Store.  Same reasoning for seeing "Unspecified" in the Articles --> Total Time Spent / Visits / Unique Visitors reports. We will be fixing this in our next realease by cleaning up the "unspecified".
When a subscription purchase happens, the subscriptions are purchased at the publication level and issues that fall in the subscription period are entitled to the reader. So when you see "unspecified" in Issue Purchase Reports - it denotes subscription purchases that don't happen at the issue level. At the time of download each issue could be entitled with subscription entitlement.
DPS started tracking devices since R24. Any viewers built on viewer version 23 or earlier, will not set Device / OS information; hence you will see "unspecified" in the Device / OS reports.
Let me know if you have any further questions ([email protected]).

  • DPS Analytics : HTTP request error

    Dear All,
I recieve an error message every timeI try to check the analytics for any of our apps: "Error retrieving report from Omniture server: HTTP request error".
A few weeks ago, an app totally empty statistics - everything zero - which I knew was not true. Today, I get the error, but there is some data on each page - but how do I know this data is correct?
Anyone that has experience with this? It has been like this the last couple of weeks, but has hoped it was a temporary error. Now, the clients want some statistics on their publications ...
    Thank you in advance,
    Axel Garcia Henriksson

I do have the same issue. I have to change the dates to get anything, but I don't know if it's reliable.

  • DPS Analytics

Do folios published as private show up in the Omniture analytics?

Folios published as private only appear in Adobe Content Viewer. No analytics get tracked in the Adobe Content Viewer, hence Omniture analytics does not track private folios.
