Unstable cursor

UNstable cursor

Try a reset. You will not lose any data. Hold down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10 seconds until the Apple logo appears on the screen. Let go of the buttons and let the iPad start up.
if and when that suggestions doesn't work, don't be afraid to use the space that you are provided here in the forum in orde to post some details as to what happens, when it happens, where it happens, any noticeable pattern or any other information that might be helpful in solving your problem.

  • Cursor / keyboard unstable

As I type in Word or in apple mail It seems that where you rest your hand on right hand side of track pad, this makes the cursor jump back and highlights text that it jumped over. I wondered if it is easy to get at that area to see what is being pressed on and how it can be rectified. This would rule out the keyboard as when I type and not allowing my hand to rest on laptop, the problem does not arise.

    Hello Eustace
I removed the battery, but the problem was still there.
The problem occurs when I am typing and my hand/wrist is in contact with the body of the laptop just to the right side of the track pad. This seems with my hand resting on right hand side of track pad, this slight downward pressure onto some component inside laptop makes the cursor jump back and highlights text.  I can simulate the problem by typing and not allowing my hand/wrist to touch body/frame of laptop, typing this way there is no problem. When I rub with my hand with slight downward pressure on the area just right of track pad, the problem occurs.  You should be able to type with hand/wrist resting on laptop body without creating this problem.  Is body of laptop too weak, which allows down ward pressure to make contact with some component underneath laptop body that creates problem?   I tried  without battery, but still had problem  All help appreciated

  • How to cure unstable mouse cursor ?

After installing Snow Leopard I've had problems with the mouse cursor flying wildly to the edge of the screen, which makes retouching photos very difficult. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Have you checked Systems Prefs > Mouse, to see if the settings are as they should be?   Especially, tracking, double click, scrolling etc which I have set around the middle of the slide bar, but you may prefer differently.

  • How can I correct Unstable, erratic mouse cursor movement

I currently have a dual boot setup with Windows 7 Pro 64 and XUbuntu 64 bit XFCE desktop. On random occasions, the mouse pointer will begin to float and or will not stay positioned on the spot selected.  This occurs with or without an external mouse attached.  The track pointer will not control the mouse and neither the left nor right keys just below the keyboard function.  The drifting will stop sometimes when the center key at the bottom of the keyboard is pressed. The touchpad and its keys seem to work correctly.  I have turned off both of these in the BIOS and have not had any problems.  It seems to me that the problem may be with the keyboard. Any body have any experience with this sort of problem?

    Hi
    Thanks for your post
To  help you further on this issue please share more details
    1. erratic mouse cursor movement  is happening  in win 7 or ubuntu
    2.  please share the touchpad driver version   &  bios version

  • Problem with Cursors in Photoshop CS4

I am only seeing partial cursors (i.e. semi-circles or truncated brush tips) for cursors when I enlarge the cursor size.  This is happening across all tools wherever I enlarge the brush tip.  I tried resetting the preferences and updating the video drivers with no luck.  I am running on Windows XP Professional on a Dell desktop using a Dell monitor that has an nVidia GEForce 8600 GTS video driver running version 6.14.11.5851.  I had updated the driver to the latest version but the PC became unstable, causing a system dump and "blue screen of death", so I rolled back to this version.  I also use a Wacom tablet with the setup.  It had been working fine and I am not aware of any changes to the system that would have caused this.  I have an open ticket with Adobe for about two weeks but so far the problem has not been resolved.  Does anyone have any suggestions?

Have you updated Photoshop to vession 11.0.1?
Have you tried turning off OpenGL in preferences?
I don't see your card on this list either:

  • Songs cut 25 sec before the end - Time cursor issues

    Hello !
As all for you, I've just downloaded itunes 7. No special problem until today, where I discovered two anoying (but not terrible) bugs:
    1) The time cursor when playing a song is unstable. If I want to listen to a song from 2'22 minutes, i bring the cursor with the mouse at 2'22 to play. But if I clip and drag the cursor, the cursor simply keeps going backwards in time until it reaches the song starting point. I've tried it with the different views... Have you noticed it too?
    2) A few of my songs are cut 25 or 30 before the end. If I bring the time cursor over the last 30 seconds of these songs, it directly goes to the next song (or even the song after the next one). This is quite annoying. I've to mention that all my song aren't gapless. I turned the fade option off. But it keeps cutting these 15-20 songs end. Does somebody have an idea about that issue??
    Thank you
    Regards, Jonathan

  • Compiz-Fusion unstable (Gnome-ATI)

    Hello.
I have an absolutely updated Archlinux but Compiz is very unstable. Some weeks ago it was working smoothly. Then came some Xorg, xf86-video-ati and Compiz updates all of a sudden and compiz started to crash very frequently, logging me out to GDM. Then came some more updates and thing has become better but still is crashing. Facts:
    1. Starting Gnome session with Compiz-fusion but without Fusion-icon works for a while. Then, suddenly, X crashes and I get back to GDM.
    2. If I start Gnome with Metacity everything works nice, but as soon as I run compiz-fusion with fusion-icon it logs me out.
    3. No error messages on Xorg.log.
    4. I tried to run Fusion-icon from terminal redirecting the output to a file to see if there is some error message but got no luck... no message at all.
    5. I don't know where to look at for the error, neither know how to know if it's a bug and, in that case, if that's related to gnome, compiz, xorg, xf86-video-ati or what...
Any information needed just ask, please. Thanks for everything once again, but it seems that I cannot get this working without problems for two weeks in a row, maybe Arch it's too much for my ignorance...

  • Is there a solution to the disappearing cursor problem yet?

Recently upgraded my 12 core to Mountain Lion from Snow Leopard to install Media Composer. The disappearing changing cursor is driving me batty. Also My ProTools installation has become very unstable. It sometimes stops processing for about 30 seconds until it decides to access the hard drive (Not sure if it's my media drive or the system drive, both are inside the case) Any thoughts? I still have my old Snow Leopard partition so I am considering installing MC on that instead to see if that works. I can't believe this problem is still rampant. Pardon my sarcasm but I think a basic mouse function might be something you would appreaciate in a new OS. Silly me.

With all the issues you describe, I would search for something conflicting with Mountain Lion.
Have you booted into Safe Mode and checked to see if it works correctly there? It will take a while to boot, and it will run a bit slow, so just look for the issues you described above. If they don't appear, you've got something installed that is causing the issues.

  • Pen tool, Rounded ractangle and Brush cursor.

    Hi, Good Day.
There are things that I want to say about using CS4.
    1.   Pen tool.
In Photoshop 5.0, I found that it is faster to <stroke path> compared to the newer version of PS. In PS 5.0, I never need to exit pen tool mode whenever I wanted to select the brush sizes. The Brush size Selection 'tray' tab is always available even when I’ve exit the brush mode. Thus make the stroke works become faster, simpler and easier.
And this is not happen in CS4. What I see is when every time I want to stroke the paths, to choose the brush size I must exit the pen tool mode ; and when I’m back the pen tool mode again, the brush option tray will gone. This slows me every time when I want to choose brush or when I want to re-correct or to re-stroke in order for looking the right brush size and style; it's really complicates me.
So, can Adobe do something about the Brush Selection tab so it always availed like other tabs, like PS5.0 do? Which like swatches tab, color tab, etc.. So it wouldn’t go off next time when we exit the brush mode; thus saves time.
    2.   Rounded rectangle.
Problem: I want to modify my rounded rectangle shape by adjusting the all the four rounded edges evenly without ruining the square shape. The problem is the shape is too free, the points are working individually and paths are “flabby”.
Can someone tell me know how to lock the shape?
It’s like what in Microsoft Word do. The rounded rectangle lines can be locked so I can adjust the edges to be rounder and rounder, whether partly or simultaneously.
    3.     Brush cursor.
I found that the brush cursor seem to be ‘unstable’; which is that the PS will change the Normal brush cursor to the Precise brush cursor when I’m using the Text tool, and I can’t change the cursor back to Normal cursor again after exiting the text tool and I'm also not on the text layer. And sometimes this problem happens even when I’m not using the Text tool; for example when I’m doing some copy and paste job.
The only solution is to close PS and restart my computer. What I should do?
    Thanks for your concern.

    Hi Bion_s,
In the course of playing around in Illustrator to find a solution, I found that if you open your appearance panel (Window > Appearance), select the fly-out menu and deselect New Art has Basic Appearance.
I found that with this option unselected, you can select your stroke width and profile and draw multiple times without it reverting to the default stroke!
Please let me know if this works for you. I'm not sure how this might affect your workflow on other projects, but it did result in the behavior you seemed to want.
    Cheers,
    Michael

  • HP printing software is messing up my mouse cursor???

ever since i installed my HP C309g-m, my mouse cursor has been screwy.  It is an open hand when browsing.  Someone in another forum suggested pressing control and shift, and now when it is over text, it becomes a crosshair.
I tried disabling all the HP add ons (by suggestion) and this didn't seem to make much of a difference.  Can anyone help?  It is making IE type extremely slowely and is making it very unstable (have to restart all the time).
    thanks!

Did you close IE after disabling, and then start IE again? It worked for me, but I still think HP should make a fix for this, since the basic idea of the program is pretty good.
It's not of much use if you have to keep it disabled, and then when you really need it, you have to:
    enable Web Printing
    close IE
    open IE
go to the same web page again
    use Web Printing

  • Cursor disappearing

I have a mid-2010 Macbook Pro, and recently upgraded to Lion.  The cursor has become very unstable and disappears from view in Safari, Numbers, iCalc, etc.  Does anyone know what is happening?  Is this a Lion glitch?

I notice something, when I am using my wireless keyboard to type something the pointer of my magic mouse disappears ,but the minute I start using back the magic mouse it reappears ,when  I  am watching full screen videos the pointer diappears but when I finish watching videos and I start back using the magic mouse it reappears ,to me I think it is perfectly normal it does this ,except for one thing ,somethimes the magic mouse pointer would not reappear ,if you check the battery and the bluetooth connection ,the magic mouse would still be connected, what worked for me was when I turn off the magic mouse and put it back on.Another method is if you use command and shift it would reappear. This is an apple issue and it has to do with a bug ,it's not your mac or your mouse or the bluetooth connection or mouse batteries ,apple needs to give a software update to fix this ,I hope they do soon because they are really sticking on this one.

  • PowerBook Airport Card looses network and causes unstable...

The Airport Card on my PowerBook 1.67 is having some sort of strange problem. The wireless network I am using suddenly cuts off and disappears and the signal indicator on the toolbar drops to zero bar.
But this is not the only problem, the desktop will become very unstable -- when I move the mouse, the cursor jumps around (sort of like something is running busy and causing the computer to lag).
When I turn off Airport the problem goes away (unstable stage).
Sometimes I have luck by going under preferences > network > airport to re-sign on to the network I was using, but sometimes it will not come back on (it won't pick up the signal), or the desktop cursor keeps jumping (unstable). And I have the restart the computer then it's back to normal.
Did Apple release any update on Airport Card? Thanks

    Interesting....
My wife's 15" 1.67 GHz PowerBook just started experiencing the same problem (except for the Desktop issue). She can be using her laptop and her preferred network will suddenly vanish. She is usually less than 30 feet from the router at the time and had strong signal strength prior to losing the network. Meanwhile, other iMacs and iBooks in the house can still see the network and have no loss in signal strength.
This problem started happening less than a week ago. Prior to then, this laptop received excellent wireless reception in our house. No changes have been made in our Linksys router in over a month. No Apple updates have been installed since March 2nd (Security Update 2006-001).
This issue seems to be different from past Airport reception problems discussed on this board regarding a design problem. Up until now, she has experienced fairly good reception with her PowerBook. I agree it is not as good as the reception on our iBook, but it has not been an issue for her.
When did you start noticing your version of this problem?

  • Why has my cursor become very laggy?

    Hi,
For some reason my cursor has become very laggy since getting Delayed Write error messages causing my system to screw-up. I finally reinstalled a new Windows on drive D, my old (not working) Windows is in drive C. Now when I scroll pages on the net or in applications it is very slow to respond and is unstable.
This also complies with moving windows. When I move a window it also becomes very jumpy. My system was fine until I got those error messages ages ago. Is there a way I can fix this?
    Thanks

My problems first started when 'Delayed Write Failed' messages just popped up out of the blue.
When this happened my system was completely unresponsive for 10 minutes, I could only move the cursor. I think after a while my system rebooted itself and a got the blue screen checking my disks for errors.
After waiting for that I logged back in to find that my cursor 'jumps' shortly after several seconds of moving it. What I mean is I can move it fine for like 2 seconds but then it pauses very shortly and quickly resumes, 'leaping' to what ever direction I was moving it in, so I lose where I was pointing it to.
A few login's later and the error message popped up again - totally uncalled for. I was only using a software to edit videos when it popped up again. Well, after this I ended up switching my laptop back on to find 'Windows\System32\Config\System is corrupt or removed press 'r' to begin repair on Recovery Console using your Windows CD'.
I get to the screen and press 'r'. I don't know what to type in to fix my installation of Windows (drive C) so I hit exit and chose 'new installation' instead. It asked me to save my new Windows onto drive C or D. Drive C has everything on it, my pics, music, docs and most importanly drivers and programs - mainly the Toshiba stuff I need. I'm afraid if I chose to install on drive C all the stuff mentioned above would be wiped clean. Thank goodness for drive D then, so D it was.
When Windows finally installed on Drive D, I discovered my cursor was the laggy one as before and now a new problem; scrolling pages; and moving windows. It's very slow to scroll and it's so unstable it takes me to the top or bottom of the page when I move the scroll bar in that direction. Moving windows is very jumpy and unstable too.
So there you go, that's my problem. Thanks for reading.
P.S If someone could tell me how to repair Windows on drive C, I would be most grateful.

  • [kde-unstable] KDE SC 4.11

    Hi all,
the first beta of the 4.11 series has been released.
As usual, you find the packages in the [kde-unstable] repo, which only contains beta/rc releases.
    Read install instruction from here.
    NOTE: It requires [testing] enabled.
There is a soname bump; this is the list of the packages that you need to rebuild:
    libkipi.so.10 -> libkipi.so.11
    - digikam
    - kipi-plugins
    - kphotoalbum
    Also, there are:
Two new strigi analyzers: kdenetwork-strigi-analyzers (at the moment for torrent only)
A new thumnailers: kdesdk-thumbnailers (at the moment for po files only)
    A new runner: kdeplasma-addons-runner-translator.
kdeplasma-addons-applets-kdeobservatory has been removed from the KDE SC.
Please report any packaging bug to our bug tracker.
KDE bugs go in the upstream bug tracker.
Have a nice update and testing!
See the list of known issues.

Before upgrading, I was using 4.10.4 with desktop effects enabled (OpenGL 2/Native). After upgrading, only the mouse cursor was displayed and the whole screen is black. There were ghost-like menu animations if I click on the supposed area of the kickoff launcher or hidden notifications. Had to manually killed startkde in a virtual console and select failsafe mode to successfully load the desktop.
Tested that all OpenGL modes are borked with black screen when QT mode is native. Had to change to XRender/Native.
My card is an AMD Radeon 5700M. Even switching to kwin_gles did not work.
