Unstable ip address

I've had a B110 printer for 3 yrs and have had regular problems with it going off line, but usually easy to bring back on line again but a few months ago I changed to BT Infinity wireless router and I'm hardly ever able to print anything at all now. I've had an IT company assist me several times and they tell me that the IP address is continually changing, despite them trying various methods to fix the address, although it has usually printed when they've tested it and gone off again shortly afterwards! It is also now impossible to print from my iPad, with message that 'No Airprinters found'. I am now thinking that the only way to print is to connect the printer to the router via cable, can anyone advise which cable I would need?

These settings are for setting up your wireless printer to stay connected to your router, keep wireless devices better connected and make your router secure and hack proof.
1. Set a static IP in the printer (click here) outside the DHCP range of the router (check your manual).
This is for Linksys routers but can be used for all routers.  Verify your DHCP range and change this
    first if needed.
2. Verify in the printer that 'Auto Off' is disabled.  Use the Embedded Web Server (EWS) by going to the
printers IP address in your browsers address bar, click  Settings Tab/Auto Off.  Or use the Printer
    Assistant, Printer Home Page (EWS).
In the router:  (Refer to your router manual for information)
3. Use a fixed wireless channel like 1,6 or 11, never 'auto', try channel 1 first then the rest.
4. Set router to 20Mhz only, or 145Mbps depending on router.
5. Always use WPA2-AES (Personal) encryption, but you can try ‘mixed’ mode.
6. Disable WPS and never use it and disable UPnP for the routers security.  Nobody can hack your
system now and helps with wireless connectivity (if you want to know why, search the web).
7. If you have a dual band router (2.4Ghz and 5.0Ghz bands), make sure the SSID’s are NOT the same,
they must be different for all bands, even for any Guest networks.
8. Save all settings.  Power off both, wait 2 mins.  Power on router wait 2 mins.
9. Power on printer and verify it reconnects to router.
Windows 7/8/8.1   Is Network Discovery on or off?
Control Panel/Network and Internet/Network and Sharing Center/Advanced sharing settings.
Under Home or Work (current profile) / Network Discovery.
Select "Turn on network discovery" and save changes.
If you want a cable you must get a USB PRINTER cable.

  • Unstable Mail, Address Book and Safari.

My Mac applications seem to have become unstable, my Mail does not download emails and will not shut down, the address book shuts down after I look at one address and Safari keeps closing for no reason. I have reinstalled the OS and updated and now I am at a loss. Has anyone else has this problem? Can anyone help?

One question--do you actually have a MacBook or a Mac Book Pro, since this is the MBP forum? If a MacBook, you might want to repost your question on the MacBook forum where all the MacBook experts are.
Since Disk Utility and reinstalling your OS did not solve the problem, I'm wondering if there might be a hardware problem of some sort. You might find your install disc and see if you can run the extended version of the Apple Hardware Test. If you got the Tech Tool Delux CD with 3 year Applecare, you could run that too.
If the hardware tests do not produce any error codes, then the next step might be to scrutinize how you reinstalled the OS. If you did a clone, you possibly could have reintroduced the same problem.
Also, how do you connect to the internet? Do you know for sure that your internet connection is good and not contributing to the problem? Is the Address Book unstable all the time or just when you are on line? Also, if you could explain the nature of the instability, this might provide a clue to someone as to what is going on.
If you actually have a MBP, please post back here. If a MacBook, I would recommend that forum for getting help.
    Good luck!

I need to change the email address because the one on my account cannot be received on my Samsung tablet. It is a very unstable email address.

  • New OSX not does not work with RED Rocket Card and old OSX Randomly Logs Out - UNSTABLE

It looks like my MBPR 16GB (MacBook Pro) randomly logs out and causes my programs to quit unsaved.  I can not update to the new OSX mountain Lion because the new Apple release is no longer compatible with the RED Rocket card needed for debaying RED Scarlet footage.  Mountain Lion causes the RED Rocket to not run correctly with Adobe Premiere.
At the same time, I am on Lion and my computer randomly logs me out and I lose all my work.  It seems as though the Retina is unstable.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Can someone tell me how I can return this.  It seems as though I may have to switch the entire company over to PC if this is not figured out soon.

You probably have not received responses for two reasons.
    1. There are not many here that know what this is "RED Rocket card needed for debaying RED Scarlet footage"
    2. Your post appears to contain some sort of threat to Apple about moving to PCs. You are not addressing Apple here. We are users just like you. We don't care if you change over to PCs.
MBPs and Lion are very stable. Maybe your unsupported third party Red card is causing issues. Their answer seems to be that Mountain Lion is not supported. I wonder why?
My suggestion if this is a business environment is to not mess with this. If you know for a fact that your Red card works with PCs, change over to PCs. I know that if some tool was not working for my business I would not hesitate to get something that worked.

  • Vertical line issue - How can we get Apple to address this?

    Hi guys,
As can be seen in this forum (and a lot of other forums, as well), a lot of people are experiencing this problem on their 17" iMac G5 with iSight. Here are some pertinent details (which may be familiar to a lot of people but can be a primer for those who are just starting to experience the problem):
    1. For most of us, these lines started appearing between 13-15 months after they purchased them. The lucky ones either had these failures occur during the first 12 months, or had APP.
    2. The majority of these units can be traced to the Shanghai factory W8 (enter your S/N in this website to get the manufacturing information of your unit: http://www.chipmunk.nl/klantenservice/applemodel.html).
    3. A similar issue occurred (or is occurring) with 17" PBs. From what I have read on the Apple PB forums, it seems that this has been a long standing issue and Apple has SUPPOSEDLY attempted to censor some of the posts discussing this. Note that these units can also be traced back to the same Shanghai factory.
    4. The "iMac G5 Repair Extension Program for Video and Power Issues" which certain people have always been referring users to on posts discussing this type of problem obviously refers to a totally different issue (http://www.apple.com/support/imac/repairextensionprogram/) and is applicable only to first gen iMac G5s. I'm sure that everyone appreciates it but, at this point, it is quite clear that it is not the solution to our problem.
    5. Based on the number of posts discussing this very same problem in the Apple forums, it is pretty obvious that these are not isolated issues. There are too many similarities (time of failure, how the numbers of line increase over time, manufacturing source, etc.)
    6. Some people have suggested that unstable power sources may be the primary cause of the problem. However, based on the locations of the people with these problems who have posted in this forum, it seems unlikely. From what I can see, the problem happens whether you are from a highly industrialized country (where a stable power source can be expected) or a developing country (where power sources MAY be more unstable).
    7. Apple has typically responded (to anyone who has taken the time to write or have their iMacs inspected) that this is not a known manufacturing defect issue. As such, the cost to repair this problem, which can go up to USD 500, will have to be borne by the owner.
    8. Based on posts of some people who have had their units repaired, it is the LCD that has to be replaced. This is also supported by posts from people who have resorted to purchase a separate display as a workaround.
Now, the question is, *how do we get Apple to address this issue*? Do we all start writing Steve Jobs about it? Do we go to the press? Should we put up a website and Digg it to death? A spoof video on YouTube? MySpace? Or will we just suffer in silence? Suggestions anyone?
P.S. Suggestions that involve any sort of violence or industrial sabotage are not acceptable, please.
Note that Ale_Tog has put up a Flickr page where we can post photos of our poor iMacs. Just send the photo to [email protected] with the subject "Dead pixels on iMac". No text, just the photo attachment. (+Ale_Tog, if you read this, I hope you don't mind me posting this here. Also, I suggest that we at least put the first 5 chars of the serial number, the factory information which can be retrieved on the link in #2 above, and which country the unit is based.+). I highly recommend that everyone send a photo to show that these are not isolated issues.
To get an idea on how many people are experiencing this problem, here are a list of posts in these forums, as well as others, discussing this issue (feel free to add to this):

Please start sending your suggestions. The more the many-ier!

Yep. I feel Apple's 1 year manufacturer warranty for the iMac is not adequate, especially for an all-in-one unit with a relatively high price.
My iMac G5 started displaying a vertical cyan line about 4 weeks ago, only about 19-20 months after I bought it for Christmas in 2005.
I called up Apple to enquire what could be done and was told by their customer service that a rather long period had elasped since the warranty expired in 2006. So I was told to take the iMac to an authorised repair centre and Apple will not contribute to the cost of the repair.
I expect respectable service life from my computer and anything less than 5 years is totally unacceptable. Thus I seriously question the value proposition for the iMac in this respect. Does it mean that I have to replace my iMac every 2 years? The computer still feel reasonably zippy, I still have plenty of space left on my hard drive, but the screen is failing ...
Today another line (green) appeared on the screen ...
It is my understanding that a number of LCD monitor manufacturers are now providing 3 year warranties for their products. Now why should Apple only provide a 1 year warranty? Especially when the replacement option will cost more than buying an entire new LCD monitor with even better specifications?
Based on the number of responeses I have seen here, this is not a rare occurance and I seriously question their quality control in their manufacturing process. I think Apple should be responsible for these repairs, and also provide a 3-year warranty for their LCD screens.
My iMac's serial number is W8548Zxxxxx.
Sincerely yours, an unhappy Apple customer.

I must say that Sun really needs to do something about dbx and fbe stability. The code is probably unchanged from the days of Forte and it shows. It has been unstable and prone to segfaults, strange symbol table malfunctioning/misreadings and other annoyances since I can remember using it. I've used dbx since the RWCString days of Forte 4.2 and every release in between at several different firms on several different hardware platforms and every version of Solaris since it was called SunOS and every single one of them experienced the same pattern of problems with dbx. Several simply switched to g++/gdb, reasoning that optimized binaries are worth very little when a slight change to a template can result in your binary becoming unreadable by dbx, often times unnoticed by you until it is far too late and you have a
The linker too seems to be very quirky and sometimes downright unreliable. I feel like if I have the audicity to write a C++ template longer than a few lines, either fbe, dbx, CC or several of them may crash at any point during the developmet process or, heaven forbid, when you need to debug a production core file.
My problems started yesterday when I decided to upgrade to Studio 12 after seeing that it was supposedly more compatible with boost, especially the latest 1.34 release. Those hopes were soon dashed as one out of every two random build variances combinations appear to cause either CC or the linker to seg fault. Apparently, this is a known issue which I was able to work around by lowering the optimization level from -x04 to -x01.
Now, it appears a couple of my binaries built by studio 12 are simply undebuggable by studio 12. The irony of course is the least stable tool in sun studio is the debugger.
I apologize for the complaining as I am quite frustrated at the moment. I love studio for its optimizing but simply having the piece of mind that the debugger will work when needed would be lov

  • '"Connection Failed" : The server "rrnas01" may not exist or it is unavailable at this time. Check the server name or IP address, check your network connection, and then try again' message

'"Connection Failed" : The server "rrnas01" may not exist or it is unavailable at this time. Check the server name or IP address, check your network connection, and then try again' message keeps displaying whenever I try to open any Adobe CS5 applications (except for Adobe Acrobat Pro). It displays until I click "OK" about 15-20 times or so and then will finally let my program open.
I have tried deleting files within my Library/Preferences folder and turning off/deleting login items within my system preferences as other forums suggested but nothing happened. Spending 3.5 hours on the phone with Adobe and completely uninstalling and then reinstalling the entire CS5 Master Collection didn't work either.
Also, it may be helpful to know that my programs worked fine for about three weeks then when we got internet and changed the password (the join, not the adminstrative password) with the wireless network "ScubaSteve" (which I've used with no problems at my old apartment) it started acting up. I have never seen "rrnas01" before so I don't know at all where it came from. I also installed the free 30 day trial of Suitcase Fusion 3 recently, but thinking that could also be the cause I have uninstalled it, and still no help.
Please help me! And please keep in mind I don't know all the computer lingo that a lot of the people in these forums seem to know. Thanks in advance for ny help you can give me.

It may not be possible .. there is a major bug between Mountain Lion and the TC where the TC disk goes off the radar of the computer.
Lion is also affected but not as badly.
7.6.4 seems worse than earlier firmware.. so back to 7.6.1 or 7.5.2 if that is possible.
Obviously that is not a solution for a later Gen5 TC.
Reset to factory after the firmware downgrade. .use all network names that are short, no spaces and pure alphanumeric.
If the TC is the main router set the dhcp to a very short lease time.. eg 30min.. and see how it goes, or try a longer lease like 99days.
I prefer the very short lease but response has been mixed.
Use ethernet not wireless.. ethernet is always more reliable and stable than wireless.
And last .. a nightly electric timer that powers off every night at midnight for 1min.. would not be the first device we have suggested a fix that amounts to beat the unit to the punch by forcing it to reboot since it is unstable.

  • Lightroom 5 sluggish and unstable (esp. book module)

I recently downloaded a trial of Lightroom 5 (then updated to 5.2) in order to evaluate its photo book creation capabilites. Apart from the program being sluggish in use (on an Intel Q6600 CPU running Win 7 Pro 32-bit with 4GB RAM and an SSD boot drive), the process went fairly well up until the time where I uploaded the book to Blurb.
The program kept crashing during the render of the 102-page book (also during Export to PDF render, despite lowering the PDF driver’s resolution settings as advised in the Readme file). There was no pattern to when it crashed; I removed tags, star ratings, set and reset background colour, etc. but to no avail as had been suggested on various forums (sometimes by Adobe support). Then one time (out of around 30), it completed the job. I monitored RAM usage, disc space and CPU temperature and all were absolutely fine. My machine runs cool and stable. When this kept happening, a quick Google revealed numerous people having the same problem, with Adobe conceding this.
I really like Lightroom and what it does; however, I'm struggling to justify spending  money on a product which is sluggish and unstable.
I sincerely hope that Adobe will address these issues soon, but I'm not convinced they know what's causing them. Lightroom 5.2 didn’t seem to fix any of them and I find it difficult to understand how such a buggy product made it out the door of Adobe’s offices.
I wonder how widespread this is. Has anyone else had similar experiences?

Yes! I have just find it hopeless, and contacting customer care on the matter is virtually impossible.

  • Can't mount external HDD? "usb 1-1: Device not accepting address"

I just bought a Medion HDDRIVE2GO (Full Speed) from Aldi, and at first when I plugged it in, everything went fine (well, I thought so). Appearently it had some errors with HAL not being able to read the HDD (error name="(unset)").
I gave it a reboot, and now it does not work at all! In dmesg, I have this output (the bottom is the most important I guess)

I found this post on linux forums which say It's a HAL related problem.
"rmmod ehci_hcd" made it work for some of these guys Which one of them explains It's a data speed issue. Cables.., 2.0 1.0, that sort of things. Read it, I bet you'll get more out of it, It's old though.
Try removing the module, plugging the drive, check dmesg, and mount manually.

  • Some email addresses won't send - sometimes.

I just upgraded to Lion. Here's my unusual issue: Some of the emails I try to send using Apple Mail get rejected by my ISP's outgoing mail server ( I am required to use the ISP's outgoing server to send mail using password authentication). I can't seem to find any rhyme or reason as to when and why this happens. It is an "on again, off again" issue and occurs at different times to different email addresses I am trying to send to. Sometimes an email address is allowed to be sent to by my ISP. Sometimes it is not. When the message is disallowed, I get ths following error message:
"Sending the message content to the server failed. Select a different outgoing mail server from the list below or click Try Later to leave the message in your Outbox until it can be sent."
I cannot send mail using any other outgoing server other than the one the ISP requires. About 95% of my messages make it through there.
Initially, I assumed the issue must be my ISP but I've tested the ISP's outgoing mail server using web mail and there is no issue there. I can also send web mail from my web hosting account. I am pretty sure Apple Mail is doing something to offend the outgoing mail server. Anyone have any ideas? This is very odd.

The symptoms you describe sound like an unstable Internet connection to me. Webmail and SMTP are two different things, so when web mail does work, that does not mean that you can connect to the mail servers through SMTP. Could be the Internet connection or a firewall. You should try to send the same mail, with the same outgoing mail server at different times, when that works once and does not work another time, it is very likely that this is a problem that only your ISP can fix, since no settings have changed...
    Hope that helps

  • Problem with wpa_supplicant unstable

Hello, I have some problems using wpa_supplicant. I didn't really noticed since when, because my router wasn't working for some time, but I suspect it was the upgrade to the kernel 2.6.32.
Anyway, my connection is too unstable, very slow most of times, but sometimes fast(between 0k/s to 1500k/s), and drop after a minute.
At the beginning, the connection is obtained slower than usual.
And after around a minute(sometimes more), I have in wpa_supplicant logs this message:
    RTM_NEWLINK: operstate=1 ifi_flags=0x11043 ([UP][RUNNING][LOWER_UP])
    RTM_NEWLINK, IFLA_IFNAME: Interface 'ath0' added

    selected WPA AP 00:18:39:32:c5:81 ssid='linksys'
Already associated with the selected AP.
In general, when I got this message after the connection(somtimes it's after the second time), the internet doesn't work anymore, even if the interface is still there, and iwconfig and iwlist scan shows the right information. There's no message in the logs, no error, no nothing. And I have to kill wpa_supplicant to reconnect.
I wonder if anyone have the same problem, or knows why I have this "wireless event".
    My configuration is a Linux64, atheros card(DLink DWA547), using WPA2 security

Not solved, but my workaround was to downgrade to kernel 2.6.31+madwifi0.9.4096. Apparently there was nothing special to the suspicious message from the logs, as it was already there and it still works.

  • Compiz-Fusion unstable (Gnome-ATI)

    Hello.
I have an absolutely updated Archlinux but Compiz is very unstable. Some weeks ago it was working smoothly. Then came some Xorg, xf86-video-ati and Compiz updates all of a sudden and compiz started to crash very frequently, logging me out to GDM. Then came some more updates and thing has become better but still is crashing. Facts:
    1. Starting Gnome session with Compiz-fusion but without Fusion-icon works for a while. Then, suddenly, X crashes and I get back to GDM.
    2. If I start Gnome with Metacity everything works nice, but as soon as I run compiz-fusion with fusion-icon it logs me out.
    3. No error messages on Xorg.log.
    4. I tried to run Fusion-icon from terminal redirecting the output to a file to see if there is some error message but got no luck... no message at all.
    5. I don't know where to look at for the error, neither know how to know if it's a bug and, in that case, if that's related to gnome, compiz, xorg, xf86-video-ati or what...
Any information needed just ask, please. Thanks for everything once again, but it seems that I cannot get this working without problems for two weeks in a row, maybe Arch it's too much for my ignorance...

Your wishes are orders... But there is no (EE), just some (WW)

  • I have a Linksys WRT54G wireless router that has a MAC address

A month ago, I could print from my PC and my Mac to my Epson printer over my Linksys WRT54G wireless network.  Now, for some reason, I cannot connect and print from either computer.  An Epson tech asked me to check the MAC address of the Mac and the printer to see if they were the same.  They were not.  He then opined that might be why I couldn't print.
I don't know what changed a month or so ago or why it changed.  I have not done anything to change the MAC address on either the MAC or the printer.
The Epson guy said the problem might be fixed by adding my printer's MAC address to my router's MAC address.  Something about "enabling MAC address filtering".  Then he told me that was an issue to pursue with my router manufacturer.  Naturally.
Speaking of that problem...someone else had it, too...another technician at another site wrote: "...by default, routers don't come with mac address filtering enabled...and if that's the case....then adding the printer's MAC will not solve any issue that you may be having..."
    So, three qustions:
    (1)  Can I add my Epson Workforce 545 printer's MAC address to my Linksys router?  Is that possible?
    (2)  If I can do it, how do I do it?  I saw no "add" or "edit" functions on the Linksys WRT54G Status Page.
    (3)  What causes MAC address mismatching to happen?   What is unstable in that assembly?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Mac addresses with different devices will differ. No two devices will have the same mac address. this is also called the hardware address. This is designed so that it will serve as a unique identifier of your devices in the network which you can check thru the router. Now it is possible that wireless mac filter might be blocking it from connecting to the network. But it would be best to check as well and make sure that the printer is connected to your network and has the same ip address segment as your router.
How to check if mac filter is enabled:
Setting up wireless MAC Filtering to permit users to connect to the wireless network on your Linksys...
Setting up wireless MAC Filtering to prevent users from connecting to the wireless network on your L...

  • Batch file to query an IP address and amend it

Iain Smart wrote:So a client can have an IP address from any of 4 subnets?Do you have routing between the various subnets? Otherwise how do the clients connect to other internal resources (server, printers etc) that may be on another subnet? It sounds like you need to have some form of failover at the router rather than switching IP address at the client. This way you can leave the internal IP range and the router handles the multiple connections. However, you can use this command to change the IP address (needs admin priviledges):
Batchfilenetsh interface ip set address name=”Local Area Connection” static

Hi Guys,Right, I need to create a batch file which will query the LAN IP address then display what connection it is connected to.So, at one of our sites we have multiple internet connections due to it being in the middle of nowhere and the internet connections are very unstable. We have 2 ADSL connections and 2 4G/3G/2G connections which are all on the same LAN but are seperated by different subnetsSo I need the script to check the IP address and display whether it is on Connection A, B, C or DI will then need the script to ask the user which connection they would like to be on and then it will change the IP to fit the criteria of the subnet they wantThe DNS addresses stay the sameOh and this script will be ran on many different PCs so it needs to check the Local Area Connection and amend it current IP. for example:192.168.3.1 -...

  • Pacman error:No address record

Recently when I executed: pacman Syu there were errors like:

    How to fix?
Last edited by Dheart (2007-05-27 19:24:00)

I`ve experienced the same problem during playing with Arch repositories, mirrors, local caches etc. However I lost posibility to connect with remote repositories, kdemod as well.
error: failed retrieving file 'kdemod-legacy.db.tar.gz' from kdemod.ath.cx : No address record
error: failed to synchronize kdemod-legacy: No address record
    Annoying thing
    Wget behave the same.
Then I found that this thing is related with broken IPv6.
    wget -4
    or with
    --disable-ipv6
    option retrieved its     functionality.
Does anybody know what internal fault could cause this $hit?
