Unstalling and reinstalling iTunes on to a Windows XP

After accidentally erasing a needed program for iTunes it asked me to uninstall and then install. I am just wondering if after uninstalling if all my music will be lost?

Uninstalling and reinstalling will normally not affect the tracks and settings already in your iTunes.
That said, it's wise to make a backup of any tracks, videos, movies, etc. that you've purchased from the iTunes Store or that would otherwise be difficult to replace, and of your playlists, before you uninstall, just in case something would happen to go wrong.

Yes you can without losing your music. Here is a link to a good website that helps people install and / or uninstall iTunes properly. It can keep you from going completely nuts if you are running into any problems trying to install, reinstall or uninstall iTunes! You can find step by step instructions there to help you if you can't remove or install iTunes for any reason or if it got corrupted somehow. It also has other reference links that have helped a lot of people from going completely nuts with iTunes problems: http://HowToUninstalliTunes.com

  • Trying to installe and reinstall Itunes on my PC Windows 7

    Hey
Have problems with Itunes, it keeps popping up with a message saying:
    "An unknow error occured (-42032)"
Just tried to go thru the whole charade with uninstalling all the Itunes programmes according to a search:
In your program list, locate the (6) components and remove them in this order: iTunes, Quicktime, Apple Software Update, Apple Mobile Device Support, Bonjour, and Apple Application Services (iTunes 9).
And then I re-installed from apple support....
even though the same error still occurs....
    WHAT TO DO ????
    PLEASE HELP ?

the feature you are trying to use is on a network that is unavailable. Click OK to try again or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the insallation package "iTunes.msi" in the box below
Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from the following page (use one of the links under the thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
To install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select anyiTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

  • HT1211 When uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes does not help in coverting movies

From the Advanced menu, choosing Create iPod or iPhone Version,"Converting..." did not appear.  Unstall and reinstall iTunes does not help. What else can i do to convert the movies so that i can download to my iphone?

See this on how to back up your music to removeable media, such as CD or DVD:

It's a very good idea to do this, but know that uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes will not affect the music stored on your computer.

  • TS1363 Updated to iTunes to latest version 11.1.4.62 on my Windows 8 machine.  iTunes no longer recognizes my 5th Gen Ipod.  It does however recognize my 80gb Ipod Video.  I've uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes as directed (twice) & rebooted pc. no luck.

I just updated iTunes to the 11.1.4.62 (as the pop up directed me to) on my Windows 8 machine. As a result iTunes will no longer recognize my 5th generation Ipod Nano (yes two).   I receive a pop up saying "Ipod has been detected but could not be identified properly"   I've followed the recommendations seveal times: a) disconnected and reconnected. b) rebooted computer c) unistalled and reinstalled iTunes d) tried different cables e) tried different USB porst f) rebooted Ipod.... the window keeps popping up like a middle finger (you get the point)
iTUnes WILL however,  recognize my 4th gen Nano and my 80gb Video (classic) without problem
Needless to say, I'm frustrated and ticked off over all of this wasted time.
    Anyone solved this issue yet?
    Any good suggestions?
    Please advise
    Kindest regards,

    c) unistalled and reinstalled iTunes
Doublechecking. Have you also tried a complete uninstall of both iTunes and all the other related software components and then a reinstall? If not, try the instructions from the following document:

Click here and follow the instructions. You may need to completely remove and reinstall iTunes and all related components, or run the process multiple times; this won't normally affect its library, but that should be backed up anyway.

With your phone plugged in, open Image Capture and see if the iPhone shows up.  If not, you are having a sync problem.  If it shows up in Image Capture, but not iTunes, I'd delete iTunes and reinstall it.

  • HT1222 I have Windows 7. The latest iTunes update messed it up.  I tried to uninstall and reinstall iTunes. Now, it won't reinstall (64-bit).  Error pops up:  missing MSVCR80.dll.  Any suggestions?  Thanks.

At the last iTunes update about a week or so ago, my iTunes quit working.   I do not remember the error at the time.  I unistalled iTunes and attempted to reinstall.   About 95% in the installation, there is an error.  I cannot get by it.  If I choose to "ignore" the issue, it says iTunes is installed.  However, when I try to open iTunes the error:   "The program cannot start because MSVCR80.dll is missing from your computer.  Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem."   I've tried this multiple times with no success.   Any suggestions?   Thank you.

  • Error in Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7

    Hello Everyone,
I am a regular user of I-tunes but recently i dont know why but I got some error in Launching I-tunes. So as recomonded by "Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7" section. I started removing the products. But after removing Quick time, I tried to remove Apple Software Update but while uninstalling it gave error that "There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor." and the uninstall rollbacks.
Please send me a feasible solution to this problem.
    Thank You.

Uninstalling the iCloud control panel should allow you to do that folder deletion.

I have a similar issue - my iPod nano connects and is visible in Device Manager yet invisible in My Computer and iTunes. I've tried everything I can possibly think of to try and solve this myself, all in vain.
Mine is a nano 4G. I've been using it for quite some time without the slightest problem. I have been using WINAMP instead of iTunes to manage my darling nano.
Then, one fine day I bought a new computer and the nano would not show up in My Computer, though the nano display shows "Do not disconnect". On my old computer it worked (and still works) absolutely fine with win XP as well as with win7 (the later I currently use on my new/problematic computer, which I bought last summer and that's how long I've had this problem).
Of course, after several first attempts I gave up and installed iTunes. I've tried using the Apple support article "iPod not recognized in 'My Computer' and in iTunes for Windows":
    - reset
    - fully charged,
    - cable works fine on two other computers
    - in normal or disk mode makes no difference
    - tried to find anything useful in the diagnostics mode
    - reinstalled iTunes several different times since then to the latest version
    - I've unplugged every other USB device except for my mouse and keyboard and tried several different USB ports on my motherboard (USB 3.0 and conventional), as well as trying different USB- related options in my BIOS.
    - I've never used any Mac with this ipod
    - I've tried fiddling with the win7 Services by stopping and restarting them and of course
    - uninstalling the iPod drivers in Device Manager. After such an uninstall the ipod would automatically be recognised and "ready for use", i.e. being invisible in My Computer.
    - Attempted to find any possible third-party conflict with msconfig or the possibility that my ipod is being confused for a network drive (for which I've disconnected my HDD, leaving only my SSD with the OS).
Sometimes, iTunes would note that iPod service (or something, can't remember exactly) failed to install properly and asked to try and repair it. I would click YES! and voila - no change! The ipod would rarely show up in iTunes on my problematic computer like this:
iTunes would warn me that the nano would need restoring so I would try and do it on my haunted machine upon which iTunes would freeze like you seen in the picture.
Despite this, I've updated and restored the nano on my father's computer to the latest version without any problems. This though, did not solve my problem in any way.
I can load music to my nano through my old computer (which for me is a real pain and hassle) and the gadget works normally in terms of its disconnected functionality.
I've taken my nano to the local service for repair and they said it was fine. Mercifully, they didn't charge for the diagnostics service (gee, thanks for not ripping me off!).
Here are two screengrabs from my Device Manager
and Devices and Printers screens on my comp:
That is my sad story as far as I can remember. It's most likely something with the drivers or something along those lines though I'm out of ideas at this point.
If you think you have any idea PLEASR HELP, I'M DESPERATE!
