I am basically trying to analyze the core file that has been generated during a directory server 6 crash.
I am continuously getting the following error when running the opencore command from the pkg_app script

What could be the reason for the above error being shown continuously. Am I missing anything ?
Thanks

I am getting this popup error when trying to open a .gif file:
"Could not complete your request because the file-format module cannot parse the file."
This comes up every time I try to open a .gif file. Even if I make a .gif file (like the image included in this post), save it and then try to open it again, I get the same error. I tried reinstalling CS4, but the error is still there. I have also done the reset on start-up and nothing. Some have suggested that I open it in (Windows XP Pro) MS Paint and then save it again. Did it and this does NOT work for me, either.
I know it's a Photoshop problem because I can see this file everywhere, except Photoshop. It will open here, there and everywhere, except for Photoshop.
I've searched the Adobe Commmunity and it looks like no one has come up with a fix for this. I'm just currious after 5 years with this problem, has there been a solution?
ScottOne of the files that has the error is in my first post.

Tried to "Open As" in PS a NEF file I modified in LR. Got the following error message: "Could not complete your request because the file format module cannot parse the file." I can "Open" the file in PS, but then the changes I made in LR (and saved in the associated meta data file with the "Control S" command) are not applied to the opened PS file. HELP!
If you are working with a file you modified in Lightroom, you should go to the Lightroom Photo menu and choose Edit in... and the version of Photoshop you want to open it in.
There a dialog will ask if you want to transfer the LR settings you made to your photo when you open in Photoshop.

HELP! Unexpected File Format Error
I was recently working on a project in Flash CS5.5 for school, last thing i did was save the project and close the program. Next time I try to open it I get an error saying "Unexpected File Format", and the application closes itself out. I can open Flash by itself and work on anything else, but when I try to open my class project it repeats the same thing "Unexpected File Format" and closes. The file was originally started IN Flash CS5.5, and has not moved to any other program since then. I dont understand what happened. I really need this project working again, can anyone help?
It's just happened again!!
This is really killing my deadline. Same file, this time I had just deleted to fonts from the library, then clicked save to get the alert to kill flash.
This time I got the additional info from the "Adobe Flash CS5.5 has stopped working" alert box:

Best File Format For Online Line Art?
I thought the conventional wisdom was that all line art for the screen should be saved as GIFs, all photographic line art should be saved as JPEGs.
Then PNGs came along and offered an alternative to GIFs.
I've been exploring this because I've been having a problem when exporting line art from Illustrator 8 as a PNG and opening it in Fireworks MX, where it appears washed out.
I did a bit of research among comic strip artists -- the art I'm exporting from Illustrator is a comic strip -- and came up with conflicting results.
Dilbert seems to save black and white line art as GIFs, e.g. http://dilbert.com/comics/dilbert/archive/images/dilbert2008611230313.gif
... But its Sunday colored strips seem to be saved as JPEGs, e.g. http://dilbert.com/comics/dilbert/archive/images/dilbert2008040261966.jpg
Meanwhile Donnesbury seems to save colored comic strips as GIFs, e.g. http://images.ucomics.com/comics/db/2008/db080406.gif
Any thoughts, suggestions?
Thanks.I assume your line art is drawn as vector art in Illustrator, correct?
As far as I'm concened, the "best file format for online line art" would be .swf, because it would retain its scaleable vector nature, and the Flash Player is most likely embedded in any reasonably recent computer's browser.
But a little simple experimentation would be in order regarding file size. SWF (as exported from Flash, not necessarily AI) is very efficient. But the complexity of the line art could still make a given image require more bandwidth as .swf than as a rasterized version.
The former conventional-wisdom regarding PNG is the old "not supported in older browsers" saw. I see even Firworks's online help still says:
> However, not all web browsers can view PNG graphics.
Personally, I think its way past time to stop cow-towing to outdated browsers and use PNGs anyway. So if it were me, and the nature of my line art required rasterization for online use, I would use PNG for its obvious advantages. But then, my livlihood is not affected by some minority of outdated web viewers not being able to view my PNGs.
I would think that whatever color problems you are having in getting your AI files exported to PNG can be worked out with a little investigation/experimentation. (PNG supports color management profiles, so that alone may be your problem, and may be easily fixed in your workflow.) GIF is by definition limited to a subset of colors. JPEG is by definition a lossy compression format. So there are certainly precise color-accuracy issues with those overused formats, too.
But again, that's just me. What little I do in web graphics that would involve this issue doesn't really affect my livelihood. Lowest-common-denominator compatibility may be more important to you.
> Gilbert seems to...
> Doonsbury seems to...
The two images are very close to the same size (132K & 125K). They both include contone grads. Between JPEG and GIF, I would expect JPEG to more consistently yield acceptable results. Since GIF is limited to an 8-bit lookup table, I would expect aberations such as unwanted banding to be more likely in GIF if the artwork contains many colors and alot of highly-rendered shading.
Since you specify
line art, though, that would rule out contone fills, and you could use GIF with a very small color table.
On the other hand, you do not specify whether you want to use transparency in your line art images. If you do, PNG would be far superior, because it supports true alpha transparency. In a GIF, if you can only make one particular color transparent. So even with line art, if the line art is antialiased at all, you'll have the ugly halos so commonly seen in GIFs when displayed on a wrong-colored background.
The only functional "advantage" that I see in GIF over PNG is its multi-image capability, for quick & dirty frame-by-frame animation. My personal animation efforts focus entirely on Flash/SWF, and use scripted animation whenever possible to avoid frame-by-frame. But I recognize the simplicity convenience of animated GIFs for web banners and those (often-annoying) moving icons and such.

Org.jdom.input.JDOMParseException: Error on line 0: File not found
Hi Everybody!
I´ve changed the version of Weblogic from 8.6 to 9.2 and I had several problems. One of them was that several web services made in Axis2 didn´t work because when I tried to access to wsdl the program resolve an error. I solved this problem including in weblogic.xml the following lines:
<container-descriptor>
<prefer-web-inf-classes>true</prefer-web-inf-classes>
</container-descriptor>
This solutins works fine with the services but now I have another problem. I have to open a xml file and to do that I use the following senetences:
SAXBuilder builder=new SAXBuilder(false);
org.jdom.Document doc=builder.build(myXML);
In the second line the program fails and show me the following:

If I change the value <prefer-web-inf-classes>true</prefer-web-inf-classes> from true to false the previous senences works fine but the web services don´t work.
Any idea?
Thanks in advance.
PopeYes, I entirely agree with James's comment : filtering class loader mechanism is THE way to play with classloaders.
The child-delegation model (with the option "prefer-web-inf-classes") comes from WebLogic 6.1 : it's the old-fashion way to do so. Moreover it can bring some linkage errors or unexepected behaviors.
In addition to the official documentation, I would suggest to read the article on my blog.
I tried to explain it in a easy way.

FAQ: How to resolve "Unexpected File Format" error with Flash Professional CS5.5?
You may encounter errors when you attempt opening or saving files using Flash Professional CS5.5. To address the above problem, Adobe released an updater for Flash Pro CS5.5 (version 11.5.1).
The following article explains about the errors and Flash CS5.5 updater released to handle them in detail:
http://blogs.adobe.com/flashpro/2012/07/24/unexpected-file-format-error-on-opening-flash-f iles-using-flash-cs5-5/Which operating system are you using? If you look in the Adobe Download Assistant is it still downloading the install files?

EhP4 Stack file format error in xml
Hi all,
My intention is to Upgrade an sap system 4.6C to Ecc6 including EhP4.
i am running through many problems since now
Here is my newest one:
In solution manager i calculated a stack.xml. After that, i copied the files to the test system which i am upgrading. Now in phase "Stack configuration" i must provide the xml-file.
when i click next, i get an error:
The selected configuration file ("M:InstCds
w70ehp1SMSDXML_P01_20090520113757.307.xml") is not useable.
Reason: "File format error"
Update ....
OK my fault.
in SAP Note Number: 1022704 is the info that in case of start release BELOW 4.6, you cannot use the xml-file, you have to choose the txt-file
Hm .. we have 4.6 which is not BELOW 4.6 but with the txt-file is works ... now i have the next error ...
i tried different files but every time the same error ...
Any idea ?
regards,
Bjoern
Edited by: Björn Trabes on May 20, 2009 4:23 PMSorry,
As i wrote
Hm .. we have 4.6 which is not BELOW 4.6 but with the txt-file is works ... now i have the next error ...
is work for the txt-files in this way, that the stack can be read.
It is a little bit confusing, as the german note says: as of 4.6 and lower
but the english note says: lower than 4.6
so there is a little diffrence
But now i have the Problem, that the generated Stack-file from the solution manager is invalid:
"# Error message set: 'Stack file is invalid: keep version w/o component upgrade'" -
File format error for xml file
Hi!
We are trying to upgrade our SAP 4.6C to EHP4.
While "configuration roadmapstep", system asks us the XML file we have
produced via solman. When we enter the path of the file system gives theerror below:
The selected configuration file
("E:\downloadupg\SMSDXML_FKQ_20100917142727.656.xml") is not useable.
Reason: "File format error"
We have tried the txt file instead of xml file. The result was same.
You can find the details of our system.
4.6D EX2 32 bit kernel
windows 2003 64 bit OS
sql 2005 64 bit database software
We have to upgrade our system until that monday.
Please help us as soon as possible.
Best regards
Noyan DurnaHello Noyan,
first, the official information: please refer to note #1022704 - for source release 4.6, the TXT file has to be used instead of the XML file. Otherwise, 'File format error' will occur as in your case.
But since you tried this option, you should turn your attention to the XML itself, which must contains entries that are not handled by function module OCS_GET_UPG_STACK_INFO in the 4.XX source systems. The function module only expects the entries [SPAM_CVERS], [PRDVERS] and [SWFEATURE]. Any other entries present on the file can cause an error.
Please check your file for other entries like [APP_SYSTEM], [SWFEATUREINC], [TECHUSAGES], [INITIAL_CVERS], [EXPORT_CVERS], and [DVD_SET]; this might be the cause of the error.
In order to workaround this, you can either edit the file and remove the invalid entries or recreate it (w/o this entries also).
Best regards,

Get "Unexpected File Format" Error in CS5.5
I was working with a FLA file when i press Ctrl+s to save the file it says "can not save and somethig.. bla bla.. " so, i have just closed the file whitout saving. Then i tried opening the FLA again and i get "Unexpected File Format" error. Are my FLA file contents now forever lost? No way to recover it? its around 6Mb of size. can you please help me to recover it??
There's a lot of info on the forum about this but grab WinRAR, duplicate the FLA and rename the duplicate to something.rar, open it with WinRAR and acknowledge the archive may be damaged, Tell WinRAR to fix the archive, when complete rename back to FLA and try it.

File-format module cannot parse the file
What does the error message: "Could not complete your request because the file-format module cannot parse the file." mean? I made the png image in PS. Now it can't parse it, but I don't know what that means or how to correct it.
KaCeDear Curious,
I volunteer my time too. I help others learn about Adobe software. I am not "trained" in this, but learn as I go. I have never had the warning I wrote about and that is why I posted. I thought as much, but posted anyway to be sure that I wasn't missing some clue. I deal with a large number of applications and all levels of members. It may be easy to be glib, but the hours I spend helping others is as valid as yours. I may not have points, but that is because I don't 'know' all I feel I should to answer. We each contribute as we can. I do wish I had more training, and I work on line with the Lynda.com series. Thank you for your help. I hope your curiosity is satisfied. :-)
KaCe
PS
If you have a lot of skills in PS and didn't mind the occasional question I'd like to write you again. -
Unable to open any of the HiRISE images within PS CS6. Receive the following error: "Could not complete your request because the file-format module cannot parse the file."
The files are NOT corrupt as I can open them in IrfanView and ACDSee, just not Photoshop CS6.
Image Site: HiRISE | Search for Beagle 2 (ESP_037145_1915)
Greyscale: http://hirise-pds.lpl.arizona.edu/download/PDS/EXTRAS/RDR/ESP/ORB_037100_037199/ESP_037145 _1915/ESP_037145_1915_RED.QLOO… (543MB)
System:
Core i7-4770K
12GB RAM
GTX970 4GB RAMI downloaded a small HiRise JP2 and used Preview to export as Tiff. It opens up just fine.
Apparently the JP2 takes up an awful lot of memory uncompressing, and Photoshop gives up.
HiRISE | Sedimentary Fans North of Mojave Crater (ESP_038851_1900)
(Deleted that second .jp2 file. It slowed my Windows 7 system to a crawl).
I also got the same error on the file in Message one, so saving it as a tiff would work.

Virus has changed all the office file format and cant open those file
Hello
Recently I attacked by some new virus which is changed my all the office document files and added a extra extension after the office file extension. If I manually change the infected file extension to orginal file format and try open it shows error message.
Although having System Center Endpoint Protection how could it would be the affected by the virus ?
Now please suggest me how to recover the those files to orginal file format or recover MS office file???
ThanksHi,
Anti-virus solutions are necessary to protect your system but it can never be a 100% secure.
Once Office files are damaged by the viruses, we can't guarantee the files can still be recovered.
Anyway, you can still try the "Open and Repair" feature in Word to repair the file.
Take Word 2013 for example, click FILE -> Open -> Browse to the file location -> Select the document -> Find the "Open" button, click the "Open and Repair" button from the drop list. Check if this can repair the document.

Date Format error while loading *.dat file to Sataging .
Hi All ,
Loading data from *.dat file in to Staging , the dat file contains data for date in 'MM-DD-YYYY' format which is String , when it loading by control file it produce the error date format is not supported .I think ti required DD-MM-YYYY format . Is their any properties to change the date format or else need to write the function for converting date format .
I am using OWb 10g Release 1 , with same DB .
Please guide me
Thanx in advance
Regards ,Hi,
Before loading into staging, you can use Expression operator to convert the CHAR into DATE with something like this:
TO_DATE('01-02-2005','MM-DD-YYYY')
Hope this helps.
