Unsupported audio rate in file during import

I have an XVID video I'm trying to import. Premiere stops and displays unsupported audio rate. I'm trying to use Virtualdub to get around this, but Premiere keeps reporting the same audio rate problem. I tried to copy the video with no audio (made a seperate wave file), but Premiere still reported unsupported audio rate.

I used virtualdub to uncompress both video and audio and that appears to be working.

  • PE7 " Unsupported Audio Rate in file " error

    Hi
    Here's hoping someone can help!
I have a little Fuji digital camera that also does short movies.  We need to edit them together for my daughter's homeowrk project.
However when I try and read in the .avi film using Media downloader,  Premiere elements 7 tells me that the Audio Rate is unsupported and therefore there is an error and they will not import.
By the way, they import into Windows Movie Maker just fine so there does not appear to be a problem with the files themselves.
This is driving me mad as I bought PE7 to do this and it won't work, didn't want to use WMM!
    Thanks

For file format conversion, I use DigitalMedia Converter to do batch file conversions. It handles both the Audio and Video and outputs to DV-AVI Type II files with PCM/WAV 48KHz 16-bit Audio. I'll load it up, point it to an output folder, get a cup of coffee and when I get back, all is done. It is shareware, not freeware, but has worked perfectly for years and many thousands of files, of all sorts of CODEC's. Note that it requires that any necessary CODEC's be installed on the system, as it does not ship with any of its own, which is a good thing in my book. Some converters will add their own CODEC's, and a few will overwrite properly installed CODEC's with versions that are not the ultimate. I like the fact that it works well with all players and other utilities, that I have, so I do not need to install alternatives, or remove anything else, that works on my system. I have used DMC so much, that I have a copy of it on every one of my computers.
Also, check your camera to see if you can set the bit-depth to 16-bit, and the rate to at least 22KHz, for the Audio. Many cameras allow you to adjust this, and that might get your files (for next time) into spec. If you cannot change this setting, then conversion will be your only choice.
    Good luck,

  • Unsupported audio rate in file

I am wondering how Premiere Pro 2.0 supported Divx/Xvid but CS4 does not? Or am I missing something?

DivX and Xvid have caused problems in all versions. Better convert those formats to DV AVI type2 if you want to edit.

  • Unsupported Audio Rate Error

I stopped using PR4 for a couple of months due to being away etc, and came back to use it only to find that none of my existing projects work and any new vid file I try to add I get an 'Add Media Error' stating "Unsupported audio rate in file"
I didn't change anything, but it stopped working. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling and same error. I use XP Pro SP3.
This is a new one on me. Any ideas?

    Alan,
I'd be interested in seeing what G-Spot shows for the CODEC on your AVI. The AVI extension indicates a "wrapper" only. It could contain material of all sorts with dozens, if not hundreds, of different CODECs. G-Spot is a tiny, freeware program (www.headbands.com/gspot), that will give a wealth of info on what is inside many AV format files. It works 100% with AVIs and about 95% with MPEGs. When one gets to WMV and MOV, it does fail to gather data with greater frequencey. G-Spot will also tell you the Audio CODEC used and all data on the sampling rate and bit-depth. (See below)
My *guess* is that you need a particular CODEC (maybe one of the DivX, or Xvid), that you once had on your system.
When something once worked, but no longer does, it usually indicates a change in the system. Many folk will upgrade their OS from say XP to Vista, and all of a sudden things do not play, that once did. It usually requires a download and install of some missing CODEC.
I don't know PE that well, but Pro, Soundbooth and Audition have no problem Importing 44.1KHz 16-bit and up-sampling to 48KHz 16-bit material - mono, or stereo. That *shold* not be a problem.
Try G-Spot and let us know what it says about your file(s), especially the CODECs used.

PS if you upgraded from XP-SP2 to SP3 in the down-time, something could have become fritzed there. XP updates seem pretty good at not breaking existing settings, but one never knows. SP2 to SP3 didn't change anything for me on three systems, but that doesn't mean that it would have gone perfectly, if I had four systems.
PPS I don't know the answer to this, but Barb, or Steve, probably do. Can Alan start a new Project in PE, using the 1024 x 768 x 15fps with a custom setting? He could then Export to whatever his desired format was, after editing. If he's using a DV preset, PE has to do several things: re-code the AVI to DV-AVI, change the dimensions, the FPS and the Audio sampling to 48KHz. That is a lot of work. In Pro, one CAN set the Project to the Assets - I just don't know in PE. (Thanks)

  • Unsupported format or damaged file? Importing Avid AAF files into PPro 4.1

I have been trying all day to import Avid aaf into Premiere Pro 4.1.0. I went to Avid and Adobe forums and sites and thought I had it figured out by following the video tutorial on Adobe TV - "Open Workflows Between Avid and Adobe CS4" His Avid was running on a Mac on the tutorial. I believe I followed it exactly but I get an "Unsupported Format or Damaged File" message.  I run ver.4.1.0 on a WINDOWS XP machine.
sSD 720x486 drop frame - no HD.  I am new to Adobe and Pro but I am loving After Effects and would love to transfer some of my old Avid footage over. Here is what I have been doing:
    In Avid
    I Select sequence on timeline
    File
    Export As
    Save In: Desktop
I Create an .aaf file name
Export Setting: Link Audio and Video
    Options - Export As: AAF
Export Method: Link to (Don't Export) Media - including all Video and Audio Tracks
    Save then Save
In Premiere I double click in project bin
Import - .aaf file from desktop - The project and files come up - The Audio plays fine but in program monitor a red box has  " Media Offline"
    Status:  Offline Importer Can't Open
On the new project file I right click - Link Media  - Find my Avid media on my EXTERNAL Avid media drive
Avid Media - Avid Media Files - MXF - 1- Find file by "Display Only Exact Name Matches" -
Click on the correct .MXF file  to link to then - Select  - and get the "Unsupported Format or Damaged File" message.
This is my first post and I usually can figure things out but I am stumped.  If anyone has had this come up or has any input for me I would be deeply appreciative. Thank you in advance.

For what its worth. I shot some DV 720x480 in 4:3 and 16:9 with my little DV camera and imported footage into my Avid MC. I repeated my earlier - posted steps and when I created and opened up the project in Ppro, this time not only did the sequence and files open up but my footage was on the timeline and I was able to play it without having to link to my Avid Media files!
When I tried before, all my footage was originated on BetaSP and DigiBeta at NTSC 720x486. Cannot Ppro bring in NTSC 720x486 or does it have to be NTSC DV 720x480
As I mentioned before I am a newbie to Ppro. When I created a new project and brought my 16:9 footage in, the source monitor is 16:9 but my sequence is in 4:3. In the Program Monitor I can click and hold the frame and move the 16:9 around within the 4:3 frame. Why is it not letting me see the full 16:9 frame.  I created the project in 16:9. Any suggestions? Thanks

  • Unable to open the export file during Import ABAP phase on tar(System copy)

    Hi Experts,
We are encountering the following error during Import ABAP phase on target system as we are performing system copy on target system as part of hardware migration(Data center migration).
    Scenario:
    Sourrce system -  BI- ABAP(7.01), Win 2003 x64 unicode,Oracle 10.2.0.4
    Target system - BI-ABAP(7.01), Win 2008 R2 unicode, Oracle 11.2.0.1
Actually on source system the data has been generated using migration monitor by using table splitting option and transferred on target system thru ftp option.
During Import process while selecting the Database installation type we have selected the installation method as "Standard systemcopy/Migration(load based)" and not checked the option "Start Migration montior Manually".
As far as my concern this error has nothing to do with this selection.please correct me If i am wrong.

  • No preview images from raw files during import any suggestions?

Lightroom will not display preview images during import of raw images. Any images in other formats display fine but with raw images I get a gray window the size of the preview image and the words "preview unavailable for this file". Adobe tech support has been no help they don't what is going on. Running Windows XP 64, Lightroom 3.3. Any suggestions?

I have the same problem when pluging the camera directly to PC. But if I use the card reader, everything is normal. Win7 64bit.

  • Unsupported audio rate file

    How can I fix this

    Welcome to the forum.
Along with the request for info above, and John T's suggestion for ripping the Audio with Audacity, for Import back into PrE, can you tell us about the Audio portion of your file? The great, free utility, G-SPOT, will give you the details, or it should. Post a screen-cap from G-Spot, and we can see the details. Here is a look at what you want to check:

  • Unsupported audio rate

I've done a lot of googling on the subject but still can't come up with a solution. I try to import a divx avi with no audio track into premiere pro cs3 but it complains that the ausion rate is unsupported, what do I dO?

Divx/XVid is just as valid an editing format as DV or Mpeg. Premiere is one of the only applications that can't handle DivX/XVid. Sony Vegas has no problem, and VirtualDub, which is open source freeware, works fine too, as well as almost any media player.
A work around with Premiere is to convert your files to a different codec. I like the free lagarith lossless codec. Don't convert to DV. DV is a crappy format and the double compression of first DivX/XVid then DV will destroy the quality of your footage.

  • Frustration - Iphoto corrupting image files during import (?)

To begin with, I'm a recent convert from Windows to the Mac. I'm running a mac mini at home, and a Macbook with Boot Camp at work (in addition to my desktop pc). All of my software is up to date...
I take alot of pictures with my digital camera (canon powershot). Saturday I took about 300 pictures, took the SD card out of the camera, put it into my Sandisk card reader, imported the pictures into iphoto and everything worked great. I chose to not delete the pictures after the import as I wanted to bring the card into work and upload the pictures on my pc.
The next day (Sunday) I took another 70 or so pictures. I was able to view all of the pictures on my camera that I had taken over the past two days.
I go to do an import , taking the exact same procedures that I took on Saturday (and that I always do). The first thing it does is identifies that there are duplicate pictures. I choose the option of "don't import duplicates" and apply this to all of the other duplicate pictures.
At the end of the import, I got an error message saying that some of the files were corrupt. Now, there were pictures from Saturday that were still on there (and readable/viewable). However, every picture that I took on Sunday was "unreadable" and did not show up in iphoto. I put the card back into the camera, and now I can't view the pictures (they show as "corrupted data".
I then pulled the SD card details up in Finder, and the "corrupt" files still show sizes of 2.4mb to 2.8mb, consistant with the good pictures. It shows the file's "Kind" as JPG Image... I double clicked on them and Preview comes up saying something to the extent that the file is corrupt,
I've taken the Sandisk card reader, plugged it into my Macbook (using iphoto in osx) and was able to view one or two of the pictures from Sunday.
Once I got to work this morning, I plugged the sd card into my Windows machine and it too says the files are corrupt. It shows them being on the card, it shows the file sizes, but I can't open the pictures in anything...
If this was a one time deal, I'd be thinking it may be something I've done to cause the problem. However, this is the third instance I've "lost" all of my photos because of them becoming corrupt during an import into iphoto. There definately appears to be a pattern.
I have somewhere around 8,000 pictures inside iphoto that I've taken and had no problems with. I mention this to illustrate that I'm not doing anything differently than I've done before. I have another 14,000 on my old Dell that I need to move over, but I'm questioning if I should do that now.
Does anyone have any ideas on what the problem might be? Is anyone else experiencing (present or past tense) this problem? Where I'm new to the mac, I understand that I might be doing something wrong. However, I've imported photos to the software (what seems like) hundreds of times, the same way each time. This makes me want to rule out user error...
One other question, I'm saving the "corrupt files" with the hope that there's a software program which will "fix" the files. Do you happen to know of such a piece of software? I'm hoping that I can get them fixed at some point.
Where I'm taking pictures of my kids, its extremely frustrating to find out that the pictures (memories) I was hoping to make prints of are now "gone". Its almost like rolling the dice when doing a photo import any more. Most all of the time it takes, but every now and then the pics are lost...
I'm hoping to identify the problem (either user error, procedure or software issue) and fix it as I really like the mac.
Any help/suggestions you might have for me would greatly be appreciated!

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
First: the corrupt files: download Graphic Coverter, a shareware which is often successful where other software isn't. But first, if the Mac will let you, copy the files off the card to the Mac.
I'm in this board a while now, and I can't recall an issue of iPhoto corrupting images on import. After all, it's just a simple file copy, at heart. I would be more inclined to suspect the card. DO you have more than one? Does the problem also occur with the other cards?
Try use Image Capture to download the pics to the Mac first, then import them, see does that help. Image Capture is in your Applications folder.

  • Lightroom won't allow me to add file during import - only copy

I'm trying to import items to my catalog.  When I choose items from my hard drive that are NOT in dropbox, Lightroom offers me the "add" and "move" options for the files.  When I choose files that are anywhere within dropbox, it only offers the "copy" import functions.  I don't want second copies of these files - I already have them imported into my computer.  It will let me import and copy TO the Dropbox files, but won't just add from them.
One detail (that shouldn't matter, but maybe) ... Windows believes that dropbox is indeed stored on the local hard drive but only through a junction trick within Windows.  The folder is actually on a very large SDXC card permanently resident on the computer.  Windows doesn't even know this as a result of the trick being used - so Lightroom shouldn't care.  Like I said ... Lightroom lets me import and copy TO those locations but when selecting files already there it makes me copy them.  I've been using Photoshop and CR forever and this has worked fine.  Trying to use lightroom for the improved elegance of the CR feature set and the ability to non-desctructively make and save raw level changes but can't tolerate duplication of thousands of raw images.
    Help!

    Thanks for the input.
Lightroom allows me to copy TO that location on an import but not import FROM it?  So I'm allowed to import and end up with stuff there, but not allowed to start with it there.  No sense at all in that design.  That's downright restrictive and really offers no particular benefit.  Hey, Lightroom designers ... change that!
This computer is a powerful ultrabook with a 512 SSD which is as big as reasonably and cost-effective available with the addition of a 256 SDXC card to handle the additional extra capacity I need.  Not too many other reasonable options out there.  This computer is constantly on the go and the addition of an external drive hanging off of it simply isn't manageable.
    Any other tricks out there?

  • Lightroom 5 not loading .xmp sidecar files during import

I have a folder of RAW images that also contain .xmp sidecar files that I am trying to import into Lightroom. The images import with no issues but it appears that Lightroom is ignoring the sidecar files since none of the metadata they contain are appearing in the catalog. I am seeing the same behavior when I take the same RAW/.xmp files and first run them through the DNG converter and then import the DNGs into Lightroom (again, no metadata). I have tried to update the catalog by both writing to file as well as reading from file but nothing I do will get the metadata read into the catalog. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks...

    Rob Cole wrote:
Whoops - I just realized you had also tried force-reading metadata after import.
If that doesn't work, then either the xmp sidecar files were not named properly, or something in them Lr not liking (presumably)
If you can make a copy available (of original photo file + xmp sidecar, e.g. zipped) I can have a look.
PS - Lr will only read DNG sidecar if newer than DNG (and hence embedded xmp).
    Rob
Thanks Rob. New to these forums so still trying to feel my way through it. I tried both using the context menu as well as the metadata menu option for a selected image with no success. I have tried this with an image I had previously converted to a .DNG and the metadata does not load into the catalog for those either. However, I can't determine that the .DNG version had the metadata loaded or not. I don't know enough about the file structure or have the tools to peer inside to verify. The .zip file is 12MB in size so I am unable to insert the RAW file but I can't figure out how to attach to .xmp file either. Will continue to research to see how I can do that...

  • Media Encoder CS6 No Audio on M2TS files (SOVLED)

Was reading a LOT of issues with Encoder CS6 not seeing audio on m2ts files upon import. I had this issue out of nowhere and was baffled as to why some m2ts files were importing with audio and some were not and was finally able to figure it out (for me anyway). I shoot on Sony AX2000's and NX5U's. When you import from camera, there are cmuprops files that accompany each video clip. I used to delete them because I didn't know what they were for. Well apparently Encoder CS6 needs them for audio. That was what was missing! The video files I imported into encoder that had audio DID still have the cmuprops files and the ones that didn't did not have the cmuprops files.
Hope this works for someone . Sure as hell kept me from pulled my hair out any more (was running out of hair!)

You should always copy the entire card to your hard drive, and never touch anything inside the folders.
