Unsupported Baud settings on a 2960

I seem to have managed to set a 2960 to 230400 baud in the boot loader. Is there anyway to reset the variables in the boot loader? Maybe a set of pins to short? I can't access the console port reguardless of what I set the rate too. I've tried both the USB console cable and a USB to serial. Is there anything I can do short of an RMA?

Andrew,
You may have to do a password recovery procedure on this switch. See link below. This should bypass your startup config so you can set to your normal 9600 and get into the switch. Hope this helps.

Are you running VMWare/VirtualPC out of a 32bit operating system? If yes, that explains the error message.
Please try to install a 64 bit operating the regular way, not virtualize it.

  • BOXI 3.0 - Strange behaviour in infoview regarding regional settings

Requirement: Currency to be shown in Brazil format (##.###,00)
We have a requirement where all financials in reports should be in a Brazil format (##.###,00).
As the report is built in Deski (.rpt) therefore u201CPreferred Viewing Localeu201D setting in infoview will not work (works only for .wdl- webi reports).
We followed below steps in Deski report to meet our requirement:
    Tools -> options -> Language -> Unsupported Language -> Portuguese(Brazil)->checked the option u201Dmigration forcedu201D.
It worked perfectly when run in deski. We published the report in infoview but didnu2019t see any change in format, it was still showing us in English(US).For testing purpose we published the copy of same report and could see the changes. But after refreshing few times the formatting got disappeared.
Please help how to get the desired behavior in infoview.
    Thanks in advance!
    Regards,
    Pallavi

    Hi Seb,
    Thanks seb.
But the problem is we have reports for country UK,AUS,US ..etc as well in our repository. If we change the regional settings the format will change for these reports too.We want this format only for Brazil reports ..so this solution won't work in our case.
Why is Unsupported Language settings not working in infoview (we have applied this settings in Brazil reports only)...or is there anything that i have missed in settings?

  • Gigabitethernet negotiation problem with cisco 2960

    Hi
    I have 2 cisco 2960 switches. one is a WS-C2960-48TT-L Version 12.2(25r)SEE1 and the other WS-C2960-48TC-L Version 12.2(25r)FX.
When i build a trunk between the gigabit ethernet ports, WS-C2960-48TC-L end shows me half duplex with autonegotiation whereas it is hard coded on the WS-C2960-48TT-L.
Iam not able to set the speed and duplex for the port on the 2nd switch.
Is this a bug with the 2960 or a compatibility feature between the 2 2960's
    Narayan

    Hello Narayan,
Has the speed and dubplex settings on the 2960 been configured? In that case auto-negotiation frames are not sent and the switchport cannot determine the speed/duplex from it's link partner. It will automatically choose 1000 half-duplex.

  • LMS 4.2 discovery failure

    Hi
I have Cisco LMS 4.2 installed i was using SNMP V2c for polling my devices. After i turned on SNMPv3 all devices are reachable and even when i make credentials check it's ok, but the issue when i access any device from search pane it shows me in the collector status " Discovery failure"
Steps i made to troubleshoot but not succeeded :
    1. Rediscover Devices
    2. Modify SNMP timeout & retry settings
    Devices: Catalyst 2960 , Catalyst 3560
I've attached a snapshot of collector error
    Please help
    Thanks

    1. Please refer to the context-sensitive help when you get to this step. It will give you a page with very detailed file formats and fields that are used (see screenshot below from my lab server). That page is also in Chapter 4 of the Inventory Management guide online.
    2. Device adjacencies are determined via a correlation of various MIB variables including CDP neighbor details and other details. I recommend you read through Joe Clarke's document on understanding LMS discovery.
One thing to note is that is is best to have the IP addresses of the devices in DNS. If that is difficult for whatever reason, the first create a local hosts file with the devices. You will get better results if the device IPs resolve to host names.

  • Leopard Inconsistent Display Drivers?

I just installed Leopard on my iBook G4 12" (mid 2005 model) and since then, the display driver randomly switches between the correct driver and a generic one (or so I'm guessing). The generic driver offers a bunch of unsupported display settings in system profiler, while the correct driver limits the choices to 2 display settings. Is there any way to correct this? I don't get a startup screen nor brightness control function while the generic driver is active (90% of the time). Tried clean installing tiger, still same issues. Tried pram/vram and pmu reset, not working at all. Here is a screenshot of the two driver profiles in system profiler (the correct driver on the left, generic on the right):
    http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c60/parallaxkid/Picture3.png?t=1199570731
I know other users are having brightness control issues as well (in tiger/leopard) so this might also help solve their issues.
Thanks to anyone who can offer ideas on how to fix this. I really don't want to revert to Panther.

The vendor's website has the same info from a year ago ... the actual manuf. of the board is unknown, no name on it ... uses Silicon Image chipset ... but there is no driver update for Leopard. The vendor is a small company that makes enclosures and SATA cables and has poor Mac support. I'm not going to waste my time.
I mistakenly posted this in the wrong sub-forum ... but don't know how to make it go away.
I ordered a new board from Sonnet.

  • Redirecting console to ELOM port  with N1 System Manager

I have a set of X2200s that I need to provision the Solaris 10 u4 ga X86. The management server that I have configured is also an X2200. N1 Management Server 1.3.3 was installed and configured. All network cabling were checked. I have 2 networks - a management network and a data/provisioning network. I am through to the point of discovering all the servers and loading the OS profile. To test the set up I am trying on one managed server using the command
    N1-ok> load server z21 osprofile s10-noagent networktype=static console=ttyb consolebaud=115200
Upon execution I see the dhcp server is contacted and on opening the serial console I see the flash message from grub about the new install. Upon hitting the <return> key, I get a series of dots at first and thereafter the console just dumps lots of ??????????? marks and nothing else. I am sure there must be some mismatch about the baud settings. I have done a successful PXE install using JET on the same server using the baud rate settings and tty as above. Somehow N1 seems to think differently. Am I missing something here?

    Hi
I would try it just with default settings(not specifying console* params), or figuring out proper settings according to appropriate ELOM guide (search docs.sun.com)
If I understand the jumpstart properly the console has no big impact on provisioning, only on what YOU see. Provisioning will still go through (if no problems), so console is good mainly for troubleshooting.
For majority of servers N1SM defaults to ttya and 9600, but ...
Checking ELOM guides is probably the best path here.

  • VI stuck in a continous loop

    Hi guys,
I am at my wits end on this and need your assistance.
I have a Chatillon force gauge that I can communicate sucessfully with. I've verified that my Baud Settings, Data Bits, Stop Bits, Partiy, and Flow Control are correct. I have also verified that I can communicate with Hyperterminal.
I am trying to change the type of mode the gauge is set to, but my Bytes at the Serial Port node always states zero, so my EXE is always in a continous loop. When I go into the VI and manaully change the settings, I can communicate sucessfully with it.
I've attached the VI and the manual.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.
    Attachments:
    MeasurementMode.vi ‏23 KB
Chatillon Force Gauge Manual.pdf ‏179 KB

To be clear, hyperterminal doesn't default to sending an EOL on writes.  It sends whatever you type into it.  So if you just hit P, that is what is sent, if you hit the enter key, then a carriage return will be sent.  Now there is a couple settings under "ASCII setup" that will do some conversion between carriage returns and CRLF's.
Now you may need to send a carriage return or a linefeed after sending the letter command, in which case it is easiest to put it right into the string constant.  But it isn't clear from the manual whether you need to do this.  From what I read around page 30, it looks like just sending the letter is enough.
I think a bigger problem with your VI is that you have no wait between sending the letter command and doing a check on the number of bytes at the port.  You probably haven't given it enough time to return anything so the bytes at port will be zero which means you don't read anything.  Later you send the F command then immediately clear the buffer.  (Why are you clearing the buffer there?)
Between not waiting for a response and a convoluted way of sending different commands through the shift register.  I think  your VI is stepping all over itself sending the wrong commands at the wrong time and never seeing any responses before it wipes the buffer clear.

  • BAUD and ECM settings - How to set?

    Sending FAXes usually fails.
I use a WiMax connection via Clear to talk to my Ooma VoIP phone solution. I use the PDF-FAX option in my +Microsoft 2004 Office suite for mac:+ to send FAXes through Ooma.
Because VoIP depends upon internet quality, the receiving FAX machine drops the line when there's the slightest pause in the connection (it thinks the connection has been dropped).
Work around suggestions include making these settings on the _originating FAX machine_:
    1) setting the BAUD to 9600
    2) turning off ECM (Error Correction Mode).
Since the _originating FAX "machine"_ is my iMac, where/how can I make these settings?

Well, your printer has wired network capability, but not wireless.   Therefore, no Wireless Setup Wizard.
Why do you want it still (USB) wired to the PC?  The router does not care how devices (computers or printers or whatever) are attached to it - wired or wireless - they can all talk to each other with no problems.
So, unplug the USB cord, plug in an Ethernet cable between your printer and router and then re-run the HP install software, this time choosing "Network Connection".
Say thanks by clicking "Kudos" "thumbs up" in the post that helped you.

  • Hallelujah, finally disabled OOPP. I use Firefox 9.0.1 and will not upgrade to anything that ignores my settings. Been looking for this info for years!

As soon as Firefox came out with OOPP, I immediately asked how to permanently disable it and had a Firefox developer straight-up lie to me and say it couldn't be done without downgrading. Thank GOODNESS for the instructions on https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/713600?page=1 Finally, finally I have excised the hated OOPP!
I run Firefox 9.0.1 and will not upgrade, ever, unless I see signs that Mozilla has radically altered its development direction and discarded most of the boneheaded, broken, anti-user development that has gone into versions more recent than Firefox 1.x. Actually making your mission statement more than an empty promise might be a good place to start.
Let's see...anything else? Oh yeah, any developer who advocates overriding or ignoring user settings, or taking control away from the user, should be kicked off the team. (and investigated as a possible Government mole, but that's a lot to ask for). I hear Konqueror and Safari are looking for new devs. It gets old fast when you try to get support and instead get haughty "You're doing it wrong, stop doing that" responses. I'm doing exactly what I intend to be doing and if you can't support that, someone else will. If you really gave a damn about your users, you might start by backporting security fixes to previous versions instead of spewing out a cacophony of incompatible new versions so rapidly you end up confusing and alienating users and making them switch updates off entirely. I mean seriously, what happens when Firefox hits triple digits? You could stick a decimal in front of it, and name that build after a historic baseball player who had that batting average. But even then you will run out of players in a few months.
It's truly sad. I switched to Firefox because it was the best browser. But Firefox has been backsliding horribly since around 2.0, and the other browsers seem to be in about the same boat. Firefox IS still the best browser - but only if you use an ancient, unsupported version. That's a big problem.

Using an obsolete version released [http://www.mozilla.org/firefox/9.0.1/releasenotes/ December 11th 2011] is the exact definition of downgrading. It exposes your system to all the security vulnerabilities that have been fixed since then.
    * https://www.mozilla.org/security/known-vulnerabilities/firefox.html
Out-of-process plug-ins was made mandatory on Windows Vista and later because Adobe don't test Flash Player's protected mode with OOPP disabled. This change didn't happen until Firefox 14, so there was no need to go as far back as Firefox 9.0.1.
If you absolutely have to, you can disable OOPP by creating the ''MOZ_DISABLE_OOP_PLUGINS'' environment variable and setting its value to '''1'''. Firefox must be restarted for the change to take effect. This works in the current version of Firefox, so there's no need to use obsolete insecure versions.<br>
If you don't know how to create an environment variable, see the following article for instructions (the "Using the Custom Environment Variable" section is not relevant).

  • Set monitor settings to res too low for flat panel - reset w/o boot?

    Hello
I wanted to play an old OS 9 game on my Powermac G4 (Sawtooth, 400 Mhz, OS 9.2.2 and 10.4.11), and for the sake of readability, wanted to set the monitor to the game's native 640x480. The monitor control panel (when booted under OS 9) allowed for this, but unfortunately, my Samsung Syncmaster 740 (1280x1024, connected via DVI) LCD display apparently refuses to display any video smaller than 1024x768. I later found this out testing with my old iMac DVSE connected via VGA. Thus, there's no video. I also do not have another monitor to run the G4 on, besides a 1080p HDTV - which is unsupported by the G4's card.
Without any video when booted up, is there any way to reset the video settings? Under target disk mode perhaps? A parameter ram reset (commandOption+PR at startup) didn't help. I can boot up into Tiger with a suitable resolution - just not OS 9.
Message was edited by: Daniel W: Just clarified that I was booted into OS 9 when I caused this bug...

    Hello
I tested both methods suggested. When I booted OS 9 with extensions off (which really should have occured to me earlier - boy, I haven't used OS 9 in a while), it did revert to a default 800x600 resolution - which displayed. Odd, I don't get it, it didn't display at that res before. Unfortunately, the monitors control panel would not open with extensions off. I rebooted, only to find that OS 9 reverted to the 640x480 resolution.
The solution is exactly what Don Archibald suggested - I removed this file from the system folder (while booted into OS X), and OS 9 rebooted to 1024x768 - which worked just fine.
Oddly, when I attempted to reboot into OS X, I ran into trouble. I hope somebody has a clue what happened.
It seems that when the G4 starts up, it does so in a very low resolution - at least, lower than the monitor supports. This means I cannot see anything until one of the OS' boots up. Unfortunately, after removing that pref file and ensuring OS 9 now boots properly, I rebooted to OS X. After about 5 minutes, OS X did not boot. So, I pressed the reset button, and held down "X". Still, OS X did not boot - after 10 mins. So, I repeated, holding down "option". This time, I did not even hear a boot chime. I don't get that at all. Nothing happened after another reboot, or in Target Disk mode, and it would not boot up to the point that it would recognize the USB keyboard - I could not boot to a CD.
While I do have backups for nearly all the data, I wanted to make sure I got the rest off the G4 drive. So, I actually pulled the hard drive out of the G4, put it in a USB enclosure, and connected it to my MacBook Pro. Somehow, the directory must have become very confused - it would not display any volumes! On a hunch, I decided to swap it with the drive in the iMac - I needed to swap the iMac's battery and install more RAM anyway. Before I did this, I used SuperDuper to clone the iMac's drive to an old Clickweel iPod. I switched the drive, thinking I'd need to startup the iMac from the Tiger install disc - but it recognized Tiger (from the G4) right away, and booted normally. I was able to boot the G4 into Panther (from the iMac drive), and then install Tiger once more. I figured that considering some bugs I was having in Tiger, I might as well just do a fresh install.
Fortunately, Migration Assistant was able to move everything over from the iMac to the G4, and I could format and restore the iMac's drive from the iPod. So, it took a while and some drive swapping, but everything's back to normal on both machines. Still, I can't see anything until the OS boots, as before, but both OS 9 and X work properly.
I don't get the huge bug, but it's all good now. I may need to reset PRAM again so that it will display properly during boot, but everything seems to work. Thanks for the help!

  • E1200 V2 upgraded to OS 10.8.2, Cisco Connect unsupported OS, also update firmware?

I purchased myu E1200 Jan 2012. Have been intermittent loss of connection & not sure whether it is old cable modem or router or? ISP came out & checked & changed some cable fittings said looked ok, but could be my old modem. (I'm getting ready to move out of area so don't want to buy a new modem now). But also a lot of my neighbors w Cox report intermittent loss of connection.
I will get messages saying I'm not connected to internet. Usually if i go up & turn off wireless & then turn it back on, it will search & find my router.  Frequently though I notice that when I check it has switched to my guest rather than primary for some reason.
I was having some of this before I even went to wifi a yr ago.
Just upgraded to Mountain Lion a couple weeks ago or so. Last night computer had a panic. I received advice to make sure all software as well as router firmware up to date. Found & updated MacBookPro Firmware update. Backed up.
Opened CiscoConnect & got message unsupported Operating System.
Reading about upgrading firmware, saw warnings about doing it hard wired or it could permanently damage router. Because of the intermittent connectivity problems & the warning, I think I would be safest to do this  manually by downloading it 1st & then updating the firmware from the download.
I see that instructions say to determine Firmware version. & it also says it will ask for router IP address. I'm guessing all that was in Cisco Connect. I know it has my passwords, but now I can't get to it. It also says I can use the web set up page to get the current firmware version. For updates (but it says for pc) it shows 8/2011 & 8/2012. Since mine was purchased in 1/2012 & unless it self updated, I'm guessing it is running the 8/2011 firmware. But just noticed in the User Guide it says that when I run Cisco Connect it checks for updates & installs them.  But that's kind of interesting w all the warnings about running it w a wired connection to make sure no interruptions.  Not sure how I have it set up, but I usually set software updates to prompt me so I can control when they actually run.
Once I have gotten that, will I be able to manually download the appropriate firmware version? Or if I click on that, will that start a set up or update process?
If I download Cisco Connect, will it update the already installed version, keeping all my existing info?  & then will that be compatible w Mountain Lion & then show me whether the firmware needs to be updated?
    Kathi

But anyway, I can't even open the old version!!! I just get a message about unsupported OS! So kind of hard to uninstall if I can't open it.
& for some reason when I was installing Mountain Lion, upgrading from Snow Leopard it found an old version of Parallels which I knew was not compatible.  Didn't even think about this.
Its sort of working but something is not working very well. I sure wish I hadn't listened to those who said to save the $ & not get the Apple Airport Express. Their stuff works & its not hard to set up like this!
    This is SO LAME!!!
& Where is lists the info, I have so far found NO INFO about updating. I usually have my software set to notify me so I control when it updates. & I think the last times I was in Cisco Connect it was under pressure just trying to get the router working again.
Right now I feel like throwing it at something.
Well, I have twice tried to download from the list for my model & when I click on the set up icon I get a message that "Setup" is damaged and can't be opened. You shold eject the disk image." But when I click for more info it says:

    What's going wrong ?
    Regards Klaus

    Hello,
I downloaded the gateway package of Oracle version 11.1.0.6.0, and installed Informix gateway driver. I made the necessary settings, and i have exactly the same problem, as described above.
I receive error message "OracleODBC Informix Wire Protocol driverUnsupported Informix Server version.OracleODBC Informix Wire Protocol driverInvalid attribute in connection string: ArraySize.OracleODBC Informix Wire Protocol driverInvalid attribute in connection string: TruncateOversizedColumnValues." when trying to set up a connection from Oracle to Informix 7.3. I read here, that there is a patch of Informix gateway: fix 6799360, which is unfortunately not available for for download for Windows XP. I cannot search MetaLink for this problem, because I just would like to test this Oracle feature, I did not buy Oracle license.
Does anybody know about this patch? Can anybody help how could I make working this Informix gateway?
    Thanks for help, Gyula
