Unsupported Format Error

I am getting this error when trying to import an .avi file
into Flash 8 Professional on a Windows 2000 machine:
quote:
The source file stock_1.avi contains video in an unsupported
format and cannot be encoded.
On another machine, the same video imports fine in Flash 8
Professional (though it's an XP Pro machine).
I had tried uninstalling Flash 8 and Flash Video Encoder, but
get the same results.
Thank you,
Joshua Cane

I opened Flash Pro 8, created a new Flash document, then
Imported a Video.
On the XP, I select the .avi file and go through the steps to
encode the video to a .flv file. No trouble.
However, on the Win 2000 machine, I get the above error after
selecting the video and clicking Next.
I also tried just opening Flash Video Encoder and adding the
file to the queue. When I start the queue, I get this error:
quote:
The instruction at "0x00000008" referenced memory at
"0x00000008". The memory could not be "read".

    Kbuggle,
Which video in the tutorial does this step apply to (i.e. importing the AAF file)? Are you importing from the sample files that accompany the tutorial? Finally, can you post a screen shot of the error message you're getting?
Also, please confirm which version of After Effects you're running, as well as the operating system.

  • .mp3 "unsupported format" error

    Hello,
I am trying to upload two .mp3 lectures using the Public Site Manager and am repeatedly getting an "unsupported format" error. I already have three .mp3s uploaded into this Collection and just need to add two more. All files by this faculty member were created using a Sony USB Digital Voice Recorder and this has never been an issue before. This faculty member has been patient as I have been trying to upload them for two days now. Is anyone else experiencing this issue? Is there a fix for it?
    Thanks,

Hi.  I am sorry you are having trouble streaming the radio.  I can certainly look into it for you.  Is this an application that you downloaded or are you going directly to that website to stream the radio?  Did you download any applications to your phone before the radio stopped working?
Another possibility could be the particular website you are streaming radio from may have changed the format.
    Waiting on your reply
    Thanks!

  • Strange "unsupported format" error with jpegs

I'm trying to help a friend who is running the most recent version of Aperture 3 (all updates installed). When we import a single jpeg from her hard drive, it comes into Aperture with the "unsupported format" icon and an exclamation mark where the preview should be. Double clicking the thumbnail opens the same error in the viewer, so it's not just an issue of the preview. The files themselves are fine and are named with the proper extension.
If we import 2 images at the same time, one comes in okay, and one does not. Importing 3 at a time yeilds 2 good, one bad. So, essentially, there is always just one image that is bad. It will successfully import the very same file that it rejected moments before as long as it is not the only file being imported. Make sense?
This is not a RAM or hard drive space issue. The only thing I think it may be is that she is running 10.6.7 (on a quad core Mac Pro). I'm wondering if the OS update to 10.6.8 resolves this particular issue. I will definitely update it as soon as I can, but I need to know if it could be something else. (I'm not with the machine now, and I need to bring the solution with me because she is not at a location where she can download the update herself.) Has anyone else seen this behavior before?
Thanks in advance for any helpful suggestions. This has me stumped!

Upgrade and then see.  10.6.8 is the current minimum requirement.

  • Aperture suddenly displaying "unsupported format" for Nikon D300s RAW files

I am using Aperture 3.1.3 on my iMac 24 with Snow Leopard 10.6.8.   A couple of days ago I applied an update for Aperture RAW files that was in my update list, even though I don't use any of the cameras involved.
After that update Aperture gives me an "unsupported format" error on all my Nikon D300s RAW files. Every RAW file in the library.  I have never had a problem with this at any time over the last 2+ years of using Aperture.
I have tried using time machine and rolling Aperture back to the end of July (my most recent backup) along with rolling back the RAW file plist. I then did a repair permissions, and reimported the photos after this.  I have rebooted numerous times.  All to no avail.  I have not yet tried a library rebuild that would be next if I must.
I use a Referenced library, so I was able to check out individual RAW files with Adobe Camera RAW.   They open fine so there is no file corruption issue.
Any thoughts on what might be happening?  Any other file(s) associated with RAW conversion that I might need to roll back?   I do not see any mention of a problem like this when searching the web or the forum (although I may have missed something by not searching the correct terms).
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

The raw camera bundle is  /System/Library/CoreServices/RawCamera.bundle
Go to /System/Library/CoreServices with the Finder, locate the the RawCamera.bundle package, select it and then do a File->Get Info on the package. You should have version 3.8.0, that is the latest and the one that you should have downloaded last week. If it is not 3.8.0 stop here and post back what version you do have, something isn't right.
Assuming you have 3.8.0  use the Finder to navigate to /System/Library/CoreServices and then delete the RawCamera.bundle package. The Finder will ask you to authorize the delete.
Then go to Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update 3.7 download and install it. That will put you back to the last CameraRaw update before this one.
See if that fixes your problem.
As always when messing around with system files it is possible to mess things up so make sure you have a good backup before proceeding, And if any of these instructions make you nervous you might want to hold off doing them.
    good luck

  • "unsupported format" message

Working in Aperture 2, I get intermittant blank screen and "unsupported format" error message when in edit view.  No problems in thumbnail view.  Only format used is CR2 (Canon RAW).  The only way to clear error is by exiting Aperture and re-starting.  Anyone else seen this / have a fix?

A Loud Cheer Is Heard From The Crowd!!!
OK, sucess with Vista Ultimate. Monday, I can check it out with XP, but I am predicting that will be a success as well.
Being brand new to the world of video and Premier, everything I do is an act of faith at this point. What I was reacting to with my previous comment was the fear that working with the files was not going to be a staright forward Import, Modify, Export Final Product path. I was afraid I'd have to make a detour to import into some intermediate format, then bring it into Premiere.
Glad that's not the case at all!
I will do my best to report sometime on Monday if XP is as straightforward as Vista. If Idon't have a problem, I will be real curious what caused the problem qim010 is reporting.
Regarding AVCHD . . .  are there different "flavors"? From my still photography background, I found that RAW is not the same across the board: Nikon RAW is not quite the same as Olympus RAW and, at least when I got my first Olympus that did raw, there was differences withing the Olympus line. I had to wait a while for the an update to Photoshop even though an older version of Olympus RAW could be read. Maybe that is why qim010 is reporting a difficulty with Sony AVCHD.

  • Cannot open corrupted .mov file - error 2048 unsupported format

    Hi all,
I have an important corrupted video file and I have tried every way I can think of to open it, but to no avail...
When I open it with Quicktime, an "error 2048 unsupported format" shows up, even though other videos I took are fine.
I can't open this video with ANY softwares including VLC and friends (trust me, I tried LOADS of them)..
After doing MUCH research I understand that either the header/closing part of the file is messed up.
Is anyone able to teach me how to fix those parts?
I'm really at the end of my wits and I'm a just beginner to hex-editing @.@ Better still, if you are able to take a look at this video for me...
I'll be very glad if anyone can help me out with this as I really wish to recover the video, this is for an important friend, thanks in advance!
P.s. the video is about 120mb in size

    Hi
Im using the tool called SUPER.
Its free and you can convert any file format to any other file format
Maybe it would be possible to convert his faulty file to another format and ten you could try to open it again using VLC player or other application.

  • Unsupported Format Video Error

    Hello everyone.
While playing around with my phone, i found my video recorder and decided to test it. For about 20 seconds, i recorded me waliking around the house.
The problem arose when i went to play it. I clicked the play button and got the message: "The media being played is of an unsupported format." In addition a small red box in the upper right hand corner says "Error Playing"
If anyone could help resolving this, it would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks in advance

It might be kind of late, but i ran into this problem tody as well. To fix it, i went to the memory card screen, clicked the menu button and clicked 'safely remove media card'. I took it out, waited a few seconds, put it back in, and all my videos were working again.
    Hope this helps.

  • What's with the occasional "Unsupported image format" errors?

I get this error randomly -- suddenly Aperture can't show me anything but a brief flash of the image, and then I get the maroon screen "Unsupported image format" error. Restarting Aperture returns things to normal. I've seen this in both version 1.5.6 and 2.
I can count on this occurring about every hour or so. This is quite frustrating. I use CR2 files almost exclusively, written from a Canon 5D.
Any ideas or workarounds for this behavior?

I was getting this all the time with 1.5, I have not seen it yet with 2. I think it's a memory thing, it happens more quickly if I am running Safari and other stuff. Sometimes quitting Aperture then starting again does the trick, more often shutting the machine down and rebooting clears it. I also have some very large tiff's in the library, Aperture can't (I've not tried it in 2 yet) cope with them, always the unsupported error message. These files are between 300mb to 1gig, sometimes it justs hangs on to the 300mb but mostly not. By the end of the day it was a real problem, I could only export images 2-3 at a time, if I tried to email 10 low res I would get either an out of memory warning or unsupported etc.
Something holds onto the memory somewhere either in Ap or Safari or all things running.
    Kevin.

  • Unsupported image format error

    Hey folks,
I've read several older threads on this topic and have not seen any new information. I am hoping there is a fix and someone out there knows it.
When I fired up aperture today I discovered that all of my images display with the dreaded unsupported image format error.
Thinking that my 215gb library had gotten too large, I tried to create a new library. Same result. When I import new images from my Canon 40D they show as a tiny preview and then quickly turn to the red message. It appears the raw files are not even imported into the library.... which made me think permissions. I repaired permissions and went so far as to set my ~/Photos/ to 777 ... still no dice.
I tried rebuilding my library - did not help
I have tried restoring from TimeMachine backup - no help
I deleted the plist and ~/Library/Application Support/Apreture - no help
I'm getting really worried that I have lost my library. I understand that the files are still there, but what about my edits and metadata. Seeing that this is a wide-spread issue is not helping my situation.
    Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

Good questions and thinking! I was vague about the chronology.
I first noticed the issue when I intended to import some images on my iMac which is home to my main 200+gb library. I never even got to the importing stage b/c I saw red, literally, when I launched the app.
I then created a new library and tried to import.
My final stage was to import onto the MBP, different machine, different library.
As for updates, I had applied the Dec. updates to the iMac but not the MBP.
While I know this will destroy my crediability as a troubleshooter (if you saw my images you'd know I have none as a photog ) I have realized that my Canon 40D somehow got switched into a custom mode during a few of the shots causing it to go into Canon's sRAW. I think that accounts for the behavior of the imported images on the MBP. It does not, however, account for my entire library turning red on the iMac.

  • "Unsupported Image Format" error ONLY on exposures longer than 4 minutes

When importing my photos to Aperture, I get an "Unsupported Image Format" error, but ONLY on images where my shutter was open for longer than 3 minutes or so.  I'm looking at Aperture right now, and I've got one shot that was 184 seconds long - no problem. Next shot, 240 seconds - ERROR.  I shoot everything in RAW and have no trouble with any of my "normal" exposure shots - thousands of them.  Error shows up only with the shots where I've locked the shutter open for more than 4 minutes.
What the heck is up?  I'm *assuming* it's a problem with Digital Camera RAW in OSX, as Preview.app is also unable to display the image.  Photoshop CS6 and Lightroom 4 have no trouble with these images.  Even in Aperture, I see a low-res preview of these "error" images for about two seconds before the error message replaces it.
    Aperture 3.4.5
    Digital Camera RAW 4.07
Nikon D600 (latest firmware) shooting .NEF RAW files, all images imported directly into Aperture from SD card in computer's slot
    OSX 10.8.4

This problem, unsupported image format for long exposures, has been reported on and off for some time now.
Its not an easy search to phrase but for example I found this Aperture 3 will not recognize RAW files obtained from long ... at dpreview from a while back.
Sorry to say there are no resolutions that I can find. You might want to try and get in touch with Apple. They don;t make it easy to get software support even on there 'pro apps' but if you start with the normal Mac support number you might get to someone who can help.
Additionally you can leave feedback by going to Aperture->Provide Aperture Feedback. There is a setting to report bugs.
Sorry I don;t have anything better to report.
good luck, post back if you find out anything
    regards
