"Unsupported Image" for iPhone JPGs

Just noticed that a BUNCH of previously imported (all viewed, and some edited in Aperture) images are now either black boxes with "!", or the "colored snow."
Ugh.
Weird thing is these are all JPGs taken with my, or my wife's iPhone 5.
I've repaired Aperture permissions, and even Repaired Database. But they're still no bueno.
I also selected the photos and tried "reprocces originals" but it says "unsupported" and won't/can't reprocess anything.
I guess I'll try a database rebuild tonight. But… I'm kind of freaking out. A lot of these are of our baby's first few days.
I know this is usually a problem for RAW files, or files edited in an external editor or with a plugin.
But these are all iPhone 5 JPGs!!!
I have backups, as well as a well-maintained vault. But I'm still very nervous.
Help?

Has the rebuilding created a "recovered" project? Search the Library Inspector panel. If versions have lost the connection to the originals, Aperture will collect them in a special project for lost+found image files.
YES, BUT THERE ARE ONLY 2 IMAGES IN IT. AND THEY ARE TIFF SCANS FROM A LONG TIME AGO (THAT I HAVE SINCE RESCANNED, AND TRIED TO DELETE THE CORRUPTED ONES, BUT THEY KEEP SHOWING UP AS RECOVERED, LOL).
There must be something preventing Aperture from accessing the original image files.Where is the Aperture library stored, on an internal or external drive? And how is the drive connected, if external?
I HAVE MY LIBRARY ON A SEPARATE INTERNAL HD (AND BACKED UP TO A VAULT, ON A SEPARATE INTERNAL, AS WELL AS TIME MACHINE, AND CRASHPLAN).
Can you check, if your original image files are still ok inside the Aperture library?
I DON'T USE A REFERENCED LIBRARY, SO I DON'T KNOW HOW TO CHECK THIS. IT KEEPS TELLING ME THAT IT "DOESN'T HAVE ANY REFERENCED FILES."
If you also have iPhoto 9.5, select in Aperture the menu command "File > Open Library in iPhoto".  In iPhoto select one of the photos with corrupted thumbnails and use the menu command "File > Reveal in Finder > Original File".  That will open the "Masters" folder inside your Aperture Library package. Be careful not to move or modify anything inside.
I DID THIS, AND THE IMAGES ARE STILL CORRUPTED. AND WHEN I OPEN THEM IN FINDER, THEY DON'T WORK. IT JUST GIVES ME A GIANT GENERIC THUMBNAIL, AND SAYS "AN ERROR OCCURED WITH THE PREVIEW OF THIS DOCUMENT."
If you do not have iPhoto 9.5, select the Aperture library, ctrl-click or right-click, then open the folder "Masters" and go to the year, month, day of the images in question.
Do you find any original photos, and can you open them in Preview?

  • Launch image for iPhone 5 with Flash CS6

How do I add the required iPhone 5, 4 inch screen launch images to my build using Flash CS6. I have targeted Air 3.8 beta and there is no support for bundling the necessary images. Do I need to edit the plist or app descriptor xml file or something? Do Adobe plan to accommodate these new Apple requirments in a future version of CS6 or AIR SDK?
Up until now I have had no problems submitting binaries to the Appstore, but as of May 1st Apple reject any binaries that are not optimized for the 4 inch screen of the iPhone 5.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
Thanks for your effort!!!Did exactly the same, but no result.I changed the version number in Flash in the airsettings to 2.1, and also tried (1.1, 2.1. 1.0.1)After that, put another version ready to upload. Select this version in the apploader. And than it tells me: This bundle is invalid. The value for key cfkbunleversion in the info.plist file must contain a higher version than that of the previously uploaded version.
I do not want to update my app, but only the screens you see when buying the app in de store. And also the name of the developer. I changed my apple id from [email protected] into [email protected] thought if I run an update, the apple-id of the app will change.
    (I am not sure).
    Hope to hear from you.

    Hey Christa,
I'm not entirely sure what process you've gone through, but as far as uploading an update goes, it's much like uploading your original app.  You need to go to iTunes Connect first and log in, go to "Manage Your Apps" and then click on the app you want to upload an update for.  There'll be an option on the next page that says "Add a version".  You then enter the information that you need to for the updated app and click on "Save".  You'll then have the button you need to click on that says something like "Ready to Upload Binary" or something similar.
Once you click on that, you need to open up Application Loader and then upload your updated app through that.  If you've entered the correct information in the steps above, you should be able to choose the new version number for your app from a list.  You then just submit it like you did originally.
After that, you simply have to wait.  It's not instantaneous.  Submitting an update is much the same as when you submit an app for the first time.  It has to go through the whole review and approval process all over again.  So when you go back to iTunes Connect, you'll see for the app you've updated, there'll be a green light for the older version that's approved and currently on the App Store and an orange light for the update that's waiting approval.  Once the update has been successful, it will automatically replace the older version (if you chose that option earlier) and then you will only have the one green light, for the most recent version, on iTunes Connect and then people who have downloaded the app previously will get the Update alert in the App Store on their phone/device letting them know that there are updates available.
For me, the update process was reasonably quick.  It took anywhere between 3 and 5 days before the update became active on the App Store.  Hope this helps.
    Cheers,
    Hally

I'm guessing your problem is caused by code validation errors: orphaned division tags for example, or mismatched code and document type (i.e.  XHTML /> mixed with HTML > style closures).
Start by using the code validation tools below and fix any reported.  You'll need an Internet connection for this:
    HTML Validator - http://validator.w3.org
    CSS Validator - http://jigsaw.w3.org/css-validator/
    HTML & CSS Tutorials - http://w3schools.com/
If this doesn't solve the problem, you will need to post a URL to your live page so we can see your code and images working together.   Or at the very least copy and paste your HTML and CSS code into a reply using double arrows >> Syntax Highlighting > Plain.

  • Aperture gets "Unsupported Image Format" on some JPG images

I'm using Aperture 1.5.2 "trial" on PB 15" with OSX 10.4.9. I am getting "Unsupported Image Format" on about half of the 15,000 JPG images that I have on my HDD. But not all of them - even though all images come originally from my D100 camera and are JPEG images. These are all JPEG images with extensions JPG, jpg and jpeg. No RAW or TIFF.
My images are currently catalogued in iVew MediaPro [IVMP] and I'm interested in switching to Aperture. So I've gotta find a way to import those photos.
Here's a clue: When I put the CF card from my camera into the computer yesterday and tried to add the images to Aperture it reported that all the images on the CF chip were "Unsupported Image Format." I was not copying the images - just leaving them im place. As a test, I then used IVMP to import from the CF card onto the HDD, into a directory. Afterward, I fired up Aperture and it could properly index and display the files. I noticed that the pre-existing images that are viewable in Aperture all have previews when viewed in the Finder. Also, they've all been imported from CF to HDD using IVMP, so there may be some processing going on there. I also tried reading files into Photoshop and rewriting them with previews, which I verified in the Finder, and those files also can not be viewed in Aperture. So it is not just a question of having a preview - it's something else about the files.
Another clue - when I shoot more than one CF of photos in a day, I use IVMP to import the first CF batch, and those are always visible in Aperture - but IVMP doesn't let you import two batches on the same date (pretty goofy huh?) - so to import an additional batch I have to (Finder drag-drop) copy from the CF to the HDD into a directory - and those files have no previews, have not been imported thru IVMP, and interestingly are not viewable in Aperture.
So I'd have to conclude that iView MediaPro is doing something to "tame" the files' format that makes them acceptable to Aperture. But I want to dump IVMP, so there has to be some other way to make these D100 files acceptable to Aperture.
I either need to "fool" Aperture into reading the files or find a way to tweak 'em and make 'em acceptable to Aperture. Any ideas from other iView/Aperture users out there?
    PB 15"   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

Good idea, but I checked it... I mentioned reading right from the card in order to illustrate that the JPG files are "unsupported image format" even *right from the camera*. *In fact* the CF is not the differentiating factor between renderable and non-renderable. The real factor is whether the files went thru iView Media Pro or not. Files that were drag-dropped from the CF into a folder are not renderable by Aperture and files that were imported first (from the CF or from another folder) thru IVMP into a folder are renderable.
Yesterday I confirmed again that GraphicConverterX does not fix the files if I import and then rewrite with additional options turned on. It also sees the same IPTC data and EXIF on both a "good" file and a "bad" file. Identical. I also fixed the OS9 creator and filetypes so they're <none> and that didn't fix anything - some good files and some bad files have this configuration.
Ah another COOL THING - I just loaded a CF card into the computer and brought up Aperture - it immediately recognized the card and showed me two previews - one for a NEF (Nikon RAW) and one for a JPG. The previews looked fine. I clicked to have it import the photos. Once imported, the NEF looked OK, but the JPG had a grey preview and then "Unsupported Image Format" on the large version. I think this confirms the file format is a problem, but then why was Aperture able to gen a preview when the file was on the CF chip but not after it was copied to the HDD?
I double-checked this by copying in Finder drag-drop from the CF card to the HDD and then importing the same two photos (NEF and JPG) from the HDD, and indeed the NEF was renderable and the JPG was not. For me this confirms that there's something about the file format that Aperture can't deal with.
I then imported the same two files using IVMP (Media Pro) and as expected, both files could then be "imported" and rendered by Aperture. So IVMP is doing something that makes Aperture really happy.
In case someone can actually compare the two files - I have put up a "bad" and a "good" JPG - it's the same image from a Nikon D100, but one of them (bad) is right from the camera and the other (good) was imported by IVMP and somehow is acceptable to Aperture. Any intelligence that anyone can add based on these files would be useful.

  • Using the value "Image/*" for the accept attribute of the HTML input Element, how can I add .pdf to the array of preconfigured file types (.jpe, .jpg, .jpeg, .?

On a form, using the value "image/*" for the accept attribute of the HTML input Element, how can I add .pdf to the array of pre-configured file types (.jpe, .jpg, .jpeg, .gif, .png, .bmp, .ico, .svg, .svgz, .tif, .tiff, .ai, .drw, .pct, .psp, .xcf, .psd, .raw)?
Say I wanted to add .gif, .jfif or .ico. I find this array limited, how can I add types to image?
    <input type="file" name="file" accept="image/*" id="file" />
mimeTypes.rdf does not seem to allow this.

''mimeTypes.rdf'' has nothing to do with web development. It's a file that stores your file handling preferences (e.g. if you want ZIP files automatically saved or opened).
You can't change the file types of the pre-defined content specifiers (audio/*, video/*, image/*), but you can specify additional MIME types. To add PDF to your above example,
    <pre><nowiki><input type="file" name="file" accept="image/*,application/pdf" id="file" /></nowiki></pre>

However, the exported image seems to be OK. But now I notice that my LR directory of folders in Library view does not show images correctly: If there is a folder with sub-folder(s), the folder will indicate 0 images, but the sub-folders show the proper number of images. Unless you have the source files that were on the TC or Windows machine you will have to start over with a new library as follows:
Start over from scratch with new library
Start over with a new library and import the Originals (iPhoto 09 and earlier) or the Masters (iPhoto 11) folder from your original library as follows:
    1.  Move the existing library folder to the desktop.
    2. Open the library package like this.
    3. Launch iPhoto and, when asked, select the option to create a new library.
    4. Drag the Masters (iPhoto 11) folder from the iPhoto Library on the desktop into the open iPhoto window.
This will create a new library with the same Events as the original library but will not keep the metadata, albums, books slideshows and other projects.  Your original library will remain intact for further attempts at fixes is so desired.

  • Searching for original image size of jpgs inserted into iBooks Author.

Does it matter or does iBooks filter and change the jpg within program after inserted? Does the jpg become part of the iBooks Author file or read the original jpg until collected for publishing?
I'm creating a full-page layout with images for a children's style book. The jpgs insert small and I've been dragging each one to fill the page. Look great on my MacBook Pro but don't know how they translate into iPad as I don't own one. The jpgs' outer boundaries cross onto the next page to fit as I want it too.
If I knew the exact size of the iBooks Author page and the pixels allowed, I could crop in photoshop and insert it meeting the dimensions. Can't find dimensions of the page size in all my reading.
    Thank you!

You should size/crop outside and then bring in...

  • Poor image quality for uncompressed .jpg files

    Hello,

  • Unsupported Image Format for DNG from GF1?

I am in the process of trying to switch from Lightroom 3 to Aperture 3 (in case you are wondering why the main reason is increasing integration between iOS and Aperture).
Most of the images in my Lightroom catalog are from Nikon DSLRs which when I import as DNGs from Lightroom into Aperture show up just fine. However, all of the old DNGs I try to import from Lightroom as DNGs that were shot with my Panasonic GF1 don't render in Aperture and just show up as "Unsupported Image Format."
Please note that new GF1 images I import from the SD card of my GF1 import just fine. The problem seems limited to GF1 images saved in Lightroom as DNGs that I am importing into Aperture.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to correct this issue?
    Thank you.

Solved it. Had nothing to do with Photoshop PS4 install, it had to do with moving my home space to a larger external drive. One of the "import" setting changed (I don't remember changing it) such that the images weren't getting imported into Aperture. (Re-?)checked that, and all is well. Will go for the PS4-reinstall tomorrow.

I've opened a bug for this issue as well. I want to ask if anyone experiencing the same issue and has found a workaround.  Basically Air Runtime is picking up the wrong launch image when launching on iPhone 6. It defaults to [email protected] instead of the [email protected] iOS 8 picks the correct image but Air Runtime does not. Here is the link for the bug. If this is confirmed, this could result in rejection for all the app developers who optimized their apps for iPhone 6 . It is hard to catch this bug in release mode since the Air Runtime loads pretty fast and it occurs when you device is slow or doing something in the background. You can see it easily on iOS simulator or debug mode. We tried everything for a workaround but we failed.
Bug#3831747 - Adobe Air Initiates the wrong launch Image on iPhone 6 - Possible App Rejection by Apple Review Team for a…

Apple recommends the storyboard/xib option but you can still use launch images as assets in your root. When you open a new project in xcode you can look at Contents.json and see the naming conventions they use for iOS8. We grabbed the new naming convention from here. Also setting up in the application xml the UILaunchImages key works too. Please see the below example. It would be a better solution if Adobe Air refers to xml/info.plist values that the developer sets instead of hard-coded naming conventions.

    Allen,
there have been several threads with similar problems of broken references to raw images; in some cases even with managed raw images, that cannot be reconnected, for example:
    Raw images all blank
One more reason to avoid managed libraries.
The "lsregister" command must exist on your machine.  It may move around a bit, because there are many links in the path to current versions.
After the last update I found this direct path (MacOS X 10.8.2):
    /System/Library/Frameworks/CoreServices.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks/LaunchSe rvices.framework/Support/lsregister -R /System/Library/CoreServices/CoreTypes.bundle/Contents/Library
To search the "lsregister" command in your system, try to open the "/System/Library/Frameworks/CoreServices.framework" in the Finder and to navigate from there:
Typing "open /System/Library/Frameworks/CoreServices.framework" into the Terminal will open a Finder window in the directory (as you probably will know )
Added: If newly imported raws are recognized without problems it is unlikely to be a problem of missing raw conversion registration. I am just concerned about the error message you get.

  • Aperture 2+D5100+.NEF(RAW)/JPG=Unsupported Image Format

First off, I am new to all this...
But anyway....Last night, for the first time, I imported images directly from my Nikon D5100 memory card onto Aperture 2.  (Yes, I know there is an Aperture 3.  I am just trying this one until it is something I decide I want to put the money in to...then I will get Aperture 3.)   It appeared as though everything was going well because I could see the thumbnails/ previews along the bottom in my browser.  So, I went ahead and deleted the images from my memory card.  Then, when I clicked on an image to edit it in the viewer, I got a red screen with white writing that says "Unsupported Image Format."  Boo!  Is there ANYTHING I can do to recover my images?  And secondly, is there anything I can do to prevent this from happening again?
A few suggestions from looking around online that I have tried:
***Opening Aperture while holding down Opt+Command and then selecting: "Rebuild Now" and also the "Consistency Check" buttons.
***Opening: Finder- Library- Preferences- and then deleting com.apple.aperture.plist
The only change from doing all that is  now my thumbnails don't appear- instead it just appears as though they are loading...
Again, working with Aperture 2, camera is a Nikon D5100, image format is both RAW (.NEF) /JPEG, (only the RAW file is showing up) and "Unsupported Image Format" message appears when I click on image and try to edit in the viewer.
Thanks for any help or suggestions!
