Unsupported video resolution

I changed to an unsupported (by my monitor) video resolution and now I can't see the screen. How do I change it back?

I believe if you reset PRAM, it will revert to a default setting. See http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1242 & http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1379?viewlocale=en_US

  • Re: "Unsupported Video Signal" when connected to TV.

    i have a toshiba regza, model 42rv530u. i am getting the same unsupported video when i try to play games or some videos. i have made sure my resolution is set with the tv but noticed my video card is not reconnizeing the tv , has it listed as unidentafied monitor. i had down loaded a driver for a older pc to this tv a few yrs back . the pc i'm hook up to now is new. can anyone point me to a down load for this tv .  Thx

    I think the problem is the RESOLUTION of the TV when used as a monitor. My first computer connected had the highest resolution of 1280x1024, 60Hz -- but the options I was able to get from the Toshiba TV were different.
    Strangely enough, if I connect a normal 2nd monitor, I will get an image on the Toshiba TV and can use it as a computer monitor. But if I disconnect that 2nd monitor it goes back to saying: 'Unsupported video signal.'
    I wish there was a way to set the pc/computer resolution for the Toshiba TV through it's menu...
    Still can't get it to work by itself.

  • Internet Explorer Unsupported video type or invalid file path? HTML 5

    Hello.
    First I would like to salute all you people out there that answer questions in these forums. Thank you! They have been more helpful than my Web Design class.
    Here is my problem. I cannot get Internet Explorer to play my video files. It says Unsupported video type or invalid file path. I have added the .htaccess file for MIME types, and included .mp4, .ogg, and .webm. I have also included a smaller resolution for mobile. Any help or pointers would be appreciated.
    Also if anybody could explain to me in an idiot proof way how to add flash support step by step for this site that would be great. I have searched all over the internet, read many tutorials, used the free code makers, and I still cannot get flash to work.
    This is my first website, please go easy on me!

  • Mac Mini G4 Unsupported Video Format DVI to HDMI 42 Phillips 1080P LCD TV

    When connecting my Mac Mini G4 to my 42" Phillips 1080P LCD TV using a DVI to HDMI cable I get a message on the TV "Unsupported Video Format" message. I can connect my PowerBook G4 using the same cable and it connects great.
    One thing I have noticed is when connecting my Mini via DVI cable to my 17" LCD monitor the screen is a fated red. But using a VGA cable the screen is fine. I don't know if this is having to do anything with the issue of connecting to my LCD TV.
    Any suggestions?

    Make sure the connections are good and tighten down the thumb screws on all connectors. If two monitors are giving problems with DVI, it could be there is a hardware problem with the DVI port on the mini.
    Also, try starting in Safe mode (boot while holding down the shift key) and see if you get a useable screen in that case. If you still get the unsupported video format message, then that would further suggest some hardware problem with DVI.

  • Pre Lion iPhone videos show Thumbnail but can't play - new video generates Unsupported Video Format popup, no thumb but will play via quicktime

    This is really frustrating -
    Over the last year I have been uploading all of my photos and occasional iPhone video to Aperture 3 (latest version all patches in place).    Aperture would recognize the video, create a thumbnale and otherwise treat it nicely.
    Now, since upgrading to Lion I find that though I can "see" the old videos in their folders or projects and the associated Thunbnale, I can't play them - I either get the spinning color wheel and then nothing or Aperture will crash and report an error relating to Quicktime (sorry don't have an error code at the moment).
    If I try and export a video I can - but what I get also can't be played by Quicktime - just a black screen.  When I hit Play - the scroll bar moves, but there is no sound or video.
    From Final Cut Pro X, I can imoprt this exported video file and see that it appears complete - but FCPX uses it's own playback elements.
    If I shoot a new video on my iPhone, I find that I can see the thumbnale in the import option of Aperture when looking at the phone, but once imported I get a Popup telling me that it is an "Unsupported Video Format" - "Do you want to open this video clip with QuickTIme Player?"   If I hit Open then the clip does play, but the thumbnale remains a black square with the warning Exclamation Point.
    I have also had some issues with Lion Mail crashing when trying to play a video made on an iPhone and sent to me via email.   Seems more likley to be a Lion / Quicktime issue then an Aperture and Mail issue - but who knows.
    I spent 2.5 hours of quality time with the Genius bar this morning.  We reinstalled Lion and after that the suggestion was to trash and re-install Aperture, but that would require my disc and of coruse a trip home.   Mail doesn't seem to still have the issues with iPhone movies that it had - but Aperture is still not happy.
    Did as instructed and dragged Aperture 3 to the trash, did the empty trash option, restarted and reinstalled.   Then did a software update to catch the new update for Aperture and it found that.   Interestingly when I did start it up after that it DID NOT ask me for my key - so clearly some elements were left over.
    Now upon retstarting Aperture 3 once again I find that I can still see my old movies (their thumbnails show up) but I still can't play them.   The new test movie is there but still generates the popup regarding it being an Unsupported Video Format.
    And it's not just my iPhone.   Video sent via email from another iPhone can play as an attachment, or when dragged and dropped to the desktop, but once imported into Aperture is once again proclaimed to be an Unsupported Video Format.
    Hoping someone out there knows how to resolve this....

    For some reason it just started to work now. Have no idea what didn't work before.

  • Change the video resolution when capturing a WEB-cameras

    Language: Java
    It is used in addition: JMF
    When capturing video from WEB-cameras with JMF - getting the video is at the lowest resolution.
    Can you please tell how to change the video resolution?
    The code by which the captured image (no SWING-forms):
    MediaLocator getWebCam = new MediaLocator("vfw://0");
    private Player player;

    frameGrabbingControl = (FrameGrabbingControl) player.getControl("javax.media.control.FrameGrabbingControl");
    Buffer buffer = frameGrabbingControl.grabFrame();
    if (buffer != null)
    image = new BufferToImage((VideoFormat) buffer.getFormat()).createImage(buffer);
    if (image != null)
    return (BufferedImage) image;
    return null;
    public WorkWithWebCam() throws NoDataSourceException, IOException, NoPlayerException {
    initComponents();
    player = Manager.createPlayer(Manager.createDataSource(getWebCam));
    player.start();
    private void jButton1ActionPerformed(ActionEvent e) {
    timer.start();
    public static void main(String args[]) {
    EventQueue.invokeLater(new Runnable() {
    public void run() {
    try{
    new WorkWithWebCam().setVisible(true);
    }catch(Exception ex){}
    public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent e) {
    panelMain.getGraphics().drawImage(this.grabFrameImage(), 0, 0, 400, 300, null);
    P.S. Can you please tell how this forum can be identified code \ listing?

    Hello,
    I don't know if there is a way to change the video. But I think you can easily use your own videos by using a local .mpg or .3gp file via InputStream. Just change the player's parameters in video/mpg instead of capture://video.
    Hope it helps...

  • Unsupported Video Card?

    Hey guys I recently received my MacBook and I have just installed Windows Vista and installed Crysis to the Vista partition.
    When I boot up the game it says:
    "Unsupported video card!
    'Standard VGA Graphics Adapter' [vendor = 0x10de, device = 0x0863]
    Continuing to run might lead to unexpected results or crashes."
    ^^^So that pretty much means I can't run Crysis on my MacBook? That *****

    Ah okay, I have the latest MacBook.
    Would a game such as CoD4 run for example? Not that I really want to play lots of games on my Mac (I have my PS3 for that), I'm just generally wondering.

  • Video Resolution, and Windows Reset?

    Two quick questions.
    1. Where, if possible, can I set the settings for the videos resolution (i.e. 16:9, pixels, ect)
    2. Is it possible to reset all the windows to their default opening layout and size? (I screwed up something on my timeline so now only half of the horizontal slider bar is showing until I click on it)

    From the menu: Window>Arrange>Standard.
    This will only reset the Layout.

  • Unsupported Video Signal

    Have a 47TL515 3D tv.  Plugged in a VHS player and it shows the picture fine, but there is an error message on the bottom in a big grey box that reads "Unsupported Video Signal".  How do I get rid of the box?  It won't go away.

    So is this forum to post our issues with new Toshiba products? Do Toshiba support employees even monitor or use this site? Or is it just a place for digruntled users to cry on each others shoulders?
    I may have found a temporary fix to my problem. Was trying to watch another VHS tape with this annoying "Unsupported Video Signal" box on the screen and decided I couldn't take it anymore. I switched the RCA adapter I had plugged into Video 2 with the adapter plugged into Video 1. Switched input so now I was viewing VHS playback on Video 1. Same problem. Big gray Unsupported Video Signal box still there. So I switched them back, so VHS is now plugged into RCA plug adapter in Video 2 slot. All of a sudden the big gray box is gone! And it stayed that way! Was able to enjoy a whole movie without it coming back. And now, a day later, after shutting everything down last night and turning it back on tonight, the big gray box is still missing. Yay!
    Thanks for nothing Toshiba.

  • Cannot Change Video Resolution in Youtube

    When I try to change the video resolution in YouTube, the screen goes black and it automatically goes to 240p regardless of the resolution that I choose. It will play the video so long as it remains in its default resolution i.e. 360p or 240p. I also have Chrome downloaded and it has no issue changing between video resolution so I am assuming it is an issue with Safari. I reinstalled Flash and I tried resetting the computer but had no success with either of those attempts. Any ideas?
    Thanks!
    Dan

    Thanks dschinkal! When I view You Tube clips on Safari and click the resolution adjuster to increase it (say, to 720), the screen goes black and I have to click refresh in order to reload the page. After which, it plays again at a low resolution.
    This has happened since I bought my new iMac 27" a month ago.

  • Setting video resolution

    I have an ipod touch 4th generation, 64 GB
    I wanna know if it's possible to set video resolution of camera. If so, how I can do. If not, what's the default resolution?

  • Since upgrading to Lion, video from 7D shows as unsupported video format

    Video from my Canon 7D that used to work fine in Aperture now is showing as unsupported video format can anyone suggest a fix? Is this a Lion, Aperture, or Canon issue?

    What's the format of your video? That will give you a hint as to what plugin is failing (or missing).
    If you don't know, what's the URL of your site - it shouldn't take long for someone to work out the specifics.

  • Strange "Unsupported Video Format" Behavior

    Hi all;
    I just bought my TV 2 days ago and made the set up as the manual said. It is connected to my Philips 1080p HDTV (42PFL7432D/37) via HDMI plus there's a PlayStation3 also connected via HDMI. There are no HDMI switchers as the TV has 3 HDMI ports.
    Normally I turn on the HDMI source before the TV, but with my TV I get "+unsupported video format+" message using the HDMI cable. With component cables I have no problems so far.
    Last night I was downloading a demo from the PlayStation Network and tried the TV and it was working (via HDMI) - no messages. Rented "+No Reservations+" and saw it with no problems.
    For some reason if I want to use the TV via HDMI, I have to turn on the PS3 first, select it from the TV's menu, then from TV's menu again select the port to which the TV connects.
    I have already contacted Philips via e-mail regarding this issue as I saw on their support page they where having the same problem with some DirectTV H20-100 satellite boxes connected to the TV via HDMI. Probably will have an answer in 24 hrs.
    I've read a lot of threads posted here of people having issues with the update. I echo their voices.
    Have anyone noticed this?
    I'll keep you updated with Philip's response.

    Hi David,
    I called Philips' Customer Service and after a long conversation going over on what I've already tried, they decided to schedule a service appointment. The technician came over and told me he had the exact same problem with customer's 5... in. Philips TV. He took the unit with him because he has to disassemble the TV in order to get card's (I don't know if it is Video or HDMI) number as there are like 5 different ones.
    For me it makes sense this is a faulty card issue because before calling customer service I connected the TV and the PS3 to another Philip TV I have (32PF9630A/37) using the HDMI ports and it worked fine.
    I'm supposed to have the unit back this week. I'll keep you updated.
    You might try calling Philips. They gave a service reference code that if they would like to have in order to track a "faulty card" shipment, I can give it to you.
    Mike
