Unsure about what internal hd will be compatible for update

I have a Macbook pro 15" 500gb hard drive. I want to update to 1tb. I have looked online at buying a hard drive but am not 100% exactly sure what I am looking for to ensure compatability. When looking on the existing hard drive there are so many numbers and codes etc I am unsure which ones are the important ones. Any help will be appreciated.

OK so yes, but if, and only if:
(1) your MacBook has a Firewire port (not all do)
- and -
(2) your old external iSight camera works (not all do)
- and -
(3) your MacBook is working properly.
If you are not certain whether your MacBook model has Firewire, you can search MacBook Technical Specifications for your model. Alternatively, check the User Guide Manual that came with your MacBook for the information you need to be certain.
If you are not certain that your old external iSight camera works, you can test it using the suggestions in this link.

Follow the instructions in your iSight User's Guide to connect and turn on the iSight. Then launch the Apple app you want to use with your iSight. If you need more information about using an app, search for "camera" (without the quote marks) in the Help menu choice for the app.

I am having this problem. At first with the new iPhone 5, and then with the iPad 2. I am not sure why this is happening.
My gut feeling is this is an iO6 issue and here's why -
The problem mainly occurs with apps. I have about 150 apps, and when I plugged in the phone, iTunes went to sync all of them. The process would hang up after about 20 - 30 apps were loaded onto the phone. I could tell where about the process hung up because the apps on the phone showed up as "waiting".
Then on the iPad 2 I plugged in to sync and saw there was a huge "Other" component in my storage. It required me to restore the iPad 2 from backup. With this restore the same issues occurred - putting the apps back on the iPad would hang up. The videos on the iPad also got stuck - maybe after about 10 hours of videos transfered iTunes crashed.
My solution has been to soft reset the device, restart Windows, and continue the process until it's complete. This is remarkably inefficient and time-intensive but everything works with patience.
I have been wondering if others have had these same problems.

IMac getting selective about what discs it will accept

I have a 17inch iMac Intel Core 2 Duo, running OS X 10.4.11.
Earlier today, I went to the Apple Store and bought the box set recommended to me for upgrading the system software to 10.6 (Snow Leopard).
The iMac's optical drive will not read the disc containing the Snow Leopard upgrade. To make sure that it wasn't completely hosed, I tested it with some other discs that I have. It was able to accept and read discs such as the one for SimCity and Civilization, as well as Microsoft Office and Quicken. A random sample of my audio CDs revealed the iMac will read them without difficulty. However, I observed that some of the DVD-ROMs that I have burned in the past to archive my photos are no longer accepted, nor will it accept a random sample of any of the commerically produced DVDs that I have.
In short:
Audio discs: OK
Data discs: mixed results
DVDs: forget it about it
Anyone have any ideas what might be going on?

I think den.thed is along the right lines with this being a possible hardware issue. Problematic drives are going to have problems with DVDs first, along with any kind of burned media. While your computer is relatively young it isn't unusual for superdrives (fancy name but basically a DVD drive) to start having problems after 4 years or so. You can buy a cleaning disc for about US $10 though I have not had much success with them. When my drive started failing I bought a new one (Pioneer drives are Mac compatible) for about $30 and replaced it myself in about 15 minutes. If you are so inclined you'll probably get input on that in this forum (I happened to wander in from the G4 tower side of things . ). One place to start shopping is [www.macsales.com] You can get an idea of prices and they have "upgrade" guides to suggest parts as well as videos on how to do it yourself.
One thing to consider though is if the computer is still under warranty in any way you might need to have it done by a certified technician. If it is not under warranty and you want to try cleaning it, I'd just get a disc and do it yourself. A technician will likely charge you more for the time than a brand new drive would cost you. I also can't think of a single case of many very similar posts on here where I have seen somebody report success with one of those cleaners (it must happen some time but I haven't seen a case).

Backup the Lightroom catalog, then uninstall your current install of Lightroom. (Do not delete the catalog or previews.) Install the the Adobe Creative Cloud app, log in with your Adobe id (after completing your subscription particulars) and install Lightroom using the CC app.
The existing Lightroom catalog will be compatible with the new install but any 3rd party plug-ins will need to be installed.

So I bought my MacBook Pro 13 inch with AppleCare protection about 2 weeks ago and from the moment it came out of the box I noticed that the battery was draining very quickly. After downloading apps whether paid or free you receive notifications to update them frequently. However, I don't know how to be able to tell if I will be charged and how much I will be charged for it. It has cost me quite a lot in overdraft fees. Could someone please help me?

Updates for free apps are free. I have never had a situation where I was charged for updating a paid app. I guess if you were to be charged for for updating a paid app what would be the same thing that happens when you download a paid app in the first place. You get a prompt that askes whther you want to pay and download

I live in India. I have a MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2012). My Macbook crashed 3 days ago. Apple said the internal hard disk needed replacement. They gave me two options.
1. They get a new hard drive replaced from Apple for 12000 INR (280$),
or 2. If you find it expensive, you can buy an internal hard disk from sources other than Apple and we will fix it in for you.
I have decided to go with option 2, because option 1. is not feasible for me!
Now my question is,

How can I determine what internal DVD drives are compatible w/ my G5?

I'd like to put a new DVD drive in my G5. It's one of the original 1.8 dual machines, with some extra RAM. I'm having trouble with the drive these days, and I'd like to figure out what drives are compatible. Thoughts?

I cannot speak for all drives but today I installed a Pioneer 710 ( same drive as 111 ) in place of the original Pioneer 106.

HT1414 What media and other data is referred to, which will be erased for update?

Erased data and other media to be erased when updating my ipad 2 with the IOS 6 update. Not sure what will be erased. Concerned about erasing some existing media and data. Any information would help.

You didn't say what version of the iOS you are upgrading from, but I assume that it is less than iOS 5 or you would not be concerned about using iTunes, because you could backup with iCloud and never have to use iTunes.
Also, you can sync multiple devices with one iTunes library and keep all of the content separate. I have an iPod Touch 5th generation and the iPad 3 that I sync with the same iTunes library and each device has different content on it. Your devices do not have to have the same content on ech one.
