Unsure I have the correct version Flash Player

My version of Flash Player, according to the version test on adobe.com is WIN 10,0,45,2
at first glance this seems to be in order. but upon closer inspection I realized that the separating factors are commas, not periods. Therefore, I should have 10.0.45.2
So why do I have commas? Does it even matter? I'm not a computer WHIZ, but I'm aware that even a tiny little discrepancy like commas instead of periods can wreak big havoc. I've uninstalled and reinstalled several times.
I'm running Windows XP, 32-big, currently using google chrome. also have IE 8 and the latest FF installed on my computer. Flash works on some sites, including Youtube, but not on other sites, such as some games I play on Facebook. Slightly frustrated. I had this fixed once, but now it's not working again. Thank you for your help :-)

Hi greenie, Imagine my surprise to see you! The commas mean nothing regarding Flash Player, that is just an Adobe thing. In this case the numbers are the important factor and your numbers are correct:-)
Facebook and the games are having problems as I am working with a couple of other users on this thread. I don't know
what game or games you are having problems with but Zynga is one. The user has been in contact with them, but their
answer is unsatisfactory in my opinion. You can read the last couple of posts on this thread:
http://forums.adobe.com/thread/598309?start=50&tstart=0    You don't have to read the whole thread, start at post #50.
Don't assume the problem is your computer, if the game does not support FP vs 10.0.45.2 and also have that other issue, then there is not anything you can do on your part.
Let me know.
Thanks,

  • I do not have the correct version of the flash player, but when I follow the steps to download it, it still doesn't work in Firefox. (It does work in Internet Explorer)

Every time I click on a video icon, the response I get is that I cannot play the clip because I do not have the correct flashplayer. However, when I click to download it, nothing changes. I even tried disabling my security setting but it still did not work. Unfortunately, the troubleshooting help was too complicated for me to figure out. Is there something basic I can do to make firefox work? It does work on Internet explorer, so obviously the correct program is in my computer - it just won't work on firefox.

IE uses a different version of Flash than other browsers use.
1.Download the Flash setup file from here: <br />
    [http://fpdownload.adobe.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player.exe Adobe Flash - Plugin version]. <br />
Save it to your Desktop.<br />
    2. Close Firefox using File > Exit <br />
then check the Task Manager > Processes tab to make sure '''firefox.exe''' is closed, <br />
    {XP: Ctrl+Alt+Del = Processes tab}
    3. Then run the Flash setup file from your Desktop.

  • Does the Distribution download have the correct version of the Plugin?

I am downloading the MSI package for the 'Adobe Flash ActiveX and Plugin' (link below), like I do every month. The ActiveX download appears to be fine. However, the Plugin download does not appear to be correct, looks different. In Program and Features, the Adobe Flash Plugin reads "Adobe Flash Player 16 NPAPI" instead of reading "Adobe Flash Player 16 Plugin" - I need the MSI download for IE-11. Did someone put the one for FireFox at the download site by mistake? Can someone place check this?
    LINK to distribution site....

    Thank you in advance,
    RK

I forgot to mention, I am trying to download the latest version of flash Plugin 16.0.0.235 MSI package for IE-11 on a Win7 (64-bit) computer.

  • I play pogo games, I have the updated adobe flash player, but when I go to play a flash game FF states I don't have adobe flash player plug in, but I do have it..what do I do ?

Firefox keeps telling me I don't have adobe flash player, I do have it I just uninstalled and reinstalled it today

There are two version of Flash, ActiveX for IE and Plugin for other browsers. You need to install the Plugin version for Firefox.
    {XP: Ctrl+Alt+Del, Vista: Shift+Ctrl+ESC = Processes tab}
    3. Then run the Flash setup file from your Desktop.
    * On Vista and Windows 7 you may need to run the plugin installer as Administrator by starting the installer via the right-click context menu if you do not get an UAC prompt to ask for permission to continue (i.e nothing seems to happen). <br />

  • Can I please have my older version Flash Player back? I can't edit images in Photobucket anymore!!!

Firefox deleted my older version of Flash Player without my permission, consultation or notification. As a result, I can no longer edit images in Photobucket. I use Photobucket on a daily basis! I have Mac OS X 10.4.11 with a 1.07 GHz PowerPC G4 and 1.25 GB DDR SDRAM memory and I can't upload the newest version of Flash Player as a result. (Neither can I upload the newest version of Firefox for the same reason.) I also can't afford a new laptop in order to upgrade my software, Flash Player and Firefox, etc.. Please, please, please restore my older version of Flash Player! Also, in the future, please notify me BEFORE Firefox takes action that might go against my wishes! DON'T assume that Firefox knows better than I about that which I want! I've been violated in this and, as much as I love most of that which Firefox affords me, I don't want Firefox to control my personal activity. Firefox has just effectively hand-cuffed me with regard to my activity in Photobucket and I way more than don't appreciate it!

  • I have the latest Adobe flash player installed but it does not show up in my add-ons or plug-ins on Firefox 3.6. In the plug-in check, it recognizes that the shockwave flash is up to date. How can I have the plug-in appear and be enabled on firefox?

I have uninstalled the flash player and installed it numerous times with no recognition by the Firefox plug-ins. I also have uninstalled Firefox and reinstalled it as well. I have also restarted my computer several times as well. The flash player is certainly installed but not working on Firefox. Thanks in advance for your help.

    James j,
You have a different problem. Your screenshot shows "The Adobe Flash plugin has crashed".

  • Firefox does not play videos online except on YouTube. I have the latest updated flash player . What is the problem ?

The videos do not play except on YouTube. It shows an error message that it can't play the video. I have the latest updated Adobe Flash player. And the same videos work well on IE and GC !

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
*Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

  • Getting requests to update Java when System Preferences says I have the correct version.

Over the past few weeks, I've twice gotten pop-up windows labeled "Software Update" asking me to update Java. I said "no thanks" both times.
When I run Software Update, it doesn't offer me a Java update. When I check on Java through System Preferences, it says "Your system has the recommended version of Java" and it shows Java 7 Update 45.
This happened to me once before, maybe 2 years ago. At that time, I checked the Oracle website, and my version of Java was indeed out of date.
I don't have any other symptoms of malware or viruses. I run a pretty clean machine with very few bells and whistles.
    Should I be concerned?

    Daddy D,
since I don’t know what provided that message to update to you, I can’t tell you whether it was legitimate or not. I can tell you that Java 7u45 is out of date. If the Java Control Panel is telling you that an older update level of Java is your recommended version, then yes, I’d say that it’s unreliable.

  • I'm running windows 7, downloaded firefox 3.6, when I click to open and run the exe file, it says the file is corrupt. Any thoughts? I have the latest Adobe Flash Player installed

Says file is corrupt every time I try to install Firefox 3.6

    Hi Raphe,
There are a couple of things I know that can cause this. One of which I have experienced myself.
Sometimes, your router may be faulty. This will usually effect all downloads unless they are very small files. I have experienced this myself, and found the only way to fix the problem is to replace it.
Another problem that could cause this is a virus. You should scan your computer for viruses using a trusted antivirus. The virus is sometimes scareware which claims you have a virus, but actually, the only virus is the scareware antivirus!
    I hope this helps,
    -Taddle

  • I am using an Mac PPC version 10.5.8 and I am trying to download the correct version of Flash Player.  I did once but I had to install a "Clean Install" of my computer and when finished I had put back the new Flash Player I just installed well every time

I am using an Mac PPC version 10.5.8 and I am trying to download the correct version of Flash Player.  I did once but I had to install a "Clean Install" of my computer and when finished I had put back the new Flash Player I just installed well every time I try install the new player it is place in my Trash Folder and I can not get Player to work.  I did everything I was to install it correctly but it still does not install it correctly.  Can some help me.  Bob

Some MacBook Pro versions cannot be upgraded past 10.6.8; others are maxed out at 10.7.5. newer models can go all the way to 10.10. So it is important to know exactly what version you have--there may be close to 40 variants produced since the MB made its debut in 2006.
You can safely give us a snapshot of your model and its current config that will allow us to deternmmine your model and its upgrade potential, plus show it you have any software that may impede any upgrades. Please download and install this free utility:

It is secure and written by one of our most valued members to allow users to show details of their computer's configuration in Apple Support Communities without revealing any sensitive personal data.
Run the program and click the "Copy report to clipboard" button when it displays the results. Then return here and paste the report into a response to your initial post. It can often show if any harmful files/programs are dragging down your performance.
Remember that, on leaving OS10.6.8, you lose the ability to run older softare written for older PowerPC Macs (yours in Intel-based). Programs such as Office 2004 will no longer work (min of Office 2008 needed to work on newer OS versions), and AppleWorks will stop working completely

  • How do I choose and then install the correct version of Adobe Flash Player for my machine?

First thing - My computer -   PROCESSOR: Intel Celeron 450 @2.2 Ghz,  MEMORY: 4GB,  OS:  Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64 bit,  BROWSER:  IE 9.0.8112.16421
Everything was hunky-dory until the auto-installer updated my version to the Flash Player 11.2 version and that's when it all went downhill.  As soon as it installed that version, none of the TV networks, news networks or Hulu recognized that I had Adobe Flash Player.  In addition, I could no longer create a blank new tab in IE or use the tools button (the little gear symbol) in the upper right hand of an IE window.  Because of the IE problems, I figured it was a problem with IE and went about searching for a solution in that arena.  I finally found something at Microsoft that helped me determine if it was an IE problem and went through the various steps.  The final step required booting into safemode and trying to replicate the problem.  IE worked fine in safemode so, Microsoft determined the problem had to be with outside influences.
After several frustrating attempts with other fixes including virus scanning and firewall settings, the problem persisted.  I then un-installed Flash Player per Adobe's instruction and re-installed the recommended 'latest' version.  The problem remained.  So, when all else had failed I did a full system restore to a point over a month ago, which is prior to the occurence of the problem, while at the same time noting which drivers and programs would be affected.  I already had a sneaking suspicion that it was Flash Player because I read the full system requirements for the recommended version that the auto installer was trying to install (see below).  I then began updating everything one at a time to see if any of the windows/software/driver updates had any affect on IE.  None did until I got to the Adobe Flash Player and updated it.
Now, what I think the problem is:  The auto installer ONLY looks at Operating System and Browser to determine which version of Adobe Flash Player is correct.  In this regard, my machine should use the latest 11.2 version.  HOWEVER, if you look at the full system requirements for the 11.2 versions, you will note that it requires a...... 2.33 Ghz processor!  In this regard, 11.2 is NOT the correct version for my machine as it only has a 2.2 Ghz processor.  And I think therein lies the problem.
So.  I freely admit that I am not a computer expert and am, in fact, so far removed from ever even contemplating wearing such a title that I'm sure all who read this are sitting in your offices having a good laugh at my expense.  As such, I welcome anyone and everyone to tell me what I've done wrong and how I should go about fixing it.  If my deductions are correct, then could someone please tell me how to choose the correct version for my machine and then tell me how to actually install it on my machine.
I know that this is a long post and I thank you all for your patience and any help you choose to offer me.

    Mr. Willener,
    Thank you for your reply.
I did un-install and then re-install per the Adobe recommendations which are what you listed in your reply.  The problem remained until I did a MS Windows restore to a restore point a month or so ago.  The IE problems vanished.  However, now I'm using an outdated and unsupported version that is lower than most of the web pages require for their sites, at least the ones I want to view (they all say I need to upgrade my Flash Player which, when I did, put me in this fix).
    As to:

    Usuallyexasperated wrote:

You can safely ignore that requirement; it is simply not true.
Why would Adobe post a system requirement of 2.33 Ghz for 11.2 if it simply were not true?
