Unsync iPhone 5

Hi... Was wondering if anyone can help. I have an iPhone 4S that is my personal phone, and have it synced to iTunes . I also have an iPhone 5 work phone. When I connected it to my laptop I must have pushed the wrong buttons or something and it seems that both phones are synced to iTunes and iCloud so if I try to delete contacts on one phone it deletes it from both and same for pictures. My question is, is there any way of unsyncing or whatever my iPhone 5 and getting it back to normal . I have a different email linked to my work phone(iPhone 5) sorry that this is so long winded. Thanks any help would be greatly appreciated.... Cheers Mitch (mightymech69

Hi thanks for your promt reply.... Yes I am, as I said before because I already had my iPhone 4 synced to iTunes, iCloud etc stupid me connected my work phone (iPhone 5) too my laptop and before I knew it, it too was synced to the same account. So basically what I'm trying to do is get my work phone (iPhone 5) off my iTunes iCloud account so I can have separate photo and contacts ect Cheers Mitch

  • Unsync iPhone with iPad. Please help

My iPad mini asked if I wanted to use my iPhone phone number. I said yes. I'm new to apple products. Nowy iPad mini has my iPhone phone number. When I text from my iPad mini, it says it's being sent from my iPhone and Not from my iPad. Anybody know how to switch unsync? Get my Ipad mini own phone number back?

As long as they are compatible (i.e. you have the relevant iOS version and they aren't some of the few iPhone-only apps) then you can sync them to the iPad from your computer's iTunes or re-download them for free directly on the iPad : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519
Unless they are 'universal' apps (i.e. they have a '+' symbol against them in the store) then they will only take up an iPhone sized portion of the iPad's screen, unless you press the '2x' button which will appear on the screen which will effectively double the size of each pixel in both directions (so therefore may appear pixelated).

  • Unsync Iphone from my sisters Iphone

I connected my phone to our computer and opened my sister's Itunes account and now my phone has all of her phone contacts and mine are gone.  I called Verizon and they had me reset my phone and was able to get my contacts back but they are now all on my sister's phone too.  She deleted my contacts from her phone but that deleted them from my phone as well.  Our phone must be synced so how do I unsync them?

Why would you open/log in to your sister's iTunes account before syncing your iPhone? This did not do anything by itself - not unless you choose to sync contacts with a supported address book app on the computer - the same one your sister is syncing her contacts with. This is selected under the Info tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes, which must be manually selected.
Or you and your sister are accessing the same iCloud account on each iPhone.

  • New MacBook, old hard drive and unsynced iPhone.

Here's the situation. Old MacBook pro died (logic board gave up). I've removed the hard drive and bought an enclosure so that I can plug it in via USB to my new MacBook pro. I am NOT a fan of Migration Assistant. I'm discouraged by the thought of copying unnecessary files. I'd rather drag and drop what I need, and then install applications from scratch. There are so many things I no longer need, anyway. It's spring clean time, after six years. What confuses me is that my iPhone hasn't been synced since my old mac died a month ago. There are new photos and apps on there that I want. I also missed out on updating to iOS 5. I don't want to plug my phone in and get a warning about syncing to a new computer and erasing everything on my phone.
So what's the tidiest way to go about this? Do I first copy my iTunes library over before syncing my phone? What files do I need exactly? Do I copy my old iphoto library over too? Where are my old apps kept? I would love to plug in my phone and it assumes it's just updating as normal. But the most important thing is that I don't lose my new photos. That trip to Iceland is very important to me!
    Please talk me through this!

    Not even a suggestion?

When accessing a company Exchange account with an iPhone and syncing business/company contacts over the air, you can also sync personal contacts direct with a supported address book application on your personal computer at home via the iTunes sync process at the same time. All contacts that were on your iPhone when turning Contacts on for over the air syncing with your company Exchange account should be available with a supported address book application on your computer at home.
Most companies that provide an Exchange account do not want employees having business/company contacts on their personal computer at home or remaining on a portable device such as the iPhone when no longer employed.

  • Will deleting my icloud account delete the pictures, contacts, etc. currently in my unsynced iphone?

I want to change the appleid associated with my icloud account so that my wife's and my contacts and calendars aren't shared shared, while leaving a common store account so that our apps and music are shared.
When I start to delete the iclooud account so that i can set up a new one with a different appleid I get the very frightening warning:"If you delete your account all documents stored in icloud will be deleted from this iphone."
Yikes! Definitely don't want to lose all the history and pics on the phone. Do I need to sync and backup before deleting the icloud account?  Or will I lose that data too?  Thanks for any help with this...

You will lose the data stored in the iCloud account - like contacts, reminders, calendars, etc.  Photos will not be erased.  I'd sync to itunes before connecting to the new icloud account to be safe.

  • Syncing contacts from unsynced iphone to new imac

    Good morning,
My boss has an iPhone full of contacts. The iPhone has not been synched with a PC or Mac before. He now has a new Mac laptop, he wants to sync the two, without iTunes destroying the content on the iPhone. How can I, a) take a full backup of the iPhone before letting iTunes anywhere near it, and b) get the contacts synced to the iMac so that for that first sync it treats the iPhone as a master and does not delete the contents on the iPhone. Thanks.

Same here, I have an iPhone 4 and a MacBook Pro. On my phone I have 750 contacts and on my laptop only 100!
I can't get the contacts from the phone to the laptop. Nowhere does it say merge, or use replace contacts on laptop.
I hope I don't have to manually enter all the address book into the laptop!

  • ITunes 10.3 thinks it's a version below? No ping, locked out from iphone sync

Hi, my iTunes thinks it's a version below for some reason
I have 10.3 installed (Finder says so, iTunes > About says so) but when I try go into ping it gives me the "See what you're missing, upgrade to 10.3" message - I hadn't worried about this too much before but I just updated my iPhone to the OS 5 beta and now iTunes is not letting me sync at all leaving me with a fairly useless and unsyncable iPhone and crippled iTunes.
I have tried re-installing iTunes (Yes I even deleted all the preference files) I have tried iTunes on another account on my macbook and it gives the same error.
I actually do not know a single person that is able to access ping without getting some update error even though everyone is using the latest iTunes.
Please help, I need to sync my iPhone!
Here is a screenshot of the Ping message: http://cl.ly/470n472Q2C442b2k0w3Z

There is no easy way to get around the passcode lock feature. If this were easy to bypass, there wouldn't be much reason to have the feature in the first place.
You can power your iPhone off and on and/or reboot/restart the iPhone by doing an iPhone reset, but this won't get rid of the passcode lock or affect any data or settings. The only way to get rid of a passcode lock that you don't remember is by restoring the iPhone with iTunes.

  • Mac won't recognize iphone

I hate APPLE right now.  Why have they "suggested" to upgrade to Snow Leopard to make my life better, but all it has done is turn our mac into a rock with a screen and itunes will not recognize iPhone 4S anymore.  Wouldn't be a problem, but I have drank the Kool-Aid and we own 4 iphones, 1 ipod touch, 2 ipads, and several ipod nanos of various ages.  Mr. Cook, it has to be simpler than erasing a hard drive before installing a new operating system.  Shouldn't we be able to install over the one you tell me isn't as good as the new one?  If it were that good, I would think it would be able to avoid crashing with the old OS still installed.  I bought two of my kids iPhones for Christmas which will cost me the $100 to buy them. and the $145 per month for a pretty basic family plan with AT&T so for $3600, shouldn't they be able to sync them to the "cool new" iTunes on Snow Leopard?  Snow Leopards are on MY endangered list right now!
Can anyone tell me how to get iTunes to sync with my devices again?
I've already tried all the Apple steps on their website and even deleted iTunes through the Terminal to reinstall.  No joy!

The Mac OS X (10.6.3) I the tag line  didn't get you there?  The iTunes installed would be whatever version they have online as of 12/25/12. Yes that would be Christmas night. Would love to give you the version number but my new "rock with a screen" takes overnight to reboot and today is my lucky day, we get to reboot two times (using my unsynced iPhone 4S to respond).  I'm guessing you didn't get anything on your Christmas list. Keep your chin up JB there's always next gen iPhone5S.

  • Cannot set up emails

    Cannot set up emails

    Good,  Glad 101 looks useful.
Part of the fun with any new computer is the 'finding out process'. Take your iTunes question for example.   There are two paths apart from Apple formal notes (if you can find them).   One is  Google.   In this case I Googled 'how to delete iTunes content' and as you would expect, up came a variety of answers. The point and the value is that as people have different needs, the variety of answers meet each.
Two is the search box to the top right of your page.   When you are in the communities forums you can ask there in a similar way to googling.   The advantage is that all answers are for Macs.   Odd though it seems, I prefer to go hunting with Google.
Now, I don't have an iPad or iPhone so unsyncing is a foreign exercise to me ...
but I just Googled 'How to Unsync iPad and iPhones from Windows and ... here are some of the answers.
How to Unsync Iphone and iPad from Windows - Google Search
Hope this helps you get to grips with your iMac.   It's a lovely machine; you did the right thing in buying it.   By the way, when you have a moment, do fill in your profile, particularly the items you have, their version numbers, RAM and so on.   When you ask questions that is the first place people look to get the basics .

  • How do i unsync my iphone from itunes library and sync it to a different one without wiping my phone

I bought an iphone 5c and synced it to a windows 7 thinkpad laptop. I backed it up on this device and transferred music off there to my iphone. I recently had an acer aspire e15 laptop and downloaded itunes so i could now do everything i did on my old laptop on to this one, but it isn't letting me unless i sync my phone and wipe its memory. Although i can restore my phone it doesn't restore the music. So is there a way to unsync from one itunes library to another without wiping my data, or is there a way to transfer the music off my phone to my new itunes library so when i restore my phone its easy to restore the music i had on it previously.

The warning message provided is all iTunes content on your iPhone will be erased, not all settings and data. The same applies when selecting to transfer any photos from the new computer. If you had a computer backup for your old computer that included your iTunes library and all photos on your iPhone that were transferred from your computer that could be transferred to your new computer, this wouldn't be a problem.
iTunes includes an option to transfer all iTunes content on your iPhone that was purchased/downloaded from the iTunes Store. With your iPhone connected and without syncing, at the iTunes menu bar go to File and select Transfer Purchases From - the name of your iPhone. Or with your iPhone connected, right click on your iPhone under Devices in the iTunes source list and at the menu window that appears, select Transfer Purchases.
There are some 3rd party utilties that provide for transferring photos from an iPhone that were transferred to the iPhone from a computer, but the original resolution of these photos will be lost. When transferring photos from a computer, the photos are optimized for viewing on the iPhone. The same utilities provide for transferring music from an iPhone that was not purchased from the iTunes Store.
Contacts, settings, and photos/videos in the iPhone's Camera Roll are not affected by this.

my husband and i both have iphones now! i purchased his first and put an apple acct on his phone .. when he downloads apps now, they show up on my phone, but not visa versa.. my question is how do i unsync our phones and get him his own acct.. although, my email addres is on his phone, i was just setting it up without thinking i would ever purchase one !!! please help...apparently it is easy, so i must be missing something !!
    thank you

You shouldn't be using the same account on phone iphones. Have him setup his own and make sure his iCloud is logged in with that one

  • I have 2 iphones, one for personal and one for business.  I need my phones not to sync otherwise they will both ring all the time.  How can I log out of my icloud and unsync my phones?

I have 2 iphones, one for personal and one for business.  I need my phones not to sync otherwise they will both ring all the time.  How can I log out of my icloud and unsync my phones?

Syncing your phones to the same iCloud account won't cause them to both ring all the time, it only puts the same contacts, calendars, and other synced data on the phone.  The phones will only ring with someone calls the number associated with the phone.
If you want to stop using iCloud on one or both of the phones, go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, then choose Keep On My iPhone when prompted.  This will disconnect them from iCloud and keep a copy of the synced data on the phone.
