Untitled DVD folder on desktop?

For some reason a folder has appeared on my desktop called: Untitled DVD...?
It has the "burn" symbol on the folder.
I do not have a DVD in the tray.
What is this and why?

Hi bokes,
Just to further add to Kappy's reply to you (and yes, what you are describing is a Burn folder) you can simply drag it to the trash.
How did it get there? You probably inadvertently created it as there are several ways to do so - from the Finder menu you may have selected 'New Burn Folder', perhaps you right clicked on the desktop and inadvertently clicked 'New Burn Folder' in the submenu, maybe you wanted to burn something but changed your mind half way through the process.
Regardless, it can safely be deleted.

  • "untitled DVD' that won't go away!

Recently I burned CDs and DVDs. Now there are to folders "untitled DVD" and "Utitled CD" in my finder window and I can't make them go away!
    help?
    kt

OK, to answer the first question it is NOT in the dock but in the sidebar of the finder window.
I have tried "just" holding the mouse button down to select the folder and make it go "poof" but still to no avail.
I cannot "select" or "move" the FOLDER icon that has a burn disk on it that says untitled DVD. Even if I just hold that mouse button down on the icon for ever when I release the button it says "the volume for "untitled DVD" cannot be found". I have searched the hard drive for "untitled DVD" hoping to find it and delete it but still with no luck.
I cannot remember which program I was using to burn the DVD but most likely it was the finder!
any more help? anyone? ideas? ~kt

  • Mysterious Untitled Folders Appearing on Desktop

My finder seems to be creating untitled folders on my desktop without me asking. This started happening right after I installed 10.5.3. I will be working, go to my desktop and see untitled folder 1, untitled folder 2, and so forth. Sometimes it's just one, sometimes I return to my desktop to find 4 or 5. This is very strange and nothing like this has ever really happened to me with the OS. It's not a huge problem, more like an annoyance, but I find it kind of strange. Has anyone has a similar problem?

Yeah. It's a mild annoyance at the moment but I fear it will drive me insane eventually

hi friends i have mac ibook g4 i know its a really old model but its perfectly fine it has installed mac os x 10.5.8 ok whenever i copy and paste anything it says no free space weather i copy from folder to desktop or from usb to mac plz help plz

There is no download for 10.4.x or 10.5.x, there is a very slim chance you can get 10.5 by calling Apple, but usually you can only get it on eBay & such.
    Tiger Requirements...
To use Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger, your Macintosh needs:
        * A PowerPC G3, G4, or G5 processor
        * Built-in FireWire
        * At least 256 MB of RAM (I recommend 1GB minimum)
        * DVD drive (DVD-ROM), Combo (CD-RW/DVD-ROM) or SuperDrive (DVD-R) for installation
        * At least 3 GB of free disk space; 4 GB if you install the XCode 2 Developer Tools  (I recommend 20GB minimum)

    Leopard requirements/10.5.x...
        *  Mac computer with an Intel, PowerPC G5, or PowerPC G4 (867MHz or faster) processor
    minimum system requirements
        * 512MB of memory (I say 1.5GB for PPC at least, 2-3GB minimum for IntelMacs)
        * DVD drive for installation
        * 9GB of available disk space (I say 30GB at least)
    Classic/OS9 Apps no longer supported.
May be available from Apple again...

Trouble is Apple no longer sells it, check eBay & such for the Retail version, not the Gray Discs...

  • Can't burn to a DVD folder or DVD

I Premiere elements 4, yesterday I was able to burn a DVD folder but not a dvd of a video which was 5 minutes long. It took awhile because premiere kept giving me an error like "Adobe premiere elements has encountered a problem and needs to close". A couple hours later I wanted to burn another video I made to a dvd folder which is 23 minutes long, but I encountered the same problem: "Adobe premiere elements has encountered a problem and needs to close". I have been trying for two days to burn a DVD folder an/or a dvd of this video. And I tried http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=kb402373 , accept re-installing premiere.
I have windows xp home edition sp2(desktop computer)
    my hard drives are partion: C: 33GB/10GB, D: 40GB, E: 35GB
    my quicktime is updated
And all of the video files are in dv-avi

One likely problem is all that partitioning of your hard drive.
With DV editing requiring huge chunks of free, defragmented hard drive space (I recommend never editing on a drive with less than 50 gigs of free space) cutting your drive into 30 or 40 gig areas would seem counter productive.
Why is your drive partitioned, moon? And how many drives are we looking at?
Remember, your C drive needs a good 20-30 gigs of free space just to allow for operating system paging. If you're editing to a second drive, you should allow 50 gigs of free space for every hour of video you're editing, and never less than 20.
I have a 160 gig C drive with about 50 gigs free and I edit my video to a 500 gig drive with only a fraction of it in use.
What are the rest of your computer specs? How fast is your processor and how much RAM do you have? With such a small hard drive, it could be that you're just way too underpowered for video editing.

  • I have an untitled empty folder on the desktopthat will not be trashed.

I have an untitled empty folder on the desksktop. When I drag it to the trash the wastebasket icon turns to an arrow as if the empty folder is a disk. I am then asked if I want to force empty the trash- I do, but the empty folder is not deleted. Get info on the folder says the empty folder takes up 8 gig of space. Any ideas? Thanks!

I checked disk utility and it appears there are several items below the horizontal line on the left side. They are:
    uninstall_flash player
    Flash Player
    flash player11_7r700
    flash player
    decryptedFile.dmg
None of these items appear on the desktop.
Does that mean anything? I did have a problem when I updtaed my Flash Player- I got a warning when in Firefox saying that Flash has crashed. It took me awhile to repair it by reverting to an older archived version of Flash. Could I have caused a problem while doing that? Is there any way to resolve the problem and delete the empty folder?

  • Good morning, i would like to know how to take pictures from iphoto and put them in a folder on desktop

Good morning: would like to know how to take pictures from my iphoto and put them in a folder on my desktop

To take photos from iPhoto and put them onto a folder on Desktop, first create a folder on Desktop. Right-click on Desktop and create a new folder.
Then, open iPhoto, and you have two ways to export photos:
    1. Select the photos you want to copy to Desktop with Command key (or go to Edit menu > Select All, if you want to copy all photos), and then, drag them to the folder on Desktop.
    2. Select the photos you want to copy to Desktop with Command key, go to File menu > Export, and follow the steps.
You can choose the one you prefer

  • HT201361 Is it possible to save the screenshot files to a different folder than desktop. How can I change the folder?

Is it possible to save the screenshot files to a different folder than desktop (that is the default). How can I change the destination folder? Thank you, Sal

To change the screenshot capture location to a new place on your Mac, first think of a location that would serve you properly. We like to place ours in a "Screenshot" folder located inside of the User's "Pictures" folder. To change the location to this new location, open the Terminal and enter the following command:
    defaults write com.apple.screencapture location /Users/[u]/Pictures/Screenshots/
Replace "[u]" with the name of the user on your system. Once you have entered this command, let's restart the screen capture utility by restarting the SystemUIServer by entering the following command:
    killall SystemUIServer
You can optionally log out and back in instead of entering this second command, thus restarting the SystemUIServer. Once restarted, all screen captures taken from here on out will end up in your /Pictures/Screenshots/ folder in the User's home folder on your Mac.

  • Can't add a new folder to desktop when right clicking. Add a New Folder is missing.

I would like to add a new folder to desktop so as to organize my desktop screen. When I right click to drop down menu "New" the Add a new folder option isn't there anymore.

Try a Windows 7 support forum for help with that - not a Firefox support issue.

  • Cannot create a new folder on desktop.

Hello. When I am trying to create a new folder on desktop (right click->new->new folder) it gives me error message (i dont have english version of windows 8.1 so I had to translate it):
    Item wasnt found.
Item is no longer placed in <%3 NULL:OpText>. Check the location of item and try again the action.
    Can somebody help me?

    Hi,
As Ed mentioned before, are you able to create folder in other places?
It is usually caused by incorrect delection of some registry entries, maybe accidently by yourself or by some registry cleaner\anti-virus software\bad-coded programs you installed recently.
So quick fix is that you can restore the PC to a previous state with restore point if you have. (please note that you will lose some recent settings)
You can also run sfc/scannow to check and fix if there're some missing system files.
Or try the registry fix mentioned in the following link (Please first backup your registry, any incorrect changes on registry will cause serious damage)

  • I have a DVD folder (VOB files)that was rip for me.  They play correctly though it has the minus icon and the folder empty and I can't get permission to retrieve my home videos files .

I have a DVD folder (VOB files) that was rip for me form my VSH.  The DVD play correctly though it has the minus icon on the folder and appears to be empty and I can't get permission to retrieve my home videos files .

You're not dealing with your typical DVD-Video data structure with a SONATA_VOLUME.  This type of data structure is designed to prevent someone from extracting the data and it's very effective at doing so.  You've probably already found that the applications that allow you to copy, extract and convert the standard DVD-Video data structure (a "VIDEO_TS" volume) will not work with a SONATA_VOLUME (apps like Toast, MactheRipper and Handbrake).
While making a digital copy is pretty much not an option with a SONATA_VOLUME, capturing the video and sound via an analog to digital capture usually works just fine.  Of course, that's not nearly as simple as popping the disc into your computer and a drag and drop or just clicking "convert" or "extract" and waiting for the copy or conversion to finish.
Do you have any video hardware for capturing analog video?  A MiniDV camcorder will do the trick if your Mac has a FireWire port.  You'll also need video capture software.  I'd recommend a version of iMovie that supports DV-NTSC, Final Cut Express or Final Cut Pro.
My Sony DVD recorder creates SONATA_VOLUMES while my Panasonic DVD recorder creates VIDEO_TS folders.  The Sony is unplugged and sitting in the corner.

  • HT5333 why i don't have a dvd folder in the settings?

why i don't have a dvd folder in the settings?

    Got it.
The options have changed in the latest version – reduced from six to one.
But easy enough to make the presets. Just duplicate; change the bit rates  and save as custom.
Here are the 3 settings for Best Quality from C3.5, 120, 150, and 90 minutes respectively.
The difference between the above settings and Fastest Encode is 2 Pass vs 1 Pass.
Fame controls are off for SD sources and on for HD sources (to activate the Resize Filter).
The Dolby Digital preset for the audio stream is the same for all 3 settings.
    hth.

  • Building DVD from DVD folder

I ma having some problems archiving my Encore project. My workflow was as follows:
I have successfully burned a DVD disk from Encore. I then built a DVD folder and this seemed to work - indeed the resulting files work fine in PowerDVD. I then tried to build a second DVD disk, bit this time from the folder. First time I tried this I didn't get an erroe message, but the disk was unplayable on my set top play. The second time I tried it, Encore just cancelled the burn and ejected the disk...
Any ideas would be most welcome.
    Many thanks
    Julian

Use Nero to burn from the folder, it even allows you to use multiple burners at the same time to reduce time needed for multiple copies.
