Untriggerred event(e-fgv)
Hi Guys,
I have questions on event triggering of efgv(event functional global variable, I am not sure though this is the standard name that people use...haha) . We found out that efgv is quite handy. However the more we use it, we realized that some of the events are not triggered.
I created a VI(Test EFGV.vi) for you guys to run it. basically there is 1 loop that will trigger the event 50 times, and supposely all event cases on different loops should be triggered 50 times as well. However when you run the VI, the iteration of each triggered loop will be different. The VI has 1 trigger loop and 4 to-be-triggered loops, the same with what we normally do on our application: 1 will trigger many.
However there are also efgv that 1 designed to be 1 to 1 trigger. And I realized that the issue still occur but far less frequent. For example the previous project we have intermittent issue on this, where in a month, the efgv was not triggered only once.
Anybody know why this is happening? What did I do wrong with the program? Hope you guys can help me on this....

Queue based UI Event Handler Pattern (CLD)
Hi, everybody:
I am trying to get a better understanding of the Queue based UI Event Handler pattern in CLD exam. So I made the attached small LabVIEW program in which 3 buttons(State 0, State 1, State 2) are the 'switches' of 3 LED lights (S0, S1, S2), respectively. After comparing with the Queue based UI Event Handler pattern in NI's slide, I got some questions at the following points:
(1) There are six items(Initialize, Waiting for Event, State 0, State 1, State 2 and Stop) in the Enum constant in my program. To make this program use standard Queue based UI Event Handler pattern, should I only use 3 cases(Initialize, Waiting for Event, Stop) in the case structure and put 4 events(State 0, State 1, State 2 and Stop) under the case of 'Waiting for Event' ? Is what I coded a standard Queue based UI Event Handler pattern?
(2) In the attached screenshot of Queue based UI Event Handler pattern in NI's slide, I found 'Start' is wired with 'Enqueue Element.vi'. Why is that? Should there be a 'Start' Case in the case structure?
(3) In my program, I wired 'Waiting for Event' with 'Enqueue Element.vi' in all events except 'Stop' event. Should I wire 'State 0', 'State 1', 'State 2' with 'Enqueue Element.vi' in their corresponding events, just like my second question in NI's slide?
BTW, I didn't find the exact Queue based UI Event Handler pattern in LabVIEW 2011, Should we code it by ourselves in the real CLD exam?

What exactly are you trying to do with this program? Just using it to show a basic pattern for review?
Seems like you are trying to use Queues, a Case Structure, and Events all in one loop. Be careful not to try to be so advanced for this test. I still can't seem to figure out what the question you are trying ask is, but reply and we'll see if we can figure out an answer. You can put as many "states" in an Enum as you want but just not use them all during the program. I use fillers sometimes "just in case" I need to use it. Obviously, don't do this for a real program.

Your code is your code. This is just an example of the way that you could do it if you wanted to. You need to read the requirements document to determine exactly the way to Initialize and Start and whatever else your program. Typically, I've seen the following included in software using this structure: Initialize, Start, Run, Stop, Update Settings, Exit...and so on.
(3) In my program, I wired 'Waiting for Event' with 'Enqueue Element.vi' in all events except 'Stop' event. Should I wire 'State 0', 'State 1', 'State 2' with 'Enqueue Element.vi' in their corresponding events, just like my second question in NI's slide?
Well, you never ended up using the Initialize case. You need to Initialize outside the loop in your program. Again, try to explain your design more. It seems like what you have done is right, but I'm not sure what all you are trying to accomplish.

All code on the CLD needs to be your own. Templates are just there as a starter for people who are not familiar with them. If you want to take the CLD, you should be at the point where you don't need the templates to do the work for you.

The pattern you have used in your program is *technically* fine, but in all the code I wrote for the CLD and in most of the examples I saw, everything was just a state machine with a enum driver. Be careful trying to violate the norm on this as you will likely run into more problems than solutions. You could also encapsulate your Queue into an FGV, which would modularize the code and look a little neater.

Referencing non-event-source enum
Hello all,
I want to take three dynamic data streams from a triaxial accelerometer and rearrange which is x, y and z based on the global orientation of the accelerometer so that the global axes remain the same, i.e. if i reposition the accelerometer so that its 'y' axis now points in the global 'z' direction, I want the y data to be linked to the z wire so that saved data is consistent. In the past I've just altered the filename but that solution is pretty clumsy, and I already know how to do that so it's not interesting.
I haven't yet made anything workable because I'm just confused so no example VI unfortunately. All I have is three emuns labelled x, y and z, each with x, y and z items to choose from, as below:
Say, for example, I set the x enum item to y. I want the y item to be disabled for the y and z enums and I want the x input data to link to the y output data stream. If I choose a second then the third enum item is forced. It sounds simple, and I could do it in order using nested case structures but that's not very flexible at all. I had a go with an event structure but I can't find a way of disabling items in the two enums that aren't the source of the event, and then I have to flip the actual data streams. I thought about putting the items to be disabled into an array and using a FGV inside a case structure but I found myself with problems whichever way I approached it.
I'm not necessarily looking for complete solutions, but it would be good to have some ideas and fresh insight so that I can have a go myself.

I still have a couple of strange problems though:
The x item is always disabled. I checked all the items are enabled before running the VI but on starting it the x item immediately becomes disabled.
When making the z selection, the y item also becomes disabled.
The z item does not disable when selected.
I'm really not sure what the problem is.
Feel free to tear the rest apart also and offer criticism and/or advice/suggestions.

How can I see Calendar event END times at a glance?
How can I display my Calendar event titles exactly as I type them? I do not want Calendar to remove duration from the titles of my events. Otherwise I can't see event END times at a glance in month view; only start times. How can I "trick" Calendar to just show my titles as I type them - as I always could before I upgraded. I used to be able to enter "Seminar 9am-5:45" and it would appear that way regardless of how or what I chose to enter (or not enter) for duration.
I am running OSX 10.9.3.It's a bit weird, but if you type in the time info TWICE into the event title then Calendar uses/deletes one of them to populate the event details and leaves the other.

I would love to have an Event List view in iCal like I do on the calendar on my iPhone. Is there such a thing? The particular reason for wanting it (this time) is that one of the calendars in the ON MY MAC list has a number in a oval to the right.

There is no event list option on iCal like the one on the iPhone.
That number means that you have an event invitation. Use iCal>View>Show Notifications to choose what to do with the notification. -
In the Monthly view of iCal the only events that show a color bar in the event is the Birthday Calendar. All other events in all my other calendars only show a color bullet next to the event (unless I click on that event which then shows as a color bar). I would like to know if it is possible for all the calendar events to have a color bar in the monthly view instead of just that tiny color bullet.

Before making any attempts at deleting calendar data, backup what you have just in case:
Click on each calendar on the left hand side of iCal one at a time highlighting it's name and then going to File Export > Export and saving the resulting calendar file to a logical location for safekeeping.
iCal has an automated function located in iCal > Preferences > Advanced > Delete events "X" days after they have passed. By typing in a value for days you can tell iCal to delete all events before that time frame.
Example:
Today is 4-16-2012.
If I wanted to delete all events prior to 1 year ago (4-16-2011) I would type in "365" for the number of days.
Once you type in the number of days you want kept in iCal, close the preferences and then quit iCal.
Re-open iCal and check to see if the events are gone. If not you may want to leave it open for several minutes and then quit again.
Once the events are removed go back to iCal > Preferences > Advanced > Delete events "X" days after they have passed and make sure the check mark is removed to prevent future deletion.

Can you show at a glance which event images are in albums?
Say I had an event containing multiple similar but different images, is there a way to show in the grid view for example which images have already been used in one or more albums?
Would be handy to be able to select a 'show list of albums containing this image'dialogue box. I guess you could hide images you've used but that wouldn't work automatically, nor would any other tagging/rating.
Another approach would be to make albums containing everything in a given event, then move the images out of that album once used, just seems fiddly to me.

Yes it would and many people have suggested tit. Add your voice to the chorus at iPhoto Menu -> Provide Apple Feedback.
A workaround - and it's no better - is to go to an album and select al, then give all those pics a keyword. Then in grid view you can see which pics have the keyword. (View -> Keywords)

Unable to capture startup and shutdown event of Photoshop in automation Plugin.

I am creating an automation plugin and I want to register some events. I have seen listener plugin sample to register event in startup and unregister event in shutdown. I have used same code in my plugin but I am unable to capture the startup nad shutdown event of Photoshop. On clicking the menu item of my plugin the calls come inside the AutoPluginMain but during the startup or shutdown of plugin, the calls does not come inside the AutoPluginMain.
I am unable to detect the cause of the problem. Can someone please giude me??

Yes, I am working on Windows. As you suggested, I compiled .rc file but the compile option for .r file was disabled. After compiling the .rc file, I again rebuild the complete project and tested my build. But still I was not able to achive the desired result.

Its really strange that its not able to caputure the event in CO.
Below is the way in which we handle to Submit action at CO level.

I am using Snow Leopard on a MacBook. I have an iPod touch 3G. I do not use iSync it Mobile Me. When I sync my iPod through iTunes new events on my iPod do not show up on my Mac and old events do not delete. I have read help instructions that include deleting the data on the iPod. The iPod has the correct data and the Mac does not so I have not followed those instructions. I need help as the only reason I bought the Mac was to be able to sync, back up, view and print my calendar. Currently it is useless. If only Apple could have learned from the elegance of the Palm software.

Problem with flash in events packaged application

I´v installed the Events packaged application.
On page 24 you can show some flash-reports. But I get an error: xml loading failed (flow_flash_chart_Rxxxxx).
What can be the reason? serverside or desktopside?

I reloaded iTunes 10 (64 bit) successfully, but the problem remains the same.
Any suggestions?I looked in the folder from which I want to synch photos, but there is no such thing as an "ipod photo cache" in that folder, or sub-folders, as suggested in the link which you were nice enough to provide.
I have also tried removing photos from my iPad2 Photos App, and "iTunes has stopped working" shows up again as soon as I click on the "Synch photos from" button.

Printing on A4 - printer prints as though paper is half the size
