Untrustworthy email purporting to be from apple

I have received an email saying 'Your account has been frozen temporarily in order to protect it.' My anti virus says the email is from un ansafe site. I've checked my itunes account and it is frozen. What should I do next?

Forward the email to [email protected] and then delete it. If you actually run into a problem on the iTunes Store, click here.

    Smells rather "phishy" to me.

  • SPAM email purporting to be from Apple

Just received one, asking me to update my online access info or else!
Does Apple want me to do anything with this other than delete it?

I find the Bounce featured to be quite effective.
What it's most effective for is sending spam to innocent people whose addresses have been forged as the 'From' address on the spam. Little spam actually uses a real return address - the idea is for you to click on links - so all you are doing is adding to the misery for people who have nothing to do with it. And the next time the same people spam you it's likely to be from a different 'From' address, so as to get round your filters.
Added to which if it does happen to be a real address it doesn't take very much sophistication at all to tell that the bounce is a fake. Anyone up to sending large amounts of spam is going to be able to do this - but in any case I doubt if any spammer would bother to remove a bounced address from a list of thousands.
Please don't bounce spam. I know it's a temptation, but please don't do it.

  • I received email purporting to be from Apple customer support about my account. Is this spam?

I have received emails about my account. I am suspicious. Are they spam?

I am not an expert on spam but I got the same email yesterday and today. It appears to be spam to me and when I am suspicious I never click on any links in the email. Just go to the apple website in your browser and sign in as usual and check but never click on any links in emails to be safe. I seriously doubt that Apple would send out emails showing multiple addresses which is why I think it is spam. That is my 2 cents worth.

  • Where do I report a phishing email claiming to be from apple?

Received a bogus email claiming to be from Apple. Is there a place to report it to?

You can forward it to Apple via this address : [email protected]

  • Has anyone else been receiving emails from their iTunes acc email to their same email claiming to be from Apple?

I just received an email from the account that I have my iTunes account with to that same account claiming to be from Apple Support.  I have attached a screencap to show email.

Yes, well it is still a spam/phising e-mail, so just delete it and check your iTunes e-mail account as it could have been hacked.  Go in and change the passwords associated with the account.
Any correspondence from iTunes or Apple directly should have your name on it and not Dear Apple Customer or iTunes Customer.  It's the same with the PayPal e-mails - they put Dear or Dear Customer without the name, which PayPal never do.
Delete it and then log into the e-mail account and change all the passwords to ensure that the account has not been hacked.

  • Email receipt not received from Apple Store.

Before Christmas, I bought a Macbook Pro from Apple Store in Chicago but have not received the receipt by email as promised.  I'm not in Chicago anymore so I can't go back to the store.  Can anyone suggest how to get a receipt?
    Thanks

Assuming you've checked any spam filters to make sure the email wasn't trapped, all I can suggest is for you to call them and ask for the receipt to be resent.
    Regards.

  • What if I got an email purchase receipt supposedly from Apple, but it looks like spam?

I got an email that seems to be a purchase receipt from the Apple Store for a computer in the amount of $2633.88 but the purchaser is not myself. Is there an email address I can forward this to in order to tell if its a legitimate purchase receipt from Apple or if its just a spam message created by a spammer?

Apple does offer to email receipts for in-store purchases.  I don't see why someone would spam you a fake receipt.  But, someone that might have been expecting it may not have (there could have been an error in entering the correct email address).  I would suggest you just give Apple a call.  They may have another way of contacting the buyer.

  • HT5622 How can I verify if an email is truly coming from Apple?

I'm receiving various emails which I think are not from Apple but they look like....the sender is: Apple@appleES_account.js.com and they ask to verify my account icloud because someone has tried to connect with another ip address... there is a link to a page in which I should insert my username, pwd, credit car number, etc..
Then I enter in icloud and I do not see anything strange, not alerts, nor invites to verify...
The look and feel of the email I'm receiving is quite strange...
How can I verify id Apple is really sending me the messages?
    Thanks,

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
    The email is not genuine.
DO NOT ENTER ANY DETAILS ANYWHERE in the page you have accessed.
Read this and delete the email.

  • Email as a download from apple

Ever since I got mobile me from apple when I go to logout if mail is running or not
The word mail shows up in blue lettering in the tool bar and I must force quit mail and then the unit will shut down
I have tried quitting mail before I logout and not quitting and I get The same result each time

All content from iTunes is tied to the account that downloaded it, so the id that shows when trying to download updates should be the account that 'owns' that app. Do you recognise the id that is showing e.g. has anybody else downloaded or synced content to your iPad ?

  • I cannot receive any rescue email of security question from apple.

    even in the spam folder
    How can I receive it.
I am sure that no wrong information is entered

The only other way to reset the questions would be to call Apple Support at 1-800- MY-APPLE and have the account security team look at your ID.  They will ask you for a temporary support pin and one other piece of secure information from the account, such as your current security questions, the credit card linked to the account, a device serial number, or a verification code that they can send to your devices.  The support pin can be gained by going to appleid.apple.com and using the Manage your Apple ID button to log in to your ID.  The button to generate it will be in the lower-right corner of the Passwords and Security section.  The support pin cannot be skipped, but the second piece of information for the verification can be whatever of the options they give works best for you.
Once they have the support pin and one other piece of information to confirm your identity, they can reset your security question without needing to send you an email.  Just sign out of appleid.apple.com while they send the reset, and when you sign back in the Passwords and Security section will change to ask you for new security questions and your birthdate.
    Good luck!

  • HT5622 I was always asked to verify my email. I requested from apple to resend a verification link to my email but I haven 't received any. Is there any other way I can do so I can download now some applications in my iphone?

I cannot download any applications because i was always asked to verify my apple id. I requested for a verification link to be resent in my email address but i did not receive any.

Contact Apple Support and ask for the account security team; they will have to do that for you

  • I received 2 emails supposingly from Apple requesting that I update my profile.  Could someone confirm this is a scam?  Thanks.

I received 2 emails supposingly from Apple asking me to update my profile because my account is blocked.
Evidently, this is a scam.  Did others receive the same request?

It's absoutely a scam, one which has been reported here a number of times. Do not respond to the email in anyway, just delete it.
