Unused Languages clogging my Mac

I just downloaded TuneUpMyMac as I was receiving your disk is full message.
Amongst a few other things, this is what it had to say!
Of the issues found "Unused Languages" had 1391 issues.
And a red bar.
Can anyone tell me how I can delete these manually...  I do not even know what they are.
When I went to "clean now" with TuneUpMyMac, I had to pay $40
Surely there's a simply/cheaper way of getting rid of all this?
Thanks

Get rid of that TuneUpMyMac,  Put it right in the trash:
"The Unused Languages function deletes language files on your Mac, thereby claiming additional disk space. Those files have no bearing on your Mac’s performance. And, again, other Mac apps do the same thing for free."

    Hi there saharalirezaie,
You may find the troubleshooting steps in the article below helpful.
Resolve specific iTunes update and restore errors

    Resolve communication issues
    Related errors: 17, 1004, 1013, 1638, 3014, 3194, 3000, 3002, 3004, 3013, 3014, 3015, 3194, or 3200. These alerts refer to gs.apple.com, say "There was a problem downloading the software," or say the "device isn't eligible for the requested build."
Check the hosts file or TCP/IP filtering, which might cause communication issues between iTunes, ports, and servers.

  • Remove unused languages from personalization

    Hi,
I've read some thread so far concerning "Personalization" and "how to remote unused languages" but most (all?) of them are now outdated.
Following links / notes are no longer applicable :
    - Note 1013521 - Configuration of supported languages within the portal
    - Note 624929 - How to limit the entries displayed in the language list
    - http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/49/e607426338da6fe10000000a1550b0/frameset.htm
Does anyone know how to remove unused languages from personalization screens in EP 7.0 SP14 and above ?
    Best Regards,
    Alexis

    Hi,
Please check your link, it's the same answer for 04 and 04s : outdated.
It seems that SAP made some changes since a few release.
Now it's a WebDynpro Page which manages the personalization for user preferences and there's a Webdynpro Java involved in the process : UmeEnduserPortalApp.
Does anyone has the possibility to read from the application source code what's the method used now to make the language list for the end user ?

  • Locating unused software on my Mac

Hi, is there any software that is able to locate unused software on my Mac to speed up performance?

"unused software" will slow down the Mac only if they are taking up so much space on the drive that the drive slows down. Do you know how much space is available on the drive?
That being said, you can use Omni Disk Sweeper to give you an inventory of the contents of the drive:

  • Changing language on new Mac Mini

    Hi all,
I have another thread in the "mini" forum but this may actually belong here:
I just ordered a new Mac Mini. Since I'm buying from the German Apple store, the Mini will come with the operating system in German. Naturally, it will also come with the grey install disks.
So, if I wanted to have the OS language to be English instead of German, would it be okay to unpack the Mini upon arrival, pop in the install disk, boot while pressing "C", wipe the drive, and install a fresh copy of the OS ?
Or do I have to boot out of the box, set up account etc., and THEN re-install ?
Thanks for taking time to read this !

How about my German keyboard ?
If you are using a non-Apple keyboard and have any problems with the mapping, just come back here and ask for further help.
    Thanks Tom !
I'm using an older Apple BT keyboard. It worked well with my old G4 Powerbook.
I expect it will not be usable with the Mini until paired, right ?
I was going to use a standard USB keyboard for PC just for setup and until the BT keyboard is paired ...

  • Java Localization: Application Menu Language Support. MAC OS X 10.4.10.

    I am running a Java 1.4+ application on a Mac OS X 10.4.10 Intel.
If I change the locale of the system to English, French or German, and I start my application, I can see the Application Menu translated properly. (I am referring to About/Preferences/Hide/Hide others/Quit).
Any other locale I am using(Italian, Spanish, Portuguese and so on) the application menu is not translated in that language.
Furthermore, by looking in the System Preferences/International/Languages the menu of my application is displayed in the either English, German or French depending of which one is before the other two. To give you two examples:
    Sample one:
    Italian
    Portuguese
    German
    French
my menu will be seen in German.
    Sample two:
    Italian
    Portuguese
    English
    German
    French
my menu will be seen in English.
I don't use any <language>.lproj folder in my bundle.
By searching on the internet I found the following article that talks about similar issue:
    http://lists.apple.com/archives/Java-dev/2004/Sep/msg00200.html
I was looking also in /System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Versions/1.4.2/Resources and I could only see English, French and German .lproj folders. I've created a similar Italian.lproj folder. It still didn't show my application menu in Italian language.
I am wondering if anyone of you had such an issue and how did you solve it.
    Cheers,
    Bogdan

Thank you for your suggestions; maybe I solved your and my "problem".
I tried to translate and make a package.
I tried it on my Mac and now the menu is in my language (Italian).
If you want, I can send this package.
If you can help me, we can write a guide and publish it in a site.

  • Unused RAM filling up Mac Pro OS 10.9.2

I have a 2009 Mac Pro running OS 10.9.2.  It has 8 processores and 24 GB of RAM.  Throughout the past couple of weeks, I have been seeing the unused RAM get filled up (I use a program to monitor my RAM usage and the white 'free' area starts to progressively turn gray).  The machine then become unresponsive and sluggish.  I use the Terminal to purge it and all is well for a while.  I need assistance to figure out what is causing it and how to fix it.
Please instruct me on which report would be beneficial for a diagnostic and how to bring up said report.  Any input will be greatly appreciated.  Thanks in advance.

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
The title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen.
Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then try the action that you're having trouble with again. Select any messages that appear in the Console window. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.
☞ The log contains a vast amount of information, almost all of which is irrelevant to solving any particular problem. When posting a log extract, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.

Please don't post screenshots of log messages—post the text.

  • Changing language in Mini Mac OS X 10.9.2

I try to figure out how to change the language from English to Polish, so I can write in Polish language in Microsoft Word. So far I figure out how to change whole computer to Polish language, but still cannot write in Polish language, and cannot spell checking. Maybe one of you know how to do it?

I understand how that may be the case for you.  But the billions of people who live in the countries where these languages are spoken will of course normally want to use the different keyboards they are accustomed to, and it is very easy to do that on any Mac.
Mac also has a Polish dictionary, which you can find in system prefs/keyboard/text/spelling, but MS Word prefers to use its own (which is probably better).
Like I said, it is useful to know that the Word spellchecker alone will let you type good Polish.

OS X already comes with Arabic and tons of other languages. Your problem is that the standard Adobe for Mac doesn't support this script. You need to get the special ME version of those apps (or use another app). See the Applications section of this note:
