Unused Map ID Report

Hi,
I'm assigning map ID's to a relatively large project, and was
wondering if there is a way to report which topics do not yet have
an ID assigned. I know that in RH9, this was accessible via
Tools/Reports, but in X5, whilst I can find a report on which
topics *do* have ID's assigned, there doesn't seem to be a way to
find those that don't...

This may not provide the solution you want but it does answer
your query. If you run the Topic Properties report from the Tools
menu with all the options turned off except the mapid one you'll
get a list of ALL the topics and the mapids against them. The
topics that don't have a mapid against them are the ones that you
want to identify. You can always save the report to a file and
delete the topics that have a mapid to leave you with a list that
you need to change. Hope this helps.

  • Remove an unused map ID - Does Not Work, Documentation Innacurate

I am using TCS 3.5 on Windows XP Pro. We're linking FM books to RH for online help output. I'm listing this in the FM Integration section for that reason, but this seems like it could possibly be a standalone RH problem, too.
I've been creating map files in RH and everything was going well until I tried cleaning out the unused map IDs. The topic alias markers I create in FM work well and do port over. However, if I edit the marker in FM and update the linked files in RH, the new marker shows up in the map file -- but so do all of the old ones.
I thought that wouldn't be a problem when I found the "Remove an unused Map ID" function under the "Project Set-Up/Map Files." It seemed like it magically worked once and now not at all.
I have tried every variation you can imagine with the process. I both edited and deleted the markers in FM, but I still cannot clean them out with this function. I also found that the map file must be "unlocked" and verified that in the properties setting, as well.
Part of what I find strange is that the documentation for this function does not match up with I see in RH9. Maybe this is documentation for an older version of RH (see below)
At any rate, this is a huge problem, because I cannot have the map files littered with unusued map IDs, nor is it realistic to do this work manually, especially given the size of our books.
    Remove an unused map ID
Your map files must be unlocked to use this option. To remove unused map IDs:
Expand the Context-Sensitive Help folder in the Project Set-up pod.
    Right-click the Map Files folder.
    Select Edit.
    Do the following:
    Map Files
Select the map files from which to remove unused map IDs.
    Select All
Click to remove unused map IDs from all map files.
    Clear All
Click to deselect all map files and not remove unused map IDs

Alright, maybe it isn't that bad if you substitute the correct text we discovered. But I think this also reveals another shortcoming with the management of those map files, which is once you open the "Edit Map IDs" dialogue box, you should be able to batch manage the entries in the same way. Ultimately, the "Remove Unused IDs should just work, but being able to select all the Map ID entries and delete them would be an acceptable workaround and/or a nice piece of enhanced functionality.
When I tried deleting the Notepad entries, I left RH open. But I just now tried the method you suggested, closing it out and opening it again. This actually did not work and caused more problems. From that point, every time I tried to force an update, it would only pull over a single topic alias and nothing I did would restore the other original topic aliases from the FM files. This method seems to cause the integration to wig out.
From there, I had to painfully create a new project and re-link the FM files, apply .isf settings, etc. That worked, but who wants to do that every time, not to mention the versioning management nightmare it will create, especially in an environment with multiple writers.
After I got the files linked again, I determined that the best method seems to be deleting all the Map ID entries manually. That seems to clear out the Notepad file correctly and not cause any confusion for RH.
I can understand why you opted for being a "FM import guy." This linking of FM>RH is fraught with lots of headaches and oftentimes application bugginess. In this case, I think I'm adhering to the philosophy of doing all the work in FM, but since the "Remove Unused IDs" functionality doesn't work in RH, there is little to do but touch things in RH with a workaround.

  • Navigation from UI map to Report Submission page using Script.

    Hi All,
I have a requirement such that I need to pass the parameters from a UI Map to a report submission page. In such a case I’m able to pass single parameter but whenever I pass two parameters then second one overrides the first one. This leads to a problem when parameters are more than one. So is there is any way to resolve this issue I’m doing parameter passing using a BPA script.
    OR
If there is a way by which I can submit a report by using a UI Map. Whenever an OK button is pressed on UI Map then automatically report submission happens with the parameter defined on UI Map. And BI publisher comes up with the report as a reporting tool.
If anyone of this works it will be fine.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Tim,
I asked R&D about this, and they suggested you add the following command to your script before the VIEW==>REPORT transfer command:
    Call WndShow("VIEW")
They said that showing the VIEW panel prior to exporting the map to REPORT makes a difference in the resulting image sent to REPORT.

  • Visio layout integrated with Maps on Reporting Service

    Hi there,
We have an idea at my office to develop an office map to assist the employees with finding meeting rooms as well as where other people sit around the office.
Is it possible to office develop layouts using Visio and then exporting these office layouts to SSRS?
If this is possible we would want to develop parameterized reports on SSRS that the users can specify their filters and the office layout is displayed using the map controls.
If you know any helpful links can you please assist me.
    Regards
    Tibz
    regards Tibz

    Hi TibzLebese,
Per my understanding you want to create and map to map the office layout, such as the meeting rooms location and people sit, right?
In fact, the SSRS 2008 R2 and later version have the function to create an map. There are three ways to create a new map layer. Maps are based on spatial data that typically consists of points, lines, and polygons. For example, a polygon can represent
the outline of a county, a line can represent a road, and a point can represent the location of a city. Each type of spatial data is displayed on a separate map layer as a set of map elements.
In your scenario, your data should be point coordinates, so I suggest to add the map point layer to display the location of the meeting rooms and the people sit.
Before to add the map point layer to display the location, we should correctly create the SQL Server spatial query which contains Spatial data, spatial data include coordinates that define geographic or geometric elements.
Article about  details information about the creation of the map for your reference:

  • Is your old iOS 5's Google Maps' traffic reports working?

    Hi!
For some reason, it is not working today. Google Maps show up, but not its traffic reports for Los Angeles/L.A. There is that spinning loading on the top menu bar that goes forever. I checked my computer's web browser (Mozilla's SeaMonkey v2.12.1) with Google Maps' traffic reports, and had no problems. Is there a problem with iPhone's Google Maps' traffic reports or just me?
    Thank you in advance.

I can't answer if it is JUST you, but traffic is working normally in NJ on iOS 5.x Google Maps.

  • Unused Objects Content Report runs forever

    Dear Portal Gurus
we have a lot of content in our portal (thousands of objects created by us)
The main part is from uploading the ERP Roles into the portal.
Our guess is, that quite a bit is not used at all.
It seems that the two "Unused Objects" reports in the support platform are a good starting point for cleaning up.
When i run the Unused Objects - not assigned to Roles report on one server node, it takes forever (is running more than 24 hours)
Does anybody else have this problem too?
Is there a way to get a result anyway?
I ran the Broken Delta Links Detector before, which runs successfully - even though not very fast. So these reports run in general.
We have NW 7.0 SPS 14.
Thanks in advance for your help and best Regards
    Martin

    Hello Michael
    Thank you for your reply.
Personalization is mainly disabled in our portal.
In general the deltalinks were used correctly i think.
Of course broken delatalinks should not exist, but they get created by deleting objects not by creating deltalinks.
I'll try it with a call.
    Kind Regards
    Martin

  • R3 to BW InfoObject Mapping - in report form

I have had several requests by my users for a Bex report that gives them the R3 to BW InfoObject mapping of the InfoObjects they see in the Cubes and ODS's they report from.  I am familiar with the R3 table RODCHA and the BW tables RSOSFIELDMAP, RSDIOBJ, RSOSFIELDMAP and RSTSFIELD and know that this data is contained in these various tables.   Has anyone come up with a way to pull from these tables and give their users the R3 to BW InfoObject mapping via a simple BEX report/jump query?
    Dave

Thank you Sudheer, your answer was very helpful.   The problem is a little more complex than I stated.   These tables (RSTSFIELD specifically) relate the R3 field name with BW InfoObject name to the Transfer Structure name which is usually nothing like the Cube or ODS name.   The user would have to know the Transfer Structure name related to their Cube/ODS to get the information they need in the Bex report.  I was hoping that someone might have a little more information on what other metadata table(s) I would need to join with these tables to get to the Cube/ODS name that is ultimately needed by the user.  This additional information would be very helpful.

  • Database structure changed. Mapping Crystal reports to new datasource

There are several crystal reports that need to be remapped to a new database we have in place. The data structure has quite changed. I started using the 'Set datasource Location' option to map the new database fields to existing fields in the report. The problem shows up when trying to map fields from multiple tables to existing fields in the report from a single table. To elaborate, the old database structure has only one table used for a report and the new database structure has these same fileds coming from two different tables. The 'Set datasource Location'  option is leting me map the existing table used in the report to only one report. Is this how this functionality works or am I missing something. Please advise the best way to do this mapping.
    VJ

    hi VJ,
when you're dealing with reports where the data source can change along with the number of tables or the table names or the field names etc. then this is a method that you can design with to avoid issues associated with datasource changes.
you can also change existing reports to use this formula only method but of course there's a bit of work involved in changing reports vs. designing them like this from the ground up.

  • Map error reporting

I've come across a few errors with things like lane assist showing the wrong road layout, or a case of the navigation seemed to see a roundabout as a normal road, so the voice told me to turn left when in fact I needed to go round the roundabout.
How can I report this? The feedback options from within the mobile map software don't cover these scenarios, & in any case it's too difficult to use.

  • LCM can not map Crystal Report connection properly

    Hi,
We are using LCM to transport Crystal Report files from Devlopment server to Quality. The transports are successful, we can also see that connections (to source) also has been changed properly.
These Crystal Reports have 3 parameters. Our requirement is to refresh the report with two parameters having no value (it will produce record for all values). And it works fine in our development system.
But it is not refreshing and scheduling fails also. Error message is 'Information is needed before this report can be processed'. But if I put some value to all 3 parameters, then it refreshes properly.
But I need the report to be refreshed with one parameter vale (other will remain empty) as it works in deveopment system.
Can you please help me out?
    Regards,
    Avijit

    Hello  Dutta,
if you keep the parameters blank why not removing them ?
But thats rights, this should be a setting in your CR instead something with LCM.

    thats odd
i just went to maps (im on 1.1.3) typed part of the name of one of my contacts it showed me a match - i clicked it and it mappped it fine
i then went to contacts- picked one - clicked on an address - and again it mapped it fine
just like it did when i was on 1.1.2

  • HT5429 Has anyone reported a problem on iOS 6 Maps and had it fixed?

Within iOS 6 maps, I reported that searching for Holland Park underground station in London yields two locations for the station (one of them being wrong). It has been over three weeks and the issue has not been corrected.

I have seen several things in my city (Portland, Oregon) corrected. However I would sometimes see them correct on the maps app in my iPad days before the correction showed up on my iPhone — or vice versa.
Not saying that they have fixed it (and I just checked from this side of the world and they haven't...) but once they do it could be awhile before you find out.
I think there is some serious caching issues they need to work out as updates roll out.

  • Embedding MAP type in a report.

Let me preface the question by stating that I am a new DIAdem user. The MAP display object in the 'VIEW' mode is really useful to me. I would like to embed include the MAP a report I am generating from my data. How do you create a MAP object in a report?

    Hello allaboutjeeps,
The easiest Way to achieve this is to build the layout in VIEW including the MAP object, and then selecting the "Transfer to Report" icon in the toolbar
The result in REPORT will look like this:

    Hi all,
I have been asked to map for reporting purposes all the fields in the HRMS person and assignment forms, plus vacany requisition and absence.
For example, on the people form in HRMS the "last Name" field would translate into sql as "per_people_F.last_name".
I have found all the person/assignment/absence and vacancy fields but cannot find any of the following:
    Bank account/ pay method information.
Salary previous/ salary proposal form information
Anything from the element entries screen or the tax information fields.
Anyone have any ideas which tables would hold this information for querying using developer or toad??
