'Unusual activity' detected every day?
I'm having something of a problem with my email. I keep getting emails from Yahoo's mailer daemon telling me about failed emails that I didn't send. I have eliminated all possibility of this being down to having some kind of trojan or other malware on my PC, so this means that either BT/Yahoo's system is getting hacked further up the line or (more likely) my email is being spoofed. However, this would only be slightly irritating and solved by simply deleting the emails (there's never more than about a dozen) except for one thing - BT/Yahoo's system seems to be detecting these emails as 'unusual activity' and forcing me to change my password at least once a day, sometimes more. Given that I've gone through several different passwords, all of which haven't made the blindest bit of difference to this 'unusual activity', and there appears to be nothing I can do to fix this, is there any way I can bypass this prompt to change my password?

Hi.
Your post seems to confirm my suspicion that Critical Path (the new mail provider for BTinternet) might be causing the problem about the need for password changes.
As you correctly say, the bounce messages are due to your email address being spoofed/forged in a spam run. There is nothing you can do to prevent this.
I feel that the moderators need to question Critical Path about their methods in this regard.

I have CS2 and I use it almost every day.. Today when I tried to launch it, a prompt came up saying my Activation was no longer valid and it closed automatically. Then when I tried to re-open it, a prompt came up saying "A serious error has occured" Please re-install the software... I have no idea where my software is... That was many many years ago? HELP!!
When you go to the download page, you must do two things:
Download this file: PhSp_CS2_English.exe on the download page.
Use the serial number on the download page in order to install your non-activation copy.
Do not use your old CD or serial number. It no longer works.
If you have Windows 7, the advice is to turn off UAC and run the installer as Administrator.

Bridge will not now let me use camera raw, though I have been using it every day. It ways that "the parent application is not active. Bridge requires that a qualifiying product has been launched at least once to enable this feature." What am I to do?
Usually this points to having some kind of earlier trial version still installed on your system. However without more details you are not likely to find an answer. Try this for a start:

"We've detected some unusual activity on your emai...
Hi there, I've just tried to log into webmail and was greeted with the following - "We've detected some unusual activity on your email account, and we think it may be compromised. As a precautionary measure, please follow the steps below to ensure your account is secure. "
I've tried telephoning support to no avail, I was banging my head against a brick wall. Does anyone know what may be the cause of this, or what the unusual activity might refer to?
I run a Mac at home so there's not much chance of a virus.
Any help would be appreciated.Just had this for the first time in ages on a secondary account.
Did the usual routine, checking for foreign logins
https://login.yahoo.com/config/login?.intl=us&.src=ymbr&.partner=&.pd=&.done=https%3A%2F%2Fapi.login...
and surprise surprise there were none. Then opened Thunderbird which dowloaded mails ok, rechecked webmail and all was back to normal.
So I reckon it was just another false alarm. It's a pity that BT have STILL not resolved these email problems. I got so fed up with these false random email-security-compromised warnings that I just gave up. Sometimes I would just change the p/w to get rid of the message, then switch back again.
This chronic problem means that customers' guarding against a REAL wolf attack is lowered. -
Tired of activating my photoshop cs6 every day
Tired of activating my photoshop cs6 every day for the last year and calling, and uninstalling and reinstalling.
wondered if I could have been sold a trial version. I paid around $700.
They probably mean a "beta". The resounding answer would be no. That sounds like grasping at straws in the absence of another more likely explanation.
For the record, Adobe trial versions (meaning they expire 30 days after first launch if no serial number is entered) are identical in every respect to the paid-for version.
Re: your issue - are you saying that every single time you launch Photoshop CS6, you are faced with the Activation screen?
Have you installed the 13.0.1.1 updater? May help or it may be irrelevant.

I have to restart iTunes every day to access my home sharing on my Apple tv
I have to restart iTunes every day to access my home sharing on my Apple tv, Apple had me turn off the firewall on my computer that did not help This happens on all my 4 Apple TV's only 2 are wireless but it mainly happens on my wired Apple TV's. the rest of my network works fine
Exact same problem since a long time. Started after an ITune upgrade 6 months ago if I remember correctly.
Im using Home Sharing. I have IPad,IPhone and 2 Apple TV one 2nd (Wifi) and one 3rd gen. Wifi provided by Apple Express. Home sharing work great on all device without interupting playback and/or disconnecting until I leave iTune server hosting Home Sharing idle for something like 2 hours. I have tried many time to access Home Sharing from any of my Apple device before that said 2 hours idle and it connected properly. Like you, it mostly happen overnight while iTune is idle for a long period. When it happen, all devices stop detecting ITune Home Sharing. Remote Apps and/or Music Home Sharing can't connect. Doing of one of the points down below temporarly fix problem on all devise and they connect right away until everything is idle again.
1) Turning OFF then ON Home sharing temporarely fix the problem (Until next idle).
2) Closing Itune also temporarely fix the problem.
Since long time (Before this problem started) I have ITune installed in a VMware virtual machine running Windows XP SP3 32bit on top of an VMware ESXi 5.0 host. First I though it was more of my unusual setup causing the problem. I have tried a lot of things. Scratch reinstall, removing firewall, removing all kind of power features on host and OS it self.No anti-virus, no other software installed. Running out of idea. Now glad to see some else have the exact same problem.
Will keep looking and post if I find anything.
What is your setup hosting iTune ? PC, Mac + version ? -
Mac Pro turns itself on every day at the same time
My Mac Pro suddenly decided to start turning itself on every day at 6:00:12pm local time (12:00:12AM GMT). It turns on at exactly 12 seconds after 6:00pm every day.
I recently upgraded to OSX 10.5 and installed the point update. It did it before the point update and continues to after the point update.
I have had it since April and it has never done this before. It did NOT do this under 10.4.
I have the options in system settings to NOT wake on LAN event and NOT restart after power failure. It is NOT set to automatically turn on but it is set to automatically turn itself off at 1:00am.
These settings have not changed since 10.4 and I have verified them. No other software has recently been installed since the update to 10.5. I did update the Wacom driver to the new Leopard driver. That is all. I have the Wacom tablet unplugged from the computer.
Any ideas?
Here is the console log from yesterday. It pretty much looks the same every day.

The "combo" update will update 10.x.anything to the latest 10.x.y, it'll update any Mac model, and in this case it appears they contain full files instead of patches. The delta updater for 10.5.1 is about 39 MB; the combo updater is about 110 MB. You can download the combo updater from the Support site. Sites such as www.macfixit.com often recommend installing the combo updater instead of, or after, the delta updater, as it often solves mysterious problems. One specific example is the numerous "SUID" messages when doing a "repair permissions" - the combo update gets rid of all but one, and that one is specifically stated by Apple to be okay. Of course, no guarantees, but the combo updater is a reasonable thing to try.

Dot is shown every day in month view, even with no events
Hi All,
With the latest iTunes update, my outlook calendar sync finally works, however, it has now decided to put a dot on every day in the month view, even on days I have no events. Outlook is still fine, so it does not appear that there is a corrupt event or anything.
Has anyone else seen this and found a fix?
Thanks in advanceHere is the fix that worked for me. I hope it helps you out.
Busy dots on every day of the month?
The iPhone calendar month view shows a dot on every day you have an event scheduled. This allows you to know, at a glance, any "free" days you have with no appointment scheduled. There seems to be a bug with some type of all-day recurring events in Outlook that sync over improperly to the iPhone. This causes the iPhone to become "confused", and show the "busy dot" on every day of the month, whether the day has an event in it or not.
In order to correct this problem, you will need to find the all-day recurring event or events (could be more than one) that are causing this. Without a search function, it takes a little bit of detective work, but it can be done.
1. Browse backwards on your calendar until you find the first day of the month with no "busy dot" in it. This will help you identify when the problem started.
2. Next, find the first instance of the problem - that is, find the first empty day that shows a "busy dot".
3. Once you find that empty day, look at the days before to find an all-day recurring event (other types of events may cause this bug, but I only experienced it with all-day recurring events, such as birthdays, anniversaries, etc.)
4. Edit the event - the start and end dates of the event should be, by definition, the same day. The bug apparently causes the event to sync over with the end date a day before the start date. This creates a situation that the iPhone calendar cannot handle properly, causing the dots to appear on every day from that point on forward. Fix the end date to be the same as the start date.
5. This should fix the problem, at least until the next all-day recurring event. In my case, I had seven events I had to fix. Every time I fixed one, the empty days on the calendar would no longer show a "busy dot", but as I browsed forward, the problem appeared again. I noticed it appeared right after one of these faulty all-day recurring events. When I fixed the event, the days from that day on forward would correct themselves until the next faulty all-day recurring event. Once all seven all-day recurring events were fixed, the "busy dot" no longer appeared on any empty days. -
BBC1 Goes black at the same time every day
Hello,
Im a big fan of detective shows and I like to watch Diagnosis Murder on BBC1 at 2:15pm every day but the problem is as soon as the show starts the screen goes completely black and even BBC2 goes black I can still hear sound in the background on both channels though. The only way to get the picture back is for me to navigate to ITV1 and then back to BBC1 and the picture comes back perfectly fine.
The very odd thing is that this happens EVERY day at 2:15pm at the exact moment Diagnosis Murder starts. Ive tried resetting my vision box and leaving it off for a few hours but it keeps doing it.
Could this be a problem with BBC or a glitch in the broadcast signal thats making my box go loopy at 2:15pm every day?
Anyone else had this?. Try it this afternoonI've noticed this too!! Thought I was going mad, exactly the same problem on the same show. WEIRD!! I've only found one solution, same as you, to switch to another channel and back again seems to solve it.

Macbook slows down at the same time every day.
I know this makes me sound crazy, but my Macbook (running Mac OS X) starts to get inexplicably sluggish at the same time every day – roughly between 4:30 and 5 p.m. Applications start temporarily freezing up and I get that beachball-looking thing, and I have to force quit applications because they won't quit normally. I have McAffee virus protection through my school and a full scan reveals nothing. I also have the latest security updates.
The applications I run on a given day are pretty typical: Chrome, Acrobat, Dropbox, Twitter desktop and Word. I never download any unauthorized software or shady files. No idea what it could be, but it is not just in my head. Any educated guesses? Is the McAffee anti virus set to scan automaticaly around 4:30 -5:00?
.....you might want to open Activity Monitor and check what apps are running and check their CPU usage.......sounds like something is running in the background..... -
Calendar has marked every day in monthly view
Hello,
I'm using my (German) 3G with Exchange Active Sync. It works fine except for one problem. The monthly calendar marks a event for every day with the small rectangle. This makes it of course difficult, to identify a day where a event exist.
Any idea, how to solve this?

WRT54G-Need to reconnect every day / firmware question
So each day my router stops connecting to the internet. I go through the same troubleshooting wizard, and each time all I do is unplug and plug back in the router as per it's directions. While this works, I don't want to do it every day. I'm trying to download the firmware for it, but I guess I'm not used to downloading firmware for things because the download is trying to run on a flash player on my computer >. I thought they were supposed to be executables? T.I.A. all.
Well, I updated the firmware, but still it has reset again today. The usual message I get when I open Easylink Advisor is "Different Network Detected". It can't connect to the internet, and I need to setup my network again, detecting my router, entering Network Name and unplugging the power so it will find it again. This computer doesn't connect to it wirelessly, it's a direct connection, and none of the cords and cables are ever touched, all of them are always plugged in. Nothing is being done wrong, it connects fine until one point during the day then it just stops and I need to go through the setup again. Anybody recognize the problem? Thanks.

Database auto restart at 2:00 AM every day
Hi,
I've installed 10.2.0.2.0 database in Windows 2000 Server.
Now it restarts automatically at 2:00 AM every day.
I've checked OS, there is no JOB run at 2:00 AM, and event viewer look normal at 2:00 AM.
When it restarts, sometimes it would restart successfully, sometimes it wouldn't(mounted, not open).
Here is the alert log.

Does anyone know how to get rid of these "endless" reports? Btw. My MacBook Air doesn't have this same problem.Thank you for the imformation. Since I am no programer, you might give me further info: if I delete the fine with the CalendarInterval-entry Plist Edit pro complains about a kryptic line. Now: what might be the correct text and line(s) to delete? Before edit the text looks like this:

Time Machine Backs Up 30-39G every day ??? Using too much Space on the TC
I installed the TC about 2 weeks ago. The first backup went as plan and took all night. But the problem (I think) is that incremental backups take place during the day but every day at the end of the day the TM does a 30 to 39G backup and is using up all the space on the TC. I am sure I am not adding 30 something G every day. Can someone tell me how to setup the TM to not use all the space. I got the TC 500G 2 weeks ago and is down to 219G of free space. I think that is not right.
Please help
ThanksThat should do it. Time Machine will backup an active VM each hour if there are changes (i.e. VM is running). That amounts to 2GB+ per hour depending on the size of your VM.
To recovery that space, you need to delete the file (and all versions) from the backup. Open Finder and go to your VM folder. Click on the Time Machine icon on the Dock. Click on that file and click the Gears button. You will be given the option of +Delete All Backups of -----+. All instances of this file will be delete from TM.
To backup your VM, occasionally drag and drop the VM folder to a folder on your backup drive. TM will not touch this.
For Fusion user, go to settings and set up a shared folder outside of the VM. Fusion will then access and save to this folder. Corruption of the VM will not affect these documents. As well, TM will back up this folder as long as you have not excluded it.
Good luck!
