Unusual error syncing Sony Ericsson W810i :0

Hi all,
I am trying to sync my mac (Powerbook G4) with a Sony Ericsson w810i. My iSync version is up to date. In the iSync menu where you can select to sync contacts and calendar, I am not able to select iCal. Whenever I select to sync iCal events, i immediatedly get a popup saying "You should select an application that can be syncronized using Mac OS X. Would you like to open iCal now ??" whether I open or not the iCal sync option is automatically unselected - and hence i do not get the events to my phone.
Any responses will be appreciated.

  • Sony Ericsson W810i

    Hi
Are there any plans to include the new Sony Ericsson, the W810i, in the isync phones list?
I've just bought one and am very happy with it. It comes with a USB cable which when plugged in, charges the phone, pops up iphoto and let's you import photos directly, like any other camera and let's you drag mp3s on to it like any non apple mp3 player. You can drag mp3s directly from itunes but it limits the number of songs you can copy across in one go to about 20. This is easy to get around by either dragging from the folders directly or by dragging your songs from itunes to a temp folder and then into the phone memory card (512mb card, upgradeable and 22 mb on board), you may want to do this if copying the party shuffle or a playlist.
Anyway, back to isync, if it's going to be included soon that would be great, rounding off a great inter manufacturer combo...

The Mac OS X 10.4.7 Update will ship soon, bringing incremental improvements to iSync, and will likely include support for additional mobile handsets, including—possibly—the SONY Ericsson W810i. That's about as much as I can say about unreleased, unannounced software.
If you are interested in an immediate solution, or future updates don't include support for your mobile handset, you can take a look at this low cost alternative from Nova Media:

  • Sony Ericsson W810i/300i

I read some of the threads from last year about the Sony Ericsson W810i. I'd like to wait for the iPhone, but I need a new phone now. Are people having good luck syncing this phone? Also, unrelated to syncing, is the call quality & reception as good as the reviews I've been reading say it is? Any input of any kind about this phone would be greatly appreciated. I was also considering the Sony Ericsson 300i, but reviews say the camera is terrible. I don't really care about a camera because I have a very nice Canon digital, but if the phone must have a camera, I want it to take usable photos.

I've just this week got a W810i (since the iPhone won't be here until at least Q4). The Syncing with iSync works just fine and I'm very happy with the device as a phone. I've just taken a photo as I sit here as an example (having transferred it via BT) - not great; I shall be carrying my 7.2Mpx Casio when I need to take photos!
I can't get the send SMS via AddressBook feature to work yet though (it does on my older Ericsson T68 so I'm not sure what's wrong). I got mine for free on a £18pm for 12mth contract with 512Mb MSDuo included.
The bundled headphones are excellent and it plays .aac files (not the DRM ones); the FM radio works really well; it's small, light and feels a lot more robust than the T-Mobile MDAC it is replacing. I dislike the font used in the interface, but the images are very iLife-esque. Most of the custom 'Themes' on the web are unusable (this is probably because I'm used to beautiful cared-for UIs in OS X). You can transfer any files to the MSDuo card or the phone memory using Apple's BT File Exchange. If you connect it with the bundled USB cable it'll charge the phone and mount both the phone memory and the MSDuo card direct to the desktop.

  • Sony Ericsson W810i and iSync 2.4: "can not connect to this device"

I am using Mac OS 10.4.11 and iSync 2.4, which I believe are the most up to date versions. My Sony Ericsson W810i is shown as being compatible with iSync as shown on the iSync support page, but while I try to add the phone to it I get the message:
    "W810i
iSync can not connect to this device".
Does anybody have any ideas how to sort this problem? I've tried restarting both my computer and phone before trying again.

I finally figured out how to fix this problem. The mobile phone had to be initially added by the computer under Bluetooth to pair them before adding the device to iSync. Adding the computer as a device to the phone to pair them, as I had been doing, didn't allow it to work with iSync.

  • Sony ericsson W810i connection problem with macbook

I have a Sony Ericsson W810i, and I want to transfer some photo's from the phone to my macbook. I can get the bluetooth to link with the phone for tranfer, but I'm having problems when I try to use the USB cable. When I connect the USB cable, the phone recognizes the connection, and warns not to disconnect from the cable untill...etc. however, I never get an Icon on the computer recognizing the phone. in short, The mac never sees the phone. any ideas???

I don't believe Macs are cell phone compatible without some 3rd party hack or application. You might do a Google search for your phone model and Mac.

  • My Pearl 9105 cannot receive contacts via bluetooth from my Sony Ericsson w810i

Hi everybody! I just bought a Pearl 3G 9105 and I love it! But I cannot transfer my contacts from my old phone! I read all type of guide but cannot solve the problem! I got version 5.0.0.884! Instead I can send my Pearl's contact to my old phone! That's strange, isn't it? I really followed every single step on the guide!
Waiting for an answer! Thank you so much!

    Hi michelefnc
This feature is not available.  You may want to consult your wireless provider as they may have a method to move your contacts over.
    Thanks

  • What about Sony Ericsson Walkman phones?

I've found three Mac OS X-native methods for using a Sony Ericsson phone with iTunes. Can anyone comment on their experiences with these?
    1) SyncTunes:
    http://www.nesfield.co.uk/synctunes/
    2) iTuneMyWalkman (a beta-level iTunes script):
    http://ilari.scheinin.fidisk.fi/itunemywalkman/
    3) Dreamsicle, an iLife-like shareware app that integrates these phones with iTunes, iPhoto, and video clips:
    http://www.kaisakura.com/dreamsicle.html
Before I hear comments along the lines of "give up and buy a Motorola iTunes phone," let me state the following, which are my experience-derived OPINIONS:
    · I dislike the fact that everyone and their mother has a RAZR (or SLVR, to a bit lesser extent).
    · I greatly dislike Motorola phones for their mentally-challenged interfaces, dumbed-down Bluetooth implementation, and weak iSync/Address Book integration.
    · I more greatly dislike having artificial limits placed on the number (25-100 depending on market and irrespective of memory capacity) and bitrate (128 kbps? why?!?) of the songs I put on my phone.

I would like to exhange my new SLVR for a Sony Ericsson W810i for some of the same reasons you stated: clumbsy UI, weak iSync integration, and song limit.
As long as you can mount the Sony Ericsson's Micro SD memory card on your Mac OS X Desktop via USB, you should be able to use any of the three iTunes options you mentioned, for transfering and listening to non-DRM iTunes files.
I'm hearing conflicting reports. Can anyone please confirm that the Micro SD card mounts via USB and is writable in OS X??
    Thanks.

  • Sony Ericsson W801i question.

Hello, not quite sure if I'm placing this in the correct disscussion or not, so I'll place it in iTunes here aswell.
I recently purchased a Sony Ericsson W801i phone, and am wondering if theres a way that I can place music from a Mac on there? I've used iSync to place my contacts on there but yeah. Any help would be greatly appreciated !

Presumably you mean a Sony Ericsson W810i?
There are two ways to get music onto the phone.
    1) Send the music files via Bluetooth using the Bluetooth File Exchange app.
    2) Copy the files over in the Finder after connecting the phone with a USB cable in "File Transfer" mode.
Note protected tracks purchased from the iTunes Store will not play on the phone, but MP3s and AAC files you've 'ripped' yourself will.

  • New isync 2.2 won't synce with sony ericsson S700i on 10.4.6

Like everyone else I was happily running iSync with 10.4.5 worked perfect now after updating to 10.4.6 I get the same as with everyone else. I did all the blah blah Apple 2.2 Sync details to the letter from their site. Sync gets most of the way and the phone spews back the " can't do this cos of error in phone???".....we are all feeling the pain I think. So tell me Apple? Did you try it on a Sony Ericsson before give it to us???....Man talk about a pain.
You should have left it alone? So do I get to send you a bill for my lost time? I charge $200 per hour as a design consultant and you and your great update has cost me an $200 in lost time....would have rather spent it on itunes at least that way I get something for my money instead of a frustrating experience. For God's sake test before you stuff everyones frustration!
    G5 POWERMAC   Mac OS X (10.4.5)

The S700i uses the same phone firmware software as the K700 and K750. We are discussing this problem over here: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=429497&tstart=0
I have a S700i as well and right now, I decided to sync it with my Powerbook running OS X 10.4.5 until a solution is posted.
10.4.6 feels a bit rushed to be honest See you in the other thread!

  • Sony ericsson has sudenly stoped syncing

I have a sony ericsson k700i mobile phone. isync was working well with my mobile, until i updated to OSX 10.4.6 now my phone now no longer syncs with the computer and gives me this message.
    "Saturday, 22 April 2006 16:56
[Richisace] There was an error getting data from the phone. The synchronization may have been cancelled on the phone.
    Device "Richisace" synchronization failed"
I have not cancelled the synchronization the phone says,
    "session failed communication interrupted"
I have tried restarting the computer, switching the phone off and on, deleting the phone from isync and putting it back on none of these things helped. I checked your web site but can't find any info on why this might be happening. Please help as I come to rely on syncing to organize my life.

This is a known problem with iSync 2.2 and has been
the subject of a number of threads on here already.
    A possible solution is here:
    http://mobile.feisar.com/k700isync22hack.html
BE WARNED, that this is a hack, and requires direct
editing of files within the iSync application. DO NOT
attempt this hack if you are not at all competent in
doing so. It is very possible to break iSync if you
    are not careful.
If you decide to proceed, make sure you do adequate
backups before starting. Then read ALL the
instructions VERY carefully and fully a couple of
    times before going ahead.
Thank you for the information I tryed fixing as the web sight said but could not get my phone 2 sync still. Please let me know if you hear of another way to sort this out, as the only way round this I can think of is to get a new phone that dose work.

  • What is the latest PC Sync for Sony (Ericsson) Mobiles?

I see different types of software for syncing Sony devices. But which of the followings are the lastest and which one(s) are expired.
    Sony Ericsson PC Suite 6.011.00
PC Suite for Sony Ericsson 1.6.0
Sony PC Companion & Sony Media Go
Is "Sony Ericsson PC Suite" replaced by "Sony PC Companion"? If so, does it cover old Sony Ericsson mobiles such as k310- k750- w810?

PC companion is a replacement for PC suite version 6 (but not for other versions), so any phone that is compatible with this version of PC suite, will also be compatible with PC companion. However, other versions of PC suite can still be used, so none of them have actually expired. As for Media Go, there have been several updates which should work with any phone that is compatible with this application.
    Hope this helps.

  • Missing bottom half of the Sony Ericsson Sync screen

    Hi!
After logging in to Sony Ericsson Sync at http://www.sonyericsson.com/wportal/uss/promotion?cc=se&lc=sv I am missing half of the screen. I see the status part (last sync, and links to Contacts/Calendar/Bookmarks/Notes/Settings), but not the bottom half as depicted here:
This means I am unable to add a new phone for synchronization, which is a bit annoying.
I've tried in Opera, Iceweasel (Firefox) and Chrome, both from home and from my office, and I get the same problems everywhere.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I have no experience of my own from other sync services so I'm not sure which one you could use instead.
Have a look at this list here and see if you can find any that suits you.

  • Error sync with Sony Bridge

I try to sync my music from iTunes playlist to my Sony Xperia Z1 by using Sony Bridge. But the problem is when I finish sync music there are error on Sony Bridge "error cannot open file". Does anyone have some solution with this problem?

You should be able to move the music or playlists from iTunes to your phone using Bridge for Mac or PC Companion as long as the files aren't DRM protected.
There is also apps that you can download from Google Play that can help you sync with iTunes. Just search for iTunes on Google Play.

  • Sony Ericsson W760a sync horribly slow on 10.6.1

iSync worked fine after the 10.6 upgrade, but now that I've updated to 10.6.1, it has become as slow as molasses! It's taking nearly a minute per address book entry, and I have more than 200 entries to sync. Calendar transfer works fine, and transferring files via Bluetooth works fine. Anyone else experiencing anything like this? (Upgrading to Snow Leopard has caused far more problems for me than upgrading from Tiger to Leopard ever did…)

I bit the bullet and tried syncing overnight. The first try, iSync crashed after reaching about 14% progress in 20 minutes. I tried again, and it did finish the sync eventually, so I have all my contacts and calendar on my phone now (whew!). I made a change to one of my contacts this morning and did another sync to test. There are still at least two problems:
    1) Syncing still takes a ridiculously long time.
    2) Pictures of the contacts no longer appear linked to their profile on my phone. This worked fine before the upgrade.
I'm wondering if Sony Ericsson needs to update their iSync drivers. I tried reinstalling them and no dice.

  • Sony Ericsson W960i - Can't Sync

I just purchased the W960i, and I can't find any support or viable plugins so I can sync my Address Book, and iCal. What can I do? I would have purchased the iPhone, but it will not be available in my host country for at least another year. I really need to be able sync for my work. HELP!!!

K800 syncing is still working fine - there are no issues with any iSync updates. Your K800 syncing problems are almost certainly solvable and due to iSync's History needing resetting or some corruption in either your Contacts or Calendars.
The K800 and W960 are completely different phones with a different OS.
So far, no one yet, neither Apple, Sony Ericsson or a third-party has created a fully 100% working for everyone iSync Plugin for any of the new Symbian Sony Ericsson phones, such as the W960, P990, M600, P1i etc.
Sony Ericssons own iSync Plugins for these phones do not work reliably for many, or at all for others.
The W960 Plugin you've found is just a 'hacked' Sony Ericsson P1/P990 one, which is why it suffers from the same issues as the other Symbian-based phones.
Because syncing of these phones is so flaky, unreliable and inconsistent across Macs and different users, that's also why you haven't seen any professional iSync Plugins from any of the usual providers. They're not going to release something that doesn't work 100% at all times and for all users.
