Unusual flash issue. Flash causes mouse to flicker then freezes on all browsers.

I've reinstalled flash, cleared settings, cleared cache, checked on another user account, etc. All was working fine before I did a new SSD install. I copied the older hard drive to the SSD and everything else seems fine.
When loading a page with flash on it, if its simple flash it may run but not allow you to scroll. If it is more complex like a video it freezes up, the mouse might disappear or flicker alot while this is happening.
Other current issues include that the screenshot and grab program does not work. And some screen savers said they could not work on this version of OS X (I'm running 10.6.8)
Thoughts? Could it be the graphic card even though it was working fine before?
Thanks so much in advance

Thanks, again!
I ran the Repair Permissions.  Though it found a bunch of stuff to repair, sadly, it doesn't seem to have fixed this issue. Oddly enough, if I run the repair permissions twice in a row, it states that it's repairing the same stuff... is that normal? Lots of Java, Remote Desktop and Flash things were listed.  Along with a warning about not being able to repair a change made to... ADUI (I think).
I must have been mistaken about it not being an issue under the other log in, as well.  After I fixed the permissions and resarted, I tested Chrome under my normal login resulting with the same issue. I then logged off, and changed to the "Test" login,  went to watch the same Hulu video under that test log in on Chrome, and it happened again.  I thought, "Maybe it's just Chrome, now," and tested that same video under the Test Log in on Firefox and had the same result.
I don't understand why it only happens with some videos... catches me off guard and shuts off the computer before I can stop it.  Yesterday, when I restarted after the surprise shut-off, it didn't want to recognize my USB keyboard, and I had to take off the USB extention cable, plugging the keyboard directly into the port in back of the computer to get it recognized.  Today, after I shut off all the browsers, and put it to sleep for a while, when woken up, it didn't want to connect to Wi-Fi, and then didn't want to complete the shut down process...
Any thoughts?
thanks!!
angieb.

  • Adobe Flash Player 11.7.700.169 Crashes On All Browsers

Hello, recently my computer went completely nuts. Prior to this I did not mess around with anything important on my computer. The next day I start it up and my main browser, Google Chrome, could not load any pages from any website. After a while it told me that the pages were unresponsive and I have to kill them, which did nothing. I try the other browsers and they seem to work fine... accept whenever I end up on a website which requires Flash Player for Firefox it would say that the plugin has crashed and for Internet Explorer it would crash the whole page, load it up again, crash the whole page again, load it up again... I have tried restarting, uninstalling, reinstalling and some website even suggested a previous version which was more stable, no luck. I also noticed that I have to open most programs (such as Steam) with "Run this program with computability mode for:" otherwise it would crash and close the program. I am fresh out of ideas and any help would be much appreciated!(I have screenshots but it sais doesn't support property of method and I don't see any attachment possible)

  • Flash crashes literally 100% of the time, on all browsers

    OS : Windows 7
    Flash version: 15.0.0.239
Browsers tried: Firefox 34.0.5, Chrome, IE
Every single time (not exaggerating), when I navigate to a site that has flash, it will get very slow, then a popup saying "Shockwave Flash might be busy...". Waiting doesn't help as it never shows up, and the same message pops up.
I've tried running firefox in safe mode, installing different versions of flash - Tried 11, 12, 13, and 16. Even tried editing mms.cfg and disabling protected mode. My other computer which is also Windows 7 and also Flash V. 15.0.0.239 has no problems. I'm at a loss. Help plz?

Oooo Kay? It magically started working just today. Didn't even do anything. I'm not complaining.

  • Flash 10.1 not working on selected webpages (all browsers)

I'll admit I'm at my wits end when it comes to this problem. I have done all of the most logical and most suggested methods to try and fix it, to no avail. I don't recall when this problem started, unfortunately, but it hasn't always been a problem.
    First, my basic specs.
    HP Pavilion d4600y
    Windows XP-Home Edition
    Firefox 3.6.8, IE 7.0, Chrome 5.0.375
    Webroot SpySweeper with Anti-virus
I also run WinPatrol, and Ad-Aware.
I have done a clean uninstall and reinstall of both Flash and Shockwave, to no avail.
I can't discern any noticeable pattern between which websites work, and which ones don't. YouTube, Google Video, Megavideo all work. ESPN and selected other sites don't.
The same sets of sites work and don't work in all 3 browsers listed above, which really makes me think it's a Flash problem.
    Any help is much appreciated.
    Cheers,
    Cameron

Hi Vinny, LOL, I had the right thread, just the wrong link!! I was on several sites researching and that google link was one of them but didn't intend to post it to you:-)
    http://www.adobe.com/support/security/bulletins/apsb10-17.html   This one was yours
On that FF, I couldn't find anything helpful on the forum there. I think I'll look elsewhere.
    Thanks,

  • Flash player video streaming starts then freezes

I can't play videos in IE9 or Chrome without it freezeing during playback.  It will load 30 -60 seconds of video then it stops. I have tried reloading and adjusting all settings.  I have disabled my Virus Software and tried other steps but none of them work.  I have a fast internet connection and downloads of other natures work very well.  Only my flash player files are affected.  I really don't know what to try next. I am not getting any error messages.  Any suggestions?

It is affected by all adobe flash sites I have visited. Pilotonline.com; wavy.com; cox.net; youtube just to name a few. On the cox site it affected the internet speed test which is flash based. Starts fast the stops in the middle just like the videos.

  • Flash 11.1 runs only in Software mode in all browsers

    Hi,
I have a problem that the Flash player runs only in Software mode in all browsers.
I have the following notebook: Dell Vostro 3350 with dual graphics (Intel HD Graphics integrated and AMD Radeon HD 6490M dedicated), the OS is Windows 7 64-bit.
The driver version that is in the device manager is the following: 8.840.7.3000 (I've made sure to have installed the latest driver from Dell)
The hardware acceleration radio button in the Flash settings is on, of course.
The funny thing is that in the Flash 11 Incubator program DirectX rendering was working properly, the problems have started since the RC version of Flash 11.
    Can you help me somehow?
    Many thanks,
    CapKosmaty

    Hey guys, I'm unburying this thread; I've waited a bit, hoping that an update would put my model from the blacklist, but there's no change;
Here's my dxdiag log: (could it be that Flash has problems with switchable graphics? I run different retail games, like Star Wars: The Old Republic recently, and they run perfectly on the Radeon HD 6490M)
    again, I'm grateful for help!

  • Layering Flash over Flash with DIVs is causing cursor to flicker...

    I have a problem with a set-up I have, where I have one Flash
SWF file placed over another SWF file, in two different DIV tags in
    my HTML.
I have used "z-index" to order my DIVs, and I have used
"wmode=transparent" etc. to view the one file under the other, and
the 2 files together display in all browsers just fine. That's not
the problem. It looks and renders just great.
The problem I have is that when I hover my curser over a
button in my top SWF file, instead of just getting the usual
arrow-to-hand cursor change, my cursor flickers wildly between the
two (and I have checked the button rollover state in the Flash
authoring app, and it's just fine). It's as if my cursor is
flickering between deciding whether to display the button rollover
hand in the top Flash layer or the standard arrow for the
non-button area in the bottom Flash layer.
Weirdly though, this behaviour is only happening in Safari on
my Mac. When I look at my test page in Firefox (for Mac), my cursor
behaves just fine. When I check it in both IE and Firefox for
Windows, again my cursor works as expected.
    It's just Safari.
Does anyone have a solution for this problem?
The thing is though, I cannot use one DIV and bring in the
two SWFs through one Flash 'container' movie. I have to use the two
DIVs, because on some pages, I need the content to scroll using the
browser's standard/included scroll-bars, but I need the top DIV to
NOT scroll with it, but rather to stay still on the screen using
    "position: fixed;".
    My entire code is below:

  • Flash causing hangs in safari 4

Hi, I've been having issues with safari 4 intermittently beachballing, and I've come to notice it's generally occurring as a flash ad/video is loading. The system log also reads...
    21/09/2009 20:24:11 com.apple.WebKit.PluginAgent[270] Debugger() was called!
...something which raises my suspicions that it is flash causing the problem. Is anyone else having similar problems?
    Thanks.

    Hi
    Two things to check.
Ensure that you have the latest version of flash as the one that is installed as part of 10.6 is old.
The second is to force Safari into 32bit mode, ctrl click the Safari icon and tick the 32bit check box.
This solved the issues I was having with shockwave.
It appears that a number of the common plugins don't quite behave themselves in 64bit mode.
    Hope this helps
    Regards
    Gavin

  • Flash causes firefox to hang

Flash causes FF4 (on Windows7) to hang. I uninstalled the latest version of flash and installed the 10.1 r53 as indicated in one article and it still hangs. I finally unistalled flash and FF4 works fine but no flash etc...

OK, setting protectedmode=0 has solved the issue!

  • Anytime I run a Flash game, Firefox closes! I have updated all add-ons and extentions, disabled Adobe DLM and went through the suggestions to fix this issue. NOTHING WORKS! What do I do?

The game I am trying to play is on Facebook. The internet and other sites work as normal, but when I load a flash game the game begins for about 30 seconds and then freezes and firefox shuts down. I have used INTERNET EXPLORER and the games loads fine. This issue is with firefox plugins, extensions, add-ons...or whatever. I don't know what to do to get this to work properly.

Thank you so much, for once in my computer life I knew what the problem was, what caused it, why it was caused, what it did, what it made it do and most importantly how to fix it and to do it correctly and expeditiously. I can not Thank You all enough for all of the help! I also have Pogo mailed this to all on my friends list, where they have all learned as I have and have fixed theirs also. and the message is being spread. Thank You again, I just can not say it enough.

  • Shockwave flash causes firefox 4 crash

shockwave flash causes firefox 4 hangs. it happens whether using the latest or the previous version of flash. removing flash solves the problem but removing flash is not a solution. this happens on a computer with Windows 7. However on another computer with XP this does not happen.

#Download a copy of Flash from http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ and save it to your desktop.
#Then download the [http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html Flash Uninstaller]
#Close Firefox via File | Exit
#Run the uninstaller to remove Flash from Firefox. It will also remove it from IE.
    #Reboot
#Run the Flash installer you downloaded to your desktop earlier (do not start Firefox). This will install it on Firefox only.
#Open IE and go to http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ and choose Run when you see the prompt.
#Test the installation in both Firefox and IE by going to: http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/

  • OSX update 10.10.2 causes mouse to jump around and text to be highlighted randomly in Dreamweaver CC 2014

OSX update 10.10.2 causes mouse to jump around and text to be highlighted randomly in Dreamweaver CC. When trying to click on a specific line of code in a js file the cursor ends up in a different place in the script and several lines of code highlighted. Clicking again jumps the mouse to a different position and even more lines of code highlighted and some characters rearranged, breaking the lines of code. Very frustrating.

    Preran,
I am having the same issue. I have a MBP connected to 2 x Dell 27" monitors over Mini DisplayPort to HDMI cables. Once I updated to OS X 10.10.2 this cursor highlight/jumping around issue only occurs on the connected monitors. If I move the program to the main laptop display the issue goes away. It does not require me to restart the program or the machine to make it work correctly. One way I am able to identify the issue is if I go to the line numbers in code like I wanted to select multiple lines - in the one that works correctly, the cursor turns into a white version where the tip of the cursor points to the right. When it is wrong, the cursor stays black and will only have the tip point to the left. Its just another way I identified if it was working cause I tried uninstalling DW and reinstalling - didn't work. Reset preferences as you discussed - no go. And I used other editors like IntelliJ and Adobe Edge Code - all of which work fine and don't display this issue.
I tried the preferences reset you suggest and it doesn't work. I have another machine with OS X 10.10.1 on it and this issue is not there on any monitor. Any help with this ASAP as it pretty much stops you from being able to do any editing especially with longer pages as it consistently wants to page up when you select anything and if you then click again in another area it tries to move the highlighted code to that new spot.
Update: I have a USB Microsoft Arch touch mouse connected (always worked just fine). When I go to place my cursor at some point in the code it causes the highlight flicker. If I switch over and use the built in trackpad, then I can place the cursor without the highlight issue. When trying to select multiple lines or sections of code, that still see's the highlight, page up and move of code issues regardless of input type.

  • Snow Leopard + Flash 10.3.181.14 Plugin + Freeze

    • Mac OS X 10.6.7
    • MacPro 12GB RAM
    • Latest Safari Build
    • Flash Plugin (System Preferences Pane) 10.3.181.14
    • Adobe Flash CS4 10.0.2
    • Coda 1.7
While all Flash objects in all of my browsers (Safari, Chrome, FF, etc) work perfectly, when using Coda to view the websites (which runs using Safari's webkit engine and resources), certain Flash objects cause the Coda program to freeze, and then Coda needs to be Force Quitted.
This was not an issue with the same version of Coda on Leopard, 10.5.x. I also noticed 10.5.x does not use a Flash plugin preference pane. 10.5 has Flash version 10.2. No such problems there.
Visually, every few times the Flash object in question would load, but it would have visual artifacts and random lines, rather than the actual content. It looks very similar to an overclocked, overheated video card screen. See attached screenshot from Coda, vs. Safari. After the glitch happens, the next load of the SWF file causes a program freeze.

However, I could not find any issues in the console raised directly by Flash or Adobe. I'll be cross posting this in the Coda user support group.
What's going on here? Why would this only happen through Coda, which is basically using Safari's engine?

I should add that the SWF object in question here is being loaded dynamically through a lightbox style jQuery plugin. The SWF itself is using SWFobject2 to load. Finally, the SWF object's parent containers are often switched between display: none and display: block.
Again, only the built-in Coda browser has issue with all of this.

  • Flash player opens muted by default on all browsers

In the past couple days I have experienced an annoying issue where flash player opens muted on all browsers.  This is WIndows 7 64-bit OS, the latest Flash Players, the latest browsers (IE, Firefox and Opera).  I can unmute but having to do so every time I open a new video is DANG annoying!  Is there any registry or hidden config settings that controls the opening state of audio for the flash player that I can modify...I have never seen this in years of using Flash Player...help please...
After reading more discussions and testing flash player on other sites that stream flash its obvious that the issues stems from YouTube...but this only coincides with the latest release of Flash Player.  This indicates that Flash Player is allowing stream content to manipulate controls on the player...so how can we prevent this????

Google has acknowledged a "glitch" in their YouTube code that is causing this. There is NOTHING that Flash Player has to do with it, and there is NOTHING that Flash Player can fix in YouTube's code. Google has stated that they are working on the fix this week.
