Unusual movie file format

Hi guys,
i have recorded a movie (within the world of warcraft game) usually the game automatically compresses the file into a .mov file, but failed to on this occassion, i really want this movie. im left with a list of .wvd files and a .wav file. Does anyone know if there is anyway of getting my mac to read or compress these files.
thanks for you help

A .wav file is an uncompressed audio file and the other files are most likely raw video files and data files.
Looks like your program failed in the middle of making the movie, the files leftover are probably incomplete or corrupted or both.

  • Nikon D5200 264 Codec in MOV file format

I have upgraded to the Nikon D5200. This camera is brand new but I am unable to view the videos in premiere. Only the audio shows up.The videos are saved in MOV file format. After updating the Quicktime on my computer I can see the videos but they are very choppy and pixelated. Once I put them into a premiere project, they have to immediately be rendered. Am I missing something here?
I was using a Sony NEX 5R and never had this problem. Please help me figure out the best way to fix this problem as I can not do any video editing under these circumstances. Thanks for your help.

Lots more information is needed for us to help you as John T. Smith has said.
    1. What version of Premiere Elements are you using and on what computer operating system is it running?
    2. From what I have read of your camera, you are shooting AVCHD, if you say .mov, the with a .mov file extension. I believe the audio is Linear PCM Stereo. But, what is your camera setting? I see several choices
    1920 x 1080 @ 29.97 interlaced frames per second (aka 60i)
    1920 x 1080 @ 29.97 progressive frames per second
    1280 x 720 @ 50 or 60 progressive frames per second
    and even
    640 x 424 @ 30 or 25 progressive frames per second.
    Which one?
    3. What are you or the project setting as the project preset based on the properties of your source media.
    4. Besides now having the latest version of QuickTime installed on your computer, are you running Premiere Elements as Run As Administrator or from a User Account with Administrative Privileges?
    5. If you do not have the correct project preset, that would be the top choice for the colored line over that Timeline content and the need for rendering of that Timeline to get the best possible preview in the Edit Mode monitor. The latter occurs when you did not set it correctly or the program had problems putting the video properties into one of its categories. Then you set the project preset yourself manually before you import the source media. Once we have more details from you, we can help you select the correct project preset and sort through other possible factors contributing to your issues.
The answers are in the details.
We look forward to your follow up.
    Thanks.

  • How do I use m2ts movie file format from my old pc with FCP on my mac?

I have recently moved from a PC to a iMac. I have a large number of Sony AVCHD movie files, which were imported to my PC and are in the m2ts file format on my PC. The original files on my Sony camera were deleted so these files are now all I have. Also, for each movie clip on my PC there are 3 files....a very large m2ts file along..... with two very small file....one is a .modd file and the other a .moff file.
I now want to use these m2ts files (and if needed possibly these other two smaller files) on my Mac make movies with either iMovie or Final Cut Pro. and don't know how to import them or convert them for use on my Mac. Can anyone help?
One final question. Can FCP author DVD's or is separate software required. Apple has discontinued iDVD for iMovie (which I find rediculous) and so I'm worried they don't support making DVD's with FCP.
    Thanks

Although I don't use Toast I know lots of people who do and like it for a variety of purposes; for example, many people author in DVDSP and burn disks using Toast. But there are a lot of versions and they have differing features and capability. Do a search in these (or iDVD) forums you'll find plenty of info. Don't know about the other app. Again, if you ask Apple, they may come through with iDVD…they have for others.
Clipwrap quality limitations? Try the trial and test the results for yourself. As far as I know the trial is fully freatured but there is a one minute clip limitation (which doesn't apply to the paid version).
    Good luck.

  • Quicktime will not allow playback of .mov files (format DVCPRO HD)

    hi
i'm unable to play .mov files with quicktime application. i am using mac 10.4.11 and have the latest version of quicktime 7.4.5.
when i click the files the screen shows only white, and sometimes only audio, no images.
i am unsure if upgrading to quicktime pro would solve this, or if i need to download additional plug ins to support .mov playback.
i have opened to the movie inspector page and it does not tell me what plug in is needed - it lists the source, format, fps, playing fps (when available), data size, data rate, current time, duration and normal size.
how do i find which plug in i need?
    thanks for hopefully helping. sara

I actually found a link to download the missing components that you listed. i installed the package and it now shows under hard drive / library / quicktime but the HD files will still not play in Quicktime.
could this be because i do not have FCP?
I do not need to edit with the clips - merely to be able to playback to review.
    thanks sara

  • What movie file formats can be imported into iMovie?

Can you directly import .avi, mpeg or .mov files? What about a Quicktime movie file? Just trying to figure out which file format iMovie will accept. I have a movie that was edited on Adobe Premiere and want to make sure I export the movie in the correct format.
    Thanks.

keep in mind: avi nor mov are 'formats', just media wrappers = box of chocolate, you'lll never know ...
stay within normal video standards, such as 1080i or 720p, 25/29.97fps ... mov encoded with h264 should be fine.
and avoid fancy stuff such as surround, Dolby 5.1., 3D ........

  • How to save a Windows 7 PSE video project to a .MP4 or .MOV file format?

I've created a pan & zoom video slide show with PSE 8 and saved it to a WMF file for use by my church.  However, they recently switched over to using a MAC for presentations.   Does PSE 13 allow you to save video projects as MP4 or MOV files suitable for Apple platforms?  I know about free malware like Format Factory.  I uses that once and learned my lesson.  I'm hoping that the PSE 13 is friendlier to Apple formats.  Yea or nay?

You need to ask this question in Premier Elements forum at this link:

  • HT204382 a .flv document could not be opened. The movies file format isn't recognised. Is there additional software available that will enable quicktime to open the movie

I wanted to view a document with a .flv extention (0.1. Launchpad.flv) on my mac book pro. The following message came up
The document "o.1. Launchpad.flv " could not be opened.

I'd get VLC & try that, although Perian may still work to play within quicktime, but it's no longer being developed.

  • Why can't I File-export-render video into a mpeg 4 rendering into a small .mov file format in cs6?

I create short videos using the PS frame animation panel. I used to be able to FILE-export-render video- and choose MPEG-4 Video in the settings panel which would render my file into a small .mov file. Now in CS6 the new render video panel does not have that option. I tried the QT options in the export window and my file is hugh! The H.264 option gives me an .mp4. I put the .mp4 into my web page via Dreamweaver and my video does not play when uploaded into the sever. The video plays fine in Dreamweaver before I upload to the server. After I upload to the server I just get a Q and no video on my web page.  If I render the same file in CS5 I am able to view it in my web page. I use my iPad to store both jpg and mov files directly from my camera when on the road. I would like to be able to view the .mov files on iPad without the use of a computer. Is this possible?

It depends what video codec the .mov files use. The video formats/codecs supported by the iPad are:

  • Wrong aspect ratio when export to mov file

    Hi,
Hoping that you can help me. I've being filming some Hi-def widescreen 16:9 footage which i've want to export to a mov file. However, whatever option i chose, the resutant export gets converted to 4:3.
I'm not sure what i'm doing wrong. Here are the details.
    Original File
    PAL HDV - 1080i 25fps
    Export
    Codec H.264
    Output 1440x1080 25fps Upper 100%
    Source 1440x1080 25fps Upper
    Aspect: D1/DV PAL widescreen 16:9
Hope you can help. Let me knwo if you need any more information.
    Cheers
    Rob

Thanks for your input. I think the main issue is that i originally captured the video using another peice of software. These files were 1440x1080 so i was getting 'letter boxing' on the left and right. After doing a lot of reading, i now understand the importance of selecting the correct project setting
Leading on from this, I'm about to do some more filming and have hired a HDV camcorder (Sony HVR 27p - PAL). It's 1080i and can film in interlaced (25 or 50fps) or progressive. (25fps)
    My questions are:
The required output playback file (mov file format) needs to be progressive. Should i film in progressive as well, or stick with interlaced and change the output settings when creating the output file?
If i stick with interlaced, do i film in 50 or 25 as the output file needs to be 25fps?
Although the camera captures 16:9, the pixels are 1440x1080 (which by all accounts in usual with HDV cameras.) Do i select a project setting whose setup is 1440x1080 or do i use 1720x1080?
Thanks a lot for your help so far.

  • Watching movie files on ipad just with the connection kit

Hello everybody. A simple question. Can I watch movies on the ipad 2 only with the connection of an usb stick? Or have I copy the file on the ipad 2 to watch the movie? Thanks

The kit is aimed at copying content from digital cameras, so it only copies into the Photos app, not into the Videos app. I've just tried it with a couple of videos via the CCK - an MP4 video copied into the Photos app and played there, an M4V originally downloaded from iTunes copied into Photos but won't play there (plays ok when synced from my computer into the Videos app).
The supported video formats on the iPad are (from http://www.apple.com/ipad/specs/) :
Video formats supported: H.264 video up to 720p, 30 frames per second, Main Profile level 3.1 with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats; MPEG-4 video, up to 2.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Simple Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps per channel, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats; Motion JPEG (M-JPEG) up to 35 Mbps, 1280 by 720 pixels, 30 frames per second, audio in ulaw, PCM stereo audio in .avi file format
