Unwanted automatic chrome filter in Photos

My version of Photos, Version 1.0 (209.52.0), on 10.10.3 is automatically and routinely applying the chrome filter to all photos in my archive when I scroll through one-by-one with the right arrow key.
How do I stop this please ?

It seems to happen when the aspect ratio is close to the aspect ratio of the screen only. VERY annoying!

  • Photos not uploading to iPhoto with chrome filter

Since updating to iOS8, photos taken on my iPhone 5s with the chrome filter are uploading into iPhoto without the filter. Does anyone know how to change this? I want the photos on my computer to be the same as my phone. Please help

How are you importing? Photo Stream or USB?
Right now, there is no way in the Photos.app to save a copy the photo with the filter added to the camera roll, so it can be transferred this way by Photo Stream or USB. Mail the photo or share it to Dropbox, and wait for the iCloud Photo Library (Beta) to be released.

  • How do you filter for photos with develop adjustments?

I wanted to put this information out there, because it was difficult for me to find an answer to the question of "how do you quickly filter for photos that have develop adjustments?"
Some earlier posts in this forum observe that a smart collection has the ability to filter files wherein "has adjustments" is "true." Yes, it can do that. And it can also add in a "date" parameter for more specific targeting. But it cannot simply say, "in the current folder," or "in the selected folder." And frankly, that's the exact situation when I need to filter down to the files I want: I'm in a folder—typically the current folder that I've just imported—and I've done a smattering of develop adjustments. Now, I want to quickly select just those images for export. Can't be done, not with a Smart Collection, anyway.
But Lightroom is nothing if not deep, and if you approach the problem from a filtering standpoint, it will eventually get you there—but the solution is very non-obvious. Expose the filter bar, with your favorite preset: camera info, default columns... it doesn't really matter. Hover over the header bar and to the far right will become visible the "add column" widget. Add a column. From the pop-up menu on the name will come a long list of options, the second-to-last of which is "develop preset." Once that's in place, click on "custom." Save your current settings as a new preset and give it a descriptive name like "adjusted images."
Now, when you're in your current—or any—folder, just click on "metadata" in the filter bar, and your custom preset will be in effect: any images that you've worked on will be selected. It's a fast, one-click selection.
If there's another way of doing this (keep in mind it's for the selected or current folder only), let me know. It's such a seemingly desirable action that I'm kind of astounded there's no built-in or easy or obvious way to do it... or that no photographer has requested it.

I am honored to have a response from Rikk "MVP" Flohr, and I do readily agree that your approach is one way to approach the issue. It puts the relevant images in a discrete area that is easy to access. However (this is where I look a gift horse in the mouth) I find "sorts" a bit underwhelming in comparison to "filtering." Two problems: first, the sort still does not 'clear your deck' of unwanted images. You still have to squint at the badges and carefully select the range at the top (or bottom). Mistakes can be made (and I would be the first to make them). Second, the sort command is "sticky," meaning that folder will always have that sort unless you undo it. In general, I think most photographers want to see a folder's images sorted by capture time, so they can easily glance to the beginning, middle, and end of the shoot. With my method, once you click out of the folder, the filter is taken away and you're back to normal.
I do understand that Lightroom wants me to flag my images with rankings or stars or colors or dancing beavers or what-have-you. But in this particular situation, that's an extra step. If I've applied development adjustments, it's already done. Why shouldn't I be able to choose "Select Developed Photos" from the Edit menu, right under "Select Flagged Photos"?

I would also recommend to write the description into the meta data. This would allow to place a text frame above the image and it is possible to add meta information and file name automatically together with the image, when you place it or even in a prepared template.
Meta data information can be written easily in Bridge in the Meta File Workspace.

FAQ: Can I filter the photos to show just those taken by someone, or liked, or commented on?
    Answer:
Yes, GroupPix can show you just subsets of photos at a time.
To see just the photos from a particular person,
iOS: go into full screen view for a photo, then tap that person's name; you will see a grid showing only those photos contributed by that person.
Android: go into an event, select the menu under the Event name, and tap 'Photographer' to show a list of contributors to an event. Tap a person to see their photos.
To see photos that are liked or have comments, tap the Filter button in the upper-left of the screen. Then, choose just Liked Photos or Commented Photos.
Tap the back arrow to return to full the Group Album.

  • How do I stop iphoto from creating events automatically when I import photos from an external hard drive?

IPhoto is creating events automatically when I import photos and when I merge events and then go to finder>all images, I see iphoto has created several copies of each picture....I try to delete the extra copies but then the albums or events also get affected, even if there is one copy of each photo left in all images...have someone had this problem?

You don't have a problem at all.
IPhoto is creating events automatically when I import photos
This is how iPhoto works. Every photo is in an Event. Events are the basic organisation of the Library. Every import means at least one new Event. Yes you can merge Events after import and so on, but there is at least one Event created at each import.
I see iphoto has created several copies of each picture....
No it hasn't. It hs created versions of the photos, not copies. There will be a couple of thumbnails  for viewing in the iPhoto Window plus the Master and then a edited version for pics that are modified. The icons for each of these may be similar but they are not copies - for a start they are different sizes - and all are required for iPhoto to work.
    go to finder>all images
Don't. This is simply a list of all the images on your computer. It makes no account or allowance for the purpose of these images. Really, if you're using iPhoto ignore this because if you
I try to delete the extra copies
Then you are trashing your Library.
So, this is how iPhoto works, there is no problem and stay away from All Images.

  • Automatic upload feature in Photo Stream

I am confused with the 'Automatic Upload' feature in photo stream within iPhoto.  Hopefully you can help.
The way I understand this feature is if I import a photo within iPhoto and the automatic upload feature is enabled, it will automatically put the imported photo into the photo stream such that it will be on all my ios devices.  Now this where it gets confusing.  In iPhoto I do not see the photo in my photostream event folder.  I do see it in photo stream on ios devices)iphone and iPad).  In iPhoto the photo is currently in the 'Import' folder.  So where does the photo in the import go when I do another import.  And...when photo stream d/l's pictures to monthstream folder, will there now be 2 copies of that same picture in iPhoto.
I hope this is clear and you understand what I am trying to decipher.

    Thanks for answering.
Cause I have some photos want to do some post processing in ipad via some tools like snapspeed.
It happended to be the recently imported photos. So my work flow  is to get the photo from photostream in ipad.
After finishing post processing, it automatically creates a new  photo in photostream (which I love that).
And I can easily get the photo in  my iMac via photo stream.
That's why I found the resolution changed, cause at first I even want to replace my original one.
So I think if I want preserver the resolution, maybe I can use your way.
    Thanks agiain.

  • Filter by photo orientation

How can I filter by photo orientation (i.e. portrait versus landscape) within the currently shown collection or folder?

Okay, sort by aspect ratio, then select all the images of the group you're interested in (click and shift-click) and then make them fiterable. Either add a flag or a color, or make a keyword (portrait or landscape, perhaps), or just add them to a quick collection.

    Dear Friends
I have found a good way to do automatic data filter, we can achieve this goal by using combo list, and put (when_list_changed) trigger on this list, to do the query on the specified block. and as the user enters characters and the data in blocks will be filtered instantly.
i found it, and i thought that can help another users.
    best regards

  • Will iPhoto collection be automatically migrated to new Photos app?

Will iPhoto collection be automatically migrated to new Photos app when it replaces iPhoto?

If history is any guide, and I'm not saying it is or it isn't, the new application will likely import your old photo libraries or access them directly.
However, as with all upgrades, we have to wait and see. None of us have a crystal ball into the future.
Frankly, I wouldn't worry about it.

  • Automatic upload photostream, editing photos

Do I need to turn off automatic upload to photostream while I import and edit photos in iphoto, then turn it back on to avoid getting unedited versions of these photos in the photostream?

Yes, with automatic upload enabled, the photos will be uploaded to the photo stream as soon as you import them. If you want more control, add them manually to the photo stream.

  • Filter all photos with flash light ...

    Hi,
how can I filter all photos that were made with a flash light?
I only can find ISO or aperture options in the filter pane.
Can I extend the filter pane by own filter options?
    Thanks
    Konrad

The Filter Pane, at least in CS3, is limited as to how you can arrange your photos by the topics listed.
If you want to list all the pictures you shot with flash you will have to use the Find function (ctrl F) and set the critera boexs to Flash, exists, and Fired.  Have not tired this but should work.
You can save this as a collection if you want to refer to it again.

  • How can I invert (is there a filter) a photo I've just taken on my iPhone 5s?

How can I invert (is there a filter) a photo I've just taken on my iPhone 5s? I can't figure out how to do it using the settings "invert" AND then apply it to a photo on my iPhone.

Not sure if you can do it directly with the built in camera app.
You can search the app store for app that will invert pictures.

How to stop my 4S from automatically taking hundreds of photos.  I use an otterbox and I think the buttons get pushed when I put it into the belt clip.  Can I disable the side buttons for the camera?  I currently have 1.958 photos of my belt that I am deleting one at a time.  Help on how to tag and deleted belt photos would be helpful.

As you already know, open camera roll - edit - then select the pictures then trash.

  • Unwanted automatic photo compression when uploading or burning

I am operating my iMac on Mac OS X 10.3.9 and have iPhoto 6.0.2 (287) - and ever since I upgraded to iLife06 if I burn photos or upload onto a 3rd party site (e.g. snapfish.com) my files are automatically compressed to a size so small they are not suitable for printing a 4X6 print. An example photo starts out as a 3072x2304 megapixels or 1.7MB file.
What am I missing?? I had no problems uploading or burning prior to installing the iLife06 upgrade.

    Hi JonnoT,
it seems like you are using the photos found in the Data folder. the Data folder contains the large thumbnails of all your photos. You need to burn and upload photos from the Originals or Modified folders. these contain the full size photos.
