Unwanted bold text in PDF

Windows 7, Word 2010, Acrobat X Standard
I created a Word document with non-bold text and many images (.png mostly).
After creating the PDF, the text on every page containing an image is bold.
I discovered that if I check the box to Create PDF/A-1a: 2005 compliant file, then the text is fine. However, I can no longer delete the extra blank page that Word insists on adding.
Short of converting all the pngs to jpgs, does anyone have a work around?
Thanks,
Mary

I was using the PDF Maker Add-on (which is my preferred method). I am not sure what you mean by the Word Options in the save category.
However, by using Acrobat X as you described, the bold text is gone.
Thanks for the help.

  • Only bold text physically prints from a printer from a PDF created in Pro 11.0.2

    Hi.
I have created a PDF of a Microsoft Excel spread sheet in Adobe Pro 11.0.2 but some of the text does not print.
Have tried two different printers but get the same results.
There seems to be a pattern in what does and does not print, but it does not make sense as only the bold text seems to print.
It is written with standard Calibri font in Office Pro Plus 2010 on Win7ProSP1.
It looks fine on the screen as all text is visible after creating the PDF
    Any comments appreciated...

Try printing as a graphic. It may be that the fonts are not downloading to the printer -- a typical issue with HP printers for some reason.

  • Acrobat produces a PDF with bold text redacted

Printing a Crystal Report from a Citrix server to Acrobat Pro XI on a Windows 7 desktop. Bold text in the report is redacted (black box).
If I print the same report from my Windows 7 desktop to Acrobat Pro XI then the bold text appears as it should.

I checked the font used in the Crystal reports (there are hundreds of reports) - the reports use Arial Unicode MS Regular (ARIALUNI.TTF) and the Font embeddability = Editable (whatever that means). The same font is used for bold and normal text - the normal text is fine but the bold text is redacted or blacked out.
At this point I'm out of my area of expertise.
I confirmed with my client that they are using pdfFactory and it works well using the same reports - go figure.
Adobe can't get right with their own PDF files what other parties can

  • Print text in Bold while creating PDF

    Hi,
I am mapping data in the XML to a Template designed using LiveCycle Designer ES3.
I need to print some of the text in BOLD.
For exmple in the following XML, when we display the text in PDF,  person names should be in BOLD.
Part of the XML that is fed to template designer.
    <house>
    <parent>Mike and Mary are Mark's parents.</parent>
    </house>
What is expected in the PDF:
Mike and Mary are Mark's parents.
I would appreciate if someone could please help me to achieve this task.
    Have  a good day!
    Regards,
    Patnapu.

    Hi,
Check out Parth's example here: http://livecyclekarma.wordpress.com/2009/05/20/richtext-tricks-for-textfield-in-designer/.
Also do a search on this forum, I am sure Steve Walker did an example.

  • Random text appearing as bold when creating PDF from Photoshop CS5

Hi I am a relative newcomer to Photoshop CS5. I have been creating a document with a background image layer and a couple of text box layers. The font is set at Arial, italic, sharp. When I save the document as a PDF file, random words appear in bold. I have tried deleting these words in the PSD document text layer and retyping them but they still appear as bold in the PDF file. Interestingly when I save as a JPEG image the bold words appear as normal. Any ideas/ tips would be greatly appreciated. CS5 version is 12.0.4 and OS is Windows XP.

Hi have worked out how to create jpeg screenshots - attached

  • PDF has some bold text that should not be bold

In the Word document the text is not bold and when the PDF file is viewed it is not bold, but when the PDF file is printed, the text is bold.
    Using Windows 8.1, 64 bit -  Adobe Reader 11.0.9 - Office Word 2013

    Thanks for your interest
I went to File - Save As - and then took the PDF option of how to save the
Word document.  When viewing the PDF from the Save As, the text is not
bold, it become bold when the PDF is printed.

  • How do you search bold text in Adobe Reader XI for Windows?

We create documents electronically that contain bold text for a client. No matter what we try in Adobe Reader XI for Windows, bold text is not found. Is it not searchable? Is there a setting that we are overlooking to enable it? So far, only NitroPDF is the only program I can find that works.

I just created a small test PDF (test_bold.pdf) with some bold words in it.  Reader XI (11.0.09) has no trouble finding these words.
You can download the test doc from https://files.acrobat.com/a/preview/333accd7-f54b-40f4-b06f-f14a3608f120
Search for the word lazy that has been boldened multiple times in the doc.

  • Missing text in PDF when I use Acrobat 9.2 and FM 9

I was able to PDF ok from FM9 using Acrobat 6, but when I upgraded to Acrobat 9.2,
I'm getting some missing text in the PDF. Some non-bold text is missing. The number
for Chapter 3 is missing in the TOC. Any suggestions?

I was able to PDF ok from FM9 using Acrobat 6, ...
What font name, format (TTF, PFB/PFM, OTF?) and vintage?
Did you upgrade the fonts when upgrading the apps?
Any chance you have multiple copies of the same typeface name installed? Historically, having both the TTF and PFM (Type 1) of the same name installed could have undesired results.
... but when I upgraded to Acrobat 9.2, I'm getting some missing text in the PDF. Some non-bold text is missing.
What is "some text"? Some entire typefaces (all text thereof), or just some characters of a typeface, like, say, the ligatures in Helvetica.
The number for Chapter 3 is missing in the TOC.
What font is Frame looking for?
Also, are you embedding the fonts during PDF creation?

  • Bolded font in PDF appears distorted on printing

    Hello,
I am currently experiencing a vexing issue that my searching was unable to turn up an answer for. A client has recently revamped their process of sending out PDF invoices and changed some software/settings around (I'm unsure of the exact nature of the changes), and now, although the PDF looks fine on the computer screen, the bolded text is garbled on printing.
I am using the latest version of Adobe Reader, and had a colleague try it (with the same end result) on Adobe Acrobat Pro (also latest version).
It is only the bolded text that appears garbled, the remainder of the text prints fine. The bolded text is still readable, just very bad looking. It looks almost like additional characters were taken and offset as well as angled relative the original. The same thing happens when printing to PDF.
According to Adobe Reader properties, the fonts are "JohnstonITCTT (Embedded Subset)" and "JohnstonMdITCTT (Embedded Subset)." The font is also listed as TT (I believe this stands for True Type). It is my understanding that "Embedded Subset" means that only the subset of characters in use in the PDF is included in the PDF, so that systems that do not have the appropriate font installed will still work fine, in theory.
Any insights you guys would be willing to share would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Matt

The problem also affects the same plots when they are part of a Latex output PDF made with TexShop. I thought this is normal, since Texshop uses Mac's PDF Preview machinery to process.

  • How to change text in PDF doc. which is a musical score

    Hello,
I'm new here, so please excuse me if I do or say something I shouldn't.
I need to change the words in a musical score because the font is too small. OCR recognition doesn"t work because there are illustrations that are different from images or text... Is there a way to get in there and make the changes I need to do?
    Any help greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the reply, but I have Adobe Reader 9 Pro. Will it still not
    work ?

  • How can I digitalize a document text in PDF and export it to WORD?

How can I digitalize a document text in PDF and export it to WORD?

If you already have a PDF document, ExportPDF can help you with this task. https://www.acrobat.com/exportpdf/en/convert-pdf-to-word.html
On the other hand, if you have a physical document, you'll need to scan it into a PDF document first.
Depending on what you need to do you may require different tools & services, so please help us out with more details.

  • Changing the seeded rdf report output from text to PDF

    Hi All,
I am trying to change the seeded report "Print Requisition Report" output from text to PDF. I changed the output format in the concurrent program definition from text to pdf. The report is now getting displayed in pdf format, but the alignment of the fields are changed. The output is not printing as it was printing while in the text output format. The output looks very sloppy, with uneven fonts and too much of text wrapping.
I tried some formatting and fields are somehow getting displayed but doesnt look in proper format. I am not able to change the font style in the report builder 6i, even if i change it is printing in the same font style with uneven font size. I think reducing the font size might help, but i am unable to change. We are on 11.5.10.2. Please provide your valuable suggestions on how to go about.
    Thanks
    Sarvesh

    Hi Hussein,
Thanks for the information. After the adjustments in the layout and the font change the report is now getting displayed without any clipping when clicked on view output. But when the same report is printed some characters on the left and and right side is getting clipped. Please help on how to solve this issue.
    Thanks,
    Sarvesh
