Unwanted conversion of case

I am using DW to update an intranet site that runs on a Unix
machine, meaning case-sensitive file names.
I have found that whenever I create a hyperlink, DW converts
the case of the file name (and of the frame name I supply as
target) to lower case. Which, of course, destructs my web site.
Is there a setting somewhere to stop DW doing so? It is quite
persistant

How are you creating hyperlinks?
I select the text or image in Design View, and then use the
Property
Inspector. I've never seen the case change, but maybe I just
haven't
noticed it.
HTH,
Randy

• Complex file content conversion in case of CSV file

Hi Friends,
What you see below is generated from Excel i.e excel file saved as CSV file. This file i need to map in XI.
Problem is i have to take only the data and not the header part.
for e.g in this particular line
Employee ID          :,,E00315
I need only E0315 and not the header value. Similarly i have to find some solution to map all the required data.
Please suggest me how to use file content conversion in such scenarios.
Solution is required on top priority. Points will be immdly rewarded.
Thanks & Regards

• Conversation lower case to upper case by default not wanted

Hi,
Oracle converts lower case table names and columns names to upper case by default. To keep lower case letters names must be quoted. This "work around" is not acceptable.
Is there a way to change this behavior either for the database or for a session?
Thanks

Easy answer. We are migrating from sybase ASE to
oracle. Sybase supports mixed lower/upper case by
default.Which is a proprietary behavior. After all these years of accusing Oracle of not conforming to standards, when they do (or come close) it bites them. <g>
Users are familiar with reading column names like
"RxCellsHec0Clp0" instead of "RXCELLSHEC0CLP0".
Yes, there are users working directly with sql.If the users are used to putting the column name in double-quotes, then creating the table with identifiers in double-quotes will conform to the expected behaviour. That simply means that each and every reference to the table requires double-quote around the identifiers.
And it is quite impossible to get them changing all their queries
from select RxCellsHec0Clp0 from ...
to select "RxCellsHec0Clp0" from ...One alternative is to wrap every table (of concern) with a view. My thought would be to leave the table with upper case identifiers, have the view with mixed-case identifiers, and use private synonyms to redirect the user to the view.
The assumptions are
1) user-oriented security is in place
2) users use the quoted-identifier syntax

• Wrong conversion of HTML charset in background

Maybe it's better if I use a new topic for this issue, already present in "HTML attachment in a mail"
Hi all,
I'm using 4.7 and in a workflow for travel requests I use a custom method to send an html mail containing the TR overview: if I send this html mail from SWO1 everything is ok, but when the workflow sends it in background there's always an unwanted conversion from charset UTF-8 to iso-8859-1 with changes in background color and font size.
I've tried to set the charset UTF-8 in SCOT but nothing changes and check for OSS notes 661704 , 865885, 887633, 873845, 888518 but these are already installed.
Any help, please? It's urgent.
Thanks and regards.
Angelo

I use the standard function module FITP_ITINERARY_TRIP_HTML to get the travel request overview in HTML and, writing some text files on the AS, I noticed that this FM returns the wrong charset (ISO-8859-1,the default one,and not UTF-8) in background.
It uses dynamic documents.

There is 0 decimal value at TCURX table. Still facing miss match.
Expert's suggestions are welcome.
Regards,

Vijay,I think its a known behaviour because all sap currencies are stored with 2 decimal places. So if any currency is stored with 0 decimal places then it multiples the amount by 100 while displaying the result at query level.Same is happening in your case as well.
There is a detailed document on the same which covers this situation and also provide solution for it.
Please check this.

• PE51_CHECKTAB - Conversion Tab strip

Hi,
I want to pull the Contact no from PA0006 and put into Garnishment (PE51)form. This i can do it using PE51_CHECKTAB's tables and filed tab strip.
My problem is i need display specific format for contact no. i think we can do it thru conversio tab strip. but i do not know where we have to define this format.
if i'm not clear, please write me back.
...Nandha

I have defined a new conversion in FORM CONVERT-NATIO (include PCEDXPL0) when I wanted to print on a payslip short text of an organizational unit instead of it's numerical code. But it is a repair-you probably need an access key to modify an object. May be the following code will be helpful:
1. add your conversion in CASE statement (like mine between comments RMU).
FORM CONVERT-NATIO USING VALUE($CONV) $FOUND.
      $FOUND = TRUE.
      CASE $CONV.
        WHEN 'Y1'. PERFORM CONVERT-Y1.
        WHEN 'Y2'. PERFORM CONVERT-Y2.
*RMU 2004-07-12
*#Zlecenie #DEVK908437 Renata Murat 2004-07-12 #INSERT
        WHEN 'Z1'. PERFORM convert-z1 USING fld_info.*#
*RMU
        WHEN OTHERS.
          $FOUND = FALSE.
      ENDCASE.
ENDFORM.
2. define a form with your conversion
FORM convert-z1  USING fld_info TYPE tr_fld_info..
      DATA:  pos LIKE sy-index,
             feld16(16).
      TABLES: hrp1000.
      FIELD-SYMBOLS: <strng1>.
ASSIGN LOCAL COPY OF (fld_info-pname-strng) TO <strng1>.
      SELECT SINGLE * FROM hrp1000 WHERE plvar = '01'
                             AND otype = 'O'
                             AND objid = <strng1>
                             AND begda <= versc-fpend
                             AND endda >= versc-fpend.
      IF sy-subrc EQ 0.
        fld_info-value = hrp1000-short.
      ELSE.
        CLEAR fld_info-value.
      ENDIF.
ENDFORM.                               " CONVERT-Z1
Note that you can use WRITE statement to format your output. As far as I remember (it was almost 3 years ago) the above change is everything you need to create new conversion.

• ATP- Confirm full Case

Hello,
We are on 4.7V of SAP. I have a business scenario wherein a product Base unit of measure is "EA", but we want to ship the products in complete cases.
So, if  1 CS = 10 EA and we have 12 EA's in stock. Customer places order for 2 CS, ATP should confirm only 1 CS in this situation as the stock is not enough to ship 2 CS.
Please help me figure out how to acheive this in SAP.
Thank you in advance.
-Naga

Try the following;
1. Maintain the conversion between case and EA in the material master. 2) Add the sales UOM as case in the material master Sales:sales org1 views. 3) Enter the sales order quantity in case and then check how the ATP confirm the quantities.
Just came across SAP OSS Note 547118 - FAQ: Result of ATP calculation. The point 10 of this note suggests to use user exit. Below is the detail.
10. Question
Why is the confirmed quantity a decimal fraction even though I have activated the setting in Customizing that informs the system that decimal places must not be used for the unit of measure?
Answer
This setting in Customizing only refers to the requested quantities accepted by the system. If you only ever work with whole values (that is, inventory postings and all receipts and issues) and if a document works with a sales probability of 100 percent, the whole numbers are also retained even during the ATP invoice.
If, however, a document works with a sales probability between 0 and 100 percent, quantities that are not whole numbers can also be assigned. Consequently, quantities that are not whole numbers also remain available and can then be assigned. Therefore, a result that is not a whole number is possible even though Customizing is defined differently.
The standard R/3 system does not need to have a rounding function because the design objectives can only be defined individually and other rounding problems would occur, such as conservative rounding or rounding that would result in overassignment.
If you nevertheless want to use a rounding function for the confirmed quantities, the EXIT_SAPLATPC_002 function module is provided as a user exit for changing the result of the ATP check. In this case, the T006-ANDEC and T006-DECAN fields must be analyzed depending on the unit of measure used. The T_MDVEX-MNG02 quantity can then be adjusted accordingly.
Refer also to Note 787037, which corrects this particular rounding error.
Attention: The ATP check is always carried out with the base unit of measure.

• Can LR Web module converting file name hyphens into underscores be disabled

Hi,
I have problems when creating webpages from within LR.
First I develop the RAW files and converts them to jpegs. Under Lightroom 3 I use the following settings under "Export location":
Export to: Specific Folder
Add to This Catalog: ticked
Existing Files: Choose a new name for the exported file
This is thus native Lightroom. For existing files the new filenames are generated with a hyphen follwed by a numeric suffix. as follows: for FileName.jpg this would be FileName-2.jpg, FileName-3.jpg.
Afterwards I use the web module with the TTG Highslide Pro plugin to generate the webpages. For each image on the page there is a link to the original image to download it. It is here where a problem occurs. With the above mentioend naming convention (adding a hypen when files do already exist) there is no problem at all to display the photos nor as a tumbnail, nor in the slideshow.
When trying to download the high resolution image however a problem occurs. The file can't be found. This is due to the hyperlink pointing to filenames like FileName_2.jpg and FileName_3.jpg. As the image itself is having a hyphen followed by a numeric suffix it can't be found when the link is pointing to that file using an underscore instead.
So to me that's a little problem as I am not at the steering wheel at any of the two moments where a naming convention is applied; the automatic filename generation at time of export from Lightroom and the change of the hyphen to the underscore when generating the webpage.
Any Idea how this can be solved? Or having an underscore used by the automatic naming in Lightroom, or using the hyphen (leaving the filename as it is) when generating the webpage with the LR web module.
I posted that question already at the TTG forum and got the following respnse from Matthew: "Lightroom's Web module converts file name hyphens into underscores. It's not something I have any control over at all."
Any help would be appreciated.
Kind regards,
Patrick

I have the same problem in that filenames created with (for instance) photographer-place--year_month_day-filename.cr2 are exported by Lightroom 3.4.1 correctly, without change, into jpg versions, but TTG Highslide Gallery Pro (or, rather, Lightroom) forces a conversion eliminating the dashes and replacing them by underscores. TTG states on its website that this is unavoidable in the Lightroom web module, and recommends entering one's wishes in the "File Handling" tab within Lightroom Preferences.
However, my LR preferences include the standard File Name Generation option "Replace illegal file name characters with: Dashes (-)" so this would indicate that a dash is not regarded by Lightroom as illegal and therefore should be left alone. As is in fact the case on a normal export from a raw cr2 to jpg: no change in Lightroom and therefore no problem. But export via LR via TTG causes an unwanted conversion from dashes to underscores.
While searching the web I came across this old post http://thephotogeek.com/ttg-web-gallery-client-selections-lightroom/
which mentions the question as a LR2 bug.
I then exported a web gallery using LR's standard web template and here too all file names are converted from dashes to underscores, despite what is entered in LR's preferences. So my conclusion is that this remains a LR bug, and no fault of TTG.
I am delighted with TTG and couldn't do without it, but am still stuck with this issue which shouldn't need to be an issue at all, if only LR would leave things alone.

• Fully Color Managed Application (using calibrated monitor profiles)

Hi,
I'm new to JAVA 2D so I may be missing something obvious - apologies if I am, but I've been trawling the API and web to try and solve this for many hours - so any help would be much appreciated!
I'm trying to write an application to open a JPEG with an embedded colour profile (in this case AdobeRGB) and display it with correct colour on my monitor, for which I have an accurate custom hardware calibrated profile. In my efforts to do this several problems / queries have arisen.
So, JAVA aside, the concept is simple:
a) Open the image
b) Transform the pixels from AdobeRGB->Monitor Profile (via a PCS such as CIEXYZ).
c) Blit it out to the window.
(a) is fine. I've used the following code snip, and can query the resulting BufferedImage and see it has correctly extracted the AdobeRGB profile. I can even display it (non-color corrected) using the Graphics2D.drawImage() function in my components paint() method.
BufferedImage img = ImageIO.read(new File("my-adobe-rgb.jpg"));(b) Also seems OK (well at least no exceptions)...
ICC_Profile monitorProfile = ICC_Profile.getInstance("Monitor_Calibrated.icm");
        ColorConvertOp convert = new ColorConvertOp(new ICC_ColorSpace(monitorProfile ),null);
BufferedImage imgColorAdjusted = convert.filter(img, null);[I was feeling hopeful at this point!]
QUESTION 1: Does this conversion go through the CIEXYZ (I hope) rather than sRGB, there seems to be no way to specify and the docs are not clear on this?
(c) Here is the major problem...
When I pass imgColorAdjusted to the Graphic2D.drawImage() in my components paint() method the JVM just hangs and consumes 100% CPU.
QUESTION 2: Any ideas why it hangs?
Pausing in the debugger I found the API was busy transforming by image to sRGB this leads to my third question...
QUESTION 3: If I pass an image with a color model to drawImage() does drawImage do any color conversion, e.g will it transform my adobe image to sRGB (not what I want in this case!)?
And if answer to Q3 is yes, which I suspect it is, then the next question is how to make the J2D understand that I have a calibrated monitor, and to tell it the profile, so that the Graphics2D it provides in paint() has the correct color model. Looking in the API I thought this was provided to J2D through the GraphicsEnviroment->GraphicsDevice->GraphicsConfiguration.getColorModel(). I tried looking at what these configurations were (code below). Result - 10 configurations, all with the JAVA 2D sRGB default, despite my monitor colour management (through the windows display properties dialog) being set to the calibrated profile.
QUESTION 4: Am I just off track here - does Java 2D support monitor profiles other than sRGB? Is what I am trying possible?
GraphicsConfiguration[] cfg = GraphicsEnvironment.getLocalGraphicsEnvironment().getDefaultScreenDevice().getConfigurations();
        System.out.println(cfg.length);
        byte[] d;
        for (int j=0; j<cfg.length; j++) {
          System.out.println("CFG:"+j+cfg[j]);
          d = ((ICC_ColorSpace)cfg[j].getColorModel().getColorSpace()).getProfile().getData();
          for (int i=0; i<d.length && i<256; i++){
            if (d[i] != 10 && d[i] != 13){
              System.out.print((char)d);
System.out.println();
Any help much appreciated.
Thanks.

I have had some sucess with this, but it wasn't easy or obvious. The trick is converting the color to the monitor profile and then changing the color model to be sRGB without changing the pixel data. JAI's Format operation does this easily although I'm sure there are other ways to do it. The RGB data is then displayed without being converted to sRGB so that the monitor calibration is maintained. I will answer your questions since I had similar ones.
Q1. Yes the conversion is done using XYZ as it should be.
Q2. I believe paint is just very slow, not hanging. Any color model other than XYZ or sRGB requires conversion before it can be displayed (as sRGB). This is both slow and incorrect for a calibrated monitor.
Q3. Yes that is what I have found, a conversion to sRGB will always happen, unless it appears to be already done as when the color model is sRGB (even though the pixel data is not!).
Q4. It is possible but apparently only with this somewhat strange work around. If there is a way to change the Java display profile to be other than sRGB, I could not find it either. However, calibrated RGB display can be achieved.
Since I have seen many other posts asking for an example of color management, here is some code. This JAI conversion works for many pairs of source and destination profiles including CMYK to RGB. It does require using ICC profiles in external files rather than embedded in the image.
package calibratedrgb;
import com.sun.media.jai.widget.DisplayJAI;

Hi,
Sets a GUI (Graphical User Interface) status pfstat which can be up to 20 characters long. There are many of these statuses in the GUI of a program. Each one describes which functions are available and how you can select these via menus and menu bars or by pressing function keys or pushbuttons. For further information about this, refer to the Menu Painter documentation.
Each status has a name which may be up to 8 characters long.
Setting a status makes the functions contained therein selectable.
This method allows you to vary the available functions according to the current screen, list level and/or previous program flow.
The current status is stored in the system field SY-PFKEY.
A status remains valid for the duration of a transaction or until you set a new status.
Note
You can use a namespace prefix with status names.
Example
Event in program:
START-OF-SELECTION.
      SET PF-STATUS 'MAIN'.
      WRITE SY-PFKEY.
AT USER-COMMAND.
      CASE SY-UCOMM.
        WHEN 'F001'.
          SET PF-STATUS '0001'.
          WRITE SY-PFKEY.
      ENDCASE.
Produces a list (contents MAIN) with a GUI framework which allows you to select functions assigned to the the status MAIN. If you choose the function code F001 (e.g. from the menu or by pressing a pushbutton), you trigger the event AT USER-COMMAND. This generates a secondary list (contents 0001) with a GUI framework which allows you to select functions assigned to the status 0001. On returning from the secondary list to the basic list the status MAIN is reactivated.
Example
PBO module:
MODULE PBO_100 OUTPUT.
      SET PF-STATUS 'S001'.
ENDMODULE.
Displays the screen 100 with a GUI framework which allows you to select functions assigned to the status S001.
Note
If you want to set a status for a screen, you must do so during the PBO event. The system always searches for the status pfstat in the GUI of the main program of the current program group . (However, see also the addition OF PROGRAM progname.)
Example
PROGRAM PROGRAM1.
PERFORM UP1 IN PROGRAM PROGRAM2.
PROGRAM PROGRAM2.
FORM UP1.
SET PF-STATUS 'ABCD'
ENDFORM:
The status ABCD of program PROGRAM1 is activated if PROGRAM1 is the program specified in the transaction definition.
Notes
If no GUI is defined in the list processing (or it is deactivated with SET PF-STATUS SPACE), the system supplies a standard user interface.
This statement converts the contents of the field pfstat to type C. The converted value is used to search for the desired status. Since the conversion employs the standard conversion rules as for MOVE, you should use a field of type C for pfstat to avoid unwanted conversions. In this case, a field of type I with a value of 12 would give the key ' 12 '.
Addition 1
... EXCLUDING f ... EXCLUDING itab
Effect
Deactivates one or more of the status functions, so that they cannot be selected. Specify the appropriate function codes using one of the following:
a field f or a literal which contains a function code
an internal table itab which contains several function codes
This method allows you to modify the selectable functions of a status easily at runtime.
Example
DATA: itab TYPE TABLE OF sy-ucomm.
APPEND 'DELE' TO itab.
APPEND 'PICK' TO itab.
SET PF-STATUS 'STA3' EXCLUDING itab.
Sets the status STA3 which renders the functions with the function codes DELE and PICK inactive.
Addition 2
... IMMEDIATELY
Effect
List processing: The status becomes effective for the last list displayed and is not flagged for the next secondary list. In screen processing, this addition has no effect because every status becomes immediately effective anyway.
Example
Event in program:
START-OF-SELECTION.
      SET PF-STATUS 'MAIN'.
      WRITE SY-PFKEY.
AT USER-COMMAND.
      CASE SY-UCOMM.
        WHEN 'F002'.
          SET PF-STATUS '0002' IMMEDIATELY.
          EXIT.
      ENDCASE.
Selecting the function F002 in the basic list (contents MAIN, status MAIN) redisplays the basic list, but this time with the status 0002.
Note
Without the addition ... IMMEDIATELY, the old status MAIN becomes active again.
Addition 3
... OF PROGRAM progname
Effect
The system does not look for the status pfstat in the GUI of the main program of the current program group, but in the program whose name is specified in the field progname.
Note
Only use this addition if the status contains no dynamic texts.
Since the system searches for the texts in the program to which the status belongs (that is, in program progname) the calling program will not be able to fill the dynamic texts. External statuses containing dynamic texts should be assigned to a function group, and activated by a function module that both fills the dynamic text fields and sets the status.
Example
DATA PROGR LIKE SY-REPID.
MOVE 'TESTPROG' TO PROG.
SET PF-STATUS 'ABCD' OF PROGRAM PROG.
The system activates the status ABCD of program TESTPROG.
Note
You can use the OF PROGRAM addition in conjunction with the EXCLUDING itab and IMMEDIATLEY additions.
Regards,
PRitha.

• Can LR use original pics with original dimensions for web slideshow?

I have a series of JPG pics that are already set to the proper size and compression. For creating a web presentation, is there a way to tell Lightroom to use the JPG's "as-is" (i.e., get Lightroom to not resize the pics and to not change the quality)?
Thanks.
Kevin

• Total ink coverage problem with images

Hey there!
I have this strange problem I cannot figure out. Any advice would be highly aprecciated. I'm making a magazine in Indesign and when I export the pdf (or print postcript file and distill the pdf) then the total area coverage of inks of the images are way over limit when I check it in Acrobat.
I have converted all the images from RGB to CMYK using correct profiles. I have several different papers in the magazine, so I used Fogra27 (300 total ink) for coated papers and custom Swop for uncoated paper (260 total ink).
When I preflight the document in Indesign then it's says all the ICC profiles are embedded in the images.
I even tried to export from Indesign with the overall color profile included. But it's the same problem.
I cannot figure out why the images are still over limit?
The conversion of the images with correct profile should avoid the total ink to be over the top, right? I have tons of images, so adjusting the channels manually for dark places is not really an option.
Thanks a lot!
Risto

>Keep the apps in the same colorspace as the Photoshop files you can sync your apps in Bridge is you own the suite.
Risto can't do that because in PS he needs to separate the uncoated and coated images using different CMYK spaces and place them in one ID document. The ID document can have only one assigned CMYK space.
The job really needs to be split into two documents one for the uncoated and one for the coated signatures then there wouldn't be conflicting profiles and all the previews will be accurate.
He can stay in one document but the placed files can't have embedded profiles, or the conflicting embedded profiles need to be turned off in ID. In that case the previews would be less accurate, but there wouldn't be unwanted conversions at output.

• 'Safest' way to convert PMS - CMYK

Hi, I'm wondering what the 'safest' or most reliable method is for converting PMS spot colors to CMYK when we might not know the end printer?
I was reading up on the difference in the conversion in InDesign (and Illustrator) when checking the "Use Standard Lab Values for Spots" box in the ink manager. So I understand how they come to different conclusions (sometimes pretty radically different) but don't really understand which is 'better'.
I know this is a bit of a subjective question, but would love to hear from folks who have experience here.
Most of the time, we are not aware of the printer who will end up printing a certain piece. And in the cases when we do actually know, I've found that the majority of the printers I've spoken to don't have a custom profile for their press (or don't know what that is) and usually tell me they calibrate their presses to SWOP standards or something.
For the current project, it's going to one of those large gang-printing shops (4by6). They state that they don't recommend using ICC profiles and that using a standard SWOP2 profile would give an approximation of their presses.
- So if all we know is 'use SWOP', and I have my document set to use US WebCoated SWOPv2, in general would using the LAB conversion give me a safer match or trusting the Pantone conversion?
(The numbers are very different, for instance our dark blue PMS 539C is either 100C, 49M, 0Y, 70k using the Pantone conversion, or 100C, 77M, 47Y, 51K using LAB conversion. Those are pretty radically different numbers and kind of make me nervous).
THANKS!!!

Jethro,
-  And for the sake of understanding, if we're usually printing on  uncoated stock but WITH a U/V coating, would coated PMS values be closer  than uncoated in this scenario?
I do almost all coated stock, so I can't really answer that one. I suspect things will fall somewhere between uncoated and coated if using UV, but that is merely a guess.
But IN THEORY, would this be the order of  preference for conversion?
1) Use the LAB conversion with accurate press  profiles provided
2) Use Pantone Bridge PC conversion
3) Use the  older Pantone CMYK conversion (default in InDesign and Illustrator)
My experience has led me to choose different methods depending on a number of variables. (Sorry, I know you are looking for a simple, easy answer that fits all scenarios).
If I was printing on uncoated stock with a low total ink limit of 240–260, I'd be inclined to stick with a solution that reduces total ink load. For dark colors, this means more black ink (heavy GCR). This will result in less color shifting on press, but may also have a tendency to have a little less vibrance than a light GCR. But, it definitely reduces ink load, which may be a big consideration, depending on your final paper, press, ink.
CMYK is widely known to be deficient in reproducing blues, and there can be a tendency to shift toward purple, so I am always cautious if there are important blues in the job or if they represent a large area. I will select the method that tends to err on the side of less magenta, rather than more.
Light Pastels are another tough challenge for CMYK, especially if printing on a dingy, uncoated stock that has any yellow bias. The only way to get those light pastels is to spread out the dots and make them small, so the paper exerts a big influence on color, saturation, etc.
Another factor that weighs into my decision is the commercial printer. If I don't know who will print the job, I tend to be very defensive, pick a middle of the road standard profile (I've been usning the IDEAlliance SWOP2006_Coated#3v2 profile for my coated work). The final press may be able to utilize 320, 340 or higher TIL, but if I prepare the file that way, and it heads to a 280 or 300 TIL press, I'll have a problem. I also strip out the profiles to prevent unwanted conversions and hope the printer comes close to SWOP G7. If I am working with a color managed printer that I know and trust, I get their profile and design the job around their press and specifications. In that case, I feel more confident pushing things a lot farther, knowing that my hard proofs will match theirs (from experience with that printer). I still err on the side of caution with blues. The Solid to Process uses way too much magenta in the blues to suit me, so I'd use the Color Bridge or Solid Coated books for blues. I also prefer to convert all my images to the final CMYK space in Photoshop instead of InDesign.
The easy answer…I'd probably use Color Bridge to select my colors, since it is the latest guide and seems better with blues (at least to my preference). If I had important colors I had to hit, I would do an accurate hard proof and make sure the colors are acceptably close.
Using Lab is fine, but which Lab value are you going to select? The Lab values from different swatch books are different.
One final thought—CMYK is unlike RGB, HSB, LAB and other tri-stimulus spaces. With three coordinates, there is only one way to define a given color (assuming you have nailed down your working space...sRGB, Adobe RGB, etc). With CMYK, you have four colors to work with, and can create the same color with many different combinations, and they may all print exactly the same.

• Value mapping with some return values

Hi Experts,
I  am facing value mapping problem.

this are the value mapping  .out of this if iam passing any like(00  it will goes to dn field). This is my requirment. Can u please let me know  how can i handle tthis.

Hi,
For you Requirement Please use  USE key option.
In graphical mapping when you will select valuemapping function then you can see the
"Behaviour if lookup fails " option
Double click on the value mapping function to see this options.
There 3 options for lookup fails:
1)USE KEY
2)throw Exception
3)Use default value
you can select use key for your requirement.
If you pass 00 as input to value mapping and it unable to find any value in value mapping for 00.
then it will pass 00 to the targhet without any conversion(in case of use key option)
If you pass 01 then it wiill do value mapping and send 02 to target.

• Changes to Same as Source Printing - CS4

Hello Everyone,
I'm in the process of testing CS4 for deployment to a large print production environment and I'm seeing some interesting behavoir in so far as it's handling of color management is concerned, specifically with Same as Source printing from Acrobat.
I currently have CS2 deployed, and we're using InDesign for page composition. We primarily accept Adobe RGB (1998) and US Web Coated (SWOP) artwork. PDFs are created from InDesign via File > Export, and we have it configured for "No Color Conversion" and "Include all Profiles." As such, our PDFs contain both RGB and CMYK artwork, all of which is tagged with an ICC profile.
In Acrobat 7, we submit these files "Same as Source" to our RIPs (Fiery and Wasatch) in order to preserve the embedded profiles. All of our color management is handled at the RIP. This works quite nicely. We have tested the submissions and the RGB and CMYK builds (color numbers) come through dead on.
With Acrobat 9 Same as Source submissions, we are seeing that the builds are changing, and that we are getting a conversion to CMYK.
-Original PDF file
Raster RGB - 191,45,47
Here are the numbers that are submitted by Acrobat, captured by our RIP:
-Acrobat 7 Same As Source
Raster RGB - 191,45,47
-Acrobat 7 Printer/Postscript Color Management
Raster CMYK- 0,244,245,0
-Acrobat 9 Same As Source
Raster CMYK - 0,242,251,0
-Acrobat 9 Printer/Postscript Color Management
Raster CMYK - 0,242,251,0
-Acrobat 9 Acrobat Color Management
Raster CMYK - 17,248,245,1
So the question is: What changes have been made in Acrobat 9 to cause for it to handle Same as Source print submissions differently? Why is it that our builds are changing when Same as Source has always been how we get "pass through" color from Acrobat?
Has anyone else run into this? From the perspective of a RIP-driven, color managed workflow, this is a serious issue, no?

I hope that the suggestions that this group is dead are wrong...
We’ve done some further investigations into the differences in Same as Source printing from Acrobat 7 and Acrobat 9. For our tests we created a simple InDesign file with two red vector rectangles, one defined as Adobe RGB (1998) and one as U.S. Web Coated (SWOP). This file was then exported to PDF with “No Color Conversion” and “Include All Profiles.” The resulting PDF contained both rectangles tagged as specified, as verified with PitStop.
We then opened this PDF in both Acrobat 7 and 9 and printed to PS files (at the time, the queue for our HP5500PS was selected). Our cursory findings are:
1. The file sizes differs, which suggests that there is a difference right off the bat.
2. The printed artwork differs visually, which is troublesome.
3. In both instances, when opened in Notepad2, the page objects appear to be tagged properly with Adobe RGB and SWOP specified as the objects color space. This, on the other hand, is good.
a.       Acrobat 7
      i.      RGB – Line 3342
      ii.      CMYK – Line 3400
b.       Acrobat 9
      i.      RGB – Line 8406
      ii.      CMYK – Line 8468
4. And here's the biggie: When the PS file created from Acrobat 9 is opened in Illustrator, it says "The document does not have an embedded RGB profile" and it allows for the specification of an RGB profile ONLY. When the PS file created from Acrobat 7 is opened in Illustrator, it says "This document contains objects using both CMYK and RGB color modes. Illustrator allows only one color mode per document. Which color mode would you like to use?" Of course, this PS file SHOULD contain mixed color modes (because it came from a mixed color mode PDF), but only the PS files from Acrobat 7 do. The PS files from Acrobat 9 do NOT. This suggests to us that the PS files (and therefor print data submitted to PS queues as Same As Source) created by Acrobat 9 are not honoring the embedded ICC profiles of tagged artwork.
Does anyone out there have any thoughts or experience? If what we are finding is true, this is a major problem for Adobe's Acrobat 9 print engine.
Matt
Matt,
I think I see why you need PS, maybe to get proper device orientation?
I downloaded your PS files and distilled. The Acrobat 7 is all mystery meat. The Acrobat 9 is calibrated.
It looks like 9 is preserving all the tags, and 7 isn't. So the tags may be your problem. One option is decalibrating everything in Acrobat 9 but it's an extra step.
Maybe Don't Include Profiles out of ID would solve your problem BUT
To me it looks like 9 is doing the right thing (preserving tags), and 7 isn't. Generally you want calibrated output. Maybe your RIP is performing an extra unwanted conversion of the tagged content that's in the PS output from Acrobat 9...
